Now obviously it’s too late and doesn’t serve for anything, but then and there she needed to know what her own poor actions led to. I really don’t get all these people that in keeping silent, take away the responsibility from the other person. People need to know and take responsibility, so that they can learn from their own poor behavior.
@@LinneAzalea I get what your point of view is, but what exactly would it have done to teach her any further sort of lesson? Right after their mother dies, he says "Hey, just so you know, mom had a life insurance policy for us but because you were strung out on drugs and stole her purse we lost it all". Would that have actually taught his little sister a lesson, or would it have likely sent a newly sober person who's already dealing with the grief of losing their mother back over the edge to addiction and depression? Again, I get that people need to learn to take responsibility for their actions but telling her that would have only provided a negative for everyone involved - because it would have also caused every other sibling in that family to look at her with disdain all over again. They'd all despise her. None of that actually makes their situation any better.
Her family were literal angels to her, she doesn't deserve them at all.

Ashy Bashy kill the Smashy well the councillor is literally going against their LEGAL REQUIREMENTS as a counsellor. I’d flag up this behaviour with the school heads, and if they won’t listen, go higher. Because that is a breach of their duty of care both as an individual with government issued authoritiorial power over minors and as a licensed counsellor.
They’re in breach of contract and their behaviour is putting you (and most certainly other students) in danger. Mental health is precarious, and blaming somebody for being depressed when it’s YOUR JOB TO HELP THEM is disgusting. If you (please don’t my love ❤️) or another student were to lose their battle, that counsellor could go to jail for Premeditated Intention to Cause Harm and Manslaughter. Cases where a person has done stuff like this, consistently put down a depressed person who they KNOW is suicidal, there HAVE been prosecutions. It’s not something rare. Cases in England, Scotland and the US have all ended in convictions. Take it up with the school that this therapist is breaking their vow to help as a mental health professional and is abusing their power. And if the school won’t listen, find a local contact email or phone no for a local MP/Congressman/Mayor/ Head of education/ School Board member. Any of these people. Because that therapist is AWFUL. NO THERAPIST SHOULD SAY ITS YOUR FAULT.

As a former addict who, a lot of the times, stole to get money or drugs, the one about the sick mother and the life insurance policy made me rage. Drugs are not worth it. If you’re currently an addict, think about how the “small” things you’re stealing can have huge consequences
That genuinely made me so livid I almost threw my computer on the ground. My grandmother became an addict during the early stages of the opioid crisis, and although she eventually overcame her addiction, my mom definitely felt the effects when she was trying to raise me as a single parent (hard enough as it is...) with her mom constantly asking to stay with us, stealing thousands of dollars she'd never repay, and she even left oxy in her room a few times that I almost ingested. Some of these really teared at my heartstrings.
But that's the problem. I believe they won't think. Money for the fix before anything else.

Sometimes they do know but don't tell anyone for fear of that exact reaction or having the government step in and take your child away from you. It's very hard to talk about it while you are going through it but years later it's easier to open up about it because it's too late to do anything about those terrible thoughts and never did anything.

It's something you feel you can't talk about because of how others see you for something you have no control over. It's dangerous to talk about it and dangerous to keep silent. It's only excusable if she didn't know it was private though, like she assumed it was school homework or a recipe book and was trying to work out what it was so she knew where to put it. If she read it knowing it was potentially confidential and kept reading it but still didn't disclose reading it it's still a violation of the kid or teen's privacy. If the kid won't tell the parent when they're not doing ok the important thing is to make them feel safe and see their parents as a source of protection and wisdom and help not a source of fear and punishment. Just like adults kids can learn about consequences and responsibility and be empowered to make their own decisions without having to see their parents as the enemy but more as guidance counsellors who empower them. This makes them really think about their decisions when they have real power to effect change and must deal with the consequences. If it starts with feeling agency in the small decisions then they don't end up desperately rebelling as a way to escape/feel free/take control.

My mom knows that i'm a mistake
I was a "happy accident" as my mom puts it. Long story short a doctor told my mom she was sterile. She was devastated as her biggest dream in life was to have a family. My parents stopped using protection. Boom! A wild baby appeared! Then, the same doctor told her I was dead while she was pregnant with me. She broke down, panic attack, go to hospital and stay there for a few days, another doctor comes in and after a bit of researching realises I'm not actually dead. Tells my Mom she's lucky I'm not dead after all of the stress she experienced. Mom cries because she nearly killed me, but is very very happy she didn't. Don't know what happened to the first doctor but I've decided I don't like her

As explained by the doctores the first test result was 96 percentile. My response was "even orangutans score higher than that" the Dr. then explained the new rating a 96 percentile meant that only 4% of the world's population was smarter than me.
In other words instead of keeping a death bed promise to my Mother to take care of my sister and her kids, had I known, I could have prospered instead of now wallowing at the the low end of poverty, alone, as they all crapped all over me when, for the first time in my life, I needed their help after being hit by a car, they all, my family ,best friend walked out leaving me with a cast on my leg from my hip to foot.

I’ll share my story: ( from the perspective of a child) One time I heard my mom sobbing in her room saying that if she could go back and not have kids that she would... now I know why she’s always so mean to us. It’s always been hard especially because she used to barely buy us food, but together as siblings we all made it through and we are very close. Then a year after I learned that I was conceived by accident. To sum things up - I am her least favorite and at first, I was crushed. Especially because I had a terrible childhood, but I’ve learned to accept it.

I don’t have children, but I have siblings. When I was younger my older sister would get high a lot and right after she wouldn’t remember anything. One time she found out we had a huge stash of money in our garage in a small box. It was money being saved for our college education.
My dad told me about it but not my sister, so she stole all of the money and used it on other shit.
I found out and told my dad but we never told her.
One day she was really going off on my dad about why he never saved us any money for college and how she now had to go to a community college and I fucking snapped and yelled at her, saying it was her fault for getting high all the time and spending it all. I haven’t talked to her since.

They need to take responsibility for themselves and make the choice to stop being addicted to whatever substance. Someone who hasn’t made that choice can’t ever improve and become free from their addiction. The OP should definitely NOT apologize. She is NOT responsible for her sister and her sisters poor actions. And especially if the sister wants to play the blame game when she is the one to blame.

We don’t know enough about the situation, no, but my point is that even addicts need to take responsibility for themselves. So to put the responsibility on a younger sister to deal with such an emotionally immature older sister, is too much to ask. We don’t even know how old the OP is, she might still be a minor.
