It was legitimately a sad story, i realized who it was about at the mention of the plasma rifle getting flung to the side. The flash of golden light only solidified it for me. A genuinely great story.
Been a halo fan for years, but due to life circumstances, never got to play the games. Yesterday, my wife got me the MCC for my birthday and i played Halo CE for the first time ever today. What a surreal experience! It's SO awesome!
Fun fact: The Invisble Spec Ops elite that you met at the start was originally supposed to be an honor gaurd instead and Onsu Valorno is likely homage to that cut content.
Uh no? The plot summaries in the scripts and unused spawns make it quite clear he was suppose to be a Stealth Elite Major but Bungie couldn’t get invisibility working for him all game so changed him to a Spec Ops
The community is going to do this. If you have not been following the digsite updates, we have just gotten a ton of unfinished maps for the cut 2/3 parts of the story of halo 2. Along with this, we have the story boards, all the voice lines for each of these missions, we have the white boards for most of these missions as well that shows enemy and ally placement and what was said to happen in the levels. This level was one that was touched upon in the halo 2 dev commentary. We were supposed to see brutes lining up elite Councilors and executing them. The mission was supposed to be longer and show the battle in much more detail of the brutes and elites, along with the sides chosen by the other covenant. Seriously, watch the halo 2 dev playthrough with commentary! Perfect time to do so given that the 20th anniversary was just yesterday for halo 2! At the end of the day, we the community are going to piece together the last two thirds of the cut story of halo 2 ourselves. Each day we come closer and closer to this goal! There is no need to "wish" anymore. We have all of the tools and everything else needed to do this and fix it ourselves. Also, the fact that the old bungie crew are super chill and easy to talk to, we also have them to help us along in this journey, to ask them what they would have done and if they can remember how something was supposed to go or to get better insight. Seriously, we are almost there!
After this story I replayed Uprising with Onsu 'Valonro's blade and the Elite minors Plasma rifle. I slaughtered every brute I could find. I ran out of ammo quickly and it was a very frustrating evening.
After hearing the prayer, I’d be very interested in seeing a video on what the covenant actually believed in. What the religion actually involved, more than just the great journey
Personally i think a new game trilogy that covers the Human-Covenant war. Particularly we need missions from the perspective of the Covenant (which only Halo 2 had) which need to explain why the Covenant Civil War broke out. Fact is its very sudden that Truth decides to just kill all the Elites. I'm asusming that that was not his intention and that it was the overzealous nature of the Brutes turned "the changing of the Guard" into a "Program"
"They have shed our Brothers blood, and for that they must die" - Halo 2, Spec-Op's Sangheili. Level: uprising. Also, if only Fal' Chavamee was still alive or even Ripa' I have no doubs the war would've been different or even Xytan'
I always liked having the group of elites with me take the levels of enemies after that little ammo room. Loved marching in with a team of bad ass elites. They thought we were dead? Now they’re going to wish they killed us.
I doubt Ripa would have put up with Thrallslayer standing in his way. There would have been conflict before the elites even knew that they were being betrayed.
The first update on Infinite since new leadership gives us the first new weapon in years, and then the first new audio book we get is this masterpiece. Hope they can keep this momentum going.
The restructuring seems to have kick-started interest in development again. The chaos of the outsourcing era seems to finally be over. Dataminers have found sound files for many of the weapons planned for Infinite in the game itself now after the update, which means we're getting even more good stuff on the way.
Honestly this story not only strengthens the sorrow of uprising but also encourages the player to avenge the fallen elites (our fallen brothers) by cutting through the brutes in the area whom were responsible for the heretical actions. The moment we picked up that blade, justice was served. Sidenote: Surprising to see thrallslayer show up (seeing as he was a halo wars leader) at least now Halo fans will have more context on his background, I guess this is expanding on the terminal from H2A.
The Thrallslayer being present is a nod to a Halo 2 Anniversary terminal animation, which shows him and three other Brutes amid a pile of Elite corpses.
@@ScaleTail1101 Had to re-edit my comment after misreading yours Thats my bad, I did forget that he was featured in the terminals, just remembered he had a bruteshot and he was the only brute wearing the crimson armour, my point was that he is such an anonymous brute to a lot of casual fans and those who didn't play Halo Wars 1 would not have even recognized him on the thumbnail. In fact that art they used for him in the thumbnail comes directly from Halo Wars 1, in the terminal he is holding the brute shot. So it was very much more of a nod to Halo Wars 1, they expanded on the terminal lore with this audio book which is pretty neat, good that we got more context from that terminal. I ended up editting my original comment to fix the error, I probably should have actually mentioned the terminal in the first place but I guess I had forgotten, appreciate you pointing it out though.
Every time we get one of these books I cry, knowing that THESE are the kind of stories 343’s games should’ve been about instead of more unneeded Chief stuff
@yuvraj4896 the franchise of cheif was supposed to end with halo 3, and honestly, seeing how 343 f'ed up, it should've stayed that way, instead making games off of lore like thus.
Although your face cam is fun, I love seeing how animated you can be, and you're one of my overall favorite TH-camr personalities full stop, the way you animated and edited this with no facecam at all really felt immersive for me. I too have always LOVED Uprising, that was probably my most replayed level when I was younger for Halo 2, so this story to me is so interesting, and I think the work you put into this video to deliver us the story is very well done. Thank you for still making good Halo content. You truly are a beacon of hope for this franchise.
I'm never gonna be able to play uprising the same again, the plasma rifle and energy sword starter combo will hold so much more weight, vengeance against the brutes that lay in your path all the more righteous
When I heard this... I thought it would tell the story of those that were killed in the control room... But after listening to it, I can easily picture those valiant warriors I come across in this level. It puts a new spin on those that were imprisoned
HOLY SHIT NOW THAT IS A FUCKIGN LORE STORY. THE BEGINING OF THE UPRISING LEVEL HOLY SHIT HOLY SHIT THAT IS AMAZING. IT ALL TIES EVERYTHING TOGETHER SO WELL OH MY FUCKING GOD
I do like that this story explains why the councilors and hunters in the cells were armed, which was always a bit weird. Still wish we could have actually seen how the hell the brutes managed to capture a pair of hunters though lmao
In the lore the elites believed that getting medical attention was dishonourable, you actually see in one of the halo 5 walking missions an elite complaining about getting treated by a doctor as it robs him of honour, so unfortunately even if the arbiter was a medical wizard, he probably would have refused it
This is why they need to make a book alongside the games. Halo: The Flood added so much to halo CE, imagine the added content with books alongside H2 and H3.
Would you say this is your favourite Waypoint Chronicle so far? Also I wonder if the Sangheili Councillor from this story chose to join the Swords of Sanghelios.
I love so much this focus on Halo 2, and the Great Schism. This respect for this past gives me hope for the future of Halo. Happy to finally have a story for these elites. And H2 elites look so awesome. I also want so badly for them to return to the harsh, ripping flash, electric/gas ignition tearing sound the energy sword used to make, instead of this dumb wet gelatin sound they make in recent games.
The fact that makes this really sad was that the Elite that you meet in game and die was probably a young adult from all things considered, like maybe 18 in Elite years, maybe even younger.
Good video to help more Halo fans see more of the elite-side of the events unfolding in the games. There are a lot of books that have entire chapters seen from their point of views and it is always a great addition to the rich universe that is Halo. I myself have very fond memories from the 2000s where fans would write their own sangheili-focused stories.
Now I'm curious about that one elite with the sword that showed up and gave his dialogue shortly after the arbiter kills the brutes in the beginning of that level and his story?
This is amazing man, Uprising is also my favorite Halo level of all time and this extra bit of lore is freaking awesome! Wonderful job on this video HiddenXperia!
After hearing the story they created surrounding these events, it makes me wish they added data pads to anniversary similar to how they did CEA/H2A’s terminals
When this video dropped and I started listening to it and my gosh I was not ready for it to be so amazing, nor add on to the story of Halo 2 even more, uprising already felt so heavy now with this story added it adds even so much more to it, truly truly an amazing addition to the Halo 2 story
There was just something about the part describing Valonro's death combined with the music track that made it genuinely unsettling and gave me chills. You did a great job with setting the tone and each scene.
Now that was a god damn good short story. The story of halo 2 has so much potential for backstories that I actually enjoyed this one. I appreciate you bringing it to light for us. Good job lad.

Just wanted to Thank you man. I already was already very fluent on Halo lore. But you elevated it into Masters Degree level. Out of curiosity have you looked into HaloFollowers Ghosts of Reach series?
Ayyy thank you man, appreciate ya! I have! It’s a pretty dope fan series that’s animated rly well, he seems to have found his groove with that kinda content lately
As if Uprising and Great Journey didn't have great storytelling, now we have this beautiful story. I respected that fallen Minor before, and now his tale has given me new vigor in my battles against the Brutes. And fighting alongside the Councilor who was captured by Thrallslayer after we rescue him just got a whole lot more awesome. The addition of Thrallslayer after so long in the timeline since Halo Wars was so welcome as he was my favorite of the three Covenant leaders in the game.
I never realized that line of the Elite talking at first was from the body. I was so used to seeing bodies like that meant they were gone and no life was left. This makes me see the start of this mission very differently. You're videos are always amazing man, hope you get better soon!
Good Lord I always kind of wondered what they were all going through when those brutes ambush them. All the way to the moment the arbiter arrives seeing what they have done to his own kind. Yeah at least we finally get some understanding, especially after 20 years what they were all thinking and what they witnessed in their final moments. The minor that watched the arbiter appear through a yellow light sent by the gravemind through teleportation. But all this time, I didn’t even realize that the elite was talking was the one that was on the ground ahead of me. Instead I assumed it was one of the elites that the brutes shot before one of them said let’s throw them over the edge. Where is the fun of that?
Honestly love these kinds of videos, if you ever get the chance I suggest you do do a podcast where you just read the full books. You definitely chose the right backing song for this it elevated the video so much, videos like this are why I subscribed. Much love brother
This was a story that didn’t need to be made, but I’m glad it was, there is much behind the scenes of the games we never get to see. It was something sweet and tearjerking. I would love to see more effort like this from Halo Studios
maaan that was deep i always took a moment to look at the corpses when i first played now it has a hole different meaning this is why the eilites are my favorite there is always something else new to them thank you for covering this
I’ve ALWAYS been so proud to fight alongside those two Hunters halfway through the level. It was a crime on Bungie’s part that we never had friendly Hunters in Halo 3. Now I love them even more. Maybe they recited some war poetry while they fought alongside Arbiter.
The thing that pains me with halo is that i love this franchise, love it to death it was the first FPS game i ever played back when halo CE released. Everytime i watch halo videos of any kind it make me WANT to play the game. But then i start up the game, play for about half an hour, then im done. I beat every halo on legendary for helioskrill and maybe that just took the motivation out of me, i dont know anymore. But it truly hurts to love something so much, but get almost no joy out of actually experiencing it again.
A book I want to see that took place in Halo 2 would be the final hours of High Charity. We could read about the start of the schism, witness reports of Brutes and Elites seeing Chief, the space battles, ground zero with the flood, the failed recapture of High Charity after the flood got control.
This story to me shows something that I think we occasionally forget in halo: the sheer tragedy of the war. Not only in the genocide and Flood absorbing people, but the sheer amount of people lost on both sides. How many humans died alone, fighting for their people? How many young men and women, whether human, Sangheili, Unngoy, Kig Yar, or even Jiralhanae, died for more or less nothing? The way the story makes it, this elite is young. He had a whole life ahead of him, a long one since Sangheili have pretty long lifespans, and it was snuffed out. As well as his comrades, the scribe who was forced into the military, or the translator of ancient languages, imagine how much good eachof these lives could have done for the galaxy, and all of them were snuffed out, for what? For Truth’s personal power and delusions of grandeur. (Also, I am now officially headcanoning that Valanro/The Elite Minor’s energy sword is the same one that would slay the Prophet of Truth and have its components used to make Prophet’s Bane.
I love this! Hey was there ever a story of that one alive Elite at the beginning of Uprising and how he got there? The one who sneaks up and takes out the last couple of brutes by the door before all your other brothers drop down from the sky. I was thinking this story here would explain it... unless it did and I missed it 😅
I like the open-world concept of the campaign in Halo Infinite, but I do really feel like they should have stopped making Halo games after Reach. I can’t exactly blame Bungie for wanting to do something else, and I will be forever be grateful to them for giving us the gift that is the Halo franchise. But at the same time, I don’t care about Destiny, and wish they had either continued the Halo saga themselves in a moderate and sensible way (instead of whatever 343 is doing), or even just finished/retired the series with quiet dignity and perhaps a sense of gravitas.
It’s crazy Thryallslayer was alive during halo 2 and still is, he’s lived in a time where he served with Two different Arbiters, Ripa Moramee and Thel Vadam, that’s crazy
Not that I don’t love to see ur beautiful face, but I love to see the occasional no face video from you it feels like 2013 TH-cam videos with compilations of their favorite footage alongside a badass story

The elites constantly having some of if not the best dialogue in the franchise
I like how the horror set in as the elites realize that the blood isn’t of a human but of their own before chaos erupts
7 Minutes ago is diabolical, love the vid!
Absolutely heart breaking. Next time I pick up that sword, I'll never set it down. The elites never deserved this.
This story was amazing and a true return to form for Halo. If Halo Studios continues course corrections like this, then I’m excited for Halo again.
Halo 2 reminds me of Halo 2..
I LOVE EXTRA LORE THAT ADDS DEPTH & MEANIN TO THE THINGS IT'S MADE TO EXPAND ON IT'S THE BEST THING EVER!!!
This was a story that didn’t need to be made, but I’m glad it was, there is much behind the scenes of the games we never get to see. It was something sweet and tearjerking. I would love to see more effort like this from Halo Studios
maaan that was deep i always took a moment to look at the corpses when i first played now it has a hole different meaning this is why the eilites are my favorite there is always something else new to them thank you for covering this
Peeping this right before i play halo 2 again is amazing timing
The Great Schism was the og "Great Replacement Theory"
I mean the thrall slayer was in the terminals so its cool to know he was legit there
Fine. FINE! I’ll replay Halo 2!!
I’ve ALWAYS been so proud to fight alongside those two Hunters halfway through the level. It was a crime on Bungie’s part that we never had friendly Hunters in Halo 3. Now I love them even more. Maybe they recited some war poetry while they fought alongside Arbiter.
“Halo is a spartan story”
This Chronicle was an absolute banger 🔥
Man listening to these story Makes more sense now that i played Halo 2 on Legendary mode. This is why i love halo a lot from a kid to an adult.
_"My Path is already set, Avitus - it is _*_you,_*_ who has yet to choose."_
The cinematography was great in this video! Please more like this!
This is an amazing backstory and as a huge halo 2 fan this made me appreciate the lore behind this even more.
Halo 2 elites were the best style of elites in my opinion
I’m happy to announce I’m once again a Patreon member!!! keep up the hype my guy!
I would love to see somebody animate this story , it would be amazing
I wonder if those words by the Councilor was the reason Thrallslayer joined the banished... Seems to fit, y'know?
Listening to this story broke me. It was heartbreaking
The great schism is one of the coolest events in halo. The tension, the bretrayl, the slim opportunity for humanity opening up
GOD, this story ROCKED. It's such an awesome addition of depth to one of my favorite levels in the whole franchise.
Very few other game series would go into lore like this and that's why I love Halo.
It’s crazy Thryallslayer was alive during halo 2 and still is, he’s lived in a time where he served with Two different Arbiters, Ripa Moramee and Thel Vadam, that’s crazy
Top tier story telling. Wish they could make shows and games as well as they tell stories but we shall see what halo studios can do
Not that I don’t love to see ur beautiful face, but I love to see the occasional no face video from you it feels like 2013 TH-cam videos with compilations of their favorite footage alongside a badass story
Uprising now my favourite halo 2 level after seeing this vid my original favourite was quarantine zone
