Edited to add suggestions. Lol. Rhythm Nation, Miss You Much, Escapade, What Have You Done For Me Lately, Control, Nasty, That’s The Way Love Goes.
She had "it" as early as Michael Jackson's Off The Wall album demos from 1978. Have you heard Michael's demo of Don't Start Til You Get Enough? It's him and Janet on rhythm - which Quincy basically recreated in the finished song, with stellar musicians albeit, but still based on the original demo rhythm... th-cam.com/video/R2IzJihXPEM/w-d-xo.html

"Miss You Much" and "Alright" are great. Honestly, the album Rhythm Nation 1814 might have the most Number 1 singles of any performer. "Black Cat" rules, too
RN 1814 had 4 #1 songs on it in the USA (Miss You Much, Escapade, Black Cat & Love Will Never Do (Without You). She came close with the #2's Rhythm Nation & Come Back To me. The record is 5 #1's tied between Michael Jackson's album "Bad" & Katy Perry's album "Teenage Dream".

How could you not know any Janet Jackson songs? She was a superstar in the 80s! Try one of her biggest hits, "Nasty Girl"! Also check out the song she did with Michael, "Scream."
Janet is a legend. One of the best selling and most awarded artists of all time with a huge discography that has set numerous records and she's still going strong today. She belongs in the same level of Madonna, Prince and yes, her brother (though she is a very different artist in her own right). Paula did choreograph 2 of her videos of of her Control album; What Have you Done for me Lately and Nasty. My favorite artist of all time. I'm so glad you guys are discovering her.

My favourite, Black Cat. There was swing in the 40s, 50s and early 60s. Then there was go go music for awhile. In the 70s the focus was on rock and dancing was more of a shuffle. With disco the focus was on dancing for awhile and computer generated sound.
When the Pleasure Principle video came out, people were thinking it was the passing of the baton from Michael to Janet because Janet seemed to take it all to another level. Notice how the sound reminds you of Paula Abdul and Pebbles "Mercedes Boy" as will as so many of the hits of that era (the electronic drums especially).
No way, listened to Janet more than Micheal, but no way was that the passing of the Baton. Janet sold 10 mil of Control and Micheal 35 mil of the Bad album. Janet came into her own but there was never a baton passed on. lol
I remember my jaw dropping the first time I saw this video back in the day - this is my favorite choreographed song of Janet's...no other dancers...just her...no distractions...beautiful women and dancing in the 80s...it was the best time!
My daughter had to answer a question in 1st grade. What do you want to be when you grow up? Other said Dr's nurses teachers.. My daughter said Janet Jackson. The teacher said she was the only one who said a person. She thought it was adorable. My daughter was a dancer till she was 16.
This video is ICONIC! Every young guy was in love with her, especially my husband! This video is an example of why Janet Jackson is still around. There are grown auntie's that can still dot his dance by heart if you ask LOL. One of the best entertainers. Dance, sing, acting, triple threat!

Amber! You are precious!!! You would have loved it back then! It was so fun! Y'all Janet Jackson! Her 1st album (I think?) Control! Check it out! Watch Nasty Boy's!!!🎉
It’s so sad that the people buried Janet’s career after that Super Bow incident from the top of their false morality, she didn’t deserve that, no one deserves. I am so happy that people as you mother stands for her! Thanks to momma! 🥰👏🏻👏🏻 Let’s wait a while is a beautiful balad of hers.
She was every bit of her brother as far as singing ,dancing and charisma. I always thought as iconic an popular as her brother was and still is, she was every bit of the entertainer he was.
"Black Cat" and "Rhythm Nation" are her 2 biggest contributions to music. Since you two have affection for rocker chicks, I say go for "Black Cat" next because it features some stellar playing from Vernon Reid, guitarist of Living Colour.
If you're talking about talented 80s ladies please include Sheena Easton, she did everything from pop to dance to country to ballads. She had (and still has!) an incredible voice. Some of her upbeat 80s hits include The Lover in Me, Strut, Telephone, Devil in a Fast Car, Sugar Walls and U got the look (a duet with Prince, they were regular collaborators throughout the 80s), Sheena worked with a lot of legends besides Prince (Kenny Rodgers, Nile Rodgers, Babyface) and she had a Bond theme to add to her credit. Lots to choose from for Female Friday!
Ya’ll need to do a Q&A. What songs did you fall in love with, what song did you pass on to your friends, what songs did you add to your play lists, what songs got you emotional? Just to name a few. Your audience would love to hear from you. R.
So many Janet Jackson classics to recommend right here! Once you go down the rabbit hole, you realise that Janet was a superstar in her own right and was never in her brother's shadow. I'm just gonna leave this list right here: Rhythm Nation Miss You Much Escapade Runaway If Black Cat That's The Way Love Goes Together Again Scream (with Michael Jackson) Love Will Never Do Without You Enjoy!
I am having the best time watching these videos and watching you both react to the fantastic music. You both look wonderful and it’s so much fun enjoying this weekend with you both. I’m a huge Janet Jackson fan, and you need to play All right, what have you done for me lately, If, rhythm nation, control…. I could go on and on. Explore Janet!
"Rhythm Nation" came out in my senior year and it was what we hoped for in the future: "Like minded individuals bound together by our beliefs, pushing toward a world rid of color lines". She was also the first woman on television with a shape like mine(in the 1980s, it didn't seem like anyone had a rear end).
I don't know. You'd have had to see Janet's figure live. All around the girl was bad! Not just rear. And I don't know where you were in the 80's, but like today, It was nothing to see Sisters all day everyday with big rears.
My ABSOLUTE FAVORITE MUSIC VIDEO of all time. What I like is it's just her as a young woman with a bright future ahead of her and fighting for her place in the world. That was the whole theme of the Control album: I am woman hear me roar.
Janet was just inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. "Rhythm Nation" was her magnum opus. Anything from that album is a banger. You should do "Nasty", though, if only because Paula Abdul is also in the video. As for 80s babes, you also had Madonna, Whitney, Annie Lennox, Pat Benatar, Joan Jett, Gloria Estefan, Tina Turner, Cyndi Lauper, Bonnie Tyler, Sade, and, of course, Dolly, just to name a few.
They're totally unphased by her locking moves, jumping on a chair and tilting it over and her doing the backflip. I do know that it was Paula Abdul who choreographed JJ's 1st 3 music videos for Control album: What Have You Done For Me Lately, Nasty and When I Think Of You but for this music video for Pleasure Principle I think it's someone else.
"Again" and "let's wait awhile" are great r&b jams. "If", You want this, and Scream", are my favorite dance tunes from her. I can't believe you guys don't know her music
Janet was my childhood sweetheart!! From her singing arena to playing Charlotte in The Fresh Prince!!. She had so many great hits throughout her career. It's too bad that her performance with Justin Timberlake caused the industry to black ball her music . .. while nothing happened to Timberlake. Such a tragedy for an extremely talented artist!!!!
This was one of the cutest vids by Janet Jackson, no makeup, wearing jeans... GREAT hair.. truly "girl next door".. not that all made up mess with tons of icky makeup. And a killer dancer.
MJ and Janet inspired each other. His work from Bad onwards wouldn't be the same had Janet not existed. She also is responsible for introducing Hip Hop into R&B and pop. From the beats to the dancing. You can see the inlfunece of Nasty in Bad and When I Think Of You in The Way You Make Me Feel.
She is a BEAST....she was one of those artists that you were always looking for that next hit to drop and knew that it would be hot! The 80s ...for me...really were the greatest...with the advent of Mtv...we had a new way to interact with our favorite artists and since the medium of Mtv/music videos were new...there was sooo much musical experimentation with sounds and visuals that we really had just a huge variety of styles present.
May I recommend a very underrated group from the 70s… That Tavares! A group of brothers who blew it out in the 70s with disco and other songs they did very well very talented young man. Thank you
The classic 80’s song for a goofy Halloween video for me is Touch Of Grey by The Grateful Dead. Make sure you get the official video not the studio version.
Janet is a superstar! Any of her songs. She has so many number one songs. What Have You Done for Me Lately, When I Think of You, Miss You Much, Rhythm Nation, Black Cat, If, Again,…I could go on and on.
I remember an ex-gf dragging me along to a Janet Jackson concert in the early 90s... Tbh I didn't want to go because I hadn't got into her music beforehand... I left the concert as a newly appreciative fan because I was quite surprised at the standard of her performance. She's a Jackson through and through for sure... I enjoyed Michael's concert more, of course 😏 Most of Janet's choreography was done by Paula Abdul.
JANET is the queen of dance! REACT to Rhythm Nation and Scream with Michael Jackson. you'll understand even more why she's a blueprint to your Beyonce's and Rihanna's
You guys should react to “What Have You Done For Me Lately” by Janet… Paula Abdul is in the video and also sings back up I believe .. btw, y’all are awesome!!
The updated suggestions: Christopher Cross - ‘Sailing,’ Kayne Brown - ‘Worship You,’ Kool and The Gang - ‘Celebration,’ Luther Vandross - ‘Dance With My Father,’ and last but not least, for Female Friday… Roberta Flack - ‘First Time Ever I Saw Your Face’ & Sugarland - ‘Stay’ (the singer is Jennifer Nettles.)
When I was kid we had VHS tapes so I would rush home every day after school and try to learn the dancing in Pleasure Principle - man this is a trip down memory lane. 🥰

Let’s wait a while is a beautiful balad of hers.
So darn true! Plus Justin got off scott free!
I agree. She is too talented to be remembered for that one moment to be all she is known for.
She didn't die off for me! I have been a Janet fan from day 1 and I still am to this day!
Her lead single was already flopping before the Super Bowl and she was already 20 years into her career. She was going to fall off a cliff regardless.
Black Cat f'n rocks!!
Finally yall doing Janet but wrapped up on her dancing. Her lyric content and video concepts are always on point.
Janet is queen and she has the best catalogue. Thank you guys keep givin us more Janet ❤
Loved your reaction!!! . Paula cheorgraphed Janet's first 4 videos from the Control album, she did not choreograph "Pleasure Principal".
Ya’ll need to do a Q&A. What songs did you fall in love with, what song did you pass on to your friends, what songs did you add to your play lists, what songs got you emotional? Just to name a few. Your audience would love to hear from you. R.
My boy got that Coming to America Sexual Chocolate thing going on...lol!
LOL
yup! lol
So many Janet Jackson classics to recommend right here! Once you go down the rabbit hole, you realise that Janet was a superstar in her own right and was never in her brother's shadow. I'm just gonna leave this list right here:
Rhythm Nation
Miss You Much
Escapade
Runaway
If
Black Cat
That's The Way Love Goes
Together Again
Scream (with Michael Jackson)
Love Will Never Do Without You
Enjoy!
You should listen to Lisa Lisa and the Cult Jam.
"Head to Toe"
That's one of my favorites from my childhood.
@@SoniaRossIntuitiveMessenger Janet, Paula, Shelia E, these were amazing women of the 80s
Yep! Yep!💕 Lisa Lisa looks a lot like Paula Abdul to me?!😁
@@mmt123mimi3 yessss. , all of these awesome women had a similar style.
My favorite Janet song is "Nasty"!
"Oh You Nasty Boy!"
Yeassssss queeen
Y’all should have done “What have you done for me lately” She was decked out in 80s gear in that video
Paula Abdul was Janet's choreographer but for pleasure principle it was choreographed by Barry Lather. Check out his video. Love in the 3rd degree.
Alright Whooty!! Lol
The JANET JACKSON rabbit hole is long and deep. SO many hits ❤
And Rhythm Nation album, which he adored, influenced Dangerous. He wanted an album like that.
Thank you
Janet was a very good performer. Good singer and great dancer.
All decades had great female artists.
Which is the best is purely subjective and a matter of personal taste.
I LOVED that Janet could give you an awesome performance while being dressed casually.
Paula Abdul choreographed several videos for the Control album - that's it. :)
Janet was a HUGE star in her own right! She moved out of her brother's shadow and wowed us all!!!
She has so many great songs!! "What have you done for me lately" Eddie Murphy talks about in one of his standup specials from the 80s
Janet is the 👑, point blank period.
The updated suggestions:
Christopher Cross - ‘Sailing,’
Kayne Brown - ‘Worship You,’
Kool and The Gang - ‘Celebration,’
Luther Vandross - ‘Dance With My Father,’
and last but not least, for Female Friday…
Roberta Flack - ‘First Time Ever I Saw Your Face’
& Sugarland - ‘Stay’ (the singer is Jennifer Nettles.)
When I was kid we had VHS tapes so I would rush home every day after school and try to learn the dancing in Pleasure Principle - man this is a trip down memory lane. 🥰
