    Is it just me or has his voice gotten better as he's gotten older?
    This is a man doing what he was truly meant to do.

      His voice has mellowed in perfection with his age. Robert is the absolute high priest of rock.

      It's gotten better. Robert has a much warmer tone and never oversings anymore. No frills, no tricks, just a singer who has honed his voice into a perfect instrument. At least to me anyway.

    Damn, he sounds good!! I really wish people would stop trying to criticize him for doing "Zep" songs. He is the co-writer for each and every one of those Zep songs. Do you realize that had Page enlisted the guy he initially wanted to sing in his band (Terry Reid), that many of the Zep songs we've come to know and love may never have been written?

    Plant's voice sounds just as good as it did in '73! How in the f*** does his voice not age?!? I think John Fogerty is the only other vocalist that is blessed like that.

    Sorry, but can we stop talking about why he doesn't do Zep anymore, just for a moment, and take in just what a powerful, brilliant, stunning singer Robert is? His raw, awesome energy, his majestic locks, his strut as though he owns the whole stage... He's so enviable. I just want to be him. He's just amazing.

    To all those that don't quite understand Plant's refusal to tour as Led Zeppelin again, I think I get it after seeing him live in St. Augustine on 3/10/16. He clearly still loves doing the Zeppelin tunes. Sometimes they even sound a lot like the arrangements from the old days. But most of the time, they do not. He loves to collaborate with other musicians, including the ones in his current band.
    Last weekend, he busted out a completely re-imagine arrangement of "Communication Breakdown" with a dance club trance beat and keyboards, combined with a banjo, a tenor guitar, and a one-stringed African ritti. I thought it was crazy and terrific.
    He loves to mix different musical traditions and instruments. Some folks don't like it when he messes around with the old arrangements. Personally, I love it. And it's want Plant wants to do, musically.
    He did that with Page and Jones back in the 70s. I don't think he wants to go back to the sparse quartet format. It's too limiting, especially with blokes he did it with 40 years ago, regardless of how talented they are and the magic they made.
    Now, if Page and Jones came to Plant and said "Hey, let's make some new music and take a big musical ensemble on the road with us so we can play anything we want," THEN Plant might listen. Still don't know if he'd do it, but I bet he'd listen.

    Wow. So Robert Plant turned 67 a couple of months after this, and he was wailing like a man possessed throughout "Trampled Underfoot". There was still some real power and, at times, some great distortion in those vocals. It would be quite impressive singing even for a singer in his 20s.

    He is the smartest person alive to not screw up their legacy. If they reform they will be old bad and he isn't money
    hungry like Jimmy. Love him for not giving in to the cash. They would have made more money than everyone has
    seen on a tour. He turned it down because he has class. If you look for videos in the future you will see awful
    versions of Queen, Foreigner, Yes and many more bands that sold out and are doing a parody of themselves.
    He knows Zeppelin was all four you can't plug somebody in. Bonzo is irreplaceable and no his son
    can't fill his shoes. He is making the right decision. Zeppelin at 70 is a bad idea.

We think he has lost it but every now and then he pulls out versions like this. Ther verse at 3:20 is classic plant. I have seen version on this tour of the Lemon Song and that was fantastic as well.

      Rebecca Horton I've never understood the physical attraction thing with Plant. I've always appreciated him through the music and emotion he brought to the table at points in his career. I've known friends who cared more about his looks than about the music. My oldest sister was obsessed with his package in the Song Remains The Same. I do and still find that odd, reducing someone to mediated image in terms of attractiveness. But, maybe that explains Justin Beiber. It's not about the music with him. It's about his looks and traits that are attractive to manipulate and hock him to a generation of female fans.

    I love Robert Plant. And I think it's interesting that he's clearly enjoying singing the Zeppelin songs on his current tour, but yet, doesn't want to tour with or as Led Zeppelin. Not to take anything away from the Sensational Space Shifters, but if he's going to sing the Zeppelin songs anyway, then..... you know.... Page, Jonesy and Jason are up for it. Wouldn't it be wonderful ????

    • @jeremyrosenberger3002
      @jeremyrosenberger3002 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Page said he couldn't foresee a Zep reunion. To him, Zeppelin was 4 magical powers coming together and that can't exist without John. So even Jimmy won't do it

    • @zoso1980
      @zoso1980 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      J Rose That isn't accurate. Jimmy has begged Plant to do it in years past. Jimmy has been haunted by the loss of Bonzo and Zep since 1980 and chased getting Page/Plant/Jones back together at various times. Only in the last couple years has he finally let go. Look at his sniping at Plant in the media (Ellen DeGeneres for example). Stating that the reason they didn't do more shows after the 02 and why not - that question needs to be posed to Plant.
      The bottom line here is Jimmy has come to terms that the cat and mouse game between he and Plant that's gone on for 25+ years, he's over it. To come so close after the 02 to forging ahead with something new to see Robert flitter away again - soured him. I think he realized for how much he wants to do it with Plant - Bob is going to be a tease and never really commit to it. Thus, Jimmy has to get on with it and do his own thing or he'll wither away waiting for something that'll never happen.
      I can't blame him. He knew something magical was still there at the 02. Robert wants to stay away from it and Jimmy for better or worse, had to accept that. I feel bad for Jimmy. He has this need for Plant and that magic. Plant has no need for it. It's like a marriage break up that one party doesn't want to move on because they were happy, while the other wasn't.
      The saddest thing is that there is still magic there - the 02 proved it. Plant is just gunshy about it because he loses alpha status and it overshadows anything he's done solo once the mothership in any form takes flight. He doesn't want to lose alpha trouser status.

    Why is it that all this is about what YOU want or think Robert Plant should do? You claim to be fans, but you sound more like children DEMANDING your own way, or you turn on Robert's legacy with a tantrum. Listen to him. Listen to what HE wants to do with his life. In a matter of months he lost his son and then his best friend who is the only one who could get him back on stage after Karac's death. It is all a painful, bitter time for him. Why should he want to relive it? Singing a song he personally wrote FOR Led Zeppelin to perform is very different from doing their entire catalog. Please, think before you throw such harsh judgements out; I am thrilled he is still out there singing for us at all.

    They skipped the two best parts of the song. The middle instrumental/extended guitar part and the awesome finger picking part at the end.

    And..... How can things like This (RS & Trmpld) get better with age? Seems hard to believe. Almost Overwhelming... just a bit..

      cragkeeper Better? In the eye of the beholder. These performances are karaoke with a cover band. Zep fans are going nuts just because we have been so starved of these songs even being performed we'll take just about anything. If anything, at lease these versions are truer than the bastardized versions of Zep songs Plant has favored in years past.

      Stephanie Sandlin well.... with page being incapable of playing and jones being a wak-a-doodle blue grass freak (or that crooked vultures psycho junk).....what's left? Chubby Jason ? Come on.

      Well, what is your suggestion, considering that Page can't play guitar anymore? And then - even if he could, they'd have to package a Led Zep for Dummies Tour. Nothing exceeded 1973's TSRTS. I've seen every Zep tour, and it was the best. The earlier shows were crazy, and the later shows were the decline due to addiction on the part of Page & Bonham. So, go watch the movie.

    They took out all of the Jimmy Page masterpiece parts of the rain song because clearly the beard can’t handle it
