Just wanted to say: you could have left your Amiibo in their boxes and still used them. If you use a knife or boxcutter to open the bottom of the box you'll see a silver sticker. If you peel this sticker off you can use the Amiibo without ever having to take it out of it's box thus making it look as though your Amiibo have never been opened. Better late than never?
Destroying the box is stupid might as well just open it then... the point of not wanting to open them is so they retain value. Cutting a hole in it defeats the purpose.

Zachary Erickson what? no... Minecraft is a lot different from source engine... Minecraft uses no skyboxes/preset stuff, but random generation. hammer makes preset maps, but allow for a lot of complicated circuits and stuff.
Hard mode these days is HORRIBLE. The levels aren't just hard, they're UNPLAYABLE. With hidden blocks making you fall, hidden exits that only the 2-year-old creator would know, and swarms of hammer bros, you can't say you've completed it until you've beaten hard mode. Because playing the same 50 levels is just unfair.
Because there's a finite number of combinations of tiles you can make to make a Mario level, which gets even smaller if you only count levels that can be completed. This number IS very large, but not infinite.

"Bawww, amiibos = microtransactions, bawww, Wii U doesn't have enough first-person shooters." Seriously, honest to god, this game is what convinced my family to buy a Wii U. There are SO many good games on it, and I LOVE the idea of amiibos being an actual, physical thing that unlocks bonus content across MULTIPLE games. The only game I'm even remotely interested in on a "competing" console is Kingdom Hearts 3.

+antilles58 the reason why nothing in Mario Maker will compare to Kaizo is because Kaizo was made using Mario World to it's fullest. You can't exactly get that with Mario Maker since it comes with SMB1, 3, World, and U and changed some things. (Like the spin jumping on saws) Kaizo wasn't made to be a "Troll game" it was made to be pixel perfect. To show off mastery of a game. It was made to be more like a puzzle game. Mario Maker, while a great tool for level creation, will not touch upon what one can do with rom hacking or even with something like Super Mario Bros X. but even with all that said, I feel Mario Maker is still a great game and creativity tool.
Four years later nearly to the day, Mario Maker 2 has been out for a few months and has blown its predecessor out of the water. There is only one real reason to go back to the original, and that would be amiibo costumes.

Well there is no TRUE way to fix that, and even then it would kind-of ruin the point of user created content. It's something you unfortunately just have to get through in order to enjoy the good stuff.
the one thing I can't stand about the game is that it gates all the unlocks needlessly. I'd rather have everything at the start than be forced to work with limited tools. the fact that the main fucking menu is unlocked by finishing the tutorial is what really got me.

dare i say that this maybe one of the best video games ever created? i was born the same year that Nintendo released their Nintendo Entertainment System, but it wasn't until 3-4yrs after that i had my first encounter with the console. i remember it like it was yesterday. i walked into my friends house and in the livingroom, every, kids, even adult were sitting around the tv while everyone took turns playing Super Mario Bros 3. i even remember the world i first say. world 1-2. all i can remember is how green it was. if this game isn't as great as it seems it will be at least nostalgic for those 30 or older. thanks Nintendo.

The game doesn't check for updates if you start it using the quick menu on the Gamepad. You have to open it in the main menu. Also you might want to check for a system update.
+Anthony Coolasheck I'm not sure what's wrong. If you have version 1.01 already there's no need for a system update. One more thing though: you have to spend time in the editor itself, not playing levels. It can take up to 2 hours before the next chunk of items arrives.
I'm surprised to not see any comments by now pointing out that you don't necessarily have to wait day to day to unlock every build asset. You can just keep working in the level maker for a few hours. If you draw a bunch of stuff, not even trying to actually make a level just placing everything you can, you'll unlock each tier of assets after a while.
the coolest part is that after the realease of the game, nintendo added more of there own levels. They are all really difficult, but if you beat them you get special costumes that you cant get anywhere else!

Second, you don't need to wait anymore, day one patch, amiibo are only optional, you don't need them, but it's good to have.
And third, there are a shit ton of good games for the WiiU, to criticize the WiiU for Super Mario Maker is dumb, same like I said PS4 sucks because it has Destiny.

+chiquilio Nope. Nintendo blocked the ability to scan amiibo in package by applying a foil sticker inside the plastic tray near the amiibo's base, which is where the NFC is located.

+chiquilio Yeah, there's a display at most Wal-marts and Targets where you can just put the box on a pedestal and it shows you a clip about the character. Granted, It's usually Skylanders, not Amiibos.
+Mimu Mi Wouldn't that defeat the purpose of having the figure still in the packaging, though? I imagine the reason to keep the box intact is to retain it's value, which would plummet if the box was cut.

dare i say that this maybe one of the best video games ever created? i was born the same year that Nintendo released their Nintendo Entertainment System, but it wasn't until 3-4yrs after that i had my first encounter with the console. i remember it like it was yesterday. i walked into my friends house and in the livingroom, every, kids, even adult were sitting around the tv while everyone took turns playing Super Mario Bros 3. i even remember the world i first say. world 1-2. all i can remember is how green it was. if this game isn't as great as it seems it will be at least nostalgic for those 30 or older. thanks Nintendo.

Update via the eShop, if I'm right.
The game doesn't check for updates if you start it using the quick menu on the Gamepad. You have to open it in the main menu. Also you might want to check for a system update.

+Anthony Coolasheck I'm not sure what's wrong. If you have version 1.01 already there's no need for a system update. One more thing though: you have to spend time in the editor itself, not playing levels. It can take up to 2 hours before the next chunk of items arrives.

I'm surprised to not see any comments by now pointing out that you don't necessarily have to wait day to day to unlock every build asset. You can just keep working in the level maker for a few hours. If you draw a bunch of stuff, not even trying to actually make a level just placing everything you can, you'll unlock each tier of assets after a while.

the coolest part is that after the realease of the game, nintendo added more of there own levels. They are all really difficult, but if you beat them you get special costumes that you cant get anywhere else!

Little big planet wasn't the first level creator. It's just a simple way to make awesome mario levels.
The platforming isn't garbage in Mario Maker.

Mario Maker isn't bigger technically, Mario Maker just uses pre-created objects. LittleBigPlanet uses materials and modular creation.
