If they had spent the money to duff rake clear zones around town they could have turned it around early. There is heavy equipment built and used for that purpose. I spent the weekend raking around the cabin for that reason. You try to hack on Grump but just show your own ignorance.

How can MSNBS be talking about wildfires when we are about two-thirds of the way through "Woke Christmas?" They have practically ignored Woke Christmas this year.

In Chicago it is not that bad, a week of 92 instead of 87, it is a little worse but not end of the world, 102 would be a lot worse. The fire this is crazy, cutting lots into a very dry forest and put home there, I wouldn't insure that. Ya, it's like living in a vacation resort in the woods, it's too dry and when will your house burn down with maybe you in it.

I lived in Ruidoso until last November. Most of it is Mescalero Apache Reservation. It's south of the village and wraps around it to the west. Ruidoso is very compact town and most homes are in the ponderosa pines. I knew it was a matter of time this would happen and why I sold my home. One of the best decisions I've made in my life
Forest management. Pull all that dry crap out of there. Then plant Ice Plant in patches everywhere. And let it do its thing. It needs very little moisture. It shouldn't hurt the environment. Then that can be used as a barrier or at least help prevent fires from spreading. If you do the little things now, then they add up to big things that happen down the road. Just an idea. 🤷
Costs money that can go to illegals, bum's, criminals, and their keepers, priorities,man, priorities.
There's about 300,000 square miles of protected and national forest in the US, plus who knows how many privately owned. Pull it out how? With thousands of people on the ground with rakes, and helicopters lifting all the stuff... somewhere? What you're suggesting is a monumental task, and basically impossible considering some of the terrain and weather.
