    I think you forgot to bring in the elephant in the room - Liberty Media rejecting the bid from Andretti Global to enter the championship from 2025 onwards. Liberty's reasons for not accepting the bid is because of 'Andretti will bring nothing to the table that will improve the value of the championship' and 'Andretti needs F1 more than F1 needs Andretti'. Sure, teams like Haas and VCARB bring so much value to the sport - more than a well established operation that has teams in multiple series and the head honcho in Michael Andretti is a part of a motorsport dynasty with his father being a former Formula One Champion and Indianapolis 500 winner in Mario Andretti. This kinda irks me - they want F1 to expand, yet they don't want to go beyond the existing 10 teams and there are drivers in the lower categories that can't reach F1, beacuse most of the seats are hogged up

    • @Jerseygarage
      @Jerseygarage  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      They want American dollars and American eyes, but not a team. They said a team like Andretti won’t bring anything to the table, I literally can’t think of a better idea than Andretti Cadillac. The largest and most successful racing organization of all time partnering with the largest American auto manufacturer, it’s literally a set up for dominance.

    The only way you could made America like f1, is either a dominant u.s. based team or driver would have to win everything

    • @Jerseygarage
      @Jerseygarage  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Nah, I've been in love with F1 since 07/08. Biggest problem was always marketing it to the U.S., F1 used to never care. Even right now casual american F1 fans love it, but for actual fans, its just not a good time for the sport.
      When Haas was first in the sport, and up until like 2018/2019 when they were fighting top of the midfield it obviously made me become invested in them, but I still don't really have a favorite team or driver, like most fans.
      It would help, absolutely. If an American driver came in and dominated or a team, it would draw a ton of American fans, but there are other ways of doing that without it coming to that.
      Then again, that's just my opinion, and I have a record for being an absolute moron.

    I don't think i want good tracks like Watkins Glen or Indy ruined by the FIA just to be brought up to their standards but good video nonetheless.

    • @Jerseygarage
      @Jerseygarage  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Appreciate it!
      That is definitely an element of it, especially somewhere like The Glen or Laguna Seca, they would need massive changes to the circuit to bring them up to standards, and I think it would suit F1, but ruin other series like NASCAR or IMSA.

    • @maxb148
      @maxb148 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@Jerseygarage If I am reading this right I wouldnt say with changes the Glen and Laguna would be good F1 tracks. They are both relatively short, relatively thin and twisty tracks with few opportunities for passing for F1. Laguna has T1 and the Glen has the Bus-stop (granted they use the full layout and not one of the alternatives), I would put them in the same category as Hungary or Zandvoort for the track type and last year Hungary had the lowest amount of overtakes of any full race with 16 and Zandvoort did have 188 that was rain because in 2022 it had 23. So even with "better" American tracks they wouldnt be good for F1.
      Also Laguna would have to get rid of the corkscrew for F1 to race there and would lose the one thing that makes Laguna stand out, it is just as bad as F1 fans who say F1 should race at Sebring and give it a repave, like Sebring's tagline is "Respect the Bumps" for a reason.

    • @Jerseygarage
      @Jerseygarage  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@maxb148 I get the idea behind it. But I think Watkins Glen would be interesting, there is a history of F1 being there, albeit it was decades ago. I think that if they chose the right track layout, it would be awesome. Ironically, some of my favorite races of the year are Hungary and Zandvoort, I think they are fantastic tracks and very well designed, same as Laguna Seca and The Glen.
      As for Laguna Seca, I get why one would think that the corkscrew would theoretically have to go, but they could use a Monaco setup in their cars, which uses a different steering setup because of the tight corners, meaning that they hopefully wouldn’t have to get rid of it. On top of that, a lot of the latest tracks added like Las Vegas and Saudi Arabia are not safe tracks, so it seems that, for better or worse, it seems that track safety regarding layouts is starting to be eased up.
      Also you are 100% correct, the idea of Sebring being repaved just to watch Verstappen sail off into the distance is stupid, and defeats the whole purpose of the track.

    • @maxb148
      @maxb148 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @Jerseygarage Hungary and Zandvoort are great tracks, and are really fun to drive but to me as good as a track might be too drive if it doesn't produce good racing I can't really enjoy the track.
      For the corkscrew, it isn't really the steering lock but the floor and underside of the car, could struggle with the steep drop. The current cars might be able to handle it slightly better than the pre-2022 cars with the higher noses but they would need to do a test to find out and I would think certain teams wouldn't like a mandatory increase for the minimum ride height of the car just for Laguna Seca after the ride height stuff from 2022.
      The saftey side it quite strange to me because I agree tracks like Saudi and Vegas do seem quite unsafe with the long straights with lack of runoff, I think another issue is the track amenities and facilities like alot of American tracks don't have garages on the pitlane just pit boxes, they don't have paddock buildings along the pitlane, and Laguna Seca has like 2 grandstands (granted it wouldn't be that hard to add more in but it would reduce the amount of camping space).

    • @Jerseygarage
      @Jerseygarage  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@maxb148 to be fair, if F1 were to race at Laguna Seca, I highly doubt anyone who could afford a ticket to the race would be camping, the draw of a race like that would be so large I think it would be another case of over inflated ticket prices.
      The floor issue is a real possibility, I’d imagine it would be a massive hurdle to overcome. But so was racing at Miami and Las Vegas. Nobody except F1 wanted to race there, which just goes to show if they really wanted to race at any of those tracks in the U.S., I have no doubt that they could.
      With that being said, I’d buy a lottery ticket and stand in the middle of a field with a belt of raw steaks around my hip long before I’d ever count on F1 racing at those tracks, as I’m far more likely to win the lottery while simultaneously getting struck by lightning and getting attacked by a shark as opposed to F1 racing at Laguna Seca or The Glenn

    No Brazilians in the current grid, and the fact there's no way for new challengers to get in under the current configuration leave me with no driver or team I can relate to;
    Fanboys and fangirls who idolize drivers like popstars and react with anger to diverging opinions made the social media environment highly toxic;
    A poor racing product, and one car + driver pairing that's so far ahead to the point it's turned into a gossip show to keep drawing people's attention. It just seems like it's actually falling apart from inside.
    F1 is good at what it is, an engineering competition that brings history and prestige with it, and will most likely never lose its place as the world's premier racing series. But, due to the factors above, it's also the only championship that makes me really annoyed about right now (actually not, I'm also sad about the fall of World RX). I hate the tribalism that's developing within motorsports, but I'd rather take anything else if it stays driven by money and greedy politics so much like this.

    • @Jerseygarage
      @Jerseygarage  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It's something I didn't want to touch on in the video, but the infestation of mainstream morons fiending for drivers and treating them like demigods on social media has taken a real battering ram to my interest in Formula 1. I'm all for things like looking up to a driver, or having a favorite driver. Hell tbh if I ever met Fernando Alonso, Mika Hakkinen or Kimi Raikkonen I would probably pass out, but this tooth and nail fight over the drivers on social media is ridiculous. It's beyond annoying when people who chew on lead paint hyper analyze every drivers life and go crazy when they cock up even a little bit.
      Also you are 100% correct, Brazil has produced some of the best drivers on the grid, even drivers who don't ever get enough credit like Massa or Barichello are some of the best to ever turn a wheel in the sport IMO, the fact that the closest we have rn is Felipe Drugovich is frankly a crime.

    I remember when Liberty Media bought F1. I thought it was good for the sport in the US.
    But then since we got to the 2020s, F1/Liberty Media showed their true greedy selves.
    The state of F1 is so sad and pathetic, I watch less F1 races like I do to NASCAR.
    Whenever F1 has bad news and failures, it’s satisfying to watch.
    In my honest opinion, Liberty Media/Drive To Survive poisoned Formula 1

    • @Jerseygarage
      @Jerseygarage  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I was optimistic. Bernie was an incredibly smart man, but didn’t see the potential of bringing F1 to the 21st century.
      When liberty media came and did that, even in 2018 I was pretty happy, after like the 3rd season of drive to survive and the new crap races, I stopped watching.
      I want it to fail so that Liberty media pulls out of F1, I have yet to meet a person that actually likes the new Middle East/U.S. races.

      They did after they were pressured.
      Originally, they did advertise those things. They also let drivers do things like put rainbow flags on their helmets, and other statements like that. But after a while, they were pressured a lot, and Formula 1, along with the FIA, banned drivers from doing it at any races on the calendar.
      If I remember correctly, Lewis Hamilton and Vettel called them out for it, but nothing has really come of it since.
