Just for clarification if you have not watched the first video. None of us owns this car. We were given permission by the owner to try and get it running and drive out of where it was sitting. He's a very good friend of mine who was kind enough to let us have access to his lot, and there's a good chance I'll revisit the Satellite in the near future to hopefully put it back on the road. Thanks for watching everyone!

For those of you who care, the reason the p/s turns on it's own is 1 of 2 reasons. A. The valve body on top of the box is gummed up, and a port is blocked, causing the steering gear to turn 1 way or the other. or B. the valve body, which is slotted ever so slightly, is out of adjustment, which is common when getting a remanned box. It's a trial and error effort to get it to stay centered as well as return during a normal turn, on it's own. Loosen the hold down bolts ever so slightly, and move the valve body assembly EVER SO SLIGHTLY, with the frt wheels in the air, until there is no back lash, and you can turn the tires by hand back and forth, full lock to lock, with the engine running. Alot of guys will blame alignment issues for lack of steering return, when in fact, it's the valve body adjustment.

Gary: Did you notice that nothing in the engine compartment is original. Also it does not have a rally instrument panel. I would put a 383 engine in it with double roller timing chain, 8-degree off-set bushing on the drive pin of the upper cam chain sprocket, headers, hemi valve springs, tarantula intake manifold, Carter 1000 cfm carb, oil cooler, and you would have to add an electric fuel pump if you go to the 1/4 mile rack track. Since it is just a Satellite I would have to beef up the drive train.

I cannot believe that car was left in a salvage yard to sit and rot. Unless the frame is completely rotted out underneath it, that car has monetary value someone will buy it. Looks like a fine project for the right person.

Majority of old cars were like this, ran perfect, perfect frame...Owners couldnt afford to do the bodywork ,paint, interior so they junked them ! Even in the 1980's and 1990's people junked cars that looked like shw cars, perfect paint/interior and at worst the carburetor was shot...Depends where you lived,if they had emission testing people junked older cars because the carbs went bad and they failed and the owners couldnt afford to fix them, but they could get a loan for a new 1980's or 1990's car,so they junked the old car...I seen this 1st hand hundreds of times !

Watched the first video and the second. Lots of fun. When I was 15 (66 now) there was a 51 HenryJ that had been sitting for years that someone had abandoned. Couple of friends and I decided to "get er runnin again". 2 big problems. First, the freeze plugs had rotted out of the engine and second... we were all 15 with no money and in the country with no way to get freeze plugs! We sat around for the best part of a week whittling down logs until they were almost the right size, wrapped them with some greasy old shop towels and hammered them into the block. It moistly (pun intended) held water! We then spent the summer doin burnouts (borrowed gas from the lawn mowers) and practicing our power shifts on the country road we lived on. First car I ever drove. Here's a tip... get an old trigger style oil can and use that to squirt gas in the carb to keep em running. I've used that trick many times. And "fix a flat" works well too.

Unless your a real enthusiast there's little point rescuing these cars anymore. Everyone in the hot rod scene just wants to put an LS in something to make it fast between the lights. To restore as an original classic would cost an arm and a leg. The price of Fuel means they are no longer ideal dailies for college kids. The weight of the thing will mean it gets about 15 to the gallon. It's not a more desirable model so will probably be left to rot.

We've started a few Mopars that sat a long time..most recent was plopping a '77 New Yorker 440 donor car engine into a '70 Fury Gran Coupe..the mill sat 20 yrs and just needed (besides mouse eaten plug wires, lol) a 1 day soak of diesel fuel in the cylinders to get her t turn over..plug wires on and she ran..almost all electricals in the New Yorker worked, inc pwr windows, stereo, lights etc :D Was out in the weather in Wisc the whole 20 yrs.. Fury was under a lean to. Btw, 440 has 150k on it and 150pi cyl pressure :D We dropped in a few things..new dbl timing chain/gear set, a '74 Pre lean burn TQ, Mopar Perf dist/ecu. Bosch Platinums, bc why not..wider heat range, better driveability. We had a pair of '69 Magnum ex. manis..they're worth a grand a pair..they're on the Fury now, lol. Runs fabulous, just needs a new accelerator pump in the TQ. And a pwr brake booster. and..an exaust system lol.
