A Comic HAUL from a Comic CRAWL! Hunting for Comics at an Amazing Community Event!

- Hey comic lovers! I was very fortunate to be invited to an AMAZING comic book community event, the 3-Men-in-a-Basement Fall Crawl! A group of comic collectors, dealers (and yes, TH-camrs) jumped from comic venue to comic venue hunting for awesome comics and incredible deals! Not only did I spend some serious lunch money on some big books for the collection, I made an epic trade that pushed me closer to one of my biggest comic collecting goals!
In order to capture this amazing event for all of you I decided to edit together a slightly longer video… let me know in the comments if you like the longer format and I hope you enjoy the video!

Just want to add some history to the 3mib comic crawls
👉it started during the pandemic when comic shops and small businesses were hurting.
👉Otto had an idea to reach out to a couple comic shop owners and reached out to about 15 to 20 local comic book collectors and said hey
This certain date, I want to bring X amount of people to your store to hunt comics.
👉 it really helped the stores out. It helped the other collectors out and it was just a great time during such a bad time.
✨ obviously times are better now, but we still host these events every six months, everybody enjoys them.
🤟 Otto
Thanks so much, I wish I had included this in the video! As is I ended up cutting about 20 minutes of footage but this was an event certainly deserving of more time!
That was an amazing haul! You dont have to apologize for spending your money. Anyone hating on you is just jealous.
Love that Neil Adam superman
It's great to see that run of X-Men books, it really drives home how much solid story-telling and beautiful art are in the series at that point in its history.
Mike Ploog's art sets just the right tone for Marvel's Frankenstein title, and his work is even more powerful when he did stories for the b/w magazines such as Tales Of The Zombie and Dracula Lives.
The slabbed Guardians Of The Galaxy definitely has an attractive cover, a rare example where 90s excesses worked to enhance the cover rather than detract from it.
Great video Brother. Happy You acquired some awesome for Your Personal Collection. Thanks for sharing Your passion and adventures from Toronto Ontario Canada 😎👍❤️📚📚📚📚📚💯💯💯💯💯
Thanks for joing us this was a great time…
This was a awsome vid!
Thank you for having me, it was an awesome event!
My favorite from what you acquired is the Superman book, one of the best Superman covers ever.
Agreed!
Let's just say you had Lunch at the Plaza Hotel. Lunch is lunch, right. Nice books. I'm a big fan of 70's horror so I'm collecting them all. Got 5 long boxes so far. May not get them all, but it sure is fun trying!
That Uncanny run was amazing... Love the hunt for Uncanny X-Men! Great finds sir.
So glad you were able to go you got new M16 I am so happy you can finish your collection reading is sometimes more important, then money. Love your video.!
Great channel. I find myself watching it more and more.
Wow 9.6 first gambit!!! Congratulations mike
Great show I like looking at comic book shops and when you fish through the long boxes. I particularly like your first appearance of Jim Rhodes the helicopter pilot and the foil cover with Galactus so you're stocking up for shiny covers number one from him lunch money comics.
Really enjoyed the video and comicbook nostalgia, thank you sir! Always enjoy your stops everywhere comic book related.
Love the pick ups! So absolutely jealous! And, I grew up in North Branford!!
Wow! Incredible haul! You finally found a Nightcrawler figure and on card in great condition!
Comic book Crawl =Goals. Great stuff!!
Crazy not only how many shops you have access to, but how deep their back issue selection is. Jealous as hell lol!
I don't know how many times I have said that exact same thing!
Agree 100%
Gambit is my favorite Marvel character & Nightcrawler right behind him so take a guess what I'm jealous of u picking-up at those prices 😉 😊
First off, congrats on those X-Men books. I bought/read/owned them back in the day. Yes I'm that old 😂
23:57 LOL I have that book. Not slabbed but bagged and boarded since I purchased it when it came out. Not worth slabbing at all but it looks cool nice display piece graded.
Comics give me a warm feeling all over.
Did they change their name? I search “Brick house comics” and I get “boom Tube Comics” no Brick HOuse
Yeah I’ve noticed that, it’s two different places. You’ll find them on Facebook.
Did I really spot a cgc copy of Wizard magazine? Is that really a thing? Lol.
Very cool video. Some really cool looking stores.
Congrats on X-men 266 at a 9.6! Funny, I have a 9.2 and submitted two copies hoping for a higher grade as well!!
Aaagh! I want that Guardians 25 so bad. I can’t believe you got it for $40! All-time favorite team. And yes, I know they’re kinda cheesy, but it’s also so good at the same time.
Good afternoon Michael
I was awaiting the video to drop, it didn't disappoint, Jack has the fixings of a mighty fine collection, I wonder what direction he will take it as he gets older.
Every Australian collector would sell the farm to go on one of these crawls, so it is great fun to look over your shoulder. Is it your intention to buy every comic written by Chris Claremont?
Cheers Al The Goldkeyfourcolorkidownunda
Haha probably not EVERY comic he wrote, just the X-men related ones
I am not much of an Neal Adams fan (not owning a single cover he made, I like Kirby, Romita sr, Colan, Mack, Mignola, J Scott Campbell, Jim Lee, Jae Lee much better) nor an X Men fan ;) but I love your vids anyway. And I also spend a lot more money on lunch than I did 30 years ago, so keep on buying ...
Nintendo was after my time but I remember the Spider-Man Atari game. Classic! Congrats on shrinking the X list!
I don't even know where to start, this was so huge and great pick-up that I am just out of words.. Basically I need everyone of those 🤣😅 And what an awesome gathering! Just a cool vid like always!
Wow, nice acquisitions! I especially like the old Cockrum X-Men books
Jim from Bronzeville reminds me of Multiple Man, he's everywhere.
Man who cares what people think LMC is a moniker not the source of your channel people are stupid keep doing you love the channel!
I was at a show this weekend and almost bought a 266 for 180 slabbed at 8.5. Knew it was too much
All of the U tubers setting up comic book shop stops and helping the brick and mortar is fantastic idea.
Looks like a great day to me.
Nice haul. That Fantastic Four #211 I remember buying as a kid. Enjoy the passion displayed for the hobby. Thanks for sharing.
Great haul
Jealous of that X-Men 109, and actually all the other ones too.
Love it!
Wow that looks like so much fun 😊- Great Video!
Thanks it was a blast!
Now I want to organize a comic crawl. Lord knows I’ve done enough pub crawls, this should be easier to coordinate and remember.
You should do!!!
We’ll come along
Guardians is one of my favorites
Congrats on all of your new books. That Brick House store looks great. All your videos are Awesome Mike! Thank you, 😅
Happy you enjoyed and thank you for watching!
I had that game for sega. Loved it.
Wow, epic comic hunting video for sure! I too just recently got my own copy of THE MONSTER OF FRANKENSTEIN #1 from a late night WhatNot stream. I have been wanting it for a long time now, as I specifically collect any and all Frankenstein comics. That whole Marvel Frankenstein series is a great read. I am especially found of Issue #4, where the story becomes all-new original material and picks up right from the end of Mary Shelley's novel. I have always thought that Issue would make a great starting point for a Frankenstein sequel. I have my own idea of where it could go mapped out in my head. Issue #4 though is really where the Frankenstein Monster enters the Marvel Universe for the first time as it's own particular version of the character. Keep up the good work and thank you as always for the cheap entertainment. (P.S. You are also the only You Tuber that I can count on to not just skip right over my boy, The Phantom Stranger. Give me that sweet pause of appreciation before moving on.)
Haha I do like me some Phantom Stranger, glad someone else does too!
Awesome video wish I was there too. I live in a section of Florida that has no shops for miles, so love watching the finds. Also, the first two appearances of Marvel's version of Frankenstein's Monster are in X-Men #40 (Jan. 1968) and Silver Surfer #7 (Aug. 1969).
True but the Frankenstein in X-men is a robot and the one in SS is only an image.
Great idea for a crawl
How does a "local" like myself get in on this? I'm up here on the North shore I'd love to do this............
Believe it or not, the next crawl they do might be on North Shore and southern NH! Follow 3 Men in a Basement on IG for possible info
Great footage and pickups. Super Jealous of what you got access to. Beats digging online 😢. Keep it up. ✌️
Become a online personality n even if these people hate u they’ll invite u because they want your audience
I actually prefer the original GOTG roster. Great pickup.
I have a video coming out next week featuring the originals, stayed tuned for that one!
great pickups mike. Always a fun hunt with the 3mib crew
Yeah, they are all just great people to be around
awesome start !!!
Call your channel whatever you want. Tell people to relax and worry about how much they pay for books 😶
If i had a rock band i would name it White Galactus.
Hahaha amazing!
great hauls, mike. nice of you to get that slabbed one for your son. i am sure he will love it. #OnlySlabs #SLABFEVER
Nice comics
A $1000 book just sitting in a box. Damn! Great buys and good finds on getting stuff for your
Chris Claremont run! I own issue 25 of GoftG, that cover is so awesome. Bought it for a dollar back in 2012.
hey Mike Awesome haul 👍 hey I Will have the chance to meet Chris Clermont in my backyard in Huntsville AL next year at the Huntsville comic expo
Awesome, he is super nice
Do you mind if I ask when the comic expo be in Huntsville? I just might be able to make that one.
@@TJ-pk3wl sure it's the Huntsville comic &pop culture expo in April 12-14 Huntsville AL at the von Braun center that would be awesome if you do so I can meet you my friend
Thanks for the info. I appreciate it...really want to try and go as I live so close and don't have any shops local. If I go to a shop it would be in Chattanooga or Huntsville. Looking forward to April. I hope to see you there and talk comics!
@@rohn-zc5sx
@@TJ-pk3wl that would be great let me know as time gets closer take care Mike
Congratulations on the books! Yes, I played that game. I got through the Cyclops levels. That game was really something. I don’t think many people actually got through that game.
Excellent finds and great deals!! You looked like a kid in a candy store. I wouldn't know where to start.
I do have to argue that X-Men Annual 14 is Gambit's first full appearance...it is definitely more than a cameo and came out a month earlier than X-Men 266.
Keep up the good work.
Love your vids... but the motion blur hurts our eyes.. HAAALP! .. LOL.
I was so excited to play that Spider-Man and the X-Men…. Until I played it. Never got past the first few levels. Awesome pickups though!
When you entered inside the first person i saw was Jim from Bronzeville Comics....
Freaking awesome pick ups! Love that Superman #233 (got it in a trade paperback) Congrats on making a dent in your Claremont X-Men collection. I never knew that Marvel Frankenstein comic even existed & now I wanna try to find one for myself. Keep up the great work Mike.
We often talk about fomo for books or figures. But the real fomo here is that awesome community you guys have over there, I see so many familiar faces, 360 Joe, Pope, BrixCo, Will, Jim. Why do I have to be stuck on the other side of the country 😭 If ever I move I’m heading straight to your guys neck of the woods.
I had that game on super Nintendo and that first flooded maze took me ages, lol, and no I never completed the game ?hahaha, ps.and I was 29 at the timelol,my wife got me the snes for my birthday 🏴😂🤣
Arcade's Revenge!! I owned it on Game Gear and finished that version which was much more simplified compared to the Genesis/SNES version. I rented the Genesis version a couple times in the 90s and absolutely could not beat it. Like you said, I too have never met someone who beat that game in the 90s.
Great gets! 😊
It amazes me ,no matter how much money I have for comics, it's NEVER enough. 🤣🤡
If you did not buy that nightcrawler figure I was going to unsubscribe. Good haul mate. Very jealous 😝
I love that Nightcrawler figure. Of course, I was drooling over those Wolverine figures. How could I pick just one comic book as a favorite? The Monster of Frankenstein book is amazing, and a Tomb of Dracula book too. I've always loved that Neal Adams cover for Superman. Awesome grade and price for the first appearance of Gambit, and that 9.8 Guardians of the Galaxy is so cool. All around, I'd say you had an amazing haul, Mike. Cheers!
Seeing such good prices on books I want in my PC has kept me patient on picking up certain books and it's greatly appreciated. Love the content as always!!
*I think the nightcrawler figure and Frankenstein book might have been the best pick-up*
Awesome books. I just got Ghost in the shell#1 and Akria#1 and #38.
The "minor character" in Tomb of Dracula 52 is Janus Dracula's son with what-her-face. Thanks for letting in on you fun day out!
Unless you had a game Genie , that Spiderman/ X-men collab game was an uphill battle....
Trading really paid off. I learned that early on with my Avengers when I wanted to get higher graded books. Vendors could move my lower graded books quicker which made them want to do the trade. I paid a little more but with the trading value of the books I had it wasn’t so bad. The fact that your books came from picking at lower prices was enjoyable to hear. Congrats
Dude good score on the X-Men books! Now I'm curious what you have left to complete the run? Lol. I'm about 50 short of my run. Would have had it all by now if I didn't have to sell a good chunk of them years ago during a tough time in my life. Always great content bro! Thank you!
I have about 7 left plus an annual
@@lunchmoneycomicsare your 7 spread out or are they pre issue 20? Which annual?
@@toxicrealitymedia 103, 105, 107, 112, 114, 115, 125 and Annual 7
I am having trouble with this video you just made. Mike I like you and how you find comics no doubt. People on the other hand can be preceded as good/bad or indifferent. I had trouble with one person you showed in the past. It’s you channel and you can have anyone you want on it. If I see this guest again I will cancel my subscription to your channel. Sincerely a fan but maybe a very distant fan.
You are dead right about kids being lucky with being able to save their games. I remember those days as well. Actually kind of miss those challenges.
Great gets. Awesome you were able to get that close to finishing the Claremont uncanny run.
That's crazy you picked up that issue of New mutants this month I picked up that same issue of New mutants at the beginning of the month at an antique store paid 5 bucks for my copy lol
Welcome to the Xmen 266 in 9.6 club Mike! Huge congrats on all those beautiful X-Men books especially X-Men #109! 🔥🇨🇦🙌
Always love your videos !! Hi Will the Comic Beast !!! Love that young man too and I hope people go sub to him. He is up-and-coming in the comic world.
That was a killer haul everything looked cool especially that nightcrawler fig
Your experience reminded me of my days working at a local shop and getting invited to a yearlyish BBQ and hangout hosted by a cool dude and local collector that had owners and workers from our shop and other shops in town invited and also local artists ( Mike Allred was a great guy to hang with and talk to ) and museum curators who lived in the area. It's awesome you had the chance to hang with other like minded people at the crawl, love those moments in collecting.
Well that’s it. I wish I lived in the New England area. Haha. I don’t have any shops around me like these.
What a great video. Thanks for sharing your experience! I also love the X-Men, and have the full run from #94 on.......just LOVED the new team! Personally, I think John Byrne was the best (Cockrum was great, too!), and my favorite storyline was the Proteus saga - I hope you enjoy reading it! Are you missing 7 of the "new" team, or the older run?
All 7 I’m missing are new team from issues 103-125
@@lunchmoneycomics Mike, I want to send you a HUGE "thank you"!! You want to know why? Because I was so excited watching your video, getting all those X-Men books into your collection, I started digging through my collection to see if I still had all those books. Then, by chance, I decided to pull my Hulk #180, just to look at Wolverine in his old, original costume. And lo and behold, sitting there right with #180, WAS #181, which I didnt remember having acquired - I must have got it when I was just a kid! It was perfectly bagged and boarded, and is damn near perfect! My heart skipped a beat when I saw it. So thanks again for giving me my childhood comic thrills back as an "older" guy! I'd be happy to send you one of the books you need if you wish! Pay it forward, as it were!
@@barrysergent5905 NO WAY!!! Congratulations! No need to send me anything, your viewership and this amazing story is all I need! WOW!
Good stuff = how did MA become the comic book capital for TH-cam, Lunch box comics coronated the title, that's how! Shadows and dust, no foil and chrome!
Awesome pickups, love that Gambit comic, I only have Two of the X-men annual #14 that is technically the first appearance of Gambit but of course that is debatable, thanks for sharing that great haul.
You made it… these aren’t people who enjoy the community together … it’s people with followings . Heck most don’t even like comics they just playing entrepreneurs with daddy’s old collection with the mcu boom . Ur in the cool kids club tho congrats . I remember a member of that team low balling me for a collection so I know they take advantage of community members for personal gain
I freaked when I heard Sarges in New London, that’s my closest LCS! I would love to see you shop around in there to see what you pick up. Also awesome comic haul too👍
What is that X-men picture on your wall behind you… looks like Art Adams?
Amazing haul. I think you did a fantastic job wheeling and dealing. 👍🏿👍🏿
Congrats man! Get what you want/ spend what you want, it’s your money man! That Superman looks waaaaay better than a 4.0 on camera!
Cool video. Your always so informative about the books, and why you grab certain ones. I appreciate the education.
Great pick-ups. No need to explain about spending more than "Lunch Money" on that great haul. Those trades for comics that you got for cheap makes the deal a great bargain.
I definitely played that game. It was awesome and I never completed it lol
I want a comic crawl in Texas such good deals! I say change it to TH-cam money comics. lol Love your energy wish i could match it
Really great days from the 3mib crawl, those books and discounts were awesome. Congrats on getting some PC books and getting that 9.8 for your son is awesome.
That looks like so much fun. I’m so glad that you were able to attend only what you got to the other two shops as well.
Great haul. Love my X-men 266. My wife got me a 8.0.
