    My kp9 is now at 4k rds all of which were suppressed. No failures at all, even when extremely dirty from suppressed use. I've replaced the trigger with a modified fime trigger and then modified the stock hammer to be 3lbs pull. Added an extra power recoil spring and replaced furniture with an East German set which is much more solid fitting. My only complaints are top cover had some up/down play which I fixed with a piece of tape and it's extremely gassy suppressed. Like eyes watering and hold your breath gassy.. I'm very happy I spent the extra money for the kp9 over the akv 9..

    I used a No. 9 "O" ring to lock the flash hider down on my KR-9 and that has solved the issue of it walking loose. Other than that issue a very nice, reliable rifle.

    • @misha5670
      @misha5670 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep, my solution was very similar. I do have a suppressor, so wanted to be able to get the MB off if i wanted to fire it silenced, but it always bugs me when devices come loose. That said, ours never came so loose that it was indanger of falling off or anything.

      Figured might as well use some of our shooting clips and just do a followup vid, why not? I wish there was more to really report or talk about, but nope. It is a good gun. Not for everyone I am sure, but for those looking for a milspec level 9mm AK, the KP/KR9 seems hard to beat.

    What kind of cheek rest are you running on that? Just bought a KR9 (gotta wait for distributor cause it was not in stock), and got a Primary Arms RDS and was thinking that would help out. Heard the stock that comes with it is slightly lower that where you are looking down the sights. Im sure experience can vary! Thank you 🙏

    Misha I think the only visual difference between the Saiga 9 and the KR9 is that the magazine dimples on the Saiga are parallel with the bottom of the receiver, while the KR9 dimples are parallel with the top of the receiver.
    Other than that it’s as 1 to 1 as it gets for a US law abiding Saiga 9 clone.

    Took mine to the range for the first time, after 50 rounds, the gas tube latch come loose. It wasn't peen over properly. Mine firing pin protrusion was out of spec, it sticks out too much even with the OOB safety engaged. I was able to fix both of these problem myself, but I think K-USA ought to have paid more attention to such details for the price they are charging.

    • @Wingnut53
      @Wingnut53 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's not at all related to an AR but it is considered a rifle with the 16" barrel, I believe that is what you were asking. The KP9(not pictured here) is essentially the same but has a short barrel and is legally a pistol

  • @polsha115

    I dont know, I felt one up at a gun show, felt kinda chinsy. The stock and handgaurd felt like a airsoft gun

    • @misha5670
      @misha5670 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      And yet, they aren't know for breaking. The stock feels the same as those on an SGL31-84/85 to me. I haven't really noticed any difference aside from the finish beinga bit altered. The handguards are just typical black w/ the heatshield. Nothing special: good or bad. Standard AK types will fit. The pistol grip is a copy of Izhmash's modern one. You can find it on the original SGL12 imports from before 2014's sanctions. While its shape might not be for everyone, I find it actually quite comfortable. Of course tehre again, standard AK pistol grips fit the KP/KR9 so replacement is straight-forward.

    • @polsha115
      @polsha115 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@misha5670 oh yes of course. My main qualm is that the stock felt real thin and I really dint like how the inside edges where nit folded over like other surplus folders I've seen

    • @misha5670
      @misha5670 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      More modern folders from Izhmash don't fold inward either. The steel just ends with a slight ridge at the edge.

    KR9 or MP5?
    I haven't shot the KR9 yet.. so I am biased towards the MP5 and its roller delayed blow back system. First time I shot roller delayed, I couldn't believe how smooth the recoil impulse was.

    • @austinirwin2868
      @austinirwin2868 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have a Zenith ZR5 and I want both or at least trying to convince a buddy to get one of these so I can shoot it. (Edit: I really like the triangle stock on the AK and just convinced myself if I get one it'd be with a 16" barrel/SBR paperwork{eventually})

    • @jaysblades
      @jaysblades 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you want an MP5, nothing but an MP5 will scratch that itch, trust me. MP5s are much smoother than any direct blowback. I'd get an MP5 before I'd get a KR9 (if I had to start my collection from scratch), but the real answer is get both.

    • @Mr.9x19mm
      @Mr.9x19mm 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@jaysblades My first "PCC" I purchased was an MP5 clone (Zenith Z5RS) after the first trip to the shooting range with it, I ordered a POF MP5K reverse stretch! I'll probably end up eventually getting the HK SP5, since HK finally decided to bring in a more authentic version of the MP5 then, maybe a KR9 lol..

  • @partainbanner
    @partainbanner 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Many people have cracked dust covers, poor rivets, furniture fitment, trigger problems, and proprietary mags that are not metal reinforced. You pay a premium for lower quality.
    PSA did it, they made a better version at a lower price and people dont like the idea that a American company has started producing a AK that rivals their foreign counterparts...

    • @jaysblades
      @jaysblades 4 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Many people have had issues? I only know of two with cracked dust covers (out of how many hundreds or thousands of these in the wild now) but regardless it's an issue that is reported to have been corrected after the initial run, plus the problems you've described are cosmetic vs functional. The AKV initially had massive issues that required halting production and redesigning the internals *post release*. It's fine to point out teething issues on a gun, but at least be fair and realistic about it. I entirely disagree with "lower quality."

    • @misha5670
      @misha5670 4 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      The mags are indeed metal reinforced. Question for you, have you shot a KP/KR9?
