How does it performs? I wanna get a refurbished one, so how many hours do you get without gaming or performance heavy tasks, just using basic apps and all?
Thank you so much! I am still rocking my XS Max. I recently updated to the iOS 18 Beta 1. It’s everything you stated in the video that I am experiencing. I recently exchanged (express replaced) mine for a new one, so my battery is at 100%. My iPhone is running smooth except for those things that you mentioned (heat, battery life dwindling fast, and lag in the control center when scrolling). The final version will be smoother. I have no trouble scrolling through background apps. Waiting for the next beta! Thx Nick!
Hey Nick, I used to have an XS MAX as my first iPhone. It's crazy that it's still running iOS 18, and I wouldn't be surprised if iOS 19 works for it too. If I still had the iPhone XS Max, I'd probably just change the battery, you know, and maybe miss having 5G on it. 😅
you won't miss 5G... 4G is fast enough and won't drain your battery as fast. Signal coverage of 5G is also another concern, you won't be able to catch 5G on some remote areas...
I have it and the only thing i really did hate the most was the photo app. Why is it now so confusing to go trough all of my albums and recent photos? They should've never touched this app.
Shorter battery life would definitely be a problem as battery life has always been the Achilles heal of the XS Max. Under heavy use it won't last the whole day running ios 17. Had the battery replaced by Apple two years ago and it's down to 81% capacity. Speed is still ok though.
I can't believe that people still keep referring to GHz as if it meant something... (especially the people who are supposed to teach others - reviewers). Nexus 6 is clocked at 2.7 GHz. Does it work better than or the same as xs..? :D
i tried the RC version in this device.. i think apple tried to killed the device slowly with the OS.. so warm and kinda overheat happened to this device performance.. and so draining with the battery too.. imagine how draining this when you still using the original battery.. atleast u should upgrade the capacity of the battery by buying the 3rd party battery that boost the capacity.. and not too care much with the “important battery message”.. i think this not suitable.. ios 17.7 seems more make sense to this device..
Who would be crazy enough to install the first version of a dev beta on a 7 years old device with 4go of ram. I think these people should wait for the official release on September
The iPhone X advertisement suggests the widgets being resizable. We’re finally getting that functionality over 6 years later. Better late than never I guess
To those people who had iphone 11/12 and want to update their phone to ios 18 beta, I’ll comment based on my own experience. iOS 18 beta have mini stutters but didn’t have app crash compared on this video(XS max) and I find changing the color icons is not the great compared to one ui samsung’s color palette well as expected from beta. My advice is wait for public beta. Thank you!
How great would it be if any of you tech guys do this test on the iPhone 13 series cuz to me those are the last gen of powerful older iphones n we would love to see how they all perform on ios 18 😊. So far no one has done the entire 13 line up for us 😊
Audio not in sync with video for apps like instagram , facebook etc. after few videos .... It crash apps sometimes, like camera randomly. CC is not consistent with animations and haptic feedback, feels bad. Adding bigger CC functions to CC and making that CC funcion bigger can sometimes make that function permastay on the screen even CC is closed .
2 by 2 widget is the smallest and unless it is an app (which batteries isnt; nor is screen time), it wil not get smaller. If it is an app (Stocks) it will schrink to the app icon
i installed the beta on my 14+ and after 2 days it encounters this weird loop where it will crash, restart, turn on, and after 1-2 minutes it will stop responding and restarts again. Couldn't even send a feedback before it restarts by itself. a storage warning appears saying i have low storage, i checked and it shows 50gb system data. Everything's a mess. I ended up reseting it using itunes to 17.5.1. Safe to say I'll probably wait for it's oficial release
Oh my! I haven’t experienced that on any iOS or iPadOS 18 products but that goes to show the betas unreliability. I would probably reinstall 17 from my Mac just like you mentioned 👍
Have to say in 2024 still having that dock locked to just FOUR icons and NO dock pages is kind of sad! Also no round robin scrolling of pages... If they only allowed launchers like we've have for over a DECADE on android...
8:40 it's pretty normal i have XS and even in IOS 17 that part it heats up very well and I just throw ice to back of my phone and everything gets to normal temperature
You have to change the battery and make sure that its health is higher than 80% to get the best experience , Apple reduce the performance if the battery health lower than 80%
I mean the OS isnt fully optimized yet so theres that, but unlike android which covers way more devices, I'd expect ios to work fine on any compatible iphone as its not much of a revamp of the OS, its just the same same over and over without much code difference
Shocking that this phone gets iOS 18, it got more updates and even security updates than the note 9 the s10 and the s20 Not trying to be a hater just pointing something out
I still run this phone (since release) and I’m on beta 8 and now it’s polished, like apple used to do their stuff. Planning to go iphone 16 pro max. Wait for a few months, always get the new iphone when there’s less than 6 months before the new iPhone releases. If more than that, get the current newest iphone.

I have the beta running on my 5 year old iPhone 11 Pro (bear in mind, it’s my primary phone), and it runs… very similarly to how it did on iOS 17

For the battery widget, it was already the smallest size so you can’t shrink it.4x4 is the smallest widget on an iPhone
