Odd how you make a video about saving battery life and discharge rate, but you don't use 'Dark Mode' which essentially changes all the white pixels to black, reducing ALL the white light that pixels have to make just so you can use your phone, which can easily still be used in a dark mode - saving heaps of battery. Strange you didn't even mention this to people looking for ways to reduce battery power.

I found one use case of „always“ for gps, namely the weather app. If you opt for „while using/widget“ and use weather widgets, it will do a locate every time you see a widget. Widget on homescreen, opening control center and closing it -> locate. Moving back and forth a page on your Home Screen -> locate. Open notifications and have a weather widget -> locate, closing notifications -> locate. You get the idea. Switching to always results in a 5-20 minute refresh cycle, which reduced the number of localizations drastically(as can be seen in app privacy report). It‘s weird, but it saves me 2-3% a day. Before, the weather widget showed up with 2-3% in my battery settings, now it‘s 1% if it‘s listed at all.

Great guide! Data worth noting concerning battery preservation. Battery health settings don’t work properly. I only charge my phone when needed, usuall charge before I go to sleep, to 100% after a year my 15pro max was 10% battery health and only way 150 charge cycles. Testing on previous phone with settings (as advised) saw battery health degradation of 12% and about 274 cycles.

Very informative, but do you have to talk so fast? I see a setting under screen time listing content and privacy restrictions. It is set to off by default. Should that be turned on? Keep up the good work. Thanks
I still have an iPhone 12 Pro Max and as long as they continue to let me update it I’ll continue to use that phone and not waste money on a new phone. That’s all I really have to!
5G SA actually saves battery because it doesn't need an additional 4G Carrier. So when using 5G leave it on. When using "LTE only" it doesn't matter at all.
Dumb question - I updated to iOS 18, but why don’t I have all of the options you have mentioned? My iPhone is older - it’s a 12 Pro Max & I’m waiting for my new 16 Pro Max to arrive from Apple.
9:11 Having ringtone and alerts change with buttons does change the volume of your ring tones if you are playing a video or other media, it only does it if you have no media playing and use the buttons. I keep this on for me to be able to change the volume quickly when at work or home for what I need, rather than go into setting everytime. You can test this, go watch a video or listen to music and change the volume. You will notice on the side next to the buttons the level of volume. Now close the app. The use the volume buttons again and you will notice the side bar does not come up, but the ringtone bar will come down from the top and change. You may see a bump on the side bounce as you press the volume buttons. So, you will see both volumes are separated in this fashion as to not conflict with eachother.
The only two things I need to know about iphone batteries... are the price ( they cost between $20 and $100 depending on the model) and a where to find a guide to remove them myself. So I never follow battery health tips because I rather enjoy my device to the max and when the battery health dips below 80% I change it immediately. Changed my iphone 4's battery once, iphone 7 battery 3 times - Iphone 11 3 times currently on my second authentic apple replacement on my 14 pro max and cannot be bothered by the health of a part that is so cheap
Question about iOS 18 upgrade: Ever since I upgraded to ios18 my iPhone 15Pro max doesn’t work properly with CAR PLAY….in my (2023)car, which it did before the update. As an example when I play Pandora the error message says. “There is a problem loading this content”. Then it will intermittently play music, or toggle back and forth from my car speaker and iPhone speaker….or not work at all. Have you heard of this or have a recommendation on how to fix?
I was kinda skeptical, didn’t know your channel before. But after couple of minutes, I realized that once upon a time I browsed IOS settings and turned off like half of your suggestions. I kept watching and it was an eye-opener - I remember I used to dig into “billions” of settings in android, and finally realized that IOS is not much better different with default settings. Thank you, you deserved my like and subscribe. 🎉

This is such a good video. I already had about half the settings changed as suggested, but I learned about a lot more. Even more importantly, I can share this video with friends and family who aren't as concerned about privacy as I am. Since they are already clicking through the settings to follow along with your suggestions, it will be easier than convincing them to dig through on their own. Much appreciated!
You don't get it. This technique preserves your battery for years. You can give your old iPhones to your grandma and the battery will still be amazing. It's also important to note that it's not just a tip that TH-camrs invented, Apple themselves recommend doing this. Try reading the battery care section on their website.
@@One.Zero.One101 Yeah, I indeed do not get it. Why would I bother with this? Why do I care that my battery is “preserved for years” when I don’t use 20% of it from the start?
@@One.Zero.One101 Started only charging to 80% on my 15 Pro Max since the beginning, first months the battery health stayed at 100%, but a year later im down to 96%. In my mind this doesn´t make sense since charging till 80% should be way more healthier for the battery...
I've also been curious as to how this is supposed to help preserve battery life. Been having iPhone 6S Plus for about 10 years and the battery health is 67%. Never left it to charge overnight but would charge at least once daily or on alternate days if I use it more when battery level is at 20% and turn off charging when it's 100%. Wondering if I were to stop charging at 80% all these years will the battery life remain at 80% when it's 10 years old?
I saw another comment stating that the slider NOT appearing may have something to do with battery health. I think that may be correct. I have an iPhone 12 mini with 79% battery health, and I don’t have the slider either.
@@vincentneibert1333 I do recommend you to change your battery since iOS downperformance the system itself if its less than 85% of battery to keep the battery alive and you might notice it slower than when you bought it.

Omg thanks for all the tricks! I completely forgot the apple to subscription that I got for free when purchasing my iPhone. I never use it sind it’s literally shite, so thanks for saving me another ten bucks or so!!
So, I'm confused. 3:35 or so in the video, you have us switch to LTE... but then you go back and turn 5G Auto on, in order to turn off 5G Standalone, and then leave it on 5G Auto. Is that what you're doing? I don't know if we're supposed to leave it on LTE or 5G Auto, per your video.
If 4G is fast enough for you (it is for most people) I recommend to turn 5G off completely, I always do that, really have no need for 5G since 4G is fast enough. Plus 5G is using a lot more battery so not so good. Leave it on 4G only and you will be happy with that.
My Verizon store guy told me how to turn off 5G for the LTE bc I didn’t get 5G to my old house. When I moved I have a cell tower right behind me so thought 5G was faster. Didn’t realize til now that it uses battery faster. Thanks!!
You will have to go back in settings and turn it back on, I always leave it on, you still need faceid to access the hidden album so you are safe and secure, no need to also have it hidden from the list in photos.
My phone is showing that there is unknown microphone even though I’ve disabled access for all the apps is this something that can be fixed or should I be worried?
Or you can just charge to 100% and get on with your life. People are so neurotic when it comes to battery health, it's just ridiculous. Charging cycles are just one factor. People bring their phones everywhere -from very hot environments to extremely cold environments and somehow they don't understand that this will also degrade their batteries. I'd say use the phone as it should be used and replace the battery when it is time. No matter how well you treat it the battery won't last forever.
Another one of my favorite videos. I really bow to your iPhone wisdom. Keep up the good work. I’ve a question regarding my new iPhone 16 pro max: is it okay/safe for the phone’s battery life to turn it off every night? I’ve noticed that the do not disturb and the airplane mode did not result in a stronger 100% battery the next day for me and lasted me for 14 hours before showing 99%. I do not charge my phone overnight. I charge it just before going to bed and use the charged phone all day. Please share your iPhone wisdom, as always. Many thanks.
I disagree with turning off the change with button and I think you’re wrong. When on, it changes the volumes independently. When you lower the volume of a TH-cam video with the buttons you do not affect your system volumes at all. App/music volume slider is displayed on the left. System slider is at the top. It’s been like this for a long time.
@@loverule9320it’s definitely an incremental thing, but its effects compound over time. Essentially, the maximum charge your phone’s battery can hold will drop. However, your phone will calibrate and display 100% at whatever “full” charge is. For example: my iPhone 14 Pro has a 3200 mAh battery, but the battery health page in settings shows that its maximum capacity is at 86%. That means that when my phone shows 100% battery, it is actually at 100% of the reduced capacity, which is 3200 mAh * 86%, or 2752 mAh. Every lithium ion battery degrades like this, but keeping it at a fully charged or fully depleted state for extended periods accelerates the process.
@@loverule9320my phone constantly won’t charge past 80%. It does sometimes but tbh the majority of times it’ll charge to 80% then act like that’s as far as it wants to go.
Some of the Tips are good. Others like the low data mode or iCloud backup are terrible. And the worst part; you're only going to realize that once you need to restore a Backup.. There's a reason that these options are set by default.
@@adriantorres7858 Well somehow my elaborate answer was deleted.. in Short: Low data mode will stop your apps from updating for new information. Say your friend sends you a message on some app, well now you won't receive it until you open said app. Picture backups are also disabled. iCloud backup backs up all your apps, settings, passwords, pictures etc. If you lose your phone or it dies, then its all gone. I'm disappointed that there are no Pro's and Con's told in this video. Best practice is to not let someone else tell you what to set if you don't understand what it does. Chances are the other Person doesn't fully understand his tips either.
They're not terrible, it depends on user preference. I don't backup my photos and videos on iCloud so having that on would be useless to me. My backups are all synced to an external hard drive.

This was excellent! Thank you very much, and I am going to share this with my mom. You made it very easy to follow, and I really appreciate that! It was exactly what I was looking for! You have definitely got me as a new subscriber, and I'm about to go binge some of your past videos. Have a great day!
I turned off clean energy and optimized charging and my iphone 13 pro max has been sitting at Maximum capacity 90% for about 6 months.
10% battery loss in 6 months is horrible.

📱 THANK YOU so much for the list of instructions. You are my go-to channel when I updated the iOS on my phone. 📱
Very much needed video for me because my main Android cellphone was stolen and now using instead my emergency backup iPhone 13 Pro Max and learning !!
Very informative, but do you have to talk so fast? I see a setting under screen time listing content and privacy restrictions. It is set to off by default. Should that be turned on? Keep up the good work. Thanks
Not updating to 18 until 18..1 comes out , usually glitches with these upsides,
if you don’t have the slider just put it on 80% it’s not a big deal
5G Standalone does not prevent the phone from using LTE. It is an upgrade available on some carrier’s 5G networks. Better to leave it how you find it.
I still have an iPhone 12 Pro Max and as long as they continue to let me update it I’ll continue to use that phone and not waste money on a new phone. That’s all I really have to!
I bought 3 weeks ago and my battery is 97% why😢 are we same?
I would have as well, if it hasn’t got stolen last year. I loved that phone.
I have the 11 and plan on using it as long as possible

Excellent video as always, would love to see similar video on ipad ios 18....
5G SA actually saves battery because it doesn't need an additional 4G Carrier. So when using 5G leave it on. When using "LTE only" it doesn't matter at all.
Yeah, his 5G SA explanation makes no sense. Leave it on unless it's causing problems.
Dumb question - I updated to iOS 18, but why don’t I have all of the options you have mentioned? My iPhone is older - it’s a 12 Pro Max & I’m waiting for my new 16 Pro Max to arrive from Apple.
You’re screwed
Yes, please make a video covering all the camera settings in iOS 18. Thank you!
Absolutely would be lost without your channel. Thank you so very much. 🙏❣️
So helpful! Would love a separate video on iOS 18 camera settings.
Question about iOS 18 upgrade:
Ever since I upgraded to ios18 my iPhone 15Pro max doesn’t work properly with CAR PLAY….in my (2023)car, which it did before the update.
Thank you so much ! Nice to see you back
Hi, Thank you for your wonderful video. Why I can’t see cellular ( 3:08 ) in my iPhone settings. I can only see “Mobile” and there is no option to change 4G or 5G 😢

This battery charging is available only from iphone 15? I dont have it on 14 pro

15 plus here and is available for me.
iPhone 13/iOS 18 here and I don't have it, dam it.....
I wonder if it depends on 18.1 because 18.0 doesn't have intelligence.
I got a normal 15 and it works
The bit about the alarm clock was very helpful didn’t realise 😺👍🙏
Thanks a million for this upload! For the 1st time ever, I switched from Galaxy to iPhone and I’m (quite literally) learning everything from scratch like a child in Kindergarten…. This may prove to be the most useful phone video I have ever watched! Cheers from Florida!!!
So instead of waiting couple years to degrade my battery to 80%, I can have 80% capacity from day one 😂
If you use the phone the same amount of time, your charging cycles won´t change. I wonder if apple bases their SoH estimation mainly on that number.
I’ve been on iOS 18 for what feels like about 6 months now. Same iOS but with some android features
You need some glasses boy! There is a noticeable difference between IOS 18 and previous version's.

I saw another comment stating that the slider NOT appearing may have something to do with battery health. I think that may be correct. I have an iPhone 12 mini with 79% battery health, and I don’t have the slider either.
Correction: I have 79% battery maximum capacity.
My friend has iphone 14 promax 88% battery and no slider bar.
@@vincentneibert1333 I do recommend you to change your battery since iOS downperformance the system itself if its less than 85% of battery to keep the battery alive and you might notice it slower than when you bought it.
Dont worry at all. Just USE your batteries. Moder batteries can handle “bEiNg cHaRGeD tO 100%”. Also in your case you can start thinking about changing your battery
You wont even need that slider any more cuz your battery is already worn out
I charge my phone only upto 91% but still in one year my maximum capacity fell down to 89%
Try not to go under 20% either. Did you buy the phone second hand? Or new out of the store?

Always on display didn’t exist on iOS til the iPhone 14 Pro
It's only on 14 pro and up. But you dont really want this thing turned on, most people dont need it and it drains your battery. I know he said it doesnt use much but fact is it uses enough for you to notice so just keep it turned off.

Omg thanks for all the tricks! I completely forgot the apple to subscription that I got for free when purchasing my iPhone. I never use it sind it’s literally shite, so thanks for saving me another ten bucks or so!!
Some of these are necessary, others are your preferences or OCD and probably not even worth mentioning, like lock sound…
I noticed that also.
Thanks!!
17:02 so if you turn this hidden album switch off, how do I access that album?
How
Go back n turn it on
You will have to go back in settings and turn it back on, I always leave it on, you still need faceid to access the hidden album so you are safe and secure, no need to also have it hidden from the list in photos.
Thank you I needed this video never stop doing videos of settings to turn off on new ios updates
My phone is showing that there is unknown microphone even though I’ve disabled access for all the apps is this something that can be fixed or should I be worried?
So, buy the IPhone 16 Pro Max because it has a bigger battery that you can charge to only 90% and still get a decent amount of usage? 🤔😉

Recently got my iPhone 13 after having the XR for almost 4 years and it was extremely helpful!
Yess bro
0:53 that setting was there before? At least for an 80% cutoff
I have never had a problem with my battery charging it at 100%. I just don’t think this is true.

THE LEGEND IS BACK🎉🎉🎉
Some of the Tips are good. Others like the low data mode or iCloud backup are terrible. And the worst part; you're only going to realize that once you need to restore a Backup..
There's a reason that these options are set by default.
Elaborate more on both of these I was also hesitant on those two options
@@adriantorres7858 if your phone is lost/stolen or somehow crashes broken whatever and you taken photos you never backed up your items and are lost..
@@adriantorres7858 Well somehow my elaborate answer was deleted..
in Short:
Low data mode will stop your apps from updating for new information.
Please make a video like this but for MacOS Sequoia!
Thank you so much. I didn't realize how many features were killing the battery life.
