Just incredible craftsmanship, especially the joinery- there’s not a tool used that you couldn’t make yourself, not a single nail or commercial product. And the idea of using rammed earth for the “millstones” with hardened bamboo slices as teeth Is so ingenious. And he got to make it in the mountains with wildlife all around and the clouds touching the earth. I love the old ways.
How do you know that? It’s like saying that craftsmen at Renaissance fair are fake! Of course they are not from medieval times, but they follow the same techniques, that ancient craftsmen or using to our best knowledge and understanding.

Awesome! Although when I first saw his drill, I thought he was trying to start a fire. He has so much skill, patience and craftsmanship. I hope that his channel grows ❤.
Different places, different materiale. That soil seems like clay so it solidified when it dried out. Where I live all the grinding utensils were normally made out of stone or volcanic stone. I loved helping my great grandma when I was little but distinctly remember that the stoneware made of normal stone was heavy but compared to volcanic stone. Normal stone was light AF. What I love about this is how we humans get to the same answer with different approaches and how the environment we live in shapes the process of getting said answer. It's amazing how far our ancestors went by just skill, patience and intuition and it saddens me that the era of internet is great in some regards, in others, we are losing skilled people on manual labor. Maybe we no longer need a mill out of stone, earth or clay but the whole process, the technique on how he handled the wood, it's still valuable today and sadly that art and craft is slowly fading away.
Согласна на все 100% сейчас все делают современные видео но ни кто ни хочет помнить историю. Каждая вещь повседневной жизни имела частичку жизни человека и адский труд. Спасибо за такие видео этому парню. С приветом из России 😊
What a journey. He starts chopping wood, and I get absorbed in how precise and practiced his carpentry is. By the time I get to him building a giant wheel out of wood and specially mixed mud, I'm thinking JFC the amount of work that goes into making a single wheel is ludicrous by today's standards. I had completely forgotten the point of the whole vid was to mill some rice. Great vid, music was a little mid tho
I've seen a British guy living in Japan made a wooden one. He simply carved two pices of wood, shaped like a stone mill and it takes less work to make and easier to maintain. And better yet, someone can figure out how to add the winnowing system below the wooden mill and therefore get your grain ready to use with less effort.
Being able to use a chisel, saw, and axe in such precise ways takes a lot of experience and skill. I've worked with wood somewhat, and I envy his results. Power tools make you spoiled!
Wow well done and this is really interesting to how to make it. I thought you need big stones to make that grinding stone I mean soil machine. watching this really calmed my mind.
that's a very interesting chisel. nothing like the Japanese or European design which is straight and has one flat side and one tapered side. This chisel is tapered not only on both sided of the blade (cutting edge), but the shank is also tapered.

I am surprised his videos don't have more views. This content is worth watching.
In China, he has over 1 million followers
kurang promosi di TH-cam dan media sosial lain. tapi di media sosial China mungkin sudah jutaan pengikut.

天工開物記載這些工藝技術
This is the first time that I saw a mill using soil. My grand parents used logs with metal teeth.

Although the 土臼(唐臼) used in Japan are the same as those used in China, I did not know how to make them. I learned something new from the 天工開物.

All is an ancient mechanism is really nice good to have it great work to show the world again this method
Now that was truly fascinating to watch! Bamboo is so incredibly versatile, and not a power tool to be seen.
What I see is a lot of hard work ,Skills , and patience..
