I know that this video doesn't exist. I know that when I subject my eyes to it, the Matrix is telling my brain that it's funny and informative. And after 8 years, you know what I realize? *watches video* *sighs deeply* ...SO HAPPY.
Feels like im the only one who really enjoyed Epic Yarn. Not every game needs to be Five Nights or Dark Souls. Sometimes, having a game where you can chill and have FUN is better than stressing out on a hard game.....
Jirard, you're wrong about Kirby's Epic Yarn. It's an amazing game. Like Woolly World, it oozes creativity. Just because you can't die, doesn't make it a bad game. The true difficulty lies in completing the game. In a lot of the later levels, getting a gold metal is pretty tough. You should really give the game a second chance.
+Konradix05 the thing about it is...YWW is practically Epic Yarn 2. It's VERY similar. unashamedly so, and if epic yarn was boring, i really don't get why he LOVES YWW this much.
+bmmbooshoot Kirby's Epic Yarn was a mountain of collectibles and a distinct lack of challenge hidden under a pile of cutesy cutesy stuff. Yoshi's Woolly World is Yoshi's Island's challenging levels and bosses, collectibles, and a pile of cutesy cutesy stuff.
Jirard, if you almost fell asleep during Kirby's Epic Yarn, that's a good thing. It's meant to be relaxing, just as horror games are meant to be scary. Neither are supposed to be "fun", but they're still games.
I love kirby's epic yarn! I found it good to be easy but if you wanted to complete it %100 like you always do, I see a bit of a challenge but not too much. I think it's fantastic.
+ButtonMasher Jirard plays games to complete them, for the challenge. Epic Yarn is a wonderful experience, but it's just that: an experience. There's really no challenge in the game, so for a completionist like Jirard it's not all that interesting. I can relate, but I like how Wooly World still manages to give you a fun experience while still providing optional challenges in completing everything.
I really love the way that these kind of games use unique little tricks like taking the yarn off the Chain Chomp to make it follow you around, or throwing things and using their trails as ladders.
can you complete all of the ratchet clank games before the movie comes out or play some ratchet and clank game all of them usually have good completion bonus.
+Alex Ninten At least the canon ones! Don't really need to see the PSP one, All 4 One or Full Frontal Assault/QForce. But yes, please do Ratchet games :D.
+Alex Ninten i've completed the first ratchet and clank the completion bonus was awsome. you get golden weapon forms and an epilog for all the characters you met in the game plus the op rihno
+Ghost Boy I liked it because of its simplicity. It was a nice break from some of the other games I was playing at the time and I had a lot of fun with the co-op. It's easily one of my personal favorites in the Kirby series, which has never been known for challenge. When Jirard started to say, "Epic Yarn was one the most -" I was expecting him to say "chill and relaxing games ever made." Hearing him call it one of the most boring experiences on the Wii was kind of jarring, actually.
+Ghost Boy I think he's just the kind of guy that aways expects a challenge and just cant enjoy the rest of kirby's design and mechanics since most of them is so easy to just pass through. For short, he's all about the rewards and the journey he had to get to them, and since there's no "journey" he can't enjoy what the game throws at him, even though these things are very cool for most of the players.
I get that and that's cool. Although it's kind of weird to me that in the same video he also brings up how he had a hard time with Yoshi's Story. I wouldn't exactly call that a challenging game either. In fact, that's a game I myself would describe as so easy it's not especially fun. Just an interesting contrast in opinion, I guess.
This game was an absolute joy. It was 1 of the few games my wife and I got for the WiiU and we completed it together. I understand your sentiments on getting frustrated with co-op and eating eachother, but seriously that was what made it so much fun. Honestly this game is meant to be played in co-op!
Let's rethink that: wooly yoshi can flutter with his feet and stay in the air longer. Yarn Kirby can use his feet as a yarn spring to get in the air and transform into a glider to stay there longer. Wooly yoshi can eat ennemies and make them weapons. Yarn Kirby can catch ennemies with his yarn lasso and make them weapons. Both can ground pound. Both have wheels instead of feet when running. Both transform into different vehicules in stages (which drastically changes the gameplay) I don't see why Kirby's epic yarn would be less "complex" than this game. The platforming is less difficult but it is perfectly appropriate for the target audience, young children.
0:39 Yeah for some reason. I wish they didn't wait so long for no reason. 1:19 Boring? What the heck I wasn't expecting you to say that. 6:09 How about Kratos Aurion the Yarn of Cruxis? 9:53 So just like Mario Maker the pokemon amiibo do less than what the other amiibo do? Figures.
***** I wonder what their issue is. I always thought Nintendo had full control over Pokemon but after seeing the Amiibo in action especially in recent games I'm convinced that they don't have the control that they should have.
***** Yeah same goes for Pac-Man and Mega Man. It's kind of silly really when 3rd party companies are giving them less trouble than a Nintendo owned company.
Orange McJuice That's part of what I don't get though if they are 2nd party doesn't that mean that Pokemon could theoretically appear on a non Nintendo Console/handheld? Or am I not quite understanding that?
+Kratos Aurion Plays They may be second party, but they probably have an exclusivity agreement with Nintendo. Like Sony and Naughty Dog or Microsoft and 343.
This game is so underrated and ignored. The only worthy Yoshi game after Yoshi’s Island. I loved this back in 2015. I hope it will get a quiet Switch release eventually.
this review covers one thing i was unsure about before, which is how hard the game is. I like games that have some challenges so now i know this game is for me.
I can understand your complaints about Epic Yarn being boring and too easy Jirard, but still, it's a bit odd that you of all people would call it too easy. From a regular gameplay perspective, yeah, that makes sense, but since you're the completionist, I'd think you'd have found it more difficult. That game is REALLY FREAKING DIFFICULT if you try to get all the collectibles, get gold rank on all missions, etc. Still, I'm glad to hear that this game is actually worth playing through 100%, despite how much content there actually is!
+Adventure's Infinity, it's subjective and stuff, but even though i play only on pc (until i can afford a wii U, i realize the irony since i spent so much on my pc, anyways), i say that this is the prettiest game i've seen this year, and it runs at 60fps 1080p, like a superior elite machine master race game, it's not aways about the polygons.
To be Fair, LBP has a variety of materials to manipulate, and isn't just focused solely around yarn. But if you're talking about the Designs of both Sackboy and Yarn Yoshi, I agree.
Is it just me or does anyone else feel like Jirard never played through the entirety of Kirby's Epic Yarn. The difficulty from the game comes from trying to nab everything in a stage: getting all the collectibles and getting Gold rank. This gets increasingly difficult in later levels. On top of that not dieing can be even worse when your going for gold ranks because It causes you to lose a ton of beads and if you fall down a pit say goodbye to your rank. It is by no means a hard game but its far from boring if you go after everything. Another reason I feel he didn't play it through is that most of yoshi's transformations are ripped right out of Epic Yarn with different looks or slightly changed mechanics. Motorcycle Yoshi is Buggy Kirby Mermaid Yoshi is dolphin Kirby, etc... but he seems really amazed at them for being creative and original. He also didn't mention how much this game built off of Epic Yarn. I could be wrong about this, and I hope Jirard corrects me if so, but it does seem that way.
Dan Bagon I feel like this game while being very fun and enjoyable. Is very similar to Kirby’s Epic Yarn and I don’t like how he puts that game so down when this game is very closely related to one another towards gameplay styles
Never had a Wii or Wii U, but I still have and play my 3DS, even with my Switch. I have Yoshi and Poochy's wooly world and Kirby's extra epic yarn and I adore them both. While not incredibly challenging, I feel they have their own spot in gaming. They're perfect relax games, perfect for an escapist. I like game like that and Animal Crossing etc. While I enjoy tons of other combat-centric games, these games are fun to play, enjoyable to look at and explore, and will give you nostalgic goodness every time you turn them on. They're perfect for after work and before bed when I just need to decompress from my day and need a distraction that won't ramp up my adrenaline. They're beautiful games. I wish I got to play these on Wii or Wii U, but Yoshis crafted world on Switch is pretty great too.
Just so you know, this review made my girlfriend and I (who had no intention of getting the game until a later date) run out and buy it. We played it for a couple hours and had a blast! Definitely second this recommendation!
So, you adore this game, yet were bored of Kirby's Epic Yarn? Wha... they are near identical in how they play out. Just one uses Kirby and one uses Yoshi. I'm confused...
An Escapist A game isn't just about difficulty. It was a really inventive and charming game with a stellar soundtrack but I agree it wasn't for everyone.
+Steven Higgins For a gamer like Jirard, he needs the challenge. A game without a challenge is just pointless. Epic Yarn is a fun experience but severely lacking in what Jirard looks for in games.
+ZeldaCraftr I think he was referring to the badge that supposedly reveals secrets in a level. I guess Jirard praises it, despite the powerup not fully doing what it's supposed to do, because it doesn't completely hold your hand and still gives you the satisfaction of finding a secret? I still think it kinda sucks for people who want the clear cut solution but I guess you can't please everyone.
+Joshua Colquhoun The badge will reveal all secrets that you can see on screen. Sometimes there are secrets you cannot see within the camera frame, all you can see is a tiny bit of thread you can unravel or a small hole of a fake wall leading to secret areas or rooms. The power up is helpful for finding stamps, while the Poochy power up is helpful for finding yarn. but neither power up will reveal everything. You still need to go out there, search, and keep your eyes open. To be honest, I sort of enjoy it. The power up is good for getting the majority of collectibles, but if it were to reveal everything, there would be no fun left in exploring.
+kimmychi1 If you want to explore, you don't use the badge. If you want to actually find stuff you use it. If the badge doesn't do what it's supposed to, you cannot hide it behind something it was eliminating. The badge was eliminating exploring, therefore the fact that it doesn't work shouldn't be excused by saying "it encourages exploring".
+Konradix05 But, the badge does do what it says it does. It reveals all the secrets........ ...On screen. But yeah, going back to video, I think Jirard saying "well-designed" may not have been the right word to use. Maybe more like...trolly?
+Gmaniac01 He played Chrono Trigger. He and Jesse Cox livestreamed the game a few weeks ago in a 24 hour marathon stream for its anniversary. Completing Xenoblade is a gargantuan task; hell, it took Chuggaaconroy over 100 hours of playtime in order to showcase everything in the game, with the use of several guides: the bonus bosses, rare drops, all the heart-to-hearts, completely rebuilding Colony 6...the game is HUGE. Researching everything you need to do in the game alone can take probably a dozen hours.
I was a bit hesitant about this game until I saw this video, not being a huge fan of Yoshi Island's difficultly. This looks like a more challenging Yoshi's Story with an awesome aesthetic. I might get this one day.
Awesome video! I play yoshi's wooly world with my 4 year old daughter as a way to introduce her to these games I love so much. My 10 month old then watches on, completely happy and smiling with the soft acoustic soundtrack and awesome detailed yarn world it presents. Thank goodness for Nintendo and these games!
I thought Kirby's Epic Yarn was much better than Kirby 64. They didn't even try with a lot of 64, a lot of the enemies just looked like random paint splotches with eyes and the one boss with the random colored shapes that looked like environmental rejects from Star Fox made me think my copy of the game was glitched. It was graphically unappealing with bland environments that looked like each level was just one 2-second section copy/pasted 100 times with the same exact enemy placement to boot. And most importantly, Epic Yarn actually had the fun factor that 64 lacked.
I call these games the realistic series. Where they make the game look like something from our world and then make really small gimmicks out of it like for example Yoshi being able to eat and unravel yarn to reveal new areas. Small things like that put in every level.
The Shyguy is figuratively chilling (he is not cold, nor is he making something else cold). Every time someone uses the word "literally" incorrectly, I figuratively go insane.
I have 2 complaints about this review: 1. That opening section of the review about Epic Yarn, Epic Yarn is suppose to be easy and no it isn't because it is Kirby, Kirby was just slap on the cover to sell copies, similar to Star Fox Adventures. Also their is a challenge in Epic Yarn, getting through it with a gold medal, getting all of the treasures, and doing all the side content with the apartment people is not that easy. This was always meant to be a Yoshi game, while Epic Yarn was it's own thing. 2. You can not blame Nintendo/creators of this game of the Pokémon Amiibo not working, Game Freak and the Pokémon company doesn't allows Nintendo to do what they want with the characters. The fact that Nintendo can get permission from Sega, Capcom, and Namco to use their Amiibo in Nintendo games is up to those companies, and they allow it, while the Pokémon is WAY to protective of their franchise.
8:50 - Under the String! Under the String! Down where it's softer, so much darn laughter these tickles will bring! Your skin caressed by such tiny locks, just watch for for the static shocks! Can't get enoughy of such wooly fluffy! Under the String!
Seeing all the extra collectible content in certain Nintendo games just reminds me that Nintendo to adopt some form of Achievement/Trophy system in their platforms
An absolutely spot on review of the game. When I 100% the game a few months ago being in Europe, I got the exact feelings Jirard got when playing. This is an awesome game with so much creativity, well hidden secrets, adorable yarn visuals and an amazing soundtrack with so much variety. Do not pass up this game if you like the look of it. Anyone in the comment section who is acting strange saying its identical to Epic Yarn, just another 2d platformer or some other comment regarding unrelated Nintendo policies, this game is solid and one of the biggest surprises of the year. Its a delight to play and it really stuck with me for being so charming and well designed.
I'm glad it turned out to be a really awesome experience. I can't really see myself playing it anytime in the near future the but visual aesthetic for it is beyond amazing. Anybody who picks up this game in the near future will definitely get their money's worth.
this is what i love about nintendo: they keep it fresh by makeing certain things unlockable by doing seemingly impossible things "stages skins ect" without makeing people buy dlc unlike microsoft or sony
I haven't had a whole lot of time to play this game, but what I have played has made me incredibly happy. For sure one of the most adorable games ever.

My 18 month old son LOVES Yoshi's Story and the Yoshi Woolly World shorts. I think its too adorable. I plan to get Yoshi's Crafted World
So what I gather is that Jirard missed all the beautiful design touches in Kirby's Epic Yarn because it wasn't hard enough?
I'm late, but Jirry said that Kirby's Epic Yarn was very easy on the eyes, I paraphrase of course. He loved the appearance but not the experience.
Plus, Epic Yarn's visual style was nowhere as elaborated as Woolly World's
He can have his own opinion
I love kirby's epic yarn! I found it good to be easy but if you wanted to complete it %100 like you always do, I see a bit of a challenge but not too much. I think it's fantastic.

Epic yarn was my favorite game of all time.
Lucky Hamburger Was? What's your favorite game now? I'm excited it's coming to to the 3DS!
I'm buying this game tomorrow so its great to hear people are loving this game

I-it's so clear now... thank you
10 Question scientists still can't answer
I'm going to consider this as a Disney game with Yoshi's
Hey jirard, could you do a top ten favourite games of all time list? I love those
I can't get over the singing Yoshis. That's the cutest thing ever,
I really enjoyed Kirby´s Epic Yarn though :(
So glad you did this review for the game's release, you're the one who convinced me to get my current GotY.
Wait? You already finished?!
+Veranio it came out in europe like 3 months ago pal
+Mr. Marowak but he lives in the states, but I believe he got a early copy
+Mr. Marowak Don't call him pal, buddy.
+RazorHog don't call him buddy, friend
+Quote_Plays don't call him friend bro
Just so you know, this review made my girlfriend and I (who had no intention of getting the game until a later date) run out and buy it. We played it for a couple hours and had a blast! Definitely second this recommendation!
So, you adore this game, yet were bored of Kirby's Epic Yarn?
Wha... they are near identical in how they play out. Just one uses Kirby and one uses Yoshi. I'm confused...
+ThornsOfSerenity I have to purchase Kirby's Epic Yarn to identify any differences... but for one; you can die in Yoshi's Wooly World.
This isn't like Epic Yarn. This plays more like a traditional Yoshi game.
Epic Yarn was so lame.
Yoshi's Wooly World is my second favorite game of the year. Bloodborne is my first, based on many criteria, but this game is pure Nintendo magic.
don't you talk crap about kirby's epic yarn! it was awesome and creative!
It sucked.
I have never heard the Completionist so happy about a game before!
Hold the fucking phone. A powerup doesn't do what it actually says it does and Jirard praises that as a hallmark of good design? Eh?
+Joshua Colquhoun Yeah, literally what.
The "I'm in!" Mermaid scene got me. XD . _. Yarn of War Dog shall be in the making.
I almost unsubscribed after what you said about kirby's epic yarn.
idc
Ikr epic yarn is amazing
MadKingChristopher ha thats funny
Who cares fanboy and in the words of chef ramsay "PISS OFF"!!!! getting all butthurt over a video game
@@viciousthrill7103 This is something called a comment section, where you are free to post any opinion you choose.
I LOVED Kirby’s epic yarn okay!?!?!
I'd like to see Jirard try to complete Xenoblade Chronicles X when it comes out in December. That'll be quite a watch.
It would take him probably 300 hours to 100% complete that game. That's a game you just need to take your time with.
+shunkwugga Would Jirard, if he chose Xenoblade 1( is it 1?), would he have to do the 3DS, as it has more content? Would he have to do both?
D.A.R The Wii Version would Suffice.
Gmaniac01
Ah, thanks.
I was a bit hesitant about this game until I saw this video, not being a huge fan of Yoshi Island's difficultly. This looks like a more challenging Yoshi's Story with an awesome aesthetic. I might get this one day.
"EVERYTHING IN THIS GAME IS MADE OUT OF YARN!!!!"
What about those gems tho...
This video gave me tears of joy because of how freaking cute everything is.
Review Pikmin 3 please!
+Cyclops_ yes!
He even played Sliver Lake Remix with Chugga, so its possible!
The levels in this game feel like they would fit perfectly in a Kirby game. I loved it!
probably because I love kirby's epic yarn...
Im hyped for your MGSV episode, Jirard! (Whenever that is)
_He has only done MGS1 so far._
+5nesta well he better get cooking then.
+Roronoa Uchiha (Donutguy12) I want to see his reaction to mgs2.
I initially ignored this game as it just looked like another epic yarn, but after watching this review, I WANT THE GAME!
Get ready for Metroid Drywall next year
This is easily my FAVORITE game of all time
I have 2 complaints about this review:

Games like these makes me really want a Wii U
30 views & 67 likes? ummm.... okay?
These comments are stupid
now it makes even less sense since the video now 67 with259 likes
+All Mighty Pixel
Mine says 63 views and 341 likes.
+Dames6887 You can like a video at any time but the video only gains a view if you watch the majority of it.
Just got Yoshi's Woolly World bundle that comes with a green yarn Yoshi! First time I've gotten a Wii U game in 50 million years!
How do you not like kirbys epic yarn
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)!)!
I love this game. I listen to the soundtrack all the time, it's so relaxing and nostalgic.
Merman Jirard, Merman.
Seeing all the extra collectible content in certain Nintendo games just reminds me that Nintendo to adopt some form of Achievement/Trophy system in their platforms
DID YOU JUST SAY KIRBYS EPIC YARN IS FUCKING BORING!!!
Yes. He did.
xXSwagMaster DudeXx triggered
This is too adorable, I love yoshi more than ever now
Let's hope there isn't a white yoshi in this game, eh guys? ;)
OH MY GOD ALL THE DIFFERENT COLORED YOSHIS!!! I NEED THIS GAME!!
Dislike for dissing Epic Yarn.
realar same
An absolutely spot on review of the game. Its a delight to play and it really stuck with me for being so charming and well designed.
this game (specifically the 3ds version) is one of my favourite games of all time, as it was also the first game i ever 100% completed,
I still cannot believe this hasn’t had a switch port. I know we have Crafted World.. but this game is SO excellent
I honestly loved Kirby's epic yarn I don't know about everyone else
Yoshi's Island is like one of the best games ever
I'm glad it turned out to be a really awesome experience. I can't really see myself playing it anytime in the near future the but visual aesthetic for it is beyond amazing. Anybody who picks up this game in the near future will definitely get their money's worth.
this is what i love about nintendo: they keep it fresh by makeing certain things unlockable by doing seemingly impossible things "stages skins ect" without makeing people buy dlc unlike microsoft or sony
