- Our squeaky bed was driving us crazy for weeks and after a lot of trial and error, blaming IKEA quality, and some sheer luck, we realized the culprit was the metal slats attached to the wooden side beams. The screws were initially loose so we had put wood filler and wood glue to tighten them up a while back, but that made it too rigid so the metal screws, slats, and beam were rubbing against each other.
Thank you so much!!! I can't believe this was the problem. The squeaking was driving me insane. It really helped.
Thank you so much. Like you, I tried many things but the squeaking would remain. Saw your video, I loosen the screws and no more squeaking. Thanks for uploading and spreading your idea!
THANK YOU! We also tried everything too, tape, tightening everything etc etc. I was already thinking of buying a new bed until I saw your video. It worked!!!
This helped by like 80%. Thank you, I was about to change my bed coz I was going crazy. I owe you one!
This should be written in their assembly guide thank man
Thanks for this video ! Was wondering what was the cause of the annoying squeak sound. What I did was , I unscrews the mentioned screws halfway, and sprayed WD-40 to lubricate it. Then I tightened back those screws . That worked . No more annoying sounds .
You , sir, are amazing! I could not get out of bed without waking the world over here... Now it's quiet as a door mouse.
Just loosen the screws a little?
Thanks a lot! I was about to take my bed apart before I saw your video. Loosening the screws made my bed almost completely silent.
Glad it worked for you, yea loosening the screws is the key!
OMG…. You got it! Wow… thanks so much. It worked!!! Yeah!🎉
The squeaking in my IKEA Malm was caused by this bracket too except instead of over tightening to the bed frame it was overtightened to the diagonal reinforcement bar connection
taping the metal where slats come on top (ductape) sticking metal in the midbeam so it doesn't slide on the ends and sticking a piece of metal in the middle of the midbeam so it doens't squeak helped alot.
Thx, im going to try this
i have the same bed, king size, same noise, i identified how to make the squeak, just like you. I have to try your solution right away!, thanks
