Hey guys, usually when I post a flea market video I get a lot of comments asking why I skip over so many comics or why I didn't buy certain ones. Not only did I cut a ton of flea market footage, I even cut a 2 minute segment where I addressed this to get ahead of those comments! (I try to be a harsh self-editor). So realizing I should have kept those two minutes in, I'll answer those questions here and pin it for all to see.
First, I don't actually skip over any comics. I usually film while I quickly peruse what's in the box and if it looks good, I'll often put the camera down and go through one at a time; it's easier with both hands and I can look up comics I'm not sure about (and again, it cuts down on the amount of sheer footage I end up with).
Second, in regards to why I don't buy this comic or that comic, there could be any number of reasons: it was too expensive, it was in poor condition, I already own it, I don't collect/like that title, or most likely... I'm not rich! I can't buy every comic I see especially at the world's biggest flea market. I totally understand how frustrating it can be to spot a comic you really like and then watch me breeze right by it, but I do collect on a budget and more likely than not I give most comics I see some good consideration before deciding not to get it.
That being said if you saw something you think I missed, whether it was a great price, a minor key, or a comic that you personally would have snagged, ABSOLUTELY post about it down below and let me know! I'd love to hear what other collectors would do if they were in my shoes!
Anything I don't have I buy lol
2:55 Blink & you’ll miss it Silver age 1966 ‘Detective Comics’ #347 ‘The Strange Death of Batman’
CAMEOS: ‘AQUAMAN’ ‘SUPERMAN’ ‘GREEN LANTERN’ ‘THE FLASH’
‘ATOM’ GREEN ARROW’ ‘HAWKMAN’ ‘WONDER WOMAN’
Another great video Mike 😊
Uncanny Xmen 150 to this day is my all time favorite book. My dad saw I was really getting into comics, I was blown away with the release of xmen #1 it had blown me away and was all in. On Easter morning my dad had 150 in my Easter basket. It was my first “old” issue, for me as an 11 year old it was like I got a copy of hulk 181. This comic was truly got me into comic collecting.
I have never seen a Whitman Micronauts 1! I never knew they existed. That was kind of cool to see. Again they really had allot of comics at Brimfield! Another picker’s paradise!
A Dave Stevens Sheena book is no girly comic! That’s grade A good girl art. Rawr
If I never hear the word “ key” when comics are involved, I’d be a happy guy!
Death of Hobgoblin was that Spider-man\Wolverine book. Death of Ned Leeds amazing writing shows Logan from a different perspective. I dont recall the number. Great buys!
That Elvira was amazing pick up cheap. I believe it’s a Brian Bolland cover. That’s why it looks so good!
Huge missed opportunity with Sharon Ventura to be called Miss Thang, would have been sassy. But seriously, nice pickups.
I love seeing old X-Men books, no matter what.
That's in fact the last issue of DC Super-Stars, a fun title - you never knew what you'd get from month to month, whether Legion reprints, first appearances (Star Hunters in #16) or stories linked by theme (#9).
The Micronauts are based on Mego's toys of the same name, although writer Bill Mantlo came up with some new characters just for the comics. #1 to #12 feature awesome Michael Golden art.
Ah Elvira, such a fun host of B-Grade movies (and C- and D-Grade). #1's cover is by the great Brian Bolland. Like any anthology the stories are hit and miss but the ones featuring Elvira herself are entertaining.
Completely agree about Dave Stevens, his art is amazing and his early death robbed us of a marvellous comics creator.
I'm sure your mum would like Charlton's Partridge Family comics too Mike, all 21 issues of the run.
229 first gateway and readers. Underrated key
Glad you watched “Drawn to Perfection.” Great documentary. Nice Haul too!
A nice haul..Great to see you finished the Claremont run. Nice slab from Mon Comics...loved seeing the issue of IT...took me back to the 70s...
Dave Stevens rocks the doc was awesome till the end and then so dang sad. Love his artwork and the Rocketeer is always a book I send people to when they ask what they should start reading.
You are ABSOLUTELY killing it! Look at the number of views on this video but I understand why. Look at the number of subs!!! You always make entertaining and engaging videos. Although once you pulled out those Amazing Spider-Man issues with the Hobgoblin, Manny the Hobgoblin Collector may have watched this video a thousand times.
Thank you so much! I never know how these are going to do but people seem to love the flea market videos
@@lunchmoneycomics It's like a travel and comic video combined. If you can't go yourself then have someone who is going film it so you can live vicariously through them.
Hey Jeff make the trip across the border to Canada. The entire country is looking to pick through that comic truck of yours.
He was in Quebec not to long ago.
I live for comic book hunting vicariously through you so, no my attention span is for how ever long you want to record. Go for it.
WoW 👀👍🔥👍❤ Great finds brother and thanks for sharing 🤘🔥❤👍
Great picks! I don't know if you were aware, but the Micronauts were originally a science fiction toyline manufactured and marketed by Mego from 1976 to 1980. The comic is based on this toyline, and the first issue actually debuted in January, 1979.
Yup, I think I threw up a text graphic saying that in the video
I met Dave Stevens back in 1987 at a Florida show...have a Batman vs Joker print signed by him. His cover art was good.
That’s awesome, an experience and a print to be cherished!
I liked those comic books covers cards I never seen that before. That would be cool to have.
ASM 350 Has the last McFarlane Spidey art inside- It's a poster at the Centerfold
Good afternoon Michael
It is hard to believe you guys are heading into fall. Does that mean 6 months to the next Big yellow truck. you might have to get one of your own soon. Great haul of comics, I enjoyed the moment.
And yes I am one of those guys who would like to see the 60 minute version of the hunt!
Once more congratulations on the 10000k
Must be getting time for near time for Cliffcon once more.
Looking forward to the run up to 20000K
Cheers Al The Goldkeyfourcolorkidownunda
10k! Sooooo close. Pre-Congrats, man! All the best.
X-Men 251 is absolutely one of my favorite covers.
Amazing Deals. I got to come and visit New England plus go to this flea market. Super Jelly with some of the X-men issues that I'm looking for. I do have that Elvira House of Mystery. It was a spin off from House of Mystery during the 80s, It's Elvira's first comic book. It only lasted a year.
oh yeah Mike , I found a small antique store about an hour from my house here in Florida, and the owner just picked up 20 long boxes from 2 ladies that went into assisted living ( ladies collect too !!) He was NOT pricing books well and I offered to help for free .... just because it's like Christmas when you get to go thru someone else's collection. He declined unfortunately. He had some books priced WAY too high , Secret Wars 2 issue #1 for $200 ?? and I TRIED to show him where he could find value , but he was happy with his prices. I ended up getting a beautiful copy of New Mutants Annual #2 for $4.00 and an X-men #95 in mid grade+ for $20 . I am gonna go back in another week as he gets through more of the collection. He had only gone thru 4 boxes so far. I will keep you posted
I picked up that Elvira book earlier in the summer. Didn’t know it was her first appearance I just digged the cover. I also just recently picked of Batman #201 for Batman day which I just noticed on your back wall. 😊
For the algorithm…
Love the content. So jealous because there is nothing like this where I live (small rural town in Hawaii).
LOVE the Brimfield flea market, and it's one of the things I miss now that I live in Florida. Great pick-ups as always , it was nice to see so many X-men books !!!
Stevens also did cover Elvira's House of mystery #11
Those are some awsome books. Looked like a fun hunt!!
Absolutely jealous of the sources for books around you. Hope you know how lucky you are.
Believe me I do!
Xmen 268 rocks!!!!!! I gotta check out the new ongoing WW2 story
Wow, some great books there. I love seeing you on the hunt. Even saw a few books I'm looking for.
Mike, I forgot to mention that I went to Brimfield for the first time a few weeks ago and it was the most overwhelming experience!
I found some good books though the prices were jacked up.
I’ll have to make the trip to Brimfield at some point. The Stormville was a washout this week. Fortunately the Meadowlands is open year round in NJ.
Picked up a beater copy of that Elvira book there hard to find raw in high grade grew up watching her host horror shows in the early eighties.
To the Book Mobile!!
I seem to remember reading once about DC Comics going to neighbourhoods in NYC in the 1970s giving away free comics to kids, that was called the DC Bookmobile, but I seem to not be able to find the source...
that seller sure loves the 15 dollar price tag on those x-men. ff 55 looked to be in niiice shape.
Good pick ups. Yeah ASM 253 is a pretty good and Erik Larsen ASM. I think I have half or so of Larsen's run. Oh those uncanny X-Men books hell yes! Trying to put together a run of uncanny 200-300 or so myself I have some of those you found but I totally understand, I was digging and I said to myself yep more than naw. Either way it's good to find books in the range you're looking for. 💯😎 Good haul Mike. ⚡
Very nice huge haul! Love that Deadman & The Phantom Stranger. Phantom Stranger is one my favorites.
Nice stacks of comics.
Nice review.
Great hunting
Excellent video Brother. Thanks for sharing Your passion and adventures from Toronto Ontario Canada 😎👍♥️🇺🇸🇨🇦♥️📚📚📚📚💯💯💯💯💯
What were The Prices? 💵💵💵
Jeff Comic Truck! 🚛🚛🚛
Brimfield Flea Market!
I basically got them for less than half the sticker price.
Quite a haul ! thanks.
Man, I need a copy of the Superior Iron Man. Also not going to spend a lot on it. I started getting the run together right before the rumors of Tom Cruise popped up. Patience is key I guess. Great find!
Nice haul. Im not sure that is the largest flea market though it definitely seems large. I think like 5 flea markets claim to be the largest. Spectre is such a underrated character.
This was a pretty cool haul
Love that Elvira cover! Such a fun book. And hey, your copy of Dazzler 1 looks better than my copy.
I want to go to Brimfield next year, hopefully I can make it out there next September
Man I saw the first cover series and I was tearing down into my basement and i found my two sets Marvel first covers series I and Marvel first covers series II. Wow what a blast from the past. Found some other sets too. very cool, now im looking to go to the Londonderry NH flea market.
AWESOME VIDEO 👍👍👍
I wish I lived near your area..Our flea markets and antique stores sell comics, but at about the same as Ebay prices! Some nice finds there!
Great pickups
I’m surprised that you didn’t grab that Polaris cover. At $120 looked like a great deal but I guess there must’ve been damage that I couldn’t see.
Yeah it’s a book I want badly but that copy was covered in marker and in poor shape, I’d much rather have a clean copy
Good Afternoon Michael
I have yet to watch the video, I like to watch them when I have tine to concentrate. But a huge congratulations on the big 10000K. I have been on the great journey pre 100. A huge thumbs up . Long may the flea markets continue.
Cheers Al The Goldkeyfourcolorkidownunda
Awesome video! That looks like one heck of a flea market. I would love to go there one day. Looks like you got a Lotta great books and definitely at a great price. Can’t wait for the next exciting video. 😎
You can never go wrong with old school Charlton Comics, and Micronauts 1-10 covers were done by the one and only Michael Golden and the story is a page turner. Thanks for sharing your haul.
I'd been hoping for a Micronauts tie in with Ant man"3", and thought WTF when they didn't.
Eventually, the light went on "Aahhhhh.
HASBRO!"
there was probably to much licensing red tape.
Holy crap.. some of those prices were crazy! Comics priced like you were at a big convention.
Yes but as I said in the video he kind of ignores them and I got them at a good price
I love how every few books Mike just randomly grunts at a book
Hahaha so true
Congrats on making 10K, a significant milestone!!.
Kingsley first appearing as the Hobgoblin was in ASM 238 but he's identity was revealed in Hobgoblin lives. Awesome haul Mike I love love to send you some money to pick up some ASM comics for me you have the coolest places to go comic hunting
Nice 👍🏽
It good to find nice looking books without breaking the bank💯
NGL, I would watch an hour of you just digging through boxes of comics. It's pure unintentional ASMR of the finest kind!
I love what you do! I do the same thing when I get the chance! So exciting every time. I enjoy hunting for the comics I want!
It looks like you hot 10,000 subscribers. Congratulations 🎉🎉🎉!!!
You always pick up books that I remember from when I first started collecting
Those Newsstands from 2000 and up have the lowest print runs
Dang, my wife and I wimped out of this one. Too hot.
Groovy got some great books there. Loved the Micronauts beautiful art by Michael Golden. Loved the first 12 issues. As well as Michael Golden's The Nam comic it was very accurate. I was a Marine from spring of 82- spring of 88. I was in my late teens through mid 20's. When Shogun Warriors, Godzilla, Machine Man, Nova, ROM Spaceknight and the Nam were out. The end of the Marvel Age to me was like 1985/86. Most of the old creators either had sadly passed away. Retired or were getting ready too. The third wave of great artists/writers had left Marvel for DC. Or for Hollywood too from around 1980-82. Like George Perez, Michael Goiden, Marv Wolfman, Bill Mantlo, John Byrne. I thought for sure you'd jump on that Machine Man #1 too. Loved Machine Man and 2001 a Space Oddesey too. The first eight to nine issues of The Eternals were great too.
I was soooo close to getting that Machine Man, not sure exactly why I put it back!
Great X-Men books. Im lucky to have a few of those myself.
Awesome Haul Man!!! Love that Spectre and Madame Xanadu are my favorites
I gasped when you passed on the Predator: Cold War from Jeff's collection LOL and then spat out my tea when you casually stumbled on the first Taskmaster. Love watching these flea market hunting adventures 🤠
Great pickups, I love that Elvira cover! I went to the Brimfield Flea Market as well I wish I could have found Mike's Truck but I was not prepared for how large the Flea market was 😂 There was stuff all over the place lol I'm definitely gonna try to make it back up there next year though
I really miss my dazzler #1 i found it but my mum told me to 3ut it back but it was my birthday last week lol but I do want the dazzler back in my collection I did count my books 496 comics but need to document the ones I got. Love the finds Mike really do enjoy these videos I did receive on batman day batman no 1 first appearance of the joker and Catwoman and Mike it's a must have facsimile they are going up in price
Amazing haul Mike!!
Nice books. I think $200 was about right. I wouldn’t have paid much more given the condition and that a lot of the books had large print runs
Love the Elvira book. I have 2 copies 1 being a Canadian price variant. I think that series ran 11 issues. Issue # 11 is the only 1 I'm missing. Sorry yours has water damage but that probably explains why you got it so cheap. Great haul.
Great finds mike I'm hoping to go to brimfield next year this year wasnt able to due to work. Love that spectre cover and an early congrats on 10k subscribers
Great haul mike 👍
I think the books you get are awesome! Even if they aren’t in the best condition they are still great to have and even more awesome where you get them from! Keep it goin Mike!
That's a great haul for 200$ Mike, lots of cool stuff there,I'm so jealous of that humongous flea market,we used to have many here in central Scotland but unfortunately they seem to be dying out,few car boot sales left but most of the weekend markets have followed the dodo and the thylacine into extinction, lol, love getting to rummage through boxes even second hand, thank you again Mike 🏴
Outstanding finds once again. Happy for you. Wow just noticed you’re a breath away from 10k subs.
That’s the big one! Great deals and fun to be had there!
Great haul! Love the Comic Book Truck, always has the best stuff!
It’s so thoughtful of you to include the temperature in Celsius for us Canadians! 😂
Awesome Xmen books, and the other books were great finds too! I wish I could go to Brimfield 😂
Nice haul man!
I could spend all day at a place like that. Nice haul
Got to go to my first brimfield this year got a whole bunch of books for a steal mostly from jeff! I cant wait to go to more in the future and more of the other flea markets and shows youve shown!
Another awesome show. Never miss one.
Nice haul, Mike!! Im glad you picked up that Dazzler #1. That cover is one of my favorites!!
I really need to fly over & pick that comic truck!
Hi Mike, Silver age is my thing but in your usual entertaining way you educate & enlighten so much else. ‘Spectre’ #3 What a reward!
Just started watching your channel. The hunt for comics is fun for me also and it’s not about making money, it the fun of the search. Your knowledge and most of all your philosophy on honesty and the fun you have is a testament.
How many more X-Men titles do you need now to complete your Claremont run? I still need 94, 101, and 111. Nice pickups today. Keep the great content coming. 🎉
Spectre 3 is amazing; love the Wildcat crossover. This story has been reprinted in Adventure Comics 496 (a digest) where I became very familiar with it.
Man I wish I had a Jeff from Michigan and his truck full of comic books near me
