Single file demo for the Commodore 64
A little experiment here. I recorded my C64 playing this demo for the ole' C64 on my Panasonic DVD-Recorder, the same one I used to make my Mayhem C64 Vs Wii video.
One thing I have allays wanted to do is capture a real C64 at 50Hz (or as close as possible cause the C64 runs at 50.somethingHz). My PC's capture capability (like most) is limited to 25Hz and hates the output from my C64. My Sharp DVD/VHS Recorder works but the video goes out of sync with the audio (gives me a idea tho, I'l have to dig it out) while my Panny records @ 50Hx but interlaces everything, causing that telltale flicker plust the resulting video file is still marked as 25Hz.
So after some experementing I managed to craft a AviSynth script that takes the Panasonic's interlaced recording, split odd and even fileds from the 25Hz interlaced source and create two 25Hz progressive streams (at half the height of the original), take one of the resulting streams and shift the image up by one pixel to match the other stream, interleave the two 25Hz streams into a single 50Hz progressive stream, double the height, crop for neatness and encode with MeGUI. The final test is to see how the TH-cam encoder and player handles the file.
If the result is good expect to see more C64 stuff in the future, especially when my 1541-Ultimate-II arrives! ^_^

Really amazing! Props to the programmer, I wish there was a book that explains all the C64 tricks and cheats.

This stuff would be even more impressive if they'd make an actual game out of it rather than just a bit of eye-candy.

This looks so good, the music is awesome, the game is quite good, 3D at that time was a great success

youtube doesnt acknowledge framerates over 30 if your video isnt atleast 720p.

The C64 doesn't really output an interlaced signal as such, something to do with an even number for the vertical resolution. The IFLI/MCI flickerring trick just alternates an image 1/50th of a second, but most capture cards won't see this as an interlaced TV image.

Hey Dude ! I've just received my 1541 Ultimate 2 today, and it's awesome. I've not tried all demos but all is running well as far I know.

I dunno if TH-cam can even DO high framerate, but good on you for trying. It's a damn fine quality capture even at 25Hz.

The music 8/10. How long did it take to program it?

Bad thing for the C64, to have the recording at 50Hz , as it sems. So you see the tearing even better in the 3D scene.
People should really drop those tries to put some 3D on a stock C64. It's simply too slow
