Hello Dave, the OS X & iTunes on my Mac computer are too old (10.6.8 & 6) to speak with my new iPhone and I do not intend to upgrade them. Besides vidéo, photo, music, which JumpDrive will also transfer Contacts, Calendars, Notes & Reminders between my computer & iPhone?

I still have the original third generation iPad ...I can't find any device w 18 pin plug in to transfer photos,docs...I'm not so computer literate ,I'm self taught so be gentle if you you explain how to clean it up or just direct me somewhere . Wasn't it called a 30-pin connector? And if you plug it into your old iPad, then plug that into your computer, can't you access the files and photos thereon?

Have you ran across a flash drive for iphone (that is at least 128gb or more) AND in addition the flash drives has slots for sd card so you can have unlimited storage. And all data can be transferred to any place you want from any of the 3 devices (iPhone, Flash drive, and Sd cards) I thought I saw a video of one, but can't find it now.

Not sure, as it's hard to figure out where they're automatically saved. If you can figure out where they're stored, yes, they are just regular mp3 (aac? not sure) audio files...

Honestly, we get so much gear in house that I rarely use something for more than its testing period. Check Amazon reviews (as you have) for more long term use experiences.

The problem I'm trying to solve is what to use to transfer photos FROM my PC to a flash drive that I can also use with my iPad. The PC runs Windows 7 and I'll be using a 2018 iPad. So far, it seems EVERYTHING on the market is one-way, i.e., it's for moving files TO a PC or Mac FROM an iPhone or iPad.

No idea at all. Check with your embroidery machine's manufacturer to see what they say about external drive compatibility.

I just placed an order on the new 512GB iPad Pro 2. Very excited to receive it & came upon your video while researching how to transfer movies from PC to iPad. Question: If I use the cable with onboard storage you most recommend, & add a 4K movie or 1080p from my PC, do I have to convert those files to anything specific in order for them to be viewed on the iPad or will VLC just play the original files automatically? Would you be able to upload a video demonstrating exactly how the entire process is done, & how you play the movie files after the transfer is complete? That would be VERY helpful! Cheers.
Depends on what app you want to use to watch them. If you want to use "Movies", the default Apple app, then it has to be in iTunes. But try VLC and it can handle a lot more formats...
Dave Taylor Thanks. I'm just curious where these files will be stored and how I can use VLC to locate/launch them? I've been using VLC on the PC forever, but even though I've had it installed on my iPhone I've never used it. Will have to give it a try, I'm sure that'll answer many of my questions. I ordered the WD 3TB Wireless Pro to help me transfer my files to the new iPad Pro easier. I'm sure I'll get it all working properly with practice.
Hi Dave I bought that giga stone and it worked great with my iPad and iPhone then it stopped working with my iPad every time I open the app or plug it in I get a white screen with the GUI that says I - photo fast. I can't get anything to work after that it does work on my iPhone. Please help thanks Robert
Well, that's not right! Try deleting the app and reinstalling it? If not, check that the connectors aren't dirty and if you're still seeing the same thing, contact the company about a refund or replacement. Good luck!

Not a silly question at all, and the answer is yes, it'll work for any sort of file!
On the PhotoFast Mirco SD Reader you did not mention some very important things. If you have an OtterBox on your Iphone, will it still fit into the lightning slot (I suspect it will, because the lightning cable does with no problem). Will it download and let you play games on it, or is it only for photos and vids. Can you download all your apps so you have a backup of them, and will it let you access and use the apps on the SD Card? These are important issues that need to be covered so we can make an intelligent decision of whether we want to get one or not. For instance, on my iPhone which is 16GB I have a few games from Facebook installed (as well as other apps) and also have pics. The pics take up .5GB but the games take up 2.7GB. So roughly, the games take up 2GB more than pics. I can gain more space by moving games. But what I don't know will the SD reader do it and let me use the things I transfer over to it on the SD card. I am more app intensive than pic intensive. I have not found any reviewer that covers this. All of them want to talk about pics and vids and the app user gets left off the radar. Facts and demonstration and explanation of pros and cons are more valuable than hype.
You raise some interesting points and you would clearly use it differently to how the manufacturer intends. It's an external data storage unit, not an expansion to the existing storage, so I suspect much of what you ask would not be possible.
Can you test it out and see what happens in those instances, and show it in video?
Interesting. Among other drives, I have a 1tb external hard drive in a docking station. The external hard drive is an external data storage too, but I can still do things on it. If I put games onto the external data storage unit (the 1TB hard drive) I can play them with no problem. There is no reason the manufacture cannot update themselves to the 21st century and do the same thing. The 1st manufacture to do it will capture the market. Incidently, there is a iPhone flash drive out there that has 512GB of storage, and it cost less than $30 U.S. But I don't know how it works as I have not seen a video on it. The information so far I have on it is it works on IPhone 5 through 7 (don't know about 8 yet). Here is the header from eBay: 3.0 USB Memory i Flash Drive New OTG Dual U Disk For IOS iPhone iPad/PC 512GB. I don't know what OTG stands for nor what a Dual U Disk is. Maybe you can find one and show a video on it and go into depth explain the pros and cons; show how it works. Maybe somebody has already did a video on it, I have not checked on it. But the "hype" sounds impressive, but I don't buy on hype I buy on facts.
I am not the most tech savvy person, so this may be a dumb question. By using the included apps, which i assume i must do for proper function, am i giving all of my personal info in the device to the manufacturer of these devices?
A reasonable question, but no you're not. The apps don't share your data with any online service, just as a hard drive itself (or a floppy disk, if you've been around computers for a long time) is autonomous.
Will my phone/iPad be able to read all types of files such as wmv? Or does it have limitations?
These are just a data storage solutions. Your ability to read / interpret / play / listen to those files is up to the apps you have on your phone or iPad. I will suggest VLC, a great video player that supports a zillion formats. Also available for Mac and Windows too.

Ah, true. It depends on whether you can "get to" the files or not. Some apps hide their files while others have 'em as part of your file system. You might also look at something like Dropbox, but again, it's pretty much designed for photos and video when it comes to the iOS system.

Danatck has a 128GB usb and lightning COBRA cable, he micro sd adapter can be found on ebay in china fo less then $8! 128GB compatible jack!, you charging cable died on me once and i had to drag it around in my bag to access the stupid limited memory, memory was already secretly on our cables (some of them by apple) not all!

BUT the items linked to your video are overpriced and by a lot. I bought Two Lexar 3.0 16G for $7 last week at Walmart and three 32g for around $14
I just link to the Amazon pages, generally. That doesn't mean that there aren't much better deals you can find, particularly as a product gets to be 1-2 years old or even older. Nice finds at $7 and $14, for sure!

Depends on how much data you have, but I agree. It'd be nice to have at least 50% of the total capacity of your iOS device for this to be most useful, if not the full storage capacity!

Which one are you talking about? And why would you expect a storage device to double as a music player?
@@AskDaveTaylor I think he means that after putting tons of music on the disk it will not play them for some reason? Not as a player but just as music storage which would be an excellent reason for the disk to begin with.
I still don't really get his complaint. If he's overloaded the drive it'll still just fill up and refuse to copy more, and I'm sure the data integrity is fine on a modern drive. MTBF is in the tens of thousands of hours nowadays. I appreciate your desire to clarify, but I still don't really get it...
