i dont remember eating kfc with you..BUT this was very interesting..the NEW doctor seems very interesting i have to give it a watch at some point 10/10 video YOUR BEST ONE BY FAR sounded very confident with your delivery and the editing did not miss also :)) i really loved the music it flowed so well with the video!!
Those other rassilon, omega and all of those other time lords, are… also titles… it’s just that those timelords chose titles that sounded like actual names lol…. At least that’s always been my assumption…
I think it depends on the story whether they’re actual names or not. I think Borusa and Olystra are real names though. Either way, I think it’s just an oversimplification that didn’t need to be included
Something about ruby’s character being “off” and “too perfect” has to be a narrative choice. All the season threads can be woven together. If ruby is an essence of the pantheon or a plant by them, then she by design is meant to be the perfect companion. Coincidence at every turn and too easily fitting in.
I really hope there is a narrative reason for it. In retrospect, that would be an awesome move - getting me to genuinely question her characterisation because she’s supposed to be somewhat off. I’d definitely go back on my critique if this were the case. Buuuuut.. I am still sceptical about it being the case because a lot of other elements have been rushed through. Hopefully you’re right though!
I’d honestly disagree. I was unimpressed with some of the cinematography over the 60th specials, but Series 14/1 has had some gorgeous shots - even in Space Babies.
Haha I wasn't getting Lovecraft vibes more two different stories mashed together. But TBF I despise all of whitakkers era besides, the pilot, demons of Punjab and rosa
Also how much of the expected heavy handed political stuff do we get in there episodes. It's not even necessarily that I disagree with the messages more that the writing as often atrocious for them
@@randomedits4172 honestly I think it's the stuff in the space between realities with Ribbons and the Solitract itself that does it for me. Such fun concepts that don't really get explained (and I hope never do). Kinda reminded me of the movie The Void in some parts. Not gonna lie.. didn't feel much in the form of political commentary in It Takes You Away - and I even rewatched it semi-recently. Can't say I'm a fan of how that era handled politics - it felt very heavy-handed and not so inclusive in my opinion - but if that episode does have political stuff, I definitely didn't notice it. Maybe I'm due for another rewatch haha
@@MrGreaves oh no I didn't mean in it takes you away haha I just meant in the series in general 😂 but it can't be as disappointing as the ones who live finale TBF 😂 I refused to watch that once I heard t"the power of love wins "
I like that this review is critical of the new Doctor Who and is fairly balanced without being all about "wokeness". In addition to the points you raise, I dislike the switch to a more fantasy based genre and the clumsy heavy-handed crowbarring of cultural issues into the scripts. I didn't like how RTD introduced sex into Dr Who all the way back when Ecclescake was the Doctor, but at least it was relatively subtle. The comment about being "snowmanned" in The Church on Ruby Road was funny in that the people it would offend probably wouldn't have noticed it, but everything else seems like an attempt to bait the Daily Mail. For crying out loud - it's a family show, not everything has to be about gender! I'm withholding my judgement on Ncuti - it's still too early, but he hasn't been given the best material to work with. I do keep expecting him to start singing "I am, what I am, I don't give a damn"....but please no more singing. You can do that on Buffy, but this was supposed to be a science fiction/history show.
I try to keep politics out of this stuff (despite being quite a political person) because it only fuels negative discourse. As you say, there’s a lot of rage baiting at the moment (which is something I also don’t like in this era) and it’s spread nothing but toxicity among the fanbase. I also agree with the fantasy angle. I have no issue with Doctor Who stretching to fantasy on occasion but not all the time. Though so far it hasn’t bugged me too much. I also think Ncuti is fab! I’m waiting for a proper DOCTOR moment but so far, he’s got the essence of the character pretty spot on imo.
@@mayotango1317 People seem to have forgotten that a big chunk of Series 2 was pretty bad or mediocre, it had some gems but it was a pretty average season. Series 3 had more shine to it and less shitty episodes and series 4 is considered one of the best of the history of the show. Series 2 was half and half.
crazy to watch this after the finale and see how the most promising moments of these episodes amounted to nothing in the finale 😭
… 😔😔😔

"Interesting"? In the same way the Reliant Robin is an interesting addition to the racing car scene?
gotta be one of the most interesting comments i’ve ever read 😂

Your unwavering faith that Russell T Davis is surely a good writer is impressive.
Great video :))
It’s never an exciting time when seeing a Doctor Ben, I don’t care who it is.
Getting close to 10K subs
@@TheChrisperWhoIsCareless it's always exciting when that Doctor is Doctor Who x)
Is more Doctor Who that Chibnall.
The camera work feels cheap and to clean there’s not a lot of cinematography to it in some scenes

It takes you away as a good episode ill fight you on that haha
