I find it awesome that Stannis can see the black (smuggler) and the white (hero), and still manage to find the perfect middle ground. That is a real test of Stannis’s character and shows that he is more than a grumpy moral absolutist obsessed with justice/order. Most lords and kings would either solely reward or solely punish Davos for his actions. Stannis did both at the same time.
Yep, a lot of people look at good and bad deeds like pluses and minuses, once you add them together you decide if they are positive or negative and thus worthy of reward or punishment. Stannis rewards or punishes for each individual action rather than acting like it's ok to do bad things if you remember to balance the books.

I feel that the dislike for Stannis at court in KL was mostly because the players of the "game" knew that if Stannis came to power the "game" would be over. No way Baelish and Varys or the Lannisters would last long under a Stannis reign.
I've always kind of thought that the reason why Stannis is so physically different than Robert and Renly is because he gave little Renly his share of food during the siege and now is bald and thinner because he was protecting his little brother.

So the first 19-20 years of his life he was fed well, 3-6 months he didn’t eat well at all and then he’s been eating fine again until going north. Those two shadow babies are why he looks gaunt now. This is mentioned in the book.

Aerys believed that everyone was out to get him, that one day treason would get him killed... and he was right, Ned's dad had 'southern ambitions', Rhaeger was obviously plotting a coup and he was killed by his own kingsguard (although Jaime was right to do so). Rhaeger seemed to be obsessed with prophecy and you only need to look at Melisandre to see how dangerous that kind of belief can be for a ruler with absolute power. We don't know much about Rhaeger, only that he was charismatic enough to have cult like love from knights years after his death and that he abandoned his wife and children for a girl who's consent remains questionable. Maybe he would have been a great king but I think he would have been the worst king to ever rule.

Azor Ahai Exactly and the manner in which he was killed, really put me off the show, don’t even get me started on the injustice done to Littlefinger. One of the smartest and most cunning character in literary history beaten at his own game by two teenage girls. They could’ve made it more believable by building Sansa character arc in a way which she started to control her own destiny instead of being forced to feign courtesy in situations she didn’t want to be. For example in season 5 she could’ve manipulated the Bolton’s and escape Winterfell. It would’ve made her seem that she’s finally the one in control and has learnt how to play the game instead they rushed it all and gave Littlefinger a death he didn’t deserve.

Ned is quiet and can appear cold to strangers and foes but he's warm to his friends and family. Stannis on the other hand is warm or kind to pretty much nobody.
My King... I would die for him in battle with my eyes closed, I will follow that man in his quest for the Iron Throne. Is him or Jon. Those two are my favorites. The outcast child of both families.

Poor Proudwing :( That makes me really sad. And I'm surprised that Patchface, being as "splendid" as he was, was going to be kept at Storm's End, and not at KL with Aerys. Yuck. Imagine being gifted with Selyse. Ugh. Moustache. Ugh. Ugh....
We all know the real hero of the story is Selyse's mustache, and Stannis for having the courtesy not to say anything about it. On a more serious note, Stannis got a raw deal. But his "break before he bends" nature certainly didn't help him, and I think he doomed his cause the moment he accepted Melisandre, who actively burns the gods of everyone in Westeros.
One thing I've always wondered about Stannis: given the penalty he handed to Davos saying 'one good deed does not undo the bad one' and his inner struggle whether to rebel against his king and be loyal to his brother or remain loyal to his king... has Stannis penalised himself for rebelling to his king? Clearly, given the fact he was conflicted meant he considered rebelling to his king and breaking his oath as something bad. According to the logic he applied to Davos penalty and reward, surely he should have penalised himself too?
I'm fairly certain Robert meant bestowing Dragonstone on Stannis instead of Storm's End was meant to be a slight, not an honor. I think it's confirmed in dialogue.
I don’t think he meant it as slight Dragonstone has always been a seat for the heir to the iron throne and Stannis at that time was Roberts heir and it requires a strong Lord and Renly was just a child so I think that’s why

Poor Proudwing :( That makes me really sad. And I'm surprised that Patchface, being as "splendid" as he was, was going to be kept at Storm's End, and not at KL with Aerys.
Yuck. Imagine being gifted with Selyse. Ugh. Moustache. Ugh. Ugh....
We all know the real hero of the story is Selyse's mustache, and Stannis for having the courtesy not to say anything about it.
On a more serious note, Stannis got a raw deal. But his "break before he bends" nature certainly didn't help him, and I think he doomed his cause the moment he accepted Melisandre, who actively burns the gods of everyone in Westeros.

Reading Stannis chapter is like watching is someone is playing Heros of might and magic 3 on impossile dificulty
Far before Mad Daenerys, The Short Night and other such abominations created by D&D, I hated the show for what they did to the character of Stannis.
One thing I've always wondered about Stannis: given the penalty he handed to Davos saying 'one good deed does not undo the bad one' and his inner struggle whether to rebel against his king and be loyal to his brother or remain loyal to his king... has Stannis penalised himself for rebelling to his king? Clearly, given the fact he was conflicted meant he considered rebelling to his king and breaking his oath as something bad. According to the logic he applied to Davos penalty and reward, surely he should have penalised himself too?
He probably felt like losing Storms End and getting Dragonstone was the punishment
GRRM needs you two to help him finish the book. I think one thing getting in his way is he’s lost track of all the different threads.
I'm fairly certain Robert meant bestowing Dragonstone on Stannis instead of Storm's End was meant to be a slight, not an honor. I think it's confirmed in dialogue.
I don’t think he meant it as slight Dragonstone has always been a seat for the heir to the iron throne and Stannis at that time was Roberts heir and it requires a strong Lord and Renly was just a child so I think that’s why
