  • We had hoped to get to the range this weekend and run this new gun through its paces, but Arkansas in February; the weather turned nasty. Still, we wanted to give you at least something on this here gun, so for now we give you our teaser-preview on the KR9 AK style carbine, chambered for 9mm NATO (9x19 Luger).
    The KR9 is manufactured here by Kalashnikov-USA and is an attempt to clone/copy the Russian Izhmash Saiga-9 carbine. In turn, the Saiga-9 is the company's semi-only version of its Vityaz-SN submachinegun, which itself is based on the older PP-19 Bizon. So yeah, got all that?!?!
    In this 1st look & impressions video, we show the new KR9, which after 3 years has made it onto the market, finally.
    We have a lot planned for this AK, so please check back soon.

    Glad to see Kalashnikov-USA is getting up to speed on production. I just hope they can sustain a certain level of quality with the demand that is sure to be placed on them when word gets out(and if these work reliably). If the Vityaz works out, exciting things are potentially ahead for US AK enthusiasts.

    You don't say!?!?! I thought Kalashnikov USA was just some kinda shell corporation, designed to torment and tease american AK lovers. I'm actually really excited about them now, hopefully we will see some great new stuff from Kalashnikov. Now if we can just get someone to make us a Mp-443! One day, One day!!!

      @@misha5670 Plain stupid, you would never catch me doing that with my hard earned money. It's kinda like the people who lose a fortune consulting psychics. Yes they got duped out of their money but I can't really feel bad because how could you be soooo stupid.

      Its their money, they can spend it however they like, But yeah if its a dumb investment like a psychic or HMG, i just can't manage to feel sorry for them. If anything, i have to give some respect to that psychic for being crafty and earning money. The old saying about 'a fool and his money' is oh so true.

    I just got the KP-9, I absolutely love it. Ran a few hundred rounds through it today, not one hiccup. 115gr, 124gr, and 147gr, just chugged right through everything I put in it. I chose this over the AK-V because it’s closer to a direct clone to the Vityez, even with the extra bells and whistles of the PSA (LRBHO, ability to use Scorpion mags, a few hundred dollars cheaper lol). I don’t own a Scorpion so that didn’t matter much to me. I am planning on getting a AK-V also, but think I made the right choice in getting this one first. And if I don’t end up with both, I’ll be glad I have this one. Awesome little pistol!!!

    Pretty sure the stock lock up is correct for vityaz, the parts kit builds and photos I’ve seen online have all locked like that when closed. It may not be the best way, but if it’s original for what a vityaz would have than that’s the way it should be in my opinion. Nice video, by the way. Thanks as usual for the great content.

    The Definitive Arms AKX9 is amazing from my personal experience, just wish they used curved mags but oh well..
    I wonder how that and the PSA version compare to this gun
    I once put a zenit dustcover on the AKX9 and it made the rifle jam like crazy, So I went back to the original dust cover.
    Man Those Bizon look so awesome, what an attractive looking Gun in my opinion.

      Gotta be honest, the main and nearly only reason I was interested in getting one of these KR9s to try out was the whole Saiga-9/Vityaz clone aspect. For just a 9mm AK, my NAK9 'Draco' from Romania has prooven itself dead reliable and fun. The PP19-01 type mags are pretty nice too. They are light, easy to load, and go in/out of the firearm with little force.

  • @carlrobinson8177
    @carlrobinson8177 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Interesting I own the KR-9 it’s like no recoil absolutely a pleasure to shoot. It eat’s up any kind of ammo I put in it, very maneuverable in any scenario you can be in. Only problem I’ve found is magazines, I have to get more.

    Looks like there’s a pistol grip reinforcement plate too. I’ve ordered my KP-9. Should be at my FFL dealer in about a week:)
    Also, you’re probably aware already, but the stock is actually a clone of the Russian Vityaz stock.

    • @misha5670
      @misha5670 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep, it has the plate. Forgot to mention that while doing this one as I was running out of time. I did show it in the 2nd look video that's up on the personal channel now. Yep, internet was saying the Vityaz uses the AK74M stock, but that seems incorrect. Seems like it uses the same stock made for the PP19-02?

    With it being a blow back, I’d want to see how it runs when the barrel is shortened. Because that’s what I’d want it for, a short gun to stow in the truck when I’m cruising around the farm.

    • @misha5670
      @misha5670 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Shouldn't be an issue, since it is a blowback. Worst case, you might have to swap recoil springs but probably not. I bet KUSA uses the same internals for the carbine, pistol, and SBR.

    Going off mag prices from Atlantic the Kalashnikov usa mags are comparable to glock 33rd. Even cheaper than factory Beretta 30rd mags. Got my pistol in today from impact guns. Put 80rds thru it and it ran flawlessly with factory mags. Would have shot more but the pufgun mags wouldn't lock in. Going to do a little fitting and see if i can get them to work. Wish me luck.

    Can you guys test it whether or not the gun can be fired with the stock folded as with the russian Saiga-9 this is impossible due to some pin blocking the trigger for some russian civilian safety reasons

    • @misha5670
      @misha5670 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, it can be fired with stock folded. To be exact, the stock can be folded with the safety off. On the Russian civilian Saiga-9, you can not fold the stock until the safety is placed in the upward position. This is because of how Russia's minimum OAL law is written. I had a Saiga-12 that had the stock-safety block in it. Luckily, it is an easily removed part....just don't tell Putin hehe.

      Really don't know, PSA version doesn't much interest me and Jay hasn't mentioned wanting to get one to try out either. Between the 2 of us, we have a lot of 9mm subguns, so we tend to be pretty choosy which ones we put time+effort into. Only so many hours in a range day, and ammo gets pricy quick as you know. This gun interests us because its a clone of a real Russian issue SMG. Plus KUSA is a new company and its interesting tos ee their quality level and all that.

    Hopeful . Not a very useful "AK " except for possibly home defense use but ....... If it works , great . I think if it can go 1000 -2500 rds ( steel and brass) without fail , it should be good to go for that purpose . I say 1000 -2500 rds because the standards should be much higher on the 7.62x39--5.45 rifles as they would possibly face more use than a 9mm. Looking forward to a test !.

    • @misha5670
      @misha5670 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      a 9mm is a simpler gun w/o as many parts. The cartridge itself is lighter of course, but at the same time, direct-blowback can be harder on things like the rear trunnion. If this were to fail, that would be one of the areas I'd figure would show wear first.
