Ryan and Amanda as the leads could work for a season two, they are both terrific actors. She has the drug, Ryan could make more. From there you have an infinite amount of adventures they could go on.
I'm slightly disappointed Daniela didn't mention to Jason prime that Ryan was claiming to be a mechanic. she would have realised that ryan prime was also abducted and needs help.
I was waiting for Jason to tell her about seeing Max, but then I thought nahh telling her Max was unhappy and struggling would only make her feel terrible & there is nothing she could do. So he just has to hold onto that himself.
I need second season with a version of Amanda and Jason that still traveling through the Multiverse or Jason 2 going after Amanda after Ryan comeback to his reality telling him. Alice Braga and Joel have so much chemistry I almost wanted to Jason 1 to stay with her hahahaha
One way to look at this is there might have been a reality where Jason did choose to stay with her. It shows how compatible she and Jason2 are as they both were able to access the cold fusion world. Hopefully Jason2 is made aware that she is still alive and reunites with her but he will be carrying a lot of emotional baggage.
Agreed. They did a nice job leaving enough open for more, without needing to cliffhang. Thanks for the view & comment, stay with us for more content! 🕵🏻
"Do The Boxes Stay" There's no mention of the boxes manifesting themselves in the other realities, but it appears that is indeed what is happening. For example the box wasnt built in Jason 1's world, but there it is when Jason 2 comes through. We know that the box remains once it has manifested. It doesnt disappear, otherwise they would be trapped in the reality they enter as the box would be gone. People in each reality will question what it is and even try to move it. As per example when it ends up on the freeway, people would see it as it is in quite an obvious location. They would question it and try to move it out off the freeway. And would that mean that another box would manifest itself in exactly the same location if they were to return? Or now that there is a box in that world, regardles of which geo position its in, would they come through the box at whatever location it is in? From what we're told by the characters, it's only Lavender Fairy that allows them, and them only, to enter Super Position and traverse the multiverse. But the box is doing the same you could say. A box gets constructed out of thin air. I wonder if an explanation for this will come in Season 2, if it comes. I would have thought that it would have made more sense that they could only travel to realities where the box had already been built. So no box, no access to that reality. We've also seen that they don't need to be in super position to enter a reality. Once inside, and door closed, their thoughts/minds are the controllers, as we're informed by the characters. Therefore if someone discovers the box and enters into it, closes the door and reopens it after the 3 minute lock period, they could end up in an untoward reality. What would be cool is if the box doesn't enter a random reality when the curious discoverer of the box isn't in super position but instead goes to the last reality entered by whoever was in the box last. That way they end up in the world where the main character(s) last exited and they have the hope/posibility to try to get in touch with them to find their way back to their reality. That would make a great story for season 2. But having said that, there was an episode where they open the door without being in super position (the drug having worn off) yet they still see a different reality. The writers could explain that as, as Lavender Fairy is already in their system the residual drug is enough to allow them to still have access to control the one and only door that is in front of them. Therefore any random stranger discovering the box and entering in, as they have never injected Lavender Fairy and thus don't have any trace of it in their system, closing the door and opening it would only take them to the last reality. Or more simply, it could mean that they can only exit back to their own reality. There are lots of thoughts and ideas to play around with.
A lot to cover there, from what I can tell I agree. Except for the part where you don't need your drug. If you go into the box without it nothing happens, you cannot achieve superposition if your brain is observing. So if someone walks into the box without the drug active in their system nothing happens. If the drug wears off while in the corridor you end up in the last place your mind took you before the drug wore off. So they were thinking of Blair 2 and they ended up there I think we are in agreement 🤝 with the rest lol Great comment! 🕵🏻
Exactly, I could be wrong, but I think they were made more prominent for the TV show. Without them it may have been not enough, but too much gets over stuffed. I agree with ya 🙂
I am glad they did the side characters. When the two were exploring weird and dangerous parallel worlds it hit me how cool the show is because they went wild with it compared to how tame it was in ep 1. When they got to the reality where Blair was and they discovered it was a post-apocaliptic mess because of some strange giant wasps i was thinking "man i hope they do more cooky stuff like that!". It felt like a strange Twilight Zone episode. I feel like they could have done a few more worlds like that before they figured out how to control the box. But still at least we got the weird worlds in 2 episodes. :) Reminded me of Sliders and the weird worlds they visited.
I actually thought that the first Ryan we see at the end (making Lavender Fairy) is Ryan 2 in Jason 2's world, they showed Dawn 2 with her missing fingers in the very next shot. My thinking is : Why would they actually kill the guy they just learned designed the drug? He might be the only one who can make more. Amanda assumed or was told they killed him, but they probably lied to her. I think Leighton 2 had his suspicions about her before she acted, helping him escape. The fact that Leighton 1 was injecting between his fingers makes me think he's used it so much that it wrecked the veins in his arms. So, there's going to be a ton of copies of him as well.
That is an interesting way of looking at Ryan2 as I did not consider the possibility that could be Ryan2 in Velocity Labs2. I was expecting to see Leighton2 as he appeared in the recap. We instead got Dawn2 but it could have easily Dawn2 and Ryan2. Dawn2 looks like she is considering going after Leighton2 and Blair2 looks like she might be heading back home.
@@yngsamsung the show had more detail than the book. It gave secondary characters a storyline that never happened in the book. It mainly followed Jason 1 and Amanda.
I’m sure a lot of this went over my head as I just didn’t pick up on every detail. I thought the finale was perfectly acceptable and wrapped up fairly well. Edgarton and Connelly were brilliant.
Season 2 will be Amanda and Ryan trying to find Jason, because of a break in the causality loop. I envision the other travellers not being able to use the ampules and finding each of in the null space( box hallway) The only way to stop the breaking of the multiverse, would be to have the family go back home.....just a fan fiction take on season 2
I don't think they can ever fix it, because the choice to fix it would branch into a choice to not fix it. And they can't ever meet in the corridor, which is specific to each traveler(s). However I can see Ryan & Amanda being a lead part in S2 & how the box has caused a fundamental shift in society. They could do something really fascinating with it all!
I am happy with show. I am hoping for a season 2 but if they have wrapped up the story here then I am happy with the ending. It was great to see multidimensional sci-fi back on TV again in a big way and I think this show handled the topic very well. Time to explore the book.
For sure, that is all but certainly going to be an issue and in my opinion will alert the government to what is happening. It will be covered up and become a topic for a podcast about conspiracy theories. While other agencies begin to research what the hell just happened and maybe screw it up even worse. But for this shows focus that part isn't really as important.
At 2:20, the narration identifies the Ryan and Amanda who encounter each other in the World 26 Seattle café as “Ryan[1] and Amanda1.” (“World 26” is the script designation the production team give to the utopian version of Chicago (and Seattle in the republic of “Cascadia”), as explained by the author/showrunner Blake Crouch and executive producer Matt Tolmach, in a Collider Interviews video posted a month ago. Those world-numbers simply identify the consecutive order of appearance that each World first makes in the show.) I gather that Screen Sleuths identifies that Amanda as “1” simply because she’s the first Amanda we encounter. I understand the approach, there, but I think it’s a bad idea, because it’s likely to lead to a lot of confusion. In this case, calling the Ryan we see in that Seattle café, “Ryan1”, makes sense, if he is indeed the Ryan from the World of Jason1. (This assumes that it was the utopian World 26 that Jason2 stranded Ryan1 in, and he, Ryan1, has since made his way out from Chicago to Seattle.) But does it make sense to call the Amanda who was native to the World of Jason2 (AND was his girlfriend!), “Amanda1”??? That means we’d be calling the therapist Amanda that Jason2 starts seeing professionally, “Amanda2” . . . even though •she’s• native to the World of Jason1! I think it makes vastly more sense to identify all individuals native to a particular World by the •same• number (assuming we see more than one version of that individual). That consistency will make it far easier to keep it straight just •who• we’re talking about.
I understand your point, but the show labels them by order of appearance so that is what we went with. And honestly I think the majority of people understand that approach. Plus the Audio Description subtitles which Apple provided uses the order of appearance, so it would most likely cause more confusion if two different methods are used when describing the characters. Regardless of which method used the fact still remains these two characters meet in the utopian society, which in the end is really the only part that matters. 👍🏻
Can the boxes be moved or are they quantum-fixated to their location and thus unmovable? What would this cause in realities where they appear on a highway or in the middle of populated areas?
Good question & I am not 100% sure, but I would assume they can be moved physically. Does that mean that box becomes offline from the others in the original point in space time? Does that mean another box will open up in the old spot and the moved box will create a new box in the new spot where they moved it too, I dunno. But as far as what happens when people see it, pretty much what I said in the video, they deal with it. If a UFO lands on the White house lawn we would just deal with it, some realities better than others, but the situation is what it is. The difference here though is the box doesn't do anything unless you have the knowledge and the drug, so without that it becomes a mystery, but nothing more lol
I suspect they can be moved and still be able to rejoin superposition from an alternate location. We got an example of this on tsunami world with the sinking box. Although the box was near the same coordinates, it was sinking from a height. When the next reality was entered, that box was at ground level again. The first usage may cause some to appear in inappropriate locations but it seems they can then be moved to clear locations for future use.
Dying laughing at “Leighton dressed as Captain Crunch” 😂 Thanks for your explanation. For some of us it’s tough to keep all the separate universe characters straight!!
The biggest plot hole is that there should have been a thousand Jason 2’s right behind him. Makes zero sense that a Jason 2 army was not a huge problem well before the Jason 1 army. The biggest gloss over is the fact that the Jason we followed has no more claim to that life than every other Jason 1 there. A random one takes the prize. Also, it makes no sense that almost every other Jason seems so dark in comparison. Sure, some might have been changed due to some kind of trauma, but that much? Many would still be almost identical in personality. Probably most.
The author explained that we only see one J2 to keep the plot from being overly confusing. But J2 went into the box looking for an idea of a reality, not a specific one. He traveled to 100s of them and many may have been fine for what he was looking for. This is different from J1 who was looking for his specific reality. It's not really a plot hole, it just wasn't required in the story. A plot hole would have been that the rules are explicitly different for J2 and he actually doesn't have any variants out there. That last part is subjective, we don't know what they saw or how different they are. The only other Jason we really get to know is beanie Jason who watched his Amanda die after being impaled. Our Jason knows his is okay and happy. Others seemed better than others in the chat. Thanks for the comment!
Also another thing to keep in mind is some viewers believe the reason we do not see box doubles of Jason2 is because he always takes the compound outside the box. Jason/Amanda2 take the compound in the box and that is probably the reason they have box doubles. I suspect this is alluded to at the end of the finale. As the Dessen's exit superposition and Jason closes the door behind them we see the interior of that box re-enter superposition with no visible occupant. I suspect box doubles of the Dessen's now exist in superposition and are also about to enter a new reality.
@@thescreensleuths This would make sense if J2 didn't travelled after finding J1 world, but he did travelled multiple times with Leighton to gain some money. What if that first time they entered in superposition he wasn't fast enought to stop him from opening that door and so on... So yeah there is a massive plot hole.
The hundreds of Jasons made No Sense. ‘They all figured out the box’? When J2 traveled throughout, the others followed him? They were living in their respective ‘times’…why would they have the need or the knowledge to go into the box? Someone promised them the Greatest Daniela of all time? It took it into a Ridiculous notion. Should never have gone there!
Likely Ryan & Amanda were in the same world. Ryan knew about the box & the need for his drug ... and obviously would have figured out how to made it. Of course he would have ... check out the Jason & Ryan as well as Layton of this world and if anybody was developing the tech. Also he knew about the need to mentally prepare to travel ( ie a psychologist) and any mysterious disappearances that can linked to traveling between worlds. In short ... Ryan 1 is smart enough to figure out how to get back to his world, and assuming they are in the same world, this Amanda is very rich and mysteriously disappeared.
Yeah they are in the same world for sure, we knew that ep7. You're definitely right there. The question is does Ryan want to go back or is he more into going deeper down the rabbit 🕳️.
Interesting colour choices of the clothing in the cold fusion world. Notice Ryan in the lavender coloured cardigan. Could it be a subtle hint that this Ryan does not belong? Could it also be the whereabouts of his double are unknown in this world which is why Jason2 left him there? This would allow him to also assume his doubles identity similar to Amanda2.
If they built a freeway in that location in that reality then that's where The Box will be 😵💫 And in that case it's going to be a big deal & be investigated. But that still doesn't mean they would for sure understand what they are looking at.
Makes sense & something I didn't bring up was we haven't seen an "evil" Ryan. This Ryan may be more like J2, maybe not evil, but more malicious in nature.
So the AD identified the Amanda that Ryan met as "Amanda 1"? That means that the number designation is merely by when a character appears and has nothing to do with the universe they came from.
I would say so as AD also identifies Captain Crunch Leighton as Leighton3 but this appears to be Leighton as Leighton3 (no hair dye) was in the lab where Amanda3 got terminated.
It left a huge plot holes what is that detective going to do with all those Jason’s ? Do all the Jason’s disappear? Do they all step in the box and disperse what is Jason 2 going to do ,what about mechanic Ryan
None of those are plot holes. We may want a clean answer, but there isn't one. That reality is forever changed, this revelation will either change their world or be a story on a conspiracy podcast people talk about. If they have enough ampules sure they could leave, if not they stay and fight, live on their own or become lab rats. The advent of the box may have just ushered in a whole new age in human history where this sort of thing is now possible.
I agree. Although this is one of my fav shows of the season, the ending had three glaring flaws-that could have been resolved with a little creative flashback/editing. First, there needed to be more to the scene of Blair in the house with the two Jasons-after she got the gun. We never find out WHY she let Evil Jason go, or give him the car track code. We, the viewer had to imagine what happened. Second, the conversion of Evil Jason. Again, the viewer must imagine or infer that after his beat-down by Scar Jason in the basement, Evil Jason “realized his mistakes” and became a good guy. Poppycock! This guy has done some evil stuff, and a little beating (though deserved) isn’t going to instantly make him a new man. Especially, after he rejected a path towards redemption in the analysis session with the Amanda in Jason1’s world. The story just didn’t “sell” it. Similarly, the decision by the Group of Jasons to just accept Daniela’s decision (that she told them in the chat) that she had picked her Jason. These 100 or more Jasons were all living for One Thing: Daniela & Charlie. There really is NO reason for any of them to exist, without Daniela & Charlie. So, no: they would NOT have accepted her decision. What I would have liked to see was the scene at the Box, when Jason1 Prime & Daniela & Charlie arrive-for there to be a mad scramble by ALL the Jasons to grab Daniela & Charlie, to try to take them away for themselves. This would have been chaotic & violent, with people getting smashed, injured, and killed. Plus, Daniela & Charlie would have been roughed-up/minor injuries. THEN, Daniela could have yelled STOP…and that would have been the turning-point for the Jason1 Clones. I really wanted a more physical resolution of the Daniela & Charlie decision to go with Jason1 Prime. The 100 Jasons are sad figures, left without meaning, and we needed to see more of them attempting to grasp for a meaningful life. [I guess I just created “Fan Fiction”]
@117Derek I have to disagree, I didn't see any of these as flaws, especially not of any real consequence. They could have been more specific on what happened to Blair 1, but she was in control with the gun. I assume they told her the truth-ish and made it sound like she was in trouble with her Jason. But in the grand scheme of the show this is not really important to me. I don't think the beating changed him, it was a gradual process through that episode. I think it hit him harder when he finds out about his realities Daniella being killed, the Amanda being killed by the tree and seeing the chatroom of the chaos he created. All the Jason's spanned the spectrum of his personality. So him being a little more like other Jason's isn't out of character. I enjoyed the arc and think it works better than just killing him off. Same for the Jason's in the end. We are talking about at least a hundred, probably hundreds. There were about 30 in the room. So a very small chunk of them came to this realization. The end scene was reminiscent of the King Solomon baby tale. The real mother would rather lose the baby than let it be hurt, which is what we see here. Jason loves his family so much that he would rather lose them than harm them or kidnap them and force love. We see some that were more violent, some that were logical trying to come up with plans for a lottery & shared custody and some that were selfless. A mob of Jason's makes them all devolve into basically J2s, only caring about themselves. I don't think it was a perfect ending, but I don't agree that those were flaws, with the exception of Blair, which could have had an extra scene. Thanks for the good conversation per usual!! 🕵🏻
@@thescreensleuthsBravo dude u nailed it. I was really thinking bout all of the possible flaws that that guy was sayin in his comment but u just killed it, all of it & I agree with it.
Each book Dark Matter, Recursion and Upgrade were all stand-alone books that had no relation to each other and I think this is the patch that they need to take with a second series a stand-alone series that has no bearing on the first one. I've read all three books and I would recommend anybody who's watched the series to read the book. Blake was the executive producer of the series and it was as close to the book as you could get.
I think Ryan 1 had a relationship with the Amanda that was Jason 2s therapist in Jason 1world. My theory comes from certain things in those sessions when they talked
Ryan 1 doesn't know Amanda 1 from his world, or he would've implied so instead of saying "no" when she asked if he knew her. The Amanda from his world knows nothing of him, or she would've known Jason 1 as well as recognize Jason 2 during their therapies. Ryan 1 and Jason 1 were very close friends enough to be known by their respective S/O. Jason 2 had a falling out with his Ryan 2 years before he would've met Amanda. We can gather that from when Jason 1 finds that worlds Daniela and Ryan before he explains to them what's going on. As well as Amanda 2 having to ask if he knew who she was, which implied she also does not know him. If you go and watch when Ryan 1 gets stranded in that Utopian Chicago Jason 2 was thinking about a place a friend would like. Since Jason 2 and his Ryan aren't friends in his world, we can guess he was talking about his Amanda. This is later backed up by when Jason 1 and Amanda 2 appear in this world because it was Amanda 2 who chose it. I hope that makes sense ? Sorry for the long post lol
The box didn't leave when Jason2 left world 1 to get gt another Ryan, because Jason1 was still away and would need a way back, likewise, Ryan1 was also away.
What's the difference, someone is always away or in a reality. Either way the box wouldn't disappear ever if everyone ever needs to be back in their original reality. The author recently clarified, that they stay.
How come OG Jason created copies but Jason 2 didn't create any? If Jason 2 did create them, wouldn't at least one of them return to his original world? He's been missing for a year so I'd assume he used the box thousands times.
The author clarified this, saying he only has one J2 in the story so it doesn't become overly confusing. But yes in theory J2 says he took the drug over 100x, so there are for sure versions of him out there. I always say that J2 was looking for an idea, not a specific reality. So there are probably many that would suit his needs, whereas J1 was looking for one specific reality, hence they all found their way back.
But see there’s a big loophole that I couldn’t stop thinking about when watching episode 9 and seeing all the Jason’s. Shouldn’t at least some be accompanied by Amanda??? I don’t buy the “oh if I join you it won’t help you find your home bs”. Jason 2 was traveling through the multiverse like the flash and returning to Jason 1s world while having visitors!
@@JimboReturns how? Jason 2 did it with people who had zero experience. There’s no way Jason 2 is simply telling them, clear your mind and then we are good. Jason 1 couldn’t do that though. It doesn’t make sense
@boristeplitskiy7632 I agree that the likelihood that J1 could have found his way back to his reality with Amanda is incredibly low. She cannot focus on a place she has never been & she never cleared her mind. She even alluded to this in their final dinner scene & with Blair2 asking her what reality she wanted to find. J2 only traveled 2xs with people that were awake, once with Leighton & once with Ryan1. So with his experience being much more extensive this would make sense. I think Amanda was keeping J1 from getting home without even knowing it until the end. But she did help J1 by telling him he needed to go much deeper into his feelings, not the surface level stuff that could pertain to countless other similar realities.
Hey! It matters because They are telling a story. They have locked up 9 hours of our lives and they have left things hanging. Yes we have to wait till season 2 but it would have been nice if they would have had 10 episodes or timed it out so that they could give us a little bit more information. Also, your theory on how Ryan found her doesn't really track. And unless I looked away, when did we see two Ryans in the same reality?
The story was about the family, which they told & wrapped up. The other side story lines may be fun, but ultimately do not matter. We already know what happened to the Jason's, there aren't that many options, same with the other travelers. More screen time for Leighton to travel or to see a cop find one of the bodies, eh it confirms what we know & didn't need to be shown, unless they are going to dive in to that story, which they aren't. We don't see another Ryan, but logic would stand to reason that another one exists there. We have seen multiple versions of him already. J2 even tells Ryan when he leaves him that there are many Ryan's out there.
@@thescreensleuths I agree, the story is about the family. However.... It's a very interesting story and when you have that many remainders dangling from that story as a science fiction fan, it would be great to have an ending or a path for those remainders. I just personally hate stories that don't give a completed ending. My point of view is, you're creating a work of fiction, have a good ending I didn't like this season 1 ending. Also because why did the family have to leave? They didn't have to leave. All the other guys could have gotten back into the box and left a different reality. In the end, they all accepted her decision. So they should not have needed to leave
@russt9478 I think what we see as a completed ending is different. I thought there were no loose threads at the end. With the exception of Ryan & Amanda, which is more of a cliffhanger. Because I'm not sure there is anything I don't know what happened, even without explicitly telling me How did they not have to leave? There were over 100 Jason's, maybe more and we saw about 40 ampules. So they would need to find a lot of extra ampules. And that's saying that all the Jason's would just leave, which clearly wasn't going to happen. One of them at the end was shooting into the car. The last scene only had about 30 of them and even they were struggling with their choice to give up. There is no way they can safely & confidently live in that reality, PLUS that means that Jason would need to deal with all the potential legal issues of random bodies. The question is why stay and go through all that, when you can guarantee you're safe somewhere else? To each their own, but I thought they wrapped up the story tightly. Not perfect, but pretty darn good.
Thanks for all your videos on “Dark Matter.” As I posted previously, I really like your science-focused analysis & story reviews. Regarding your speculation about the Box, I have to disagree. At this point, this is NO good explanation to the question of “does the box stay there” and can be viewed by other people. To me, the most reasonable answer has to be “No.”. The box cannot just be there in plain sight. So, if there is a future season, I hope the writers comes up with a “only people who were traveling in the box can see it” plot-point. The most interesting thing, moving forward are the following. In a post-finale video interview, the book show runner/author (Blake Crouch) says nothing is finalized about more seasons; and so, they wanted to wrap up as much as possible with these 9 episodes. More importantly, and happily from my perspective, Blake indicated that if there is a season 2, it is likely to focus on Amanda & Ryan. And, the Jason Family Story has run its course-just like in the book. So, a season2 would be totally new material, and not go back or delve too deeply into the storylines of Season1. BTW, Blake says that the #1 question the readers of the book have asked him is: “what happened to Amanda? Is she happy?” Blake said that the fact that Amanda is such a fan favorite wasn’t something he anticipated-but understands. This, again, lead me to believe that the Amanda & Ryan story will be the focus os a Season2-if there is one. Thanks, again, for your reviews.
We see the box stay when J2 leaves, if they disappear then it should have disappeared. We know people that haven't traveled in the box can see the box because everyone can see the box in J1 reality. J2's original box is still there at the very end of the show and people can see it. And even if we assume that is because that's the OG box and one stays put, the box in the wasp world with Blair 2 had a lab built around it. So then that box manifested when when someone traveled there. Then they used it and brought back the bugs. The box doesn't disappear when they are waiting for people to come back. We obviously don't know for sure, but there is no evidence the box disappears. And if it is just a manifestation of the travelers than the environment of the reality they are in should not effect it. Snow, water, etc. But it is shown as real physical object on a few occasions.
@@thescreensleuthsI hear what you’re saying, I just can’t believe that there’s a huge box sitting in buildings, forests, on a bridge-and the people in that world just ignore it, and don’t have it hauled off. This has got to be resolved by the writers, if there’s a second season.
@117Derek they may do that, we only revisit one reality, the utopian. And only about 2 weeks apart so maybe it just didn't pop up on anyone's radar yet. And they pose no imminent threat so they may not be a priority to move. But I agree if there is a S2 I feel like we will see the aftermath of introducing box travel to humanity 👍🏻 which should be awesome!
Why is only one Jason 1 the only one who created an infinite numbers of himself while looking for his wife and son while the other people didn't. If there are Jason 1 is creating a different version of himself shouldn't the other people be doing the same as well?
It's happening to everyone all the time, but not in the Box. Usually when a reality branches off they never meet, but within the Box they are. The reason we didn't see J2 do it is because the author said he wanted to keep the plot less confusing.
I am very disappointed with the conclusion of episode 9. To me, it was anticlimactic. The only way episode 9 works is if it is a bridge to a second season. Everything was wrapped up too easily and neatly.
I mean I'm theory Jason's would keep coming. But J2 and the other Jason's may decide to leave and whoever stays the seal of the Box. Crazy theory I know 😂
Ryan from the futuristic Chicago most likely was DATING the Amanda who was native to that reality. I also suspect that the green fluid using Leighton was also native of the futuristic Chicago. It's a case where those two guys probably created the Box or saw the Box show up when Jason 2 arrived and they went inside. Either way, when Ryan 1 showed up and tried looking into Chicago Ryan's life, he probably saw all sorts of references to Amanda and he went looking for her and found Amanda 2. He probably doesn't know Amanda 2 is from Jason 2's world, he probably just needs her for access to Chicago Ryan's personal equipment somewhere or he found references to Amanda in Chicago Ryan's work. The other alternate theory is that Chicago Ryan developed a tracking system based on Lavender Fairy and that this system was tripped the moment Amanda 2 started assuming the life of Chicago Amanda. My guess is that their financial cards they use somehow uses biometrics, but not just fingerprints and facial scanning, but also their healthcare system monitors pee & poo content for health scans. This is actually a real-world technology that's slowly being implemented in Japan and eventually the U.S. to monitor all sorts of early warning health indicators. Ryan could have the system look for trace remnants of Lavender Fairy in the water system and track it back to Amanda since she'd already be in the system. When she uses the restroom at the restaurant, it would pop up her specific location and Ryan would go running there to catch her.
Interesting theory. However I don't think there was any green fluid, just the green light after the device finds the vein. They mention that early in the show 👍🏻
Yeh. We need an explanation as to how the box manifests itself in various realities where the box was never built. The box itself doesnt travel or move. It just somehow gets built out of thin air as soon as they (the characters) enter into a reality.
@rick_terscale1111 yeah I'm sure there can spin some sciencey science 😂 There are definitely a few "theories" that could work to answer this if they need to. However I'm not sure they really do need to explain it.
Honestly if we don't ever get a season 2...am good! I did wonder about the boxes in other universes especially the one on the highway 😂 And I guess all the Jason's left behind just have to battle it out like Jet Lee cass there can only be one!!
Exactly. They wrapped it up well and didn't depend on a cliffhanger. And yeah, I think people just expected things to be fixed, but in the end that reality is just the wild west now.
There were always billions of her, box or not. The multiverse existed before the box. She also only went to one other reality from what we can tell, so it wouldn't have the same effect as the Jason's did. But yes 😁👊🏻
J2 dropped off Ryan 1 in a utopian society and most likely to be merciful. Amanda envisioned a society just like that when she wrote down her thoughts. Poof they meet lol
@@thescreensleuths Right but that world is chosen by two different people for 2 different reasons...would not be the same world even if you stretch the logic. I would believe that ryan 1 maybe develops everything himself and figures out a way to find her although....why her?
I mean two different people can both think of a utopian Chicago where everyone is nice and advanced. It wasn't like J2 thought of an incredibly specific scenario that only he would know to think about it. It's also a TV show and needs to continue the plot. I'm not sure why you mean by why her? If Ryan was watching the box for someone else to come through or monitoring the situation then why not her? Why not anyone that comes through that box since they would have an understanding of what is happening.
@@thescreensleuths I understand it's a TV show but they spent half the series explaining how to get a particular world behind a door and how hard it is but then two different people came up with the same place? I can see them each finding a utopia but not the EXACT same one. It's not like J2 knew the exact place she went to when he took ryan there....also why do you assume there is 1 utopia?? Look I LOVED the show but that doesn't mean it didn't have flaws and it's ok if you don't agree with my take. Best show since BEEF honestly. The pacing of the last episode (even though it was still a good ep) and the ryan thing was the only real issue with it imho. Those are tiny things....9/10 for a first season!
Bro you really disaponted me this time i thought you were gonna talk about how the box stayed in superposition after charlie opened the box The box isnt supposed to stay in superposition it's a Quantum mechanics feature of the wave function once you make a measurment which is this case opening the box the wave function should collapse but this time the superposition stayed as if they were insinuating that somehow theres another person there with them that was still in superposition
The hundreds of Jasons make No sense! Ruined the story. They would all be living in their respective ‘times’. Did the follow J2 to the box? How would they even know how to use it? Why would they leave their own time period? Why would they all be looking for the “Perfect Daniela”. J1 had no idea different ‘times’ existed…why would the other Jasons. Ridiculous plot twist.
They are all spawned off the original J1s travels, then on the travels of the others, etc. They all have the same prime reality since they were spawned within the box. All of the Jason's know everything the original Jason knows up to the point the decision was made. And just to be clear there was no time travel, they were traveling the multiverse within their current timeline.
*They explained the box existin in different universes, they were vague but implied that someone made a box in each reality they go to, whether it's Jason or someone else.* 🤟🏽🤙🏽🤟🏽 I hope they explore who made the box in the "prime" reality, but they probably will avoid it in order not to convolute the narrative.
If I were one of the extra Jasons, I would form a “Council of Jasons” in another universe. Maybe build an HQ and call it the Citadel.
Lol they could change their names to Kang & Reed 😂
Agree! And make the Jason of that world their leader.😂
@spinning_data2974 ledger 😂 that is a W right there.
Hahahaaha would be fire
They'd just sit around and play Roy all day
Ryan and Amanda as the leads could work for a season two, they are both terrific actors. She has the drug, Ryan could make more. From there you have an infinite amount of adventures they could go on.
I would definitely watch 🕵🏻👍🏻
🏆
I'm slightly disappointed Daniela didn't mention to Jason prime that Ryan was claiming to be a mechanic. she would have realised that ryan prime was also abducted and needs help.
Ps. JUSTICE FOR RYAN
So true! Only just thought about that too
I was waiting for Jason to tell her about seeing Max, but then I thought nahh telling her Max was unhappy and struggling would only make her feel terrible & there is nothing she could do.
So he just has to hold onto that himself.
That's for season 2. 😉
@@mifyitaad I stinkin hope so!! Justice for Ryan!!
I need second season with a version of Amanda and Jason that still traveling through the Multiverse or Jason 2 going after Amanda after Ryan comeback to his reality telling him. Alice Braga and Joel have so much chemistry I almost wanted to Jason 1 to stay with her hahahaha
I think that ship 🚢 may have sailed, but I was rooting for J1 and Amanda at the restaurant 😂

"Do The Boxes Stay"
There's no mention of the boxes manifesting themselves in the other realities, but it appears that is indeed what is happening.
So they were thinking of Blair 2 and they ended up there
I think we are in agreement 🤝 with the rest lol
Great comment! 🕵🏻
Good point!!!
A solely Ryan & Amanda season 2 would be great. Love your explanation for how Ryan knows this Amanda
I think that would be fun! 👍🏻
Yes! Agreed. The Blair & Leighton stories ARE interesting…but they aren’t the story that THIS season was telling.
Reminded me of Sliders and the weird worlds they visited.
The show ended where the book ended
Yup. I'm sure the author has other ideas 💡 he may want to use. And from what I understand the Ryan & Amanda part is only in the show.
Well that's a short book
@@yngsamsung the show had more detail than the book. It gave secondary characters a storyline that never happened in the book. It mainly followed Jason 1 and Amanda.
Good to know!!
I’m sure a lot of this went over my head as I just didn’t pick up on every detail. I thought the finale was perfectly acceptable and wrapped up fairly well. Edgarton and Connelly were brilliant.
Yup. I very much enjoyed it ☺️
Season 2 will be Amanda and Ryan trying to find Jason, because of a break in the causality loop. I envision the other travellers not being able to use the ampules and finding each of in the null space( box hallway)
The only way to stop the breaking of the multiverse, would be to have the family go back home.....just a fan fiction take on season 2
Surely the authorities would have wanted to know what the hell was going on? They would have found the dead bodies all of the same bloke.
Those world-numbers simply identify the consecutive order of appearance that each World first makes in the show.)
I gather that Screen Sleuths identifies that Amanda as “1” simply because she’s the first Amanda we encounter.
I thought Ryan 1 that got left got left in the same universe at Amanda 1 chose to stay in it had the same city with the auroras above
To my knowledge he did 👍🏻
I thought the same
Especially that Space Needle showed up in the background of the scene.
Amanda1 had already told Jason she would go back to seattle
@@thescreensleuths Of course boxes can be moved, remember the one that sinks.
Dying laughing at “Leighton dressed as Captain Crunch” 😂

@bonedoc4556 I mean he may just not want the track marks, but yes I don't think they have a different one. It's just the green light on the 💉
@@thescreensleuths thanks
I'm not sure what plot hole 🕳️ you are referring to.
Last comment, I so appreciate the “why do we need to know” perspective
What a the box on the freeway 🤔
If they built a freeway in that location in that reality then that's where The Box will be 😵💫
And in that case it's going to be a big deal & be investigated. But that still doesn't mean they would for sure understand what they are looking at.
Thank you for the explanation 👏🏾 👏🏾 👏🏾
Our pleasure! Thanks for the support, stick with us for more 🕵🏻
yep, I do think 'that' universes Ryan had something to do with 'that' universes original Amanda's disappearance
Makes sense & something I didn't bring up was we haven't seen an "evil" Ryan. This Ryan may be more like J2, maybe not evil, but more malicious in nature.
At the end, it was about emotions not sci-fi… good episode.
Agreed 👍🏻👍🏻
So the AD identified the Amanda that Ryan met as "Amanda 1"? That means that the number designation is merely by when a character appears and has nothing to do with the universe they came from.
Correct, she is A1 because she is the first we met and the one we followed.
Same as J1 & J2.
But the other Jason's it doesn't really matter 😂
What an amazing journey, a little bit underwhelming finally but great show!
Very very fun!!!

Thanks for the recommendation! Look forward to the next season 👍🏻
Was that not Ryan 1 and Amanda 2? As in Amanda from Jason 2s reality.
Yes, but the show labels them by the order of appearance. To us viewers she is our first Amanda.
@@thescreensleuths thanks for clarification!
Has any who hasn't used it, other than where it was built ever been shown the boxes?
I'm confused by the question? Sorry
@@thescreensleuths Thank you for the reply
No problem! Thanks for the comment, we love questions & discussion here!
I think Ryan saw Amanda and Jason getting in this universe from the box.
No. If he was with Amanda their is no way he would have found his way back to his reality
Remember, in Jason 1’s universe Leighton gave Jason 2 a lot of money. Maybe they can split it. He got a million per ampule.
💰💰💰
My point of view is, you're creating a work of fiction, have a good ending
I didn't like this season 1 ending.
Because I'm not sure there is anything I don't know what happened, even without explicitly telling me
How did they not have to leave?
Hey to each their own! Well see what's in store for the box.
But they never answered if Schrödinger's cat is alive or not! Did they find it?
😂
Are the Jason’s just gonna keep coming though until the whole world is nothing but Jason’s
They mention that early in the show 👍🏻
Dark Matter Season 2 will be origins of the BOX, so i assumed its prequel
Yeh. We need an explanation as to how the box manifests itself in various realities where the box was never built.
The box itself doesnt travel or move. It just somehow gets built out of thin air as soon as they (the characters) enter into a reality.
@rick_terscale1111 yeah I'm sure there can spin some sciencey science 😂
There are definitely a few "theories" that could work to answer this if they need to.
However I'm not sure they really do need to explain it.
Honestly if we don't ever get a season 2...am good!
I did wonder about the boxes in other universes especially the one on the highway 😂
And I guess all the Jason's left behind just have to battle it out like Jet Lee cass there can only be one!!
Exactly. They wrapped it up well and didn't depend on a cliffhanger.
And yeah, I think people just expected things to be fixed, but in the end that reality is just the wild west now.
but she wasnt missing, she went to seatle.
We don't know what happened to Amanda from that reality. The Amanda we know A1, says she may go to Seattle.
Because Daniella entered the box there are now billions of Daniella's throughout the branching multiverse.
There were always billions of her, box or not. The multiverse existed before the box.
She also only went to one other reality from what we can tell, so it wouldn't have the same effect as the Jason's did.
But yes 😁👊🏻
Only those who have used Lavender fairy can see the box?
They can see the box, but they can't do anything with it.
“In the reality we are in right now” nice try illuminate
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
A little late to the TH-cam party with this one, but we got there lol 🕵🏻👍🏻
@@thescreensleuthswe will gladly wait! Merci
@mulaneyfangirl 🥰
I must be the only one who doesn’t see how Amanda and Ryan ended up in the same world…
J2 dropped off Ryan 1 in a utopian society and most likely to be merciful.
@aw782 to each their own. 👍🏻
Bro you really disaponted me this time i thought you were gonna talk about how the box stayed in superposition after charlie opened the box
The box isnt supposed to stay in superposition it's a Quantum mechanics feature of the wave function once you make a measurment which is this case opening the box the wave function should collapse but this time the superposition stayed as if they were insinuating that somehow theres another person there with them that was still in superposition
*They explained the box existin in different universes, they were vague but implied that someone made a box in each reality they go to, whether it's Jason or someone else.*
🤟🏽🤙🏽🤟🏽
I hope they explore who made the box in the "prime" reality, but they probably will avoid it in order not to convolute the narrative.
Dark Matter, has similar story lines to the shows Fringe and Counterpart. Also two really good Multiverse shows.
Agreed. Loved Fringe 👍🏻👍🏻
Too much explaining, something went wrong,
This show was boring
Well there are many more to try 👍🏻
What happened to almost dead Leighton?
They could use him in a S2, but I assumed he just died. Or ran out of ampules and was stuck somewhere.
