What makes Shatter so great is not actually just the hammer. Yes, it hits fast, hard, and cycles quickly like a good hammer weapon should, but Shatter’s drive is what makes that weapon so incredibly deadly. Being able to side-strafe is a rare and powerful ability that very few bots have, and it gives the driver SO many options for maneuvering that other bots simply cannot respond to in time.
TBF, Sub-Zero could have won this, if not should have. It's flipper obviously wasn't working well. Not to take anything away from Shatter brilliant performance by them and always good to see a hammer doing well but if Sub-Zero was working properly I reckon it would have won.
Hammer bots need exceptional designs and top tier drivers to go toe to toe with nearly every other bot design. Shatter and Beta are the only 2 hammer bots that can be dangerous to any other bot. Hammersmith is awesome but only because it is the most durable bot. Ragnarok, Chomp, and others will never be contenders. Launch bots like Sub need to get 1-2 launches in ASAP against better drivers to hopefully disable their weapons, otherwise fights like this happen, and powerful launch bots like Sub Zero or Bronco can end fights in seconds with ring outs.
I wonder what a bot with this maneuverability and a horizontal spinner like tombstone's could do. Hammers are the weakest/most difficult weapons and it still is an amazing bot. Imagine if it could drive around other bots while pointing the spinner at them at all times.

Just because you don't see the damage doesn't mean it's not happening. A lot of the damage most hammer bots try to do is internal, aiming to destroy the somewhat more frail electronics inside through the impact of the hammer.
Oh my god Shatter had an amazing improvement in damage and effectiveness 🤩 if they keep up for the rest of the season, then it's going to be spectacular!
My best bet is that the flipper malfunctioned even before Shatter hit it. They had the best opportunity to flip at the beginning but didn't. I'm thinking the weapons inputs or wiring issues kept it from operating until the end when Shatter keep giving it some very intense percussive maintenance.
Great fight, Shatter was brutal! Logan Davies didn’t stand a chance. Wait Logan Davies is the name of the other bot right? They said it like 8 times…it’s Sub Zero? Who’s that? Odd name change…
Shatter is definitely one of the better hammer-bots out there. That pick concentrates a lot of damage into one small area, and the ablative armor is a cool touch.
Yeah, I think Shatter and Triple Crown (RIP) are the only bots that really used them. Kinda weird that we haven't seen a Tombstone-esque bot putting a set of them on, that could be very interesting to watch if it worked.

Man shatter is literally the best hammer bot. Its doesn't almost yeet itself when it fires its hammer, has staffing movement, and the hammer ACTUALLY DOES DAMAGE, not even the pulveriser does that serious damage to most bots. If there's a few things they may need to improve is making it less likely for the bot to be pushed that easily and to find a way the stickers don't come off that easily lol.
Just because you don't see the damage doesn't mean it's not happening. A lot of the damage most hammer bots try to do is internal, aiming to destroy the somewhat more frail electronics inside through the impact of the hammer.
I would totally enjoy a clash of Shatter Vs Beta after this battle. Two hammer bots with similar looks will be a decent battle!
This is probably the most impressive showing from a hammer boy I’ve seen
I love watching BattleBots with my husband
Oh my god Shatter had an amazing improvement in damage and effectiveness 🤩 if they keep up for the rest of the season, then it's going to be spectacular!
I love how SubZero's lifter impotently fired just as the time expired.
My best bet is that the flipper malfunctioned even before Shatter hit it. They had the best opportunity to flip at the beginning but didn't. I'm thinking the weapons inputs or wiring issues kept it from operating until the end when Shatter keep giving it some very intense percussive maintenance.
I love seeing hammer bots succeed.
Such a good fight. I see why it was cut from the show, but thank god we get to watch it here
shatter is like a modernized version of deadblow
Shatter can beat the wimpy bots. It gets torn up by stronger robots, then the Shatter driver complains, and gets mad at the judges.
That's because he doesn't know what else to do, kind of a spoiled brat when he doesn't get what he wants
shatter hit subzero so often with his hammer just trying to fix their lifter
and i nthe end it worked.. good job shatter :)
If all you have is a hammer, all problems start to look like nails
CRAZY good driving by both teams. Those multi-directional wheels on Shatter are SO good. Whomever is controlling them is insane
One of the best fights!
Subzero's driver saying "it works now" after the timer went out is awfully relatable to most people who have competed in any robotics tournament
This was a really good fight shame it was cut. Imo this should have been in the episode and ribbot vs defender should have been the bonus fight
Chill
That flip right at the end was just the unluckiest timing I’ve ever seen.
We’re just getting started! Lol
Subzero: oh cool my weapon works no-
*match ends*
Very good fight. Shatter stook to its name
The hammer nailed it👌👌
A real shame SubZero's flipper didn't work until the end, kind of makes you wonder what was wrong with it.
this is the first time ive ever actually seen a hammer do anything
Crazy good engineering in shatter, mobility and fire rate top of the line, one of the very few actually dangerous hammers
Yeah it's over engineered, it's designed to look pretty not do damage
Dang, Shatter’s looking powerful, I can see them making the Top 16 again
Or the top 8 again
Najlepszy młociarz wśród robotów! :)
Oh yeah. That "bun" makes him look absolutely fabulous.
are these bonus fight including in score battles
Love it! It would be nice if you included the interview after the fight.
Shatter got shredded in front of Riptide 😂
Great fight, Shatter was brutal! Logan Davies didn’t stand a chance. Wait Logan Davies is the name of the other bot right? They said it like 8 times…it’s Sub Zero? Who’s that? Odd name change…
Shatter is definitely one of the better hammer-bots out there. That pick concentrates a lot of damage into one small area, and the ablative armor is a cool touch.
The angry face in the end, GREAT !
the sharp hammer reminds me of the judge.
How did this not make the episode?! THAT WAS A CLINIC!
Probably cause it was so one sided
@@SleightCreative rusty vs blip, tantrum vs malice and even Madcatter vs yeti were one sided too
I agree. Teams put a lot of money into these bots and rely on sponsors who in turn rely on having their name on tv prior to the fight.
I'm honestly surprised more teams haven't opted for omni wheels.
Yeah, I think Shatter and Triple Crown (RIP) are the only bots that really used them. Kinda weird that we haven't seen a Tombstone-esque bot putting a set of them on, that could be very interesting to watch if it worked.
SubZero this entire round: 🗿
