But I gotta tell you, a national speed limit of 55mph, disco, and yellow Tamiya sticky shocks, bad enough mounted on each corner, but mounted SIDEWAYS on these buggies were likely the cause of me embracing PUNK and jumping in the mosh pit......
This was my first 4wd in 88. I remember that the fixation points on the chassis which hold on the gearboxes was a weak point. Great video Gavin. PS. Who is Charlie?
I’m not too happy about the prepainted body as I would have liked to have done a yellow one like I had back in the day . Hopefully they will release a clear option.
After watching the unboxing ( dog bones and no bearings) it occurs to me I would be much better off with a terra scorcher and a thundershot bodyset ( uj’s) and full bearings .
100%! Best to get the TS version and then change the body to the one you want. Depending on the body you will have to also change the uprights to match.

What was wrong with the fire dragon, Huh? Years ago I used to race in a TL01 buggy class. I used thunder shot lower arms to get more shock tuning options and save a little weight. While it worked well I eventually had to change back as it was classed as a unfair advantage.

I love it that Tamiya are re-releasing some of their old kits, but I do wish they'd take a leaf out of Kyosho's book and upgrade the weak parts, bloody skinflints.....🤣🤣

I built the thunder dragon rere in late 2021 and I really like it. The body looks like a space capsule too.
Definitely a nice Kit. Nice touch being pre painted as it can be a little tricky getting those paint lines correct if your new to the hobby

I bought the Saint Dragon for the CVA's and I'm hoping Thunder Shot body is released so I can make a Black Thunder Shot.
Awesome video Gavin. I know the Thundershot isn’t the best buggy Tamiya made (it’s got it’s faults) but it’s certainly one of my absolute favourites👍.

The plastic is polycarbonate now, I doubt it was in the original.

Nope, Thunder Dragon is still ugly as hell haha, but the Thunder Shot has definitely grown on me, and is my favorite of the series.
