CARS: 2014 Chevrolet Impala LT, 2013 Chrysler 300S, 2013 Dodge Charger SXT, 2013 Hyundai Azera, 2014 Kia Cadenza, 2013 Toyota Avalon XLE
LOCATION: Michigan
The impala has one if the most attractive exteriors of any car I've ever seen, it's especially stunning in black
i have impala 2015 its had a high quality and strong engine
I have to say, the Avalon is my favorite. It's luxurious, comfortable, reliable (like most Toyota vehicles) and beautiful.
The Impala looks incredible!
jeff cowen I don't like the back end, it looks too short, wife rounded, and looks lifted
Drove the Ford Taurus, Impala, and 300s. Impala and 300s were close but I went with the 300s..Just more heart and character. Personal choice.
Impala was the best to me
The Chevrolet Impala is the only one I would consider.
Same here. Kia and Hyundai are a joke and the Chrysler & Dodge have reliability issues that others do not. That Impala was redone from scratch and it paid off, looks great.
ShieldsJustice I gotta disagree with u on the Chrysler & Dodge not being reliable. I still have my 2006 Dodge Charger SXT Plus & it has 205k miles on it & it runs great still. I agree with the Chevy thing. I also have a 2014 Chevy Malibu LTZ that I also love. I'm a American Car fan boy so I love them all just about. Only thing I don't like about the Impala is the back/trunk.
I understand. That's good then, glad you have a reliable car and love it too!
Alpfosho Chrysler & Dodge have always been a hit or miss on reliability. Count yourself lucky.
They've always been down near the bottom of manufacturer reliability rankings. Now that Italian car manufacturer Fiat bought Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram Trucks & SRT it's a guarantee the vehicles will be worse than before considering Fiat itself makes unreliable vehicles also.
Sad day it is though. Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram Trucks & SRT are no longer American.
I don't have to count myself lucky cause I never had any major problems. Dodge officially got better after they got rid of that god awful Neon, Stratus, & Intrepid. Only problem Chrysler had was with the front end suspension on the 300 & Charger from 06 to 2010. Saying Chrysler hit & miss is basically saying Jeep's aren't reliable & everybody knows that just isn't true. Have u ever owed a Chrysler made car? I'm just not going off my Charger, my first car was a 1998 Plymouth Voyager back in 2004 & before I got my Charger I lease a 2006 Jeep Liberty Limited which I LOVED! I can go on & on lol.
ive rented a cadenza twice in the last yr and drove both of them from fl to nc and back..mostly on i95..one of the nicest experiences..i was very surprised at how quiet the car was..road wind was non existent. and a very smooth cushion ride..easy to work settings...mpg were avg 28..
The Kia is the one to consider, its just perfect, and its so funny to see all these Kia haters speak without reasons!
You are agree!! Pos hater
Not a bad choice at all since the prices have fallen dramatically on the "earlier" models; even a fair share of ones with the rear skylight & COOLED driver seats are going below $20 g's
The major con though is NO tried & true reliability record like the impala. At least the early 2000's versions were definitely built to last; mine'll probably hit 225k miles within the month. Basically a coin flip between those two cars...
The best ones are the Avalon and Impala imo. I wish Honda made a large sedan.
Agreed !
haha this car is the worst in class i term of safe, comfortable, fuel efficient, and reliable. If you want the reliable one buy the AVALON 10 years ago with 3.0. If you want good car get The new FORD TAURUS 3.5 SHO twin turbo
k doa no such thing as a good Ford
They do its called Acura
💯 Honda/Acura...they need to come out with a new Acura Legend! They had plenty or room and power!
The Avalon interior is very slick and sick! I bought a 2013 dodge charger I'm happy with my purchase. All of these are very nice sedans!
Cadenza for me, a nice under-the-radar car that turns heads. More reliable than American cars, better creature comforts. Lower price and very light.
i want it too but is it fun to drive?
I'll take the Impala, in navy blue....thanks :-)
Its finally living up to what it should have been all along, THANK YOU Chevy!
This guy's narration is about as exciting as it is to drive these cars.
Holy crap did he say over $40k for the Kia?? That is crazy. I wouldnt even pay 25k for a Kia. Toyota Avalon has been making affordable luxury for years and waay more reliable than other more expensive cars.
that is a very intelligent coment of yours
Carlos Gonzalo Ayza juan tafoya either its Kia or Hundai, Accord or Avalon. Technology is Expensive.
juan tafoya yeah, but compare the Kia to all those other cars with their base model... Kia blows them out of the water!
Jacob Ridgway i didnt see it that way before.
Also, I built and priced the 2014 Charger HEMI Max with AWD...damn what a beast of a car with SO much thrown in for a great value. By far the best of all of these cars in that price range.
Hyundai Azera looks very elegant and modern design.
FORZA HYUNDAI MOTORS!
Geke Cains
I sense a little hate
Try Again Buddy Not Hate. i Guess Jealousy. Ghafar Ahmed is your Neighbor shitting you with his new 2014 Azera ??
But for now, it's a car for posers
shitty mind haters think like shittttyyyy
mistaken prejudice
omg this is exactly how i envisioned this article in my head when i read it in the magazine! love this.
I've sat in most, and the Kia Cadenza has the BEST most comfy seats!!! Impala is second place...
kia is the worst ever
"Kia" fukin dummy!
TheSpritz0 Hey don't listen to these assholes I'm with you on that one. They're just so arrogant to even look at the Cadenza and take it seriously. This car competes with high end competition like Lexus, BMW, Mercedes, and maybe the Impala (fully equipped)
I will take the DTS seats for overall comfort Kia does a pretty good job
I like the Cadenza, but the Avalon is probably the best choice used today in 2022, because of it's reliability.
The impala is the best looking car in there GM For the win
I wasn't expecting the Mpala to do as well as it did......but I wasn't expecting the Charger to do so lousy, either. "Four-door Camaro" might not be the right descriptor for the Chevy but it's easily the best looking car in the group inside and out.
i bought avalon xle 2015 today .. and m happy ,, nice car and blowing interior.!
+Gurmeet Singh
congrats
Is it quite ?
i want to buy it but not sure, i am seeking a very well isolated car
yeah its quite and love the feature they put in .!! AMA200707
quite like honda accord :)
14 Impala blows all of these away.
The best one is Impala
I drove all these cars and went with the Cadenza! All were great, but the Cadenza blew me away. Felt like a much more expensive car.
the most monotone, boring, lifeless narration on a car review
We're replacing our 2005 Maxima in a few months and after doing much homework the Avalon checks all of our needs and wants more than any other car, even in this test. Perfect looks, ride, bells and whistles, quite luxury cabin, size( bigger than Accord, Mazda 6, Camry . Etc, smaller than Impala, 300, Charger,Taurus Etc), and priced much less than any Mercedes, BMW, Infiniti , Lexus or the Cadillacs which we dream of having(XTS and CTS) but have priced themselves far from our pockets! Unless a great deal comes along , we will be buying our first Toyota(never ever thought I'd be saying that lol!)!
Its really pathetic that people still think that KIA and Hyundai aren't making good cars. The Forte was a Motor Trend top pick, the Soul is an incredible value for a college kid, the Elantra GT is one of the nicest riding and looking hatchbacks you can buy, the Optima SX is incredible to look at and 274hp with all the features it comes with for under $26k is amazing, the new Genesis is one of the nicest luxury vehicles I've ever driven, the Sorento is a well equipped V6, awd SUV for under $29,500 which is extremely rare, and the Cadenza for $37,000 (without the $4,000) option pack you don't need is an amazing value. You'd have to be a complete idiot to pass up looking at them if you needed a new car.
If they were making good cars the product would speak for itself and you wouldnt need to call people idiots.
Bought a 14 azera perfect car luxiours quiet cabin and engine and smooth ride love it
for some reason i like the kia and i just brought one today fully loaded it reminds me of a jaguar good job on this one kia
Bought 2015 three days ago!!! Very NICE
This video feels like someone is reading from a magazine article word for word.
chevrolet impala is the best without a doubt
Chevy sucks...
If you want a very cushy ride but the reliability is not there compared to Avalon
I own a 300s and it's by far the best vehicle on that list. Drives great with the 8 speed transmission, best speaker system, great style with the black accents, and mean looking.
Two things. If you're an "oldster" looking for what might be your last car, why would you want the Toyota, which the reviewer said had an uncomfortable, punishing ride? For me, that would exclude the car from my list right away.
And I think they made a mistake by not including the Buick LaCrosse in the test.
I think this video is great. I have been a fan of Car and Driver for 10 years. I heard about car and driver when i was in high school
is the cadenza a good buy for 20k?
Yes get it
@@jaredshelton4718 YES, JUST GOT 2015 $18K
WITH 24K MILES!!!
@@gemneyebable About a week and a half to about 2 weeks ago, I purchased a 2014 SXL for $14,500 with 70k miles. I've always wanted one and I finally got it :)
i had my fair share of GM cars and i switched to kia cadenza and very happy with it
The Avalon was the BEST.
yea i do. my uncle and grandpa both have chevy trucks early 90's model's and they still run very well. my mom just got a 2013 ford escape it has already broke down and had a recall my cousin also just got a 2013 ford explorer it also has just broke down and had a recall everyone has there own opinion i guess but i think its more then obvious that chevy make a more quality vehicle over all just compare how many older model chevys you see on the road compared to older fords.
Cadenza for ever ! ! ! ! We All Love kia Cadenza High speed Car
Them 1996 impala SS's have a real presence on the road, I still admire the look of those cars if they are in great condition.
Hey don't buy Japanese cars! You better buy and support American cars because our American people need more jobs here.
If they made reliable cars than I would. But I'm not gonna be the one paying the price for that mistake.
There's always GM their cars are nice and reliable I have 2 cars that are GM never had a problem
Japanese cars are built here by Americans
"Hey, shit Bob, we forgot we had a video to do. We wrote this script right quick, will you voice it?" "I don't really have the voice for this stuff." "Come on. We won't make you do a single retake."
Man the Toyota looks like a a lexus HS from the back
I agree gman. The Chryslers are essentially chassis twins and share many drivetrain components. I feel it is rather suspect that C & D went OUT OF THEIR WAY NOT TO INCLUDE THE TAURUS. Apparently they can't shake them down for more ad dollars at this time, that would be my guess. I own a 2011 SHO, it has more driving excitement in one hand than many of this group...and those wonderful massaging seats are unbeatable...but C & D could not include the better car out there...pity.
the charger is in its own league, it's a 4 door muscle car
No such thing as a four door muscle car.
For me, the Impala is the overall best looking and designed vehicle in this segment. Some seemed displeased about the Ford Taurus not being in the segment, and while I agree it should have, as well as the Honda Accord because it is also in the full size sedan class now... I still would think the new Impala is an overall better designed vehicle than the boring looking Accord, and the card board box looking Taurus.
300 BY FAR!
I'm 27, my dad is 62, we both drove all of these...The Toyota is the most boring of all of them, providing absolutely no driving enthusiasm and a dash that reminds you "ya this is your 5th Toyota dude". The SS was very impressive but the inside is still an overgrown Malibu and the plastic everywhere trying to be super sporty isn't. The Charger is the most nostalgic but it, like the 300 desperately need an overhaul and the seats/gauges are cheap looking and feeling. Neither of us minded the seats though. The Azera had bad steering and we felt a lot more bumps. The Cadenza was a much better ride. For us it went; 1) Cadenza, 2) SS, 3) Charger, 4) 300, 5) Azera, 6) Avalon
That was the Impala, not the SS.
I'll drive a kia.
Poor baby! I hope u leased it.
+Alpfosho u
@@alpfosho The Cadenza is the best in this video.
The Impala is just so great looking, sure the Avalon is cool but I would pick it over any of the others.
The video was very informative, with a bit of humor. My choice would definitely be the Impala. The Korean cars have a long way to go, but getting better. The Chryslers are a dated design in need of a big change. Toyota, still boring without any direction on where the car company is headed. Good review. Keep it up.
Zeblon Ewell agree on all points lol
I started to watch this video then realized I'm in my mid 20s. Quality cars but I'm not ready to admit that "getting old" is a real thing yet.
Looks goes to the Kia and Hyundai.
I would go with the Charger on that one.. but people have different opinions!
Kia, Hyundai look more classy.
Charlie Chase Its a matter of opinion but I would prefer a sexy car that shows off the classic american muscle style a car can have. The Kia and Hyundai look like something my grandma would drive..
daughertytcjtv The Cadenza is elegant and has an almost luxurious look to it, to me it seems like a more grown up car that people would move on to after going through the Muscle Car Love part of their life.
Excellent report on cars that most families need. :) Breaking longer videos up by having more than one person do the audio might be good, regardless of who is speaking. Still excellent video. :)
Impala all the way. If youve ever been in one the interior is beautiful! It looks like something you would gwt in 75k car not 35k!
I love the way the new 300s feel. Especially if you get the 8 speed transmission. Even if you get the 3.6 v6 its an amazing engine. An award winning engine might I add. Not very sold on Kia or Hyundai. I feel like there could have been more contenders in this video. Looking forward to drive the sweet looking impala next week!
You can tell this guy is reading. This is a bad video.
LordFridge1 agreed
Lot of road notice, hard to hear what he was saying.
When I cant fall asleep I like to put this video on and let the music and narrator bore me into a deep sleep.
Cadenza has more space better looking interior ,looks luxurious drive like too has better info and nav system!and 100k warranty all the American cars has not enough room and worst materials inside interior...Avalon is old people's car
MY I guarantee the impala is bigger than the Cadenza inside
The new impala has too. It was giving the highest score Consumer Reports testing. Both are great cars IMO.
we all know we came here to see the toyota!!
My sentiments exactly. I saw this design for the first time at the Dallas Auto Show. It looks like a giant carp on wheels.
Toyota wins again, haters gonna hate.
I don't hate them. I just think toyota has some issues.
They hate us cause they anus!!! I've driven a Highlander for 10 years now but im about to get a Hyundai Azera 2014. Drives fine to me and with all the features..... im in. Toyota is a great brand though and always will be!
enemay Toyota is best bang for your buck.. Toyota is about mass produced common affordable simplicity for people like me and you. nothing to hate there
Kiran Sunny I assembled Camrys and they also cut corners as well. All car companies are looking for ways to save and Toyota isn't an exception. The brand names mean nothing to prudent car buyers.
Eugene Parkerson i should've been more clear in what i meant - Toyota is a potato on wheel; last car anyone would want to be seen in.
enemay toyota is a winner for people who can't afford better
Thats Tommy Kendall narrating! Legend.
Are we still pronouncing Hyundai 'hun-dai'?
It's Hunday.. Like Sunday.
Avalon wins hands down. Never thought the Avalon would look that sexy inside and out
HA! Sorry thought they were comparing the SS with the others...the Impala is a complete joke driving it...hahaha ya, wow. Terrible car, especially over a genuinely surprising and very well done Cadenza
bbcoachSuperman - I'm with you 100% on that, Kia should've been taken seriously in this comparison. Honestly the Kia should have won, hands down.
The video was wonderful. I've never slept better.
If you drive them all you'll buy the Toyota.
Cadenza is the best
I think the impala is the best looking by far & I know the parts (if ever needed) would be easy'er to get & less expensive. In my opinion.
Hyundi Azera is the best.
U can't take that garbo serious lol. Why was it even in the video?
looking shit in sweets haha
I'm glad the steering wheel in the "Hunday" point's up rather than down. Its so annoying when the steering wheel is in the roof.
The dodge charger and tje chrysler are too ugly
They're all great, but I think the Impala and Avalon are the best.
Because this shootout is about FULL SIZE cars. The Impala doesn't cost $45K either. It costs between $40-41K for an ignorantly loaded LTZ, and just over $30K for a well appointed LT2 (mid-range trim).
I liked the deadpan delivery.
If I had to buy one from this group, it would be either the Impala or the Cadenza.
I would take the impala. Easily the most striking car right next to the 300.
the only good thing about this video is the early 1900s piano music
Impala is hand down best car out of all of them!
Good video... but IMO it would be better if the cameraman kept it IN FOCUS at all times!
Perhaps you need a cameraman who knows how to operate the focus control properly.
yes, our family owned 2 super/slant 6. the cars itself fell apart before the engines actually went. Also people complain about K-cars. they are tough too.
Isn't the ATS the same price range as these cars? The 300 is quite expensive and the Ford Fusion looks and feels nicer on the inside while being way cheaper. The Taurus would have been nice to see here too.
The 2014 Dodge Charger was by far the sexiest car they showed.
They had a whole marketing campaign telling us how to pronounce "Hyundai like Sunday." Yet even car reviewers say Hund- I.
I'll take the new Impala all day long
Some people don't buy cars for the brand. You're comparing two different cars there - someone may buy that Kia for the larger leg room, head room, trunk space, more features, and not want to pay for the high maintenance fees usually associated with German cars.
He's not boring, as I don't get moved by someone's tone but rather the details of the product.
Here's the deal C&D, voiceovers: bad, talking while driving: good. Bring back Csabe Csere! He was always so interesting!
Yet, the Avalon has won numerous, class leading interior design awards for this segment, while the Impala has won...
The Charger SXT is the bottom trim level. The RT and SRT8 are both above it.
The level of sarcasm and lethargy in this video is too much. lol.
This is not Tommy Kendall..
It says at the beginning that this review is by C&D Editor, Aaron Robinson. They have similar-sounding voices..
I just grew old watching this.
True they all had V6's, but only the 300 and Charger has V8 and RWD options. Impala does not look like a 4-door Camaro. It is more square-ish and muscular, whereas the Impala looks more slim down
It's 2014 and people think hyundai are still shit. I'm on my third sonata and the first one I had still works with 232000 miles. Yes they came from a long way. There not cheap any more. But I'll buy a hyundai any day. They always treated me good.
So you picked the "middle of the road" car instead of the actual best? After looking at the Avalon, Taurus, Azera, 300 and Impala I choose Impala. Actually, I choose Impala LTZ V6 with everything but Adaptive Cruise.
"The Dodge Charger is a car for people who never plan on getting old. It's for people wanting to die with a Glock in one hand, and a jalapeno cheeseburger in the other.."
LOL!
