Remember in episode 6 when after the embarassment at the gallery, Jason2 says to Daniela in the car 'I just want you to be happy', and she says 'please, you want you to be happy' Eerily that is the same selfish Jason2 mentality in the finale when he says to bar Jason - 'I just thought that you would love my life'
Yep. Satisfied with this ending; especially if its a SERIES Finale. The moment OG Ryan approaches Amanda 2, "I don't know you but I've been looking for you..." was surprisingly affecting. Awesome live chat yesterday, too! ETA: The multiple Jasons *needing* to contact Daniela. As a woman, the feelings Jennifer Connelly as Daniela was projecting (she - all three leads, actually - is amazing), is almost EXACTLY how you feel when you're being stalked. Massive creepy vibes. OG Jason and Daniela moments: SO WELL DONE. Charlie noticing the parents are gonna need "alone time": Nice. (I think the Ryan attempting to make the ampule juice was Mechanic Ryan)
The ending is somewhat solid "enough" for me... However, giving it real thought the inevitable outcome of opening "the box" is that neither Schrödinger nor Heisenberg came up with the original idea but rather stole the concept from Hephaestus. Hence, the ending is no "solution" for facing a problem of infinite amount.
I also thought it was funny to see all the Jasons in the chat giving themselves numbers, how did they decide which got which number? "I'm number 1!" "No! I'm number 1!"...
It was automated. Whenever they logged-in they get the next number available. In the Books. Prime Jason, when he logged-in into the Chat he was assigned automatically Jason_09
Dark Matter gave us such a satisfying ending. I enjoyed the show a lot, but unlike Sugar (who demands a second season!), it left me with closure and a satisfying feeling after the Finale. Truly love your Podcast coverage! 🤗✌️
I think "bar Jason" (who held J2 captive) was the one they ran over on their way out, he was shooting at the car with all 3 of them in it, aiming for Jason 1 (prime?). I believe he had the beanie and head scar, it was dark though. Jason 2 must have seen his body and grabbed Amanda's necklace. I had a feeling they were not going to show where they went.

Yeah several plot holes need to be answered, but I only wish they would’ve had a news report or something that several bodies of the same person have been found around the city.
Also, they have 40 capsules so they’ll probably go through more than a few worlds to find the perfect one. If this happens, now it creates multiple versions of the entire family this time.
Excellent series and I hope it picks up a season 2. That finale was a perfect ending that doubled as a season finale AND a series finale. Kudos to you all for covering it.
Idk I didn’t feel it was too far fetched, made sense to me that once he was told his world and his friends died because of him, it made it real for him. I feel like before he just saw this all as a game without consequences bc this wasn’t his original world and he could leave at any time. What I didn’t get is why Blair would have let Jason borrow her car knowing he’s possibly been using drugs and doing shit that makes Daniella suspicious and want to leave him.
I knew scarface Jay was going to say Jay 2 was useless. Lol. The beatdown was expected. I think Jay 2 was in contemplative mode since ep 7. I am appreciative of the way it ended, but not me pausing the ep where Charlie opened the door just to see if I could confirm that they ended up in future Euphoria Chicago. 🤣
Ok, been thinking about the multiple Jason problem in that world, maybe Jason 2 goes to utopia world to get Ryan to make enough of the drug to let the multiple Jasons go into the box to find their own worlds. It's the only way I can think of to solve that situation. It's either that or they become reality tv stars...
I love this show and I really enjoy the 3 of you and your commentary. You each bring out a different perspective. My favorite scene from finale was the one w/ Amanda and Ryan. I have a feeling they will all end up in the same world/ reality in S2. Keep up great reviews !!!
Such a good show. Only way I can see a season 2 happing if they son don’t like where they end up and and running away in the box and Jason has to go find him
Great job as always thanks so much for these reviews. I like the idea of a second season that at first focuses in on Ryan trying to get back. Obviously Amanda would be involved all the while Jason and his family are settling in developing a new life on this new world. We then start to be shown that because of all the multiverse jumping being done by Leighton and of course Jason and Amanda. Kind of like the MCU stuff with the multiverse falling apart because of too many people being where they shouldn’t be
Great ending to a great show! I love that it does have an open ending and now I really want a season 2. I was hoping we would see Ryan 1 find Amanda, and now in Utopia world there's loads of the drug. Not sure that Charlie would find Utopia world on his first try though. Also really wondering what happens with Jason 2 and all the other Jasons, how does that work out???
How Season 2 works: It focuses on Jason2 and his redemption arc. He does not know his Amanda is actually alive. He still loves her and misses her... and just took her for granted. He realizes now what he had. So... he probably will go to Ryan and ask for him to make more "lavender fairy" BUT of course Ryan will be pissed and want his help fixing his world or at least finding one that he fits in properly. Amanda will not trust him - so the season will be about trying to re-earn her trust again. We will probably never see Jason 1 and the Fam again. They got their happy ending. But everyone else needs theirs now.
@@TALAIT The presumption at the end of the episode is that Jason2 gave all his remain in ampoules to Jason1, Daniela and Charlie. He has no more ampoules and no means to make more or find more since he got rid of that world's Ryan and can't get back to his own world to get more. So how would be get to Ryan?
@@Cbricklyne Someone in the comments pointed out that there was around 44 ampules when Daniela found them in the storage unit and 40 in the box that he left with Jason 1. So in theory Jason 2 has 4.
I know there is only one original Jason . but for some reason the story doesent work foor me because there are so many alternate Jason one and no alternate Jason 2. . We see him interact with other persons ( like obducting Ryan twice , sending the millionaire on a journey, killing alternate jasons) creating many branches for himself (creating duplicates) . This should affect the allternate Jason1s ending up with different Jason2 altenates. for me this simplification destroys the illusion.
I agree that the ending perfectly left the show as either a satisfying ending or a setup for another season. I’m hoping for a season 2 for sure! I want to know what happens to all of these Jason’s now!
Don't forget Jason One dropped a couple of ampules into Amanda's purse/bag before he left her in Utopia world. A red herring to nowhere? A loose end needing to be tied up? Or a major hint of things to come?
I hope the universe that the family winds up in is the Dark City universe, so that Jennifer Connelly is the same character in both Dark City and Dark Matter. 🤡
I loved the final montage. I would like another season, but I would be fine if it ended. And why aren't there multiple versions of Jason 2, Amanda, Leighton, and Blair wandering around? That part confuses me as to how the split happens.
The big question is,...where are the other copies of Amanda, Leighton1 and Jason 2 They all used the box multiple times and presumably made decisions while they were in superposition in the box, so theoretically they all should have spawned infinite (or almost inifinite) copies of themselves like Jason 1 did. So where are they? We do know that there were other copies of Amanda created,..........but those copies were the creation of Jason 1's decision-making and they went off with whatever copies of Jason where created bu those decisions and we know they existed because of the copies of the Jasons talking about what happened to them (like the one who was killed in the woods). And should Charlie and Daniella now be expecting at least some copies of themselves as well (or at least Charlie, since he's the one who seemingly chose the world they went to and opened the door)? If there is a Season 2, they'd better answer some of these questions and tie up those loose ends.
JASON2 kept at LEAST 2 (possibly 4) ampules. You’re welcome. You can go back and count them in the storage unit when Daniela finds them and compare them to the “40” Jason 2 gives Jason 1 and the Fam.
@@SceneInvadersJules You have to remember the writer of the book is in-charge of the TV show. He will most definitely want to tell Jason2's redemption story in season 2. I have not read the book, but my guess is it ends as this show did probably with the audience assuming Jason 2 is stranded but the show CLEARLY showed us 42-44 ampules in the storage unit with Daniela (Her arm is partly in the way) and the final scenes show he gave J1 and "The Fam" (40) ampules. I LOVE THIS SHOW and I actually never thought Jason2 was pure evil. He just was misguided and felt like that was the life he was owed for sacrificing his life to science to create the box. I totally understand his motivations and he only killed in self defense EVERY TIME. (Whereas the J1s killed proactively...) Very interesting. I also desperately want to see Jason end up with Amanda! (Well J2... or even Bar Jason)
Thanks for your great coverage of "Dark Matters"--and, I'll be with your "Only Murders in the Building" reviews. My overall feeling about the series is that episodes 1-7 were excellent. But, like "A Murder at the End of the World" the finale episode(s) of "Dark Matter" didn't deliver. It's not so much that they left story for a possible next season (which is OK), but there were point in episode 9 that suffered from poor editing: most notably the "missing" scene that shows how Evil Jason was freed by & then partnered with Blair. It's a crucial scene--without Evil Jason's participation, Jason1 Prime, Daniela, and Charlie would not have their Happy Ending. To not show Evil Jason & Blair coming together is inexcusable. I also would have loved a group scene with all the Jasons: discussing & arriving at the decision to respect Daniela's wish, and to let her & Charlie go with Jason1 Prime. It could have been a riveting, emotional, and dramatic scene. Editing-wise, it could have been inserted as a flashback, after Jason1 Prime, Daniela & Charlie arrive at the Box, and see the numerous Jasons waiting for them. IMO, this was a lost opportunity. Finally, the rushed epilogues of Blair, Party Leighton, and Ryan finding Amanda (in Seattle--you can see the "Seattle Needle" out the window) feels tacked-on. Maybe these were "cover" scenes, shot for other possible story narratives, that were not used. Anyway, they fell way short on the impact scale. One note about the very end: after Charlie, Jason1 Prime, and Daniela walk through the door into their New World (that Charlie selected), the camera pulls back--and we/the viewer are left in the corridor, with its infinite number of doors. It's very much the way the show leaves the story narrative: WE have to choose where WE see the story/characters going from here. The writers don't tell us definitively. This visual is cute; but I think it's a cop-out.
"Considering this... " the funniest and least noticed thing is that Jason has a certain prase they all love to say that they say in the chats and episode.
I really enjoyed the show unfortunately I’m very unhappy with ending… too many times good shows have fairytale endings. I was hoping for something like we were watching the wrong jason prime the whole time or something we all couldn’t comprehend because we’re not supposed to understand the fifth dimension. Idk 🤷🏽♂️ All in all, I guess it was a great show because it’s the first time they tapped into this type of story time, but I just wanted more. If they do do a second season, I hope they explain some more of the science of the box and their understanding of the fifth dimension 🚛🫡
@@markstriker925 hopefully that question gets answered in the next couple decades Because I don’t think we truly know the answer as of right now Then again, I’m just a garbageman, I don’t know anything 😅 🫡🚛
I find it kind boggling that so many people don’t understand that no one built the box in other worlds…it appears the moment the traveler opens the door from the inside 🥴🥴everything thing one could possibly want to know is answered by the script with the exception of what the heck was that creature in episode 4?!?!
@@markstriker925 still I won't ever imagine screwing over my wife and son. I rather die than make their lives miserable. The show should have either wrote it out differently or explained why he's all screwed. The book is even more retarded so in comparison. The show did a better job.
Jupiter Jason stating how no one uses cash anymore, they can't use there credit cards or phones and Bar Jason paying for the tab at the bar was the show trolling us. Jason’s choices in the box multiplied him. Blair found a recording of another version of herself coming back with death insects. There is at least one other Velocity boz Amanda and Jason arrived at and witnessed Amanda getting shot before they went through it. Doesn't this mean there are exponential numbers of the other people who went through the box in mutplie universes? Why is Jason and his family going to another universe the solution? If the Jasons agreed the let them go let them go in the box or leave this universe. None of them made it to the Max universe and wanted to stay and stalk them there? There is something more to the Utopoa world Amanda went to and that version of Amanda ended up missing? Are we looking at our Amanda or the Amanda who ends up missing because of Ryan finding her. Danielle had more of a emotional reaction to Jason2 hanging her painting in the gallery than to finding hundreds of versions of her husband chasing her.
If Bar Jason isn't Jason 1, how did he know about Daniella being killed? The original Jason (J1) also spoke about a version of Daniella that he met and was happy. (I assume it was the same Daniella that bar Jason was referring to). how could that be that both of them spoke on the same Daniella? I personally believe that the Daniella that she chose to be with isn't the Jason we've followed from episode 1
I dont remember Ryan having an interest in Amanda. the world that Amanda that we've been following was a world created by her and one of the Jasons. it was a world where she the other version of her wasn't around so how was Ryan able to find that world?
It must be funny, when all those Jason corpses get detected by authorities. And,omeonne sould recognise that a lot more Jasons are still runnung around. As I understand those are only the splitups from rogiginals Jason 1. So all their genetice should be really identical. I'd love to see the news on TV and in the papers about it. :D
The moment Ryan 1 approaches Amanda 2 was hee only thing that disapointed me, very much. It is highly improbable, that those two would find themselves in the same world. I do not like such presents for the viewers corrupting the trustworthiness of a story.
This episode was disappointing to say the least. Boring and very predictable once they got to Charlie’s house. Season 2 I’m guessing is going to happen. I predicted they would go to Amanda’s world and I think that’s where they end up.
This was the weakest episode of the series. The ending was overly simplified. I did like that they opened the door(s) for a second season. In fact, if this was the absolute ending of Dark Matter, I will be greatly disappointed.
So let me get this straight, a happy ending is a terrible ending? Bruh I don't understand humans, humans want happiness but love their chains to misery

I thought the finale was awesome 😎🕺
I really enjoyed the show unfortunately I’m very unhappy with ending… too many times good shows have fairytale endings. I was hoping for something like we were watching the wrong jason prime the whole time or something we all couldn’t comprehend because we’re not supposed to understand the fifth dimension. Idk 🤷🏽♂️
All in all, I guess it was a great show because it’s the first time they tapped into this type of story time, but I just wanted more.
If they do do a second season, I hope they explain some more of the science of the box and their understanding of the fifth dimension

What's the relation between the fifth dimension and Multiverse?
@@markstriker925 hopefully that question gets answered in the next couple decades
Because I don’t think we truly know the answer as of right now
Then again, I’m just a garbageman, I don’t know anything 😅
🫡🚛
I find it kind boggling that so many people don’t understand that no one built the box in other worlds…it appears the moment the traveler opens the door from the inside 🥴🥴everything thing one could possibly want to know is answered by the script with the exception of what the heck was that creature in episode 4?!?!
That was honestly a plot hole , confusing how the box just poppped out of nowhere and ONLY oke Jason was about to build it ? Didn’t get that
Jasons are the smartest dumbess guys ever. Why would they want to put their wive and son in distress trying to kill his other self.
That box definitely screwed with their head. 😂😂
@@markstriker925 still I won't ever imagine screwing over my wife and son. I rather die than make their lives miserable. The show should have either wrote it out differently or explained why he's all screwed. The book is even more retarded so in comparison. The show did a better job.
I was a bit disappointed that there were no twists. It was a rather linear story to which i knew the ending episodes ago.
I really did think that the final jason would not know the password or that he was a variant of OG Jason until the final scene.
I mean it's based on a book, expectations too high
The ending scene was epic but it took so long we all knew they were getting to the box 😂
They went to heaven 😂😂😂😂😂
He found her like we said
Loved that part
If Bar Jason isn't Jason 1, how did he know about Daniella being killed? The original Jason (J1) also spoke about a version of Daniella that he met and was happy. (I assume it was the same Daniella that bar Jason was referring to).
how could that be that both of them spoke on the same Daniella?
I personally believe that the Daniella that she chose to be with isn't the Jason we've followed from episode 1
Am I the only one that was interested in both leightons story and hoping they focus on him season 2
Would love to see that
Bagface: call me boo
😂 I'm sending this to him
@@sceneinvaders excellent (Mr. Burns voice)
None of you guys cared about the leftover Jasons, who are stranded.
This is a finale there is no second season. I think it was a fine for what it was.
No bud that’s not how u end a series
I dont remember Ryan having an interest in Amanda. the world that Amanda that we've been following was a world created by her and one of the Jasons. it was a world where she the other version of her wasn't around so how was Ryan able to find that world?
Still can't tell difference between bar Jason and scar Jason.
The police will be scrabbling with so many dead Jasons.
But how does Ryan know to look for Amanda?
He is a genius!
Bar Jason I think never made it to the house. I think somehow Blair and j2 killed him at the house and j2 tracked the house
That's a solid theory
This episode was disappointing to say the least. Boring and very predictable once they got to Charlie’s house. Season 2 I’m guessing is going to happen. I predicted they would go to Amanda’s world and I think that’s where they end up.
Yall don't like happy endingss???????
This was the weakest episode of the series. The ending was overly simplified. I did like that they opened the door(s) for a second season. In fact, if this was the absolute ending of Dark Matter, I will be greatly disappointed.
what an underwhelming ending - i was really disappointed
No season 2 please 😂 don’t need it
Terrible ending..! I hope they kill this show!
Terrible comment..! I hope you explain why you think that!
@@MaxVroomfondel Terrible response..! I don't have to explain my comment it's self explanatory
So let me get this straight, a happy ending is a terrible ending? Bruh I don't understand humans, humans want happiness but love their chains to misery
