- ... this is a video with my rhodes mark v and two of the most famous vintage effects for this great e-piano: a vintage electro harmonix small stone phase shifter and a vintage boss ce-1 chorus ensemble, both from the 70ies and pure analog .... you can hear the clean rhodes first, then the phaser is added, after that the chorus (without phaser) and finally both together ... my playing isn´t perfect, but I like the sound so much and it is pure fun tho play with those vintage instruments and effects ....

i'm obsessed with the sound of a rhodes
Fantastic, simply awesome, thanks.
This make me want to learn to play keyboards, best tones ever created, I love this sound
The early MXR phase 90 peddles are awesome too Donald Fegon, Micheal McDonald... but the Small Stone are awesome as well! I have both but I don't have a Boss CE-1, that thing is pretty awesome! Early Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea and Joe Zawinul, used a Wah usually producing a static EQ from being left in the "always on" state combined with the Fuzz Pedal in recordings from the early 70's, adding warm distortion to the sound for an even more funkified "fuzz wah" experience. Man !! the things you can do to an old Rhodes :)
If I was a millionnaire, I'd pay a piano player with exactly your skills and your gear to play all day long for me.
Sounds great!!
I once owned a Mark II 73 with a Phase 100. Kept it tuned too. Sold it in 2000. Wish I hadn't. I now own an SV-1 88. Not as heavy and sounds just as good, and you don't have to tune it.
I have listened to this hundreds of times and it never gets tired. Love it, great job!
1:18 "ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhrg" too juicy there, mate.
Wow this Rhodes sounds wonderfully! And it looks new too!
Rhodes + Phaser = Awesome
Love the tone!
Just like the old Coca Cola commercial, nothing like the 'real' thing. Like the way you put the effects to it and add that magical color. Love the Rhodes! Harold was a genius. May He RIP.
that was stunning straight up
Beautiful! I need to get myself a Rhodes asap...
Fantastic, amazing keyboard, one of the best sounding Rhodes I've heard, sounds much brighter and sharper than the MK1 and II
just saw a rhodes like yours on ebay going for 2995.00
i'm crying at not being able to buy it, had to put the money to use
on other things! someday i will have my rhodes!
some day soon!
maybe you can be interrested in Pianet M or Pianet T, from Hohner. Not really the same thing, but a lot cheaper
thanx cesar, but its rhodes or nothing.
i will bounce back eventually and will have my rhodes then. it just the timing that sux!
Ntch Pt1 check out the sv-1
I paid $100 for my first rhodes - an 88 key mark I with crappy/spongy key action. I resold it for $200. this was about 20 years ago. no way in hell I'd pay $3K for any rhodes.
5:00 definitely has that Doobie Brothers , Michael McDonald sound going on there. Love it.
Nice version ! i like yours better... that taxi theme rocks
I much prefer the phase shifter over the chorus unit. I have a 1976 Stage and used a Castle Phaser III Stereo unit. Great sound in Stereo.
Amazing tone/vibe of that Rhodes. Love it. Searching for the Small Stone Phase Shifter. What year is your pedal, you know?
got anything to trade
the rhodes is just one peice of that sound puzzle
From 5:00 on.... nice groove.
Very tasty!
It sounds a little bit like Angela, by Bob James...
Totally killer. That sound takes me back. Gotta go. Welcome Back Cotter just came on!
You ever try that with a Univibe or something similar. I bet that would be cool.
Very nice indeed-but the biggest question is what do you use as an amplifier?
Can you recreate Jean Carne's "Don't let it go to your head" phaser rhodes sound.
Great sound; what’s the amp you used here?
what genre is this? where can i find chords to play this?
that's money
God how i love Rhodes on the higher notes... Pachlar is this groove Ur palying jazz/blues oriented? Coz it's kinda too subtle to be a Funk groove :D
What's the song you're playing at 1:00?
what style of jazz that you are playing?
besides I'd love to have the skills to play the part from 0:40 to 0:53
I can actually hear this dude breathing as loud as the rhodes itself…
1:10 dead tine.
