    This is a really great video (as all of yours are). I appreciate the way you advocate for the joys / benefits of collecting vintage and pre-modern soccer cards. Preach on! I feel less comfortable, however, with the call-out of particular content creators about Panini Treble. I think those particular content creators have really interesting POVs on the market in general and I also think they've made some compelling points about the potential merits of Panini Treble as a set. And ultimately, its consumers (who purchase the cards at a particular cost) rather than the content creators (who promote the set) who determine the set's relative value. But I completely agree that shill bidding is a concern, likely with some Panini Treble cards, and certainly with ultramodern numbered cards more generally. (Full disclosure: I own one Panini Treble card.) This concern aside - Please keep up the amazing work!

      I appreciate the comment, I'll continue to work towards doing my best. Calling out other content creators is something I'm never keen on, but it's authentic to my journey. Andre and InspireFC make solid soccer card content, but the Treble pump made me queasy. I would've been more accepting of the set and the pump if those same content creators weren't actively selling the cards they're pumping on their ebay or on PWCC (even less disclosure with an auction house). I felt it was contrived, and for the benefits of those who made the videos rather than the greater community.

      I see where you’re coming from even if I don’t entirely agree (RE who was benefiting). But keep up the excellent commentary regardless.

      I take opposite side, I think it’s great to call people on the pump and dumps. We need more of that, no one else will do it, cheers to you usmnt keep doing what you’re doing man!

      @@UsmntSoccerCards As far as I know, Andre usually discloses his holdings when he makes a video. As far as selling, are you sure that he was selling at the moment he "hyped" the set (it was really only one video of hype)?

    Well said. I feel the exact same way. So much history and variance to explore in vintage and pre-modern.

    I'll have 2 tables with a lot of vintage soccer/mid modern at the SoCo Expo in Cleveland in July

    I think the overriding theme is that if you’re genuinely collecting and enjoying your journey, then it doesn’t matter what you collect. I think you can have fun collecting ultramodern cards but as you have warned folks it is not a space where you can count on making money or “investing” (unless of course you’re the breaker profiting off the hype of modern products).

      Great way of putting it. I endorse this takeaway fully.

    Totally agree with you! ⚽️ A gold out of 50 of an average rookie from a random modern set should not cost more than a legendary player with one rookie and a population less than 40 in total 😅 It's probably because most soccer collectors are new to the marked. Hope to see it even out in a few years🤞🏻

    Took the same exact path, except for Maradona part. I got burnt out on modern after all the cards I bought in 2020-21 are now mostly worthless. Vintage is a lot more fun, learning all the players and best part is the super low pop count so the pricing doesn’t fluctuate as much as modern guys that have 50 rookie cards and 10,000 variations.
    It’s also really cool buying a card that’s 80-100 years old and feels like it should be in a museum but now it’s stashed away in my collection 🤣

      Thanks for sharing your experience. The depth of soccer is only comparable to baseball from what I can tell, but it's 1% as explored. Which makes for great learning/hunting.

    As an American, collecting vintage soccer has been a slow process. There are all-time great players that I had never heard of until I started buying modern soccer cards in 2020. Players like Eusebio and Garrincha. Right now, I can’t tell you a single soccer player from the pre-war era. Your videos have been very educational. I bought my first Pele/Garrincha rookie a couple weeks ago. I’ve been influenced 😂.

      It's not easy for us Americans that's for sure, we're so far behind the 8 ball 😂.
      Make sure it's fun for you and something you enjoy, I don't want to be too much of an influence on how people collect. It should primarily be your desire that drives you, I am merely here to play my small part in this whole thing.

    Hello I have a question how can I figure out for which player which card is their true rookie? Is there a website for them? For example I would like to have a Gheorghe Hagi rookie how can I find which card is his true rookie?

      The option that will give you the most results is by going to PSACard.com then hover over the "research" tab along the top and click pop report. Then underneath the search bar, click "Player search". Then type either the last name or full name (in quotations if full).
      It's not perfect, but it will show the earliest card/stickers PSA has graded. Sometimes there can be earlier items that are ungraded, but that's the nature of soccer, we're still learning.

    the controversy in this topic. stirs people up so much lol. Retro era for me is my fav, id say 90's to 2010 as that is when watched the most ball. From maradona/platini to r9/dinho, and all the legends of that era. All i say is collect what makes you happy. If you in it for a business then you have to look at it in a total different way. So many variables to consider before diving in.

      oh and totally agree with you on other sets besides panini and topps.... For modern soccer cards there is one group doing fantastic work. They dont get the credit they deserve. Futera Unique was awesome, 40 year old patches, no napkins and so many legendary players in the checklist.

    Your Benzema example is not the best as far as Treble shilling goes. The "Treble boom" started right around the time that Benzema's magic led Real to the UCL title and subsequent Balon D'or. Then Benzema was absent from the French World Cup team, Real failed to win La Liga in his last season and then he went to Saudi, so there was bound to be a huge deflation in his prices. Also, the "Treble boom" has not yet been followed by a massive bust in Treble prices overall. If it was a pure pump and dump, we would have seen that by now (it is 2 years later, after all). End semi-rant.

    • @blueodum
      @blueodum 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Disclosure: I have flipped plenty of Treble with very good results (I bought AFTER the boom started), but I am also building a PC of some of my favourite players like Lewa, Modric and Buffon.

    I respect anyone's interest in collecting vintage soccer but I have no interest in collecting it. I prefer pre-modern and modern but I wouldn't ever criticize vintage collectors as you've done with modern soccer. Your ire really seems to be the state of ultra-modern more so than modern, which has some merit because of overproduction, but you have a weird obsession with Treble (modern). There are so many shilled cards across eras and sports yet you continually focus on that set of all things.

    • @UsmntSoccerCards
      @UsmntSoccerCards  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I too respect whatever people want to collect. As you mentioned Ultra-Modern has lost me the most, modern I still partake in quite a bit despite what people think of me.
      In respect to Treble, I didn't talk about any shilled comps for treble. My problem with the set is that it was artificially pumped by influencers (10/20/30x in the span of weeks during a down market).. Those same influencers then turn around and sell into this hype they've created and they make tons of money while those who followed them will be left with an artificially pumped market.
      If you like the set more power to you, but as I mention, no one cared throughout the soccer boom, until Andre and InspireFC pumped it to then moon and then sold into the hype. Disgusting behavior imo, and I want nothing to do with the set.
