      Hi,
      Question....This seems pretty simple, thank you for making the step by step tutorial. However, I am wondering after replacing the parts do I need to re-apply new adhesive since I am using a heat gun to destroy the adhesive layer? If yes, Can you provide a link for adhesive or tell me where and what kind I should buy?

    This video really helped me. It was concise. I was afraid of breaking the back glass, so I was really careful and succeeded in opening it without breaking it. The whole process took me less than 60 minutes. I must point out that one must be also careful when heating before opening. I used a hair dryer, and, with a surface thermometer, constantly checked that the phone wouldn't get too hot (not more than 70 degrees Celsius). And I successfully changed the battery. Everything works fine, thank God.

    Thank you for the video. I have challenged Samsung on the inability to change the battery in a similar manner to the Note 3, but just got the corporate answer. I am holding off buying one for this reason, and also due to the lack of memory upgradeability. In Australia we can only get the 32 GB version. My current Note 3 has 5 GB free. It has 64 GB installed! It appears Samsung is going down the IPhone path. I love my Note 3 and was hoping that the Note 5 would not go backwards in some areas.

    Bad move Samsung. The main reason I purchased my S4 over other phones was the easy access and replaceable battery. I use my phone a lot for work and after about 6 or 8 months the battery does not last as long so I replace them on a regular basis. This one simple design flaw will force me to get a different brand of phone. STUPID

      Source? Please don't believe everything you read in social media, even if it's passed on to you by a friend (he/she might be just as clueless). It's just a normal NFC chip, which is used for payment machines, contactless card readers and also for small amounts of phone to phone data transfer (putting them back to back). NFC chips have a range of just a few INCHES (like 4" or less), so that false rumour doesn't even make sense... www.androidcentral.com/psa-chip-your-battery-not-government-surveillance

    I agree that this is a bad feature of the Note 5. It also bothers me, to no end, that there is no SD card slot. The only reason I got the Note 5 is because there was a problem with my Note Edge. That was an excellent phone. But it had technical issues, that they could not correct. So, since it was still under warranty, they offered to replace it. But, there weren't any Note Edges available, because they weren't popular. So, they gave me an 'upgrade', to the Note 5. It was when I got the Note 5, that I became aware of the changes that I didn't care for. I like the Note series, because of the S Pen capabilities. And, I have been very happy with Samsung phones, in general. But, I may have to go a different direction when I replace this one. I'll have to see what else is available, when that time comes. But, I would say that Samsung screwed up, with the changes they made on this model.

No, it's not great that it's not easily replaceable like my Note 3 but I'll do it just to keep my Note 5 healthy and running..... and to avoid paying for a Note 8 while it's just shy of $1000 (ahh)

  • @goobon
    @goobon 8 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    While I agree with most that this is a bad move on Samsung's part, the performance and build quality of this phone makes up so much for it. Replacing the battery seems to be fairly easy as well, definitely less complicated than replacing an Apple devices battery.

    • @ralfg9500
      @ralfg9500 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +iTheGeek definitely right. it doesn't make up for it. why should you go through all these shit, risking to break the glass cover and other parts only to replace a battery. I'm done with samsung phone... I'm not even excited no more about their new phone like the s7. I'd rather go back to iPhone instead of buying samsung with a sealed battery. At least the IOS is more stable than android. the removable battery and the SD card used to make up for all the lags, bad performance we encounter in samsung.

    I damaged the screen taking the battery out. The glue was too strong. It was a cold day. Perhaps charge the battery to warm it up first if your battery can do it. Other wise put in sun or wait for a hot day.

  • @joenewman7474
    @joenewman7474 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Who is going to go through all this trouble (and risk damaging the phone) to change the battery?
    I wanted to get the Note 5, then the Note 8. Then I found out that Samsung did the ultimate in stupidity-they went the non-removable battery route!
    My solution: Avoid both phones and continue to use my old phone.
    I will never buy a phone that does not have a removable battery for the simple reason that battery life on these phones is notoriously short. And I always replace the original battery with a third party's extended life battery.

    the reason why they don't want you to remove the battery is they want to access any phone at will..''they'' can access your phone whether it is on or off but if you remove the battery "they" are screwed also the hackers will be screwed..please if anybody knows how to disconnect and reconnect batteries without much fuss we are waiting for your enlightenment...

      @@donprincoify LOL. Good one. You should consider writing an ad for Samsung. I'd love to see it. "For only $200 more you get this lovely accessory hairdryer." ROTF

    I agree with OMAK. Samsung really flip flopped with the note 5. ..... no extra storage or easily accessible battery etc......plus it looks like an edge knock off.

      Commercial strategy to sell more phones. That is all. Premium has nothing to do with it.

      Yeah, but why not go back to the iphone, If this is what there going to do. That's why I bought a Samsung to begin with, because you could take the back off & change the battery.So again I'll just go back to the iphone. Thanks

    wow talk about a dirty tactic. Make the battery difficult to replace so that if it screws up you have to buy a new phone.

      If you get into electronics, there is a good chance you do. :) As far as the picks and plastic tongs/spatulas they are cheap to buy. The heat gun isn't uncommon. You can buy nozzles for them for this purpose. You will find all the tools also useful for other electronic jobs. The plastic spatulas are very handle if you ever work on motherboards, to avoid issues you would encounter if you were to use metal implements.

      All of these tools come with a replacement battery on Amazon. Or you can buy a kit of these tools on Amazon separately for very little money.

      Hey dummy. You broke your phone because you did NOT follow this video CORRECTLY. If you read the comments on this and other videos you saw the risks and took them anyway. Don't blame others for your failure.
