Personally I don't feel their stuff at 350 bpm or anything of the like, just half that with smaller values to fill the bars. Fast chord changes from bar to bar or within each bar is what really makes a fast tempo fast. If you want a real fast tempo, try Taraf de Haïdouks - Intoarcerea cailor magici (especially past 03:20). It's not metal, but still, I think you'll see the difference ;-) With all that said, I'm not saying Archspire's stuff is simple or slow mind you
@@jackburton3149 I've always seen it as the Spencer is thinking in 300bpm and 350bpm depending on the song, while Dean and Tobi are thinking in 150 or 175. You are right but I do think that Spencer is thinking in 350.
I saw a guy wearing one of your shirts while grocery shopping. I asked him, "which band is that?" He replied it's a sick tech death band called Archspire and the vocalist is like tech n9ne speed. I told the man i am going to look this up when i get home. Now here i am at home, having an eargasm on my porcelain throne.
After watching Dean teach his wife to play this stuff I appreciate it even more. I love this song because of that video! The melodies are amazing and when I first heard Archspire I thought they were more fast for the sake of being fast.
Tech death blows my mind. Especially when it is done by freakishly talented musicians. I love how they use a 7 and an 8 string guitar, yet make it seem normal. The riffs these two play simultaneously in completely different ways make the song sound massive. The creativity is phenomenal
I've played(stillplay) metal since I was a young teen. Mostly the heavier,Darker,Evil- er side of the genre. I'm 50 now so I've got some road under me. These Fucks Make Me want to quit playing!!!! Im embarrassed at myself!!!! These guys are FUCKING AMAZING!!!!!! I can't believe I've Survived this long without these Artists. AMAZING!!!!!
Yeah that's the best part in my opinion. They are pretty much all TOP TIER musicians. As much as I like metalcore, prog, classic death metal etc., tech death is the genre where you will find other bands that can perform like Meshuggah, especially live. I use Meshuggah as a gold standard for live performances and so far pretty much all I've seen of tech death has been FUCKING INSANE
@@shanepilgrim5802 39 here, been in a few death metal bands and to be on the list (live) with this band i would shit my shorts quick, they are on another level
these guys plays the difficults techniques on guitar just like it's nothing xd and compose a song like this is very difficult if you play alone and they succeed to make the 2 guitar riffs fits perfectly to eachother
2 things about this after 100 watches over the years just killed me - in a good way. Toby's picking hand and Dean's little hands! I don't see how Toby doesn't cramp up in 5 seconds and the pick is at such an angle 80% of the time. Then Dean eliminated an excuse for us short fingered folk. Never will I cease to be impressed by these two.
Yeah I noticed that. And then that one guys fret hand arm, his elbow is by his side the whole time. Which is a common bad habit, but for this guy he makes it work. Just wonder how much faster he would be if he had correct arm position
An extreme version of "writing together" is done by Ad Nauseam. They practice together and write their music throught this way for more than 20 years now :)
Writing songs together is exactly how every band should do it. In my former band, that's how we did it and we got compliments all the time for how tight everything sounded. Transitions were smooth, breakdowns were fire, and crowds had a lot of fun.

Top notch technique, riffing, composition, tone, mixing, musicianship... We are lucky to have you guys.
Tobi's picking technique (the one with a Kiesel Vader) is kinda weird, but clean nonetheless. They are fucking sick.
Didn't notice that, but yes, even weirder than Tosin Abasi. Waaaay weirder. But I can't play 10% of what he playes, so it's fine with me
Proper extreme pick angles.
I flip my pick like that too. Top of the thumb for fast alternate picking, side of the thumb for sweep picking. Its more ergonomic than it looks.
these guys plays the difficults techniques on guitar just like it's nothing xd and compose a song like this is very difficult if you play alone and they succeed to make the 2 guitar riffs fits perfectly to eachother
My new favorite thing to do is sip wine and listen to Archspire
Nikolaus Jones the correct drink is actually scotch.

I'd only agree to wine if it's the proper stuff. Same with whiskey. LSD is the ultimate musical listening assistance imbibment.😁
Okay guys. WHERE'S THE BASS PLAYTHROUGH?! Loving this, but you've got a new bass player. He shreds. We wanna see it!

Literally every member of your band is freaking super human. Amazing song.
I went to another universe at 2:52

Greatest climax to a song. I now need a wetwipe
insane as usual
Absolutely the best album ever made. Hands down. The story being told, the music matching the vocals there's nothing like it.
It's insane how talented each individual musician is in this band

That fucking hybrid picking is insane. I don't think I've ever seen it applied in a metal guitar part before

They weren't doing it on 8 strings, so I'll give archspire a point for that
