My biggest take away from the book is that "every action we decide to do is a vote to the person we wish to become" which for me means if we want to be a specific person, then we have to do the things that type of person would do more often than other unhealthy habits
The throw at the end was actually a fourth takeaway that we learn through atomic habits don't drain yourself into self- help rather 'do' self, help. Mark is clever tho
The effects of consistent, low intensity action are more effective, more emotionally healthy, and more permanent... From a course by Mark Manson himself haha, YEARS before this book came out, I get you bro
@IAmMarkManson how does the identity change thing goes with backwards law in your book. Doesn't the idea of changing you identity, trigger the idea that your current identity sucks (it really sucks).
I remember hearing "rushing is another form of going nowhere." Going slow is paramount. The workbook called 30 Days to Reduce Stress by Harper Daniels.
not at all bro, all this information is only from the first 3 chapters (there are 20 chapters), and besides, reading the book will teach you how to actually implement what you learned from this video, cause if you don’t, then they’re just words. Hope you enjoy the book my guy ❤
I haven't read Atomic Habits yet but I've read The Subtle Art of Not Giving A Fuck and I can tell you it was one of the best decision of mine to read this book. Now I'm mastering to only give a fuck to what really matters to me and the rest , I don't care.
It's a very well written book and the ideas make sense.... in theory! I think what it lacks is addressing our good habits nemesis - which is our addictions.
My epiphany moment with this book was that the tighter we cling to an identity, the harder it becomes to grow beyond it. When you cling too tightly to one identity, you become brittle. Lose that one thing and you lose yourself.
I don't want to alter my identity, as I like who I am. If I don't play the game of self- improvement, who is entiteled to hold me accountable? In former times, people, who didn't go to church on sundays were told, that they'd go to hell soon, after their death. As death was always imminante, everybody ( except for those who just didn't get it) obeyed to the rules of the catholic church. I think, the self- help industry has replaced the desire to control people by religion with the installment of an internal critic, who is supposed to do his best to discipline the worshippers. May I remind the enthusiastic supporters of the self- help religion that everyone is born free ( or even doomed to be free, as Satre wrote),therefore any obligation to obey any rule of self- imposed discipline is a form of slavery? Even if a person wants to obey these rules, he or she isn't entiteled to impose or even recommend them to others as this is a form of infringement of their personal rights. It baffels me that people are buying a book that's questioning their ability to live life on their own terms and by their own set of values, habits and desires.
Sorry knit picking but just because a book sells a lot of copies does not clearly mean it’s doing something right. The Bible sells a lot of copies too. Must mean it’s clearly doing something right. Guess we won’t know what that something is.
I get your POV but it is actually a great book. I have it. I still have a few pages left to read but so far there’s great points and great lessons to take from it.
@@SBThreats that’s great! Hope you are able to bring it into practice in your life! I wasn’t trying to bring the book down, I just often challenge the logic of colloquial phrases like that. Popularity doesn’t equate to helpful, good, or proven to be useful in people’s lives. So I know he didn’t think that deep about word choice and is genuinely recommending the book but just an observation.
Have you heard About The Landmark Forum!! So recently I did the Landmark Forum & I have achieved a major breakthrough with the kind of training Landmark Forum gives us!!

Very true ❤
Word…. The way worded “a vote for the type of person we wish to become” so powerful
Mark tossing the book like "mine is better" 😂
The throw at the end😂. Hope the cat wasnt hurt.
There was no 'no animals were harmed' disclaimer, so...
Bahahahahahaha !
He shouldn’t have throw it
It’s disrespectful and not a good habit lol !
@@freezyyyy-but you know that he doesn’t give a f**k
You have to set a goal that is so easy that it requires very little effort which will make you stop coming up with excuses.

Reduce the goal to something you can do in 2 minutes - it's in the book as well
Read this book. Literally life changing. This is always my go-to recommend

Thank you for the book recommendation. 👍
The underrated thing i like about this book is that it tells you why discipline is the hard way and how your mind is wired to act on instinct
Throwing book is not a good behaviour at all.😂
So this summarization is enough? I wont be reading this book then

I love how Mark makes me buy books I didn't think I needed 😅
He's an author, that's his job.
Don't you feel like you are disrespecting the book when you throw it
he has mastered the art of not giving a F

That throw away at the end is kinda disrespectful
I changed my identity from being a smoker to a "I am not a smoker."

So true. Love this book!

Its pretty good all round, from experience
Mark's cat has read the highest number of self help books.
Currently reading this book. Loving it so far. Very practical and most of the things are backed by science.

Didn't you hate it when other people summarised your book??
James Clear summarizes his own book via newsletter for new subscribers lol. It even has a worksheet
It is not right to throw the book away. At least in our culture, it is really disrespectable
Don't do it, man!
