Quite apart from the music (which is really impressive!) I am so impressed by the level of infrastructure in the Faroe Islands generally. Torshavn (Thor's Harbour) is the capital and largest city on the islands. with a population of 14000. To get there from the UK there are 1 or 2 flights from Edinburgh per week. (There are cruise ships from Norway.) In the 16th century the town's population was 101. Traditionally it's economy was based on fishing, with very little farming. The theatre where this performance took place resembles a wooden barn from the outside. None the less when you look at Streetview you notice what good condition all the roads are in. You can get boats or helicopter to any of the island's settlements but I understand the weather is so unpredictable that local guides are recommended for all scenic locations. Apparently multiple tourists plunge to their deaths every year after getting lost in mist or clouds.

Eivør is simply great. And yes in the end was tribal. Never seen native american movies, western, when they dance and sing around the fire? That's what the last part of the song sounds like.
just want to add this here after seeing her live last saturday. her vocal power is unbelievable. she was support (how crazy is this?? she, still a support for other bands) for faun, together with tvinna. tvinna was ok, they tried hard, and the singer has a good voice. butafter them eivor came and the difference couldn't be bigger. it was as if the first band had switched off the microphone compared to eivors vocal power. she played a full set of magic and i couldn't be happier! after her gig faun played. it might be mean to say but i had to leave after their first song, it was like watching a group of circus clowns, haha.
