God is definitely in this. Birth Mom here seems so comfortable with you and her reasons are her reasons but she has to love her child to want to give him the best life.

I believe it may have been more selfish to have kept him knowing she couldn't support 4 children alone. It's an emotional roller coaster for sure. But he's got an amazing family. And many kids have 2 moms and 2 dad's. When their parents divorce and remarry. And no one seems to bat an eye.

Seeing the way you guys navigate adoption is really incredible. So many adults these days that want to adopt/have adopted don’t understand, or don’t want to understand the trauma that almost every adoptee faces as we grow up. You guys have already built beautiful foundations for Abriel to grow up in and if you continue to navigate parenthood the way you are, you guys are going to give him the best opportunity to know, understand and love the person that he is.

It’s a basic human right for people to know their lineage, and being open from the get go, allows him to know his family history and never have the longing of never knowing where he stems from. He’s clearly LOVED by all parties and that’s so vital… KEEP BEING AWESOME PARENTS to him 🥰💕

She did enough explaining as well as opening up to us on some things, I honestly believe nobody other than family deserves to know the reasoning for the adoption but let alone not even because it’s your choice to do so, but for people to get mad in the comments bc she didn’t give an answer is honestly dumb. You can’t be mad because someone isn’t answering a really personal question let alone to thousands of strangers.

As an adult, adopted in 82... I cannot begin to tell you how much I admire the efforts and consideration both families have invested in this child. I was told from a very early age that I came from someone else's tummy... and that she wasn't able to give me the life that she wanted for me.. and that they had chosen me. Despite being told this, I put my adoptive parents through hell as a teenager. I was soooo confused. The fact that they have already considered these years, and discussed the future, is such a wonderful sign that both mothers have nothing but his best interest at heart. He's a very lucky boy... to have such beautiful souls looking after him❤️

I'm just watching this video now. I love that you guys are so open with Abriel. I love that you guys are so open with each other. I love that Ashley tries to understand Mikayla's feelings as best as you can. I have read up on adoption vs surrogacy and a lot of kids say they experience trauma due to adoption because the adoptive parents try to hide who the birth parents are or don't tell them until they are older. It makes me heart happy that you all have such an amazing relationship, you guys are open with him from the start, he clearly was adopted because he was loved not unwanted, and you guys created a whole new family with so much love involved! I actually found you on Instagram randomly and it brought me here to your channel. I absolutely love your family. You both are absolutely beautiful!
P.S. I found good and bad things about surrogacy too just didn't add them because your story is about adoption. I want 1 more baby of my own(I have a 4 almost 5 year old) but I wanted to look into becoming a surrogate to help another mama fulfill her dream of also becoming a mama because I think motherhood is a beautiful journey that all the mamas who would be amazing at it should get to go to through! Again l love your family and will always watch you guys!!!

I honestly have so many issues with for profit adoption. I can’t handle the trauma that adoptees and bio parents have to endure…. That being said, you are a good example of what folks should try to do. The bio parent needs to be involved and the child should always be able to learn their heritage and have that bond. I am still very leery of adoption, but I appreciate you openness on this subject. The bio mom seems so happy with the arrangement and you are so open to letting him love her. That’s important.
I appreciate you saying how if you make an open adoption, keep it open. The fact it is actually a closed adoption and you kept it open anyway? That’s amazing.
I have been very rough on you on other videos… this is such a sensitive subject to me in so many ways. But thanks for posting this and showing how much you are trying to make this a good situation.

It’s amazing how much love this sweet little boy has. Y’all are more mature than most adults that just “co-parent” together. Birth mama is so strong to know that her son would be better off with another family. Adopted mama is so strong to go through the adoption process and not know if the adoption would even go through after his birth. Y’all are so incredibly amazing!
P.S. Both mama’s are sooooo beautiful!!!

I love this so much, but at the same time hate that people feel the right to invade the bio moms privacy. You could tell a couple of the questions were hard or confusing for her, in which I'm sure her answers can vary depending on the day. It's an emotional rollercoaster and we owe her the respect and privacy. She seems content, without spreading the biggest parts of her personal life with people that are going to judge her. We all have laundry we don't want hanging out on the line. But, good job you two. This little boy is so well loved. 💙

I respect Abriel's birth mom for choosing not to explain to the world why she put him up for adoption. Only Abriel (not even the adoptive family IMO) need to know why. She is a strong woman, I wouldn't have the strength to do it. I just cannot fathom giving away my child to another family to raise even if the odds were stacked against me. Damn, it would kill me.

I have a couple of friends whose moms were raped but ended up having them anyway. In both cases, adoption probably would've been better for the kids. The mothers never had a full emotional connection to either of them. At the same time, I doubt either mother would have wanted to openly explain that they were raped just because a random person asked. (Not saying that is the case here cuz I don't know them but there can be all sort of things going on that could make someone give up a child.)

As an adoptee this is so weird to me. I feel like I would've wanted this growing up, because this topic was so taboo and also since I didn't re-connect with my bio mom after being adopted at 4, until 14 years later and she died last year so we never saw each other in person again. But I also feel like this would've confused me so much. I LOVE THIS relationship but oh my the roller coaster of feelings 😅

I can imagine why it might be confusing to someone in that situation, but I really want to hear from your perspectives why you think it would be, if you don't mind sharing. I would also love to hear from any adoptees who are now adults, who grew up having a relationship with their birth mother about what their experiences were like

  • @3AmandaR1017

This is amazing and so special. I gave my daughter for adoption and we keep in contact thru Facebook but they said that as gets gets older she will know she's adopted, but for now and until she's old enough to WANT to know, I'm a 'family friend' or an aunt. BUT, I will also never physically see her in real life, unless of course she gets older and wants to meet me.
Which was not what we agreed on during the adoption process while I was pregnant. They were supposedly open to an open adoption. Until it happened, and things changed. Now it's like a closed adoption that I only get to see pictures of on Facebook. Until she gets older and wants to know, then they say that they'll never keep her from me or the truth. It's all confusing. And of course, I made a permanent decision based on temporary circumstances. But, I couldn't have chosen a better family for her. She is very well off, taken care of, and loved beyond measure. I couldn't ask for anything better.

I did an open adoption with my son. His adoptive parents are so so wonderful and I’m incredibly grateful for them. My opinion on which is better - open vs closed adoption - is determined on a case by case basis. There are many factors that go into making that decision and when an open adoption is chosen, the level of involvement is also going to be different for each family. I think what this family has chosen to do for Abriel is beautiful! The amount of involvement that the birth Mother has is completely different from what I have with my son, but like I said, every situation is different and what works for this family wouldn’t work for mine. I love that this works for them though! Abriel is blessed to have so many family members that love him & support him. ❤

Her family kept her other 3 sisters, 2 of whom were older than her and 1 younger. We don't know why until today, but my friend is the most successful of the 3 sisters in her career, and she's helping out the biological family after her mother, who raised her, died, and she discovered that she is her auntie and not her biological mother.
