Cat dads and cat ladies have been around for a while. We are here to teach cat parents how to train their cats within a new paradigm.
As a cat lover I'm sure you want the best for your cats. Adventuring with your cat, clicker training, teaching them tricks and feeding your cat high quality food is going to get you there. Having a happy cat that loves you is easy. Start training positive reinforcement and going outdoors with them!

Hey, so just to clarify, when on step 2, do you continue to click and treat or just treat them?
I just rewatched the video and it’s not super clear... sorry for that.
STEP 2) Remove the treat from the hand that is moving the index finger (the trigger for the command). The treat will be in the other hand and you have to keep “clicking” and rewarding when the desired behavior happens.
Hope this helps! ☺️
Thanks for this. I don’t suppose you have any tips for stopping the cat from climbing dining chairs as I’m worried it will ruin the material?
@@ellewolfe4553 with cats the ideal is to do 2 things. Provide a better alternative and reward them when they use it. If they are seeking a high spot, offer a high spot near the table.

How do i avoid my kitten from biting when taking the treat
Dude, you are the reason I am currently training my cats. You made me want to have adventures with them!
Hi there,
I was wondering if you don't mind me asking, are you training more than one cat together? I'm wanting to adopt two kittens soon and l'd like to use the click system but am not sure it's going to work with two? I think it's easier to teach one rather than two cats. How are you managing? Would you maybe have a tip or link that could help me on those lines?
Thanks for your time and have fun with your cats. 🐈😻
hows training going

AWESOME video! For those revisiting this… training technique starts: 5:10
I've just tried this todat to my cat for like 10x in a row and she already succeeded following my hands without any food on my hand! She's so smart coz it only took her 5 minutes to learn this 😭💖 Thank you for the tips!
I'm so happy for you and your cat!
I LOVE everything you stand for about cats!!
Thanks so much!!! 😍
I do too that's great what he's doing and yes I believe cats can go out like dogs do.
I don't think he stands all the time...... Lol !
I am currently trying to train my 2-month-old kitten, and I have to keep it to a minimum 3 minute and maximum 5 minute mark because she gets distracted so easily. This is the 1st training i have tried, and she comes when she sees my finger pointing at an object even without a treat, so I know it's working. Lol, it will just take consistency and dedication on my part, but I'm determined!
That's good
I am getting a cat this weekend, and stumbled on your channel. Immediately subscribed because of how infectious your love for Mia is! She's very very lucky to have you.
Thanks for subbing! Good luck with your new adventures!

That was the best explanation for 'why to use the clicker' I've ever heard... NOW, I will use a clicker! Thanks!
My four year old cat is very anxious and skittish - I was recommended your videos as a way to help make it less stressful to take him to the vet. He already seems to enjoy our little training sessions, and he focuses on them immediately. I feel like they are a nice way for us to bond and understand each other. Thank you for making these!
❤
I have taught my cat how to sit , down, round round in a circle like u did in video on the bed. And also how to sit pretty so far. He is so smart. He learns in just one day !! He is so smart and I thank you for this video it REALLY helped me to teach Sunshine !! Now I need to find another trick to teach him !! ❣️
This is the second trick I’m teaching my kittens, taught them to come when called first. They took to this one like a duck to water! Super easy trick to teach. Thank you!
Ok you got me! I just got a cat. Male 8 month old adopted from a shelter. Got a clicker! I’m charging my clicker, got that. I’m in
Thanks! Im about to get 2 beautiful Maine Coons and am absolutely in love with your channel - cant wait to start training with them and watch them grow and provide a positive and rewarding cat life :)
Hey, can I know how it went for you? I'm just about to get 2 kittens too
I started the cliker training on my cat and i was really surprised, because it worked ! So i'm going to keep train him !
Thank you for the vidoes !
Great to hear! have fun with it!
Albert. This is so wonderful! I just taught my 6 week old kitten to move to certain areas of his cat tree using your technique. Thank you!!
YEAHHH! I love to hear that you guys learn and it helps improve your cat parents life! Thanks for sharing!
I got a kitten last week and this is so helpful! Thanks to you Albert and to Mia too for making this video!!

Thank you so much!! Glad it's helping!!

I appreciate you sharing all this useful and wise information.
It is great that you and your cat have such a strong bond! You are doing really well with your channel, and I hope you keep making more videos!!!
I finally understand why the clicker works! Great explanation.
Albert, in 4 weeks, Una, our Pedigree Bengal, will come home for the first time. Your videos are VERY, VERY helpful. You opened a world for me that I didn't know existed. Gracias!
I'm so glad you appreciate them! I wish you the best of luck with your bonding experience!!
@@OutdoorBengal Wish me patience 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I’m so dedicated to training my cat, thank you for the videos and the fact you want to normalize this!

You’re how I got the idea of taking my very active and curious kitten out! She wanted it but I had no idea how to do it in a safe way. the cat I had before was severely traumatized and wanted nothing to do with the outside world so I never had to give it any thoughts.. THAK YOU! You and Mia are awesome! 💜 hugs from!! 🇧🇷
I´m so happy you realize how important it is to move slow and at their pace! Afte r all, we are taking them out for their enjoyment, so ensuring they enjoy is basic!
I will be bringing two kittens home soon. I will be sure to let you know how training them goes. Also, your not stupid and I appreciate your videos!
I really like ur videos and also want to train my cat but I don’t know which kind of treat should I buy for my cat so can u suggest me the best treat which can train my cat? Thx!
Wow she’s so gorgeous, I’ve been binging a few of your videos cause my family is going to get a new kitten soon and it’s really cool what you and Mia do, wish me luck!
I like your channel and have followed you for last 2 yrs. I want to start my own channel, and teach others to train their cats, I'm 65 and a aneurysm survieor. I would like to include some of your videos, I hope you don't mind and still learning how to edit. You are my inspiration! I have 4 rescues that I'm training now, for last 2 yrs and you got me started and I Thank You.
This helps my cat a lot!❤
I just did this with Luna and it works marvellously! She already knew sit due to me simply waiting for her to sit before I put her food bowl down, but I was wondering about how to proceed. Thank you!
Hey!! If you tried the trick, I'd love to know if it worked out for you! :)
I've just discovered this channel and it's amazing. Thank you! I have a 7 months old cat and I'm going to try these tricks. I'm from Spain and I'm trying to understand everything you say 🙈 Where are you from?
Hi Albert, I'm still on the first part of finger targeting, my cat always bites my finger and tries to catch me with his nails, hurting me in the process. How can I stop this behavior?
Hey Albert and Mia! My kitten, Sapphire, is doing excellent with finger training. I greatly appreciate your videos!!
Youre so funny!!! i got a 5month old female 2 weeks ago, and Ive bever had a cat before, this is so helpful!!! Thank you
MIND BLOWING!
One of my new favorite channels.
I just found your channel today, but I'm very excited to see how these tricks can help my cat Freddie! I already taught him sit, and high five, but I was struggling getting him used to his harness, (because he LOVES OUTDOORS and tries to get outside every chance he gets) and I would LOVE a way to get him to behave other than the spray bottle when he's knocking fragile and spillable things over all the time 😅 I KNOW in my heart Freddie is an adventure cat. He hitched a ride from Florida, to Iowa, all the way home with me to Colorado! I just want to know how to get him to love his backpack carrier and harness and leash. (Cause once he gets the picture, he's gonna LOVE walks)
just found this channel and i've been binge watching all your videos! . great content bro keep it up!
So happy to find your channel! We are getting a bengal this summer and want to know everything there is to know!

OMG! Thanks so much for taking a minute to share some love! I really appreciate it! Ping me if you have doubts! Let's normalize that cats want to go on adventures as well!

Mia is beautiful..
Getting a Bengal kitten this Friday. This is incredibly helpful to see what is possible!
There's plenty more! and... if you can't find what you need, please let me know!
Great Channel! We started with adventuring and didn't realize clicker training existed until we got into the catexplorer community. Thanks for making this channel to help us level up our skills! 🙃🐾
Glad it was helpful! Welcome aboard!
Oh my god, how nice it was that he doesn't make the click because the cat is sleeping :)
❤yes quite right!❤
It's Finger Targeting, starts at about 4:00
Very informative 👍. By the way, I love the intro.
Thank you!! Trying to add some value :)
I'm getting a new kitten in a couple months. I was hoping to start clicker training them, and these videos have been very helpful!!
Thank you so much! All the best!
I'm glad you made this video
Michael Jordan and I are working on finger targeting right now! Thanks Albert and Mia!
Love your videos Albert😻.
Thanks so much 🥹❤️
I’m trying to slow harness train my 3 month old MARVIN. I still haven’t gotten to clicker training, I’m trying to get him used to be around people/outside. He’s still a scarety cat
This is brilliant, thank you! I'm so glad I found your channel... exactly what I needed. 🙏
I’m getting a kitten soon and I’m very exited to try to learn it some tricks!
Thank for this tips. I’ll try this with Sky. Keep it coming.
Will do! Good luck with finger targetting! It's a great trick to have in your arsenal!
could you pleas do a video when your hikeing or going on advanture😁
Thank you so much for your lessons! I am on my way to utilizing your teaching and my cat (Jin-Genie) is doing great! He is learning so fast!
Is there a verbal command to go with finger targeting?
I love your every thing about cat
Just got a kitten and I’m so glad I found your channel! He learned to associate the click with a treat in under a week :). Trying this next
Love your channel! You are great! 🐱
Subscribed!! Thank you so much!
Our sweet Teo and Pesto are around 9 months old now. I tried to teach them this trick, the clicker is for sure 'charged' as they immediately look down for a treat once they hear it. I train with them in separate rooms for context. But I've been running into a problem: one tries to bite my finger for the treat, and the other uses their nails to grab my hand to have the treat. Outside of trying to teach them this trick they have never done either of these things.
😂❤that is so dear!❤😂
Never thought of training of my Kitty ever before.... It appears, both of you ARE so WELL matched and have really great report, MUTUALLY...
I have LOVED my Kitty the way it was; Seldom cuddling beyond the time for bed NOR allowing me to carry it in my arms, although when it was time to retire, my Kitty was the ONE to never be replaced by ANY OTHER...
I did not have to teach tricks of any kind, although ONCE I was amazed, the Animal would have gone THAT Far for it's Human when the PROTECTIVE Instincts have "kicked in" AND even DOG's sense of which they are known for, would not have matched it's Quality at Crucial moment, just about when the danger of electrical! current that could not have been foretold, has traveled through my place while being witnessed by patiently awaiting me "Toilet~sitter" and somehow seeing the current to under the floor the way I have perceived it much later on... I KNOW, it is not very normal for the CAT to create a "Bonding" with the species OTHER than it's own, but at times, I have wondered about the issue of LOYALTY,
a Dog, a Cat, a Horse or a Bird at timéd DO put on display as ONE of a Kind...
Absolutely! Even within species, each animal it's a soul of its own. I'm so happy you have had the opportunity to experience a strong bond as well! :)
This is a great channel!
Hi Albert, big fan of your content. I just discovered your channel a week ago and my 4 month old cat already learned the “no” command with the clicker. I’m finding it difficult to transition from the no/clicker trick to the one were it follows my finger, since every time she sees a treat she stands back until I click. Any tips for her to learn this new trick without unlearning to wait until I click to eat her treats?
I love this channel I am new subscriber I always take my cat Jae out doors I never trained him before but he behaves pretty well people think it’s weird he out with me but I love him . I’m so happy I found your channel because this really helps me to train him, he’s not bad so this seem easy to do with him thanks so much.
I love Mia she is so adorable 🥰
Wishing you lot's of success in the training process! You are going to see how the bond with your cat goes to the next level!
@@OutdoorBengal thanks 🙏🏽
I lost my cat BG that I had for almost 19 years. I knew that when I got another baby I wanted to train her to go out on walks. I now have Starlight which was around 4 months when I got her & about 5 months now. I’m so glad I found your videos. I had bought a halter which is bulky that I am starting her on. Right now we are on day 4 of putting it on & clicker training her with treats. She is walking with it on to get the treats & touch my finger. Love training her this way. I am waiting on the outdoor bengal harness to get here. With your help I should have her walking with me at some time. Only problem is I have a small dog that I walk & of course he walks in front of me. So when I walk her also I imagine she will be walking ahead with her brother Sky Pilot. You say not to have them walk ahead but I believe I will not have a choice. Any thoughts on this?
🥰❤️👍
Hi. I just found your channel and I have an 8 year old Maine Coon. I've used a clicker to do hi fives with him and he'll touch his nose to my finger and thats it. I taught him these things when he was 4 yrs old. He's very good at them now. Do you think he's too old to learn more? I'm going to follow your channel and try.
Thank you so much for sharing these skills!!!!!! I'm bout to follow the tutorial and start to train my cat from today.....
sadly i failed...my cat come and bite me on my finger instead of touching it by her nose. i did't give the treat to my cat and my cat just walked away. : (
Have fun!
This is a long process. Don't give up. Specially at the beginning, it takes a while for cats to undersatnd what's going on. Try it every day, several times a day. Make sure that as soon as your cat touches or gets close to your finger, you reward them.
Consistency is key. :)
@@OutdoorBengal thank you for cheering me up.i tried for the third day.and my cat can jump on my sholder now without treat in my hand.BUT she jump up with her claws out it really hurts!! AND she don't understant that i just need her to touch me with nose, she bite me every time...... H E L P !!!!
@@OutdoorBengal i think there's something wrong logically....but i've no idea how to fix it....lol
You are a joy
Thanks so much!!!
I accidentally trained my cat to lick my index finger.
😅 let me guess you've been trying to train your girlfriend but your cat actually listens.😂
Thank you for posting these videos! I got a clicker last week and Marty, my cat is already starting to associate it with treats. I'm curious, now that Mia knows these tricks so well, do you still reward her every time? Or will she follow the commands without reward since it's so ingrained at this point?
This is amazing! Thank you. I do have a question the kitten I’m adopting is 11 weeks and I wanted to start harness training as she will be an inside cat. Do you recommend clicker training first then harness ? Also how long do you usually recommend between new tricks.
Thank you in advance ❤
Think I need to work on this one. Or maybe just give her more time. My kitten (16 weeks) currently sees absolutely anything that moves as something to hunt. Claws out. This means that her claws hit (= dig into!) my finger before her nose gets close.
She's also worked out where the treats are coming from and is MUCH more concentrated on getting to that than where my finger is.
So...as an example, when you train mia to get into a basket, how does she willingly stay in the basket continuously? Another question is how do you help to keep her off of counters when you aren't in the room? Like you teach her a behavior that you approve when your in the room...but is there a way to reinforce those good behaviors so she will remember even when she is by herself? My wife an I have a calico kitten that I'm training.
I absolutely love you guys! Mia is BEAUTIFUL! And I can't wait to use your training to help my little Gelli to do the same things! She is such a curious kit already! I wonder if you think she might be able to influence our older 1 1/2 year old kit to be adventurous again as well; he was when he was younger but not so much anymore and I definitely didn't know the tools to try and change it when he was young. Is there hope for our 2 kits to come outdoors and adventure with us together?
Absolutely! A month ago I helped a couple to get their cat into walking on a leash after 2 years of them trying. Cats can learn to be comfortable out of the comfort zone but you have to do it sweet, slow and consistently. Try to introduce treats and playtime when the older one is on the harness and you'll see how better they get. Any breed and any age is trainable, it might just require a little extra patience.
- And yes, definetely the smaller one is going to push the older one. Specially if the older one sees that the smaller gets to go outdoors with you and he might be stuck at home instead.
Play, Praise, Reward, Repeat :)
I am very sorry I just saw the last 3 minutes of your 2nd video and you answered that question
..from now on I'll watch the whole video and pay better attention...before I ask right away...ty...
hahaha This was a very funny message! Please, ask away! :) Would love to help you whenever I can! Best of luck with your trainings!
You got me on the intro hum-da-drum > Subs! Oneday a feral 5 month kitten walked into my cabin.....oh man shes a wild "pocket rocket" ~ let the challenge begin ; >
I found my cat under a car as a thunderstorm was rolling into Florida. I named her Zulu. I've been free feeding but she has only been her a few days. She is finally flea free. I still need to deworm her and get a vet check. Sadly, I also need to see if she is chipped. If she isn't and I get to have her. I would love to train this grey tabby (she looks like an Egyptian mau except her back leg flaps are tighter). Anyway, I hope she takes to it.
Hello, I have started charging the clicker. Is it ok if I use smoked turkey (the ones for making a toast) as a reward together with the clicker?
Thanks a lot for all the info and the videos, please keep 'em coming.
Excellent videos. Can you do so also in Spanish? That will be great.
Hey, I just found out about your channel. And I loved it. Even I started to doing it. But my only question is should I train her one thing at a time? (E.g clicker training, finger targeting, train her to jump on shoulder) how much gap should I take between those different learning session?
My cat is not on a free feeding diat but she's on a proper diet without plant slop, grain, seed oils and sugar, so there's not much I can give her as a treat. What's perceived as a treat in one moment, doesn't have to be perceived as such in another. She just ate a 1/4 of raw ribeye steak. In the evening or tomorrow she might prefer (only) tuna. Occasionally she'll eat cooked chicken/poultry but rarely, and sometimes she'll eat poultry only if there's a bit of pumpkin or similar (zuchinni) with it... Quite a picky one. I guess the only way to give her a treat is to let her to fast first or maybe I should try whipped cream without sugar and additives.
Hey! Thank you. Which collar do yoiu use for outdoors.
Is there a way to remove the clicker later? 🙈 I am not fond of the clicker but belive it can be good when starting to train
Thank you so much for this!!
Hi! Thank you for such good videos! Here is a question: What do I do if my cat tries to bite (just nibble as to take the treat/food) instead of just booping the finger? I'm scared I would accidentally reward biting instead of the nose touch. Do I keep my finger there or remove it or what should I do?
Already trying this with my cat!
Miata is doing pretty good 😄
I’m so happy to hear that! Good luck!
love what you stand for and have been watching a lot of your videos. finally got to start clicker training my cat and it's going amazing. I was wondering after the second step do we need to award them with a treat after every successful finger targeting? and would it hurt the training if I just did the finger targeting and just awarded him by petting him?
Can you do a video on benefits of training your cat ?
You act so much more natural in this video. More of this please, you seem very nice !
Love your videos!!! So helpful
Thank you for taking a minute to share some love and appreciation! This comments keep me going! :)
How old was Mia when you started training her? I'm used to training horses with clicker training (I use a cue word though instead of clicker) and I'm so excited to adventure on the same path with our bengal kitten!
I started training Mia when she was 12weeks old. I started with some easy tricks like come when called and finger targetting and got to more complex tricks once she was comfortable with those. You can find more about it in this video: th-cam.com/video/YxxCqtJ93zU/w-d-xo.html
@ thank you! :) I can get our kitten to come to me already, and she's happy to follow me around. But she has absolutely no interest in treats or her food used as treats. In other words; she's not motivated by food at all. That's a challenge I don't know how to take on :) she's not having free access to food, so I'm hoping that as she grows, she'll develop appetite for getting rewards.
Hey Albert, this is so cool! From what age would you start clicker training with a cat?
Thank you so much .Loved it 😀
I have a question, during training whenever i start moving my finger , my cat instead of touching it with her nose , she hunts it with her claw 🤦🏻♂️
What should i do so that she touches her nose to my finger and not hunt it .
What do you mean by hunt it, with her paws? If you don’t mind a few scratches don’t do anything until they reach for it with the nose. You can also feed your cat a few treats upfront, throwing them away and recalling your cat. When they are less hungry and anxious, you try again.
Let me know how it goes ☺️
@@OutdoorBengal super cool !
I ll try throwing the treat and calling the name . That should work . Will let you know how it goes . Thanks 😀
I clicker trained my previous cat using other instructions but he was very attentive and cooperative so we even went walking the country roads with no leash in a foreign country (UK). However, I was landed with 2 kittens because I couldn't bear to separate them. All real training has been abandoned because they cry loudly when separated from me and the sibling. I haven't found anyone who will sit with the left behind cat so I take them out together. I had no problem adapting them to harness and leash because I start very early with small animal harnesses for ferrets and such. Any advice AT ALL on working with 2 7+ month old kittens? I love your videos. Wish I'd seen them sooner. Hopefully not too late.
🐈⬛🐈⬛🐈⬛❤Well done!
excited to start clicker training! thank you for this video. my cat is 4 years old, is it too late?
Not at all! cats of all ages can learn! Give it a try!
I am going to try this to my cat!!!
It’s a fun trick but, most of all, an enabler!
