The video director Dominic Sena, that's just his editing style besides they had crash mats on the floor to cushion the fall because she was so high in the air. But yes she did in fact do it. You can see outtakes of her missing the chair, falling while spinning and other video bloopers. It's out there on the net.
I remember that when this video dropped, I was in complete awe. I bought the vhs video of it so I could watch it over and over, and it cemented my total admiration for her as a performer. I was absolutely hooked after PP.
