      Yeah that wind just throws it all off for me. TBH there is not much different in them as I have not noticed a ton of difference between the single shock and the dual shock setup on the cars. I think the only one with any major difference is the terra scorcher and I think that one comes with the rear sway bar setup also. Other than that they are pretty same same. I just love them so have been collecting them since Elf sent me the dragons to play with!!

      LoL!! Maybe? At least one that looks like this for sure!! I had originally planned to do it box art and make it the shelf body but once I masked off the canopy I decided to paint it white and it just kind of went from there. No real plans as usual, just winging it!! It'll be a fun one to have and I know it is gonna get beat up so I didn't go too overboard with it. Just having fun!! Glad you enjoyed it!!

      That is one of the reasons I love collecting these Tamiya kits. I love all the "thinking outside of the box" they did on their designs and engineering. I mean sometimes it was outside the box, the triangle and even the trapezoid on some of their designs!!!! I also love them as I was so intrigued with them as a kid growing up. I wanted so many of them and could not afford any of them!! Now that I can I am checking those wishlist items off slowly but surely!! That and I never really grew up so I am still that little kid inside that wants them all!! Thanks for stopping by Mr Gibbs!!

    Fuel Tubing restrictors! Great idea!! 👌 I may build my Fire Dragon shocks that way. 😉

    • @AddamsPlayground
      @AddamsPlayground  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I like using fuel tubing as it is much more gentle on everything than the plastic spacers are. Those little clips and pistons already catch enough abuse in there without bottoming out on a hard chunk of plastic over and over!! I am going to take it out as is first and see what difference just the tires make and taking some preload off the shocks. Then I'll lower it a bit and see what that does and lastly I'll be putting on the Terra Scorcher rear sway bar to see what that does. Hopefully by then it will be stable and be making quicker laps.

      Thanks! One was serious and the other for complete fun and silliness!! If I were doing the lightning dragon for really there would have been a special decal sheet printer and custom lettering to match. I was goofing off and it turned out not too bad. Still think those wheels and tires are throwing the whole look off to be honest. Working on that as I am not terribly thrilled with them

    Hey Addam, that Lightning Dragon is awesome!! Very creative 😎 I would agree with you on the wheels but I am not sure on the solution. The Schumacher tyres are the way to go but my understanding is they fit best on those DT wheels. I see why you like the Thundershot and it is going to look great on display. Nice work pal 👍🏻🙌🏻

    • @AddamsPlayground
      @AddamsPlayground  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks!! I am sure there are other tires that will fit those thunder shot style wheels but I'll go broke trying different ones!! I have another pair to try I thought of last night (one of those 3am thoughts!) But if those don't work I may have to try and find longer axles or something. I will find the right setup eventually. These taller wheels and tires just don't fit the look properly. They'll do for now though!

    Nicely done! Like you, I think the ThunderShot looks great as is. That wing was clearly an afterthought and it just looks plain wrong when it’s on there. Looking forward to seeing that Lightning Dragon have a go at your track! It’s a good idea to have a body for bashing and one for display. Less chance of heartaches and also more fun since you don’t have to be too cautious while driving.👍😎

      They are great buggies, a lot of fun to drive. Tamiya's thread lock gel is supposed to be plastic safe, you can also use a drop of super glue or even some clear nail polish to help keep them from coming undone. I would probably just go down to you local dollar store and get a bottle of clear polish and use it. uper glue can leave a white haze on plastics as it off-gases as it is curing. the clear polish should not harm anything and with dry clear if you get any on the plastics.

If you have never seen it done you just need a big bowl or spray bottle full of water and a few drops of liquid dish soap mixed into the water. Then you dip or spray the sticker on the adhesive side before sticking them to the body. It allows you to move it around or peel it up easily before setting it in spot for good. Once you are happy with the placement then press it down firmly in the middle of the sticker and then use something like a credit card or your fingers to squeegee the water out from the middle outwards. I enjoyed the video. I agree with your comment about the Thunder Shot wing. It does look like a last minute add on. When you go to the Tamiya USA website their pictures show it without the wing, I like the the Thunder Dragon painted in white. When you look at the stance of the buggies in this series, it appears the ride height is too high and the arms should be parallel to the ground. As far as the tires go may be you could email or call Tamiya USA and ask about different tires. I looked at some of the Tamiya off road buggies. I am wondering if the tires from the Hotshot, Plasma Edge II, or the rear tires from the RC fighter would work? Thanks for sharing.

      Thanks!! I do think that some internal spacers to lower it down will be a help for sure, it does ride very high and this is without any preload spacers in them. I did think about another option for tires last night and I will also try the plasma edge tires as they seemed to work really well out there. I was really hoping the white dish wheels I got would work as I can dye them whatever color I want to. Hi Addam. Great ramble video, good idea to just re-record it rather than struggle with stupid computers, ha ha!
    The Lightning Dragon is cool! It's not my favourite type of buggies from Tamiya, but I like your idea with it, something new is always cool!
    I think the lightning bolt would have stood out better on a black or dark blue painted body, and you'd probably hate black wheels less, ha ha!
    I got question regarding your custom stickers, did you hand cut them with scalpel, or do you have a vinyl cutter for the computer? I'm considering a vinyl plotter, but not sure yet if I want to invest in more gadgets to have collecting dust. I'm a minimalist but also a hoarder and collector, ha ha!

    • @AddamsPlayground
      @AddamsPlayground  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks, I wanted it to be different but didn't really have a plan so I painted it white and went from there! I thought lightning and thunder would go together so why not!! I use a vinyl cutter to make them. It is a silhouette cameo cutter. It is cheaper than the cricut and works great. I use it to make paint masks and simple lettering and stuff like this. I also used it to make the leader board lettering. It is one of those things that once you have it is something you find uses for it fairly often. It will sit around from time to time but when you need it for something it is very handy. I have also printed out fun stickers on the inkjet printer and cut them on the cutter as fun projects. I took the bax art from some of the Tamiya kits and printed stickers from them. Just a fun project for myself. The inkjet ones won't hold up as well as the laser ones will but you can get clear overlay for them and then cut them to make them more durable.

    You have a terror scorcher right? I hope you run that around the track the terror scorcher cuz it has four shocks.

      I do not have that one yet! It is on my wishlist, I just haven't spent the money on it yet. The biggest difference with that one is the rear sway bar is included with that one. Personally I have not seen too much difference in the performance of the single shock vs the dual shock set up. The Fire Dragon and the Saint Dragon both have the dual front shock and seem to drive just like the Thunder Dragon does.

      Yeah, that will be the one that is saved for display and the white one is just the track body. I was just playing around to make it fun!

    Is ththththt a technical term?

      I think that is the official sound of a Tamiya tire mounted on a vented wheel! Not sure if you could consider it a technical term but more of a wide accepted industry jargon! LOL thanks for watching and for the laugh!
