It’s painful to think of all the devices built millennia ago that we have lost because the medium was ephemeral. This video is a beautiful example of the dedication and skill it took to build things before we could just reach for the power tools
With modern skills and tools a craftsman can create something that is FAR superior in function in 2 days instead of 2 months. But then again, you need a craftsman. With skills. To create anything. I highly doubt you even understand what I am saying and never will.
@ In my previous career I rebuilt and restrung pianos, so I believe I have at least an inkling of what craftsmanship is. I think you may be reading something into my comment that I did not intend. I’m in no way saying that the wood from a tree laboriously chopped down with a stone axe is superior to that of one felled with a chainsaw. My point was that people were intelligent and creative long before we had the vast metallurgical resources we currently have, and that I bemoan the loss of ephemeral wood, leather, and natural twine objects they no doubt created millennia ago as those objects could give us a much better view into those past societies-and how they solved their problems >with the materials they had at hand
@@Scot-p1v The Archimedes' screw, also known as the Archimedean screw, hydrodynamic screw, water screw or Egyptian screw,[1] is one of the earliest hydraulic machines named after Greek mathematician Archimedes who first described it around 234 BC, although the device had been used in Ancient Egypt. It is a reversible hydraulic machine, and there are several examples of Archimedes screw installations where the screw can operate at different times as either pump or generator, depending on needs for power and watercourse flow.
So true.
@@Bialy_1 sure, but do you even know what was created fisrt? Archimedes' screw or dragon bone? And I'm a lover of pre sophists greek culture. But just because of that I know Greeks learnt from Egyptians and from close and far east peoples. And Chinese people invented a great amount of the technologies and gadgets we still use today, so I would say dragon bone seems to be pioneer and Archimedes screw a sophisticated version of that. Anyway the crafting is superb
This is absolutely astounding. Not a single modern tool used and no fasteners/joiners used except for wood. Admiration and greetings from Africa.
Think was how things were done till maybe 100 years ago. People just have short memories.
@@SilvaDreams I was not alive 100 years ago so I cannot remember it.
that file looks modern....
@@jimlassiter749 Could be - I am not an expert on hand tools - wish I was though. I enjoy working with my hands much more than my daily desk job grind.
Could be but files havent changed much @jimlassiter749
I've never seen so much patient dedication and craftsmanship in a single video. Thank you for sharing!
i used to love watching the channel primitive technology and still do but ive always loved mechanics and how stuff operates this feels like middle ground its more modern and its genius hats off to the people that designed and built these back in the day
Watching this man's craftsmanship and (Shoyan's) is truly a great way to start a morning.
Reminds me of the Archimedes screw. Gotta love ancient technology.

Thank you! Really appreciate the work you put in to doing this!
@@OscelotTheCat Thank you for your comment, it made me happy :o)
Thank you for explaining everything! Appreciate it
好強的工藝,第一次看到這種東西,好特別,以前總是水車之類的,很感謝您復刻了傳統工藝分享給大家,很珍貴
That device is gorgeously crafted
I admire your attention to the details. I love to see craftsmen using traditional tools like this. Well done.
Incredibly executed woodworking abilities and so well documented. I. Have many of my grandfathers hand tools that were used on the farm 100 years ago. I still use and care for these tools today, I am 76 years of age.😊😊😊
I never miss any of your videos, I find them extraordinary! The feeling that each construction or creation transmits with the methods of the ancients fills me with emotion and a very distant affection for other times and another culture totally different from mine, thank you for all this. Greetings from Argentina
Beautiful. Your peace is evident in your expression.
Artisan and engineer, outstanding! Well put together and presented with awesome bonus views of the sky, land, and tradition, truly beautiful. Interestingly enough, I see so much untapped potential, with an alternator at the wheels you would have electricity too with the dragon in the water and arms repurposed to power something. That thing is a motor
I appreciate you taking the time to record & upload these, thank you!
Geniale Idee, und meisterlich hergestellt. Respekt an den meister seines Fachs.
I love finding your videos in my feed. Amazing work!
Beautiful Work as Always!
Excellent video as always! What a massive undertaking!
Very good craftsmanship & it's so good to see traditional skills are still being used in modern times 👍
Precision is what allows this to work so well.
Brilliant. Very clever. Ingenious. ❤❤❤
Super impressive! Amazing craftsmanship.
WOW! Great woodworking!
Thank you for this fine work, my Brother.
How amazing. You really have to wonder about the first person to do this, and what they were like! At least I do!
Been binging your videos all night, they’re fantastic to watch.
Astounding, indeed. Great and beautiful job also nice to watch. 10/10
Amazing! Handmade wooden water pump. I enjoyed the whole process!
These videos are so enjoyable to watch. I'd love to see/hear were he learned all of this from....family, friend, mentor. It'd be great to see some of his back story. Such an amazingly talented person, to craft this all by hand with no modern tools, the precision is astounding. Truly amazing.
Very cool, Thank You For Sharing!
What a magnificent device of truly unpleasant noises! i'm so proud of him
Excellent video and a strong reminder that if you are making more than 2 of any given part that you should make a jig/pattern.
Thanks for sharing your passion. Greetings from germany.
Beautiful video and amazing craftsmanship!
Magnificent, hard work done, once ready, it is a wonderful work of art made by a master of wood. congratulations master, keep going showing your ancient art to the world. thanks for sharing it. many successes. Greetings from Perú 🇵🇪.
Wow. this is my first time seeing wooden chain. The man who created this first must be brilliant.
Well done! You taught me something Sir!
Beautiful work - thank you for sharing.
The patience and skill with minimal tools is impressive.
This is so awesome 😮 amazing 😃 thank you for sharing this 👏👍
Awesome 👏 I think you’re a time traveler. Extremely talented artist and craftsman.

Incredible, practical and satisfying.
Roy Underwood level craftsmanship and ingenuity there
I see that there us a lot of negative energy in the comments! I'm sorry! Most of this new Western Society you have been plunged into will adore you or despise you for your beauty your positive energy and artistic abilities! It's a strange society but I've been on this earth seventy six yrs and I still don't understand it! Please continue to share your ancestors knowledge you have worked hard to get to this place! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Entertaining and informative as usual.
Wood working with beutiful music brings peace to me, just subscribed, thank you for this.
Semangat Lu Lei..!!
Hormat dan kagum dari Indonesia 🇮🇩
What a cool machine! I've never heard of this before
Your channel and Liziqis always bring me peace. I like that you live in nature its better than working in warehouses and traveling on long roads. I want to live just like you and her. Traveling on a horse instead of a car and living where there is no one around. Giving to my neighbors and inviting them over to eat. Im only 24 but I want to live like this.
田园主义
"and living where there is no one around. Giving to my neighbors and inviting them over to eat" .................. slight PROBLEMO: how do you 'give to my neighbours' when: 'living where there is no one around' that don't add up. somewhat faulty logic imo
Fascinating. Thank you.
Very cool device. Very nice work!
Beyond amazing. 👍
Waterwheel conveyor belt system. Genius 😊
Could you please make your content longer? It's very relaxing and I'm at peace watching your videos. 🙏🏼❤️

I came across your channel watching you make an umbrella! Do you sell any of the items you make? I love watching and learning so much of the history of your country! It's absolutely amazing!🤷🤔🤷🤗❤️🔥👍.
AMAZING 👍
Thanks for demonstrating why modern technology is superior. All that work for such little result.
Nice tech!
Impressive!
keren dan luar biasa seperti biasanya 👏👏
Very nice.
Thank.very good❤
😅 oh god! He back
Works good.
Simply AMAZED by all this ancient wisdom!!! Thanks for sharing your knowledge and culture!
Amazing
That’s pretty intricate technology
That is because it's not ancient unless you are a zoomer and 100 years is ancient.
Extraordinary craftmanship. Who designed the first Dragon Bone Waterwheel?
Ни чего себе! круто!
You should get Ryobi as a sponsor
Yo this is fresh
I shoulda skipped ahead, I thought it was going to use water current to drive the pumping action. Nice craftsmanship
Time, Patience and great craftsmanship with so few tools, absolutely brilliant 👏.
But I have to ask ??😊 where does he get all his milled / planned timber from ???
Judging by the scenery he looks like he lives in the middle of nowhere ??
For me to go and buy that amount of planned timber would cost me a fortune 🙃.
Having said that I applaud your skills and dedication to the art of wood working that you obviously have a great passion for. 😊
Cheers Les.
Well, I'm impressed. Good job!!! 🦘🦘🦘
Seems to work better than the screw. Man power alone moved a lot of water.
Bro is living his best life
really ??

This video shows a part of Hong Kong unfamiliar to most of us!
Now he can wash the rocks next to the river! 🤗
I like that you use dipping ink
Bro built a wood bike chain! Epic!
太強大了吧!🎉❤
More a water motivator/elevator than a pump.
The prominent requirement of a pump is the use of suction and/or pressure.
I did enjoy seeing someone use old techniques and the result was impressive but I think one aspect was missed. From where did the maker get the square timbers and flat planks? That in itself would be a journey.
homebase for the wood, and he needs a diversion to the Tool Store for tools, too
