I grew up listening to this rendition on my parents record player and could never find it on TH-cam in this day and age. Thank you for this performance of this rendition. 3:30 onwards always gets me into tears hearing the transition/bridge into the finale of this song. Absolutely beautiful. Bravo! Merry Christmas!

All you need for this song is a blasting church organ and a good choir. There’s zero videos like that on TH-cam and it’s baffling. Just endless “renditions” that fail
Well spotted. The reason was, was the arrangement was so bloody AWFUL. So discordant, so fragmented, not sure where it was going, when it was really going to take flight. Then it discovered that it was in full song, yet had sorely lacked the necessary pre-kick for that. And then yet one more horribly discordant key change up again at 4:11, which must have grated on these people's finely tuned ears. The fact that this is one of the few hymns of its kind which actually has a 'tribute' to an "arranger" should actually speak volumes. It is bloody awful, ruining probably THE MOST wonderful and joyous Christmas hymns of all.
Another terribly failed "arrangement". Too broken, too fragmented. Discordant harmonies at the end of the ladies' intro. Awful pity as all the individual performers, ALL of them were very competent and capable musicians and singers. I feel sorry for them. Many must have been cringing. The "arranger" must be held in very high esteem that nobdy was brave enough to say "Stop. It's crap. You are embarrassing us". Got to 4:13 and yet another *deeply discordant* key change up, and I thought "No. No more".
@Sionnach1601, it's in the ear of the beholder. This is my favorite Christmas carol, I've listened to hundreds of arrangements throughout my life, and this arrangement is, by far, one of my favorites.
Lovely, starts slowly and builds up to a crescendo - beautiful
This is one of many versions. One good thing about this song is it is adaptable to many versions. I love hearing it in church.

Why are all the performers so sad. No smiles. Hard to watch. Sounds nice .... but....
