The word woke was used by black Americans during Jim Crow as a way of telling them to be awake on how systemic racism worked and how to navigate around it for survival. I think some white evangelicals for the most part, because racism didn't affect them directly, had looked at the issue of race exclusively as a sin problem which cannot be changed by man. During the Civil Rights moment it was mostly mainly churches which some may describe as liberal got involved. In fact to demonstrate that they didn't want their children to go to school with white children, individuals like Jerry Falwell started a segregated Christian school in Virginia. Most changes in desegregation and how minorities are treated has not been done by the Gospel but by government. These are facts. Now, fast forward to the George Floyd incident and the eruption in the use of 'woke' by the gay right movement and others. Evangelicals who happen also be mostly Republican, for a matter of culture war convenience, use the word woke as a catch all term for any and everything conservatives don't stand for. The question is why is the word being used like this without distinction? From the Fall in the garden of Eden, the distortion of the Word of God has been defined as heresy. It doesn't matter what nation or ethnicity you come from, one who distorts the gospel and teaches others to do so is a false teacher and a heretic. Sin is not a political or cultural issue, but it is a spiritual one. When Christians and pastors take to using current socio/political terms to describe sin, it raises alarm bells. Are there actually conservative sins and liberal sins, really? If you refer to a church that it is going woke because it's leaning towards social justice, what would you call a church that is promoting Qanon conspiracies and believes membership is open only to white people? Why is that their teachings are not both described, for instance, as going woke? We need to be careful as Christians that we don't let the world that we're called to be a witness to influence how we see sin as followers of Christ. All we need is to be found in the Bible and that's why we need to escape the attempts by the enemy to add to the word of God.
It is so good to hear Dr. Lutz speaking about the history (incl. Saul Alinski's part), I think many people don't realize what is really going on until they know the history behind it. It happens slowly and then very quickly.
The church is largely asleep and caving in to the culture and that's why a lot of this is happening. They're not going to be many true Christians left after this sifting that going on.
I appreciate DR. Lutzer, and did my undergrad where he taught prior to his move to Moody memorial church ( Moody Bible institute), Howver, he slightly overlooks here that one reason this happens is that diverse people groups within the church can only be "pulled apart if they do not truly share close friendships outside of where they gather for worship. i also planted and pastored a church which became incredibly diverse/multicultural in Europe. "CRT" could not pull that church apart because the people within it loved one another truly, and that consistently outside of Sunday gatherings. too many white people do feel guilty over this precisely because they've NOT cultivated very close relationships with others whether they are black brown or "yellow." Just saying- if the "diversity exists in the church AND DOES exist beyond the gathering place it cannot be "destroyed" by those outside of it only that unity which is superficial can be destroyed. So aim at Rev. 7:9-12 and rejoice that Jesus is Lord of His church. put differently if the church goes "woke" it's because of overall weak leadership and a superficial unity that people are aiming for under their own power instead of deep Biblical unity produced by the power of the Spirit. So, I disagree with Dr. Lutzer- CRT is NOT destroying what Jesus died to create,( it only appears that way from the "outside."
Jesus said the gates of hell shall not prevail; however, He did not say they wouldn’t try. The groups that call themselves a church, are broken and woke and seduced by demonic forces because they removed the Bible and no longer preach Jesus crucified and resurrected for the remission of sin unto salvation.
In my mind, Woke is one of Satan's greatest lies. Remember what Jesus said of Satan. John 8:44 "He [Satan] was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it."
Quick answer, faith requires courage, indeed God gives courage to speak against sin! The church is asleep. Bonhoeffer tried to warn the German churches to speak out against Hitlers fascism, but they remained silent. Re-reading this amazing book.
@@D-Bunker-zv1bjtrue acceptance is accepting the truth and not letting the body of Christ remain in sin. To remain in sin is hurtful to the person and the whole body. We don’t want to be apart from God
@@D-Bunker-zv1bjfirst, your way off on your percentage. The homosexual population is only just over 1%. Second, it is a behavior; and behavior is a choice. You can argue all you want about why people have certain tendencies but giving in to those tendencies is a choice. When someone chooses rebellious behavior against Gods obvious design and his clear instruction it is always destructive to the person involved and society as a whole. To try and normalize such behavior in society at large has huge ramifications; history teaches this. Moral decay and perversion always makes a society fall from within. People have a right to bring their kids up in a healthy society, so if people want to indulge in such behavior then keep it private and don't try to force everyone else to support such activity.
I see the Churches downfall starting in 1968 when Prayer and Bible were taken out of Public schools. The Church instead of standing up to this and fighting it said we'll build our own schools and teach how we want to, but that left 90% of Christian kids (like my two) still in Public school to receive ungodly teachings that us poorer Christian parents couldn't do anything about! Now we have lost the USA and there will be no turn around to this, Sin will abound more and more as the Public schools come after our children
The seeds of apostasy has been germinating and even sprouting in a lot of denominations for a long time. Problem is sometimes Christians have blinders on because certain sins have never been considered sin. Often it's because everyone that we know does it. It was all good to have prayers and the Bible in school but were we modeling what's in the Bible at home and more importantly, in the public square? For instance some are pleading that we put the Ten Commandments back in the classroom. But how are we living up to those commandments currently in our interactions with the highly polarized society around us today?
The death of George Floyd also affected me in a way that my compassion was manipulated and I started to embrace social Justice to the point I voted for B. @noelhausler2911 no, it does not. They may have been the original intent but with the clear desire to change definitions, woke is no different. What a great show with Dr. Lutzer! i listen to him almost every day and he is as sound as they come. It is so mind boggling to see how things went downhill so fast during covid and according to scripture it won't get better until the Lord says ENOUGH! It hurts my heart and I am sure many others feel the same hurt when members of your own family began to embrace the wokeness with crt, etc. But I am still believing that they will wake up before it is too late.
Agreed. It is sad. Much heresy and blasphemy in the church. From an incorrect explanation of scripture, to progressive Christianity, to social justice gospel, to another Jesus. Enough is enough! 😢
This is the best time ever in the 53 years since my coming of Christ to be a follower of the Lord. What we do, who we are, and what we believe are all (and more) being challenged. The process will and filter and strengthen us beyond what we ever could hope for. Shields will be shattered, swords will plunge, and the believers will ultimately triumph. To the leftist I say, "Bring it!".
I’m conservative. I worship and fellowship with people from all ethnic backgrounds and I am Christian before I am black. But I’m still black. Something about most evangelical Christians make the hairs on my neck stand up. It seems to me that most believe that Jesus can only be worshipped properly in a white American conservative context. If 100 black and brown people joined your local assembly with no agenda, I guarantee most congregants would fear that the “culture” of the church was changing. So the only way this works is if we assimilate in terms of worship style, dress, and speech. And ask yourself, do you feel like this is synonymous to being transformed to the image of Christ? I think radical leftism destroys everything. But I also think that if a multicultural church has an all white staff for years and no one thinks that’s a not result of leadership being “asleep”, then that church has been equally deceived.
In fairness, would a believing black dominated church make sure to elevate whites into leadership positions? I agree with your point, but if you think that only white people have ingrained racial distrust, you are mistaken. All of which is tragic, as Christ should transcend such things.
When youse ( English of y'all ) brown people going to deal with lies of Ethiopia. Why should anyone trust you when you are so unwilling to deal with a 2 millennium old corruption. Start talking about that first. Bless you Nene♥
@NenaNaturally then you don’t understand the basic tenets of Christianity. Why does it matter what race the staff is- so long as there is love in their heart and biblical teachings. I’m black too and I’m so tired of race obsessed people like you. Maybe the staff was predominantly white because they started the church, but over time it would become more diverse- did that ever occur to you? Im 50 years old, born and raised in the southern US and this obsession with race blaming and victim narrative(to the degree it is now)is a new thing- on steroids the past 10 years, accelerated by Obama in my opinion. I never grew up thinking all white people were one way and all black people were one way. A true biblical teaching doesn’t teach such nonsense. And yes, I grew up in a black church- when they were teaching the word of God- not this social justice crap. I call it crap because man is imperfect and there will never be utopia on earth, which is what social justice wants us to strive to. Something a true Christian knows is not possible. Why people embrace false doctrine is beyond me.
A church goes WOKE when it loses sight of its mission. And that mission does not include in it the notion that we must have the approval of the world; rather the opposite, Romans 12:1-2.

50 years I have observed Priests, Pastors, Ministers who would say one message to the congregations while privately embracing liberation theology, CRT or whatever leftist ideologies they picked up in Seminary. At times the mask would slip off. They seem to have a gift for not quite crossing the theological line but leaning over it while keeping one foot on the other side. Robert Barron and Rick Warren are masters at this. Sooner or later, they do publicly go woke and then claim wokeness was always their position. I have watched this happen in the Episcopal Church (where I started out), the Methodist, Presbyterian and Lutheran Churches. I am now a Roman Catholic and we are in the same life and death struggle. We are at the precipice and the next Pope will determine whether we step back or jump. May God have mercy on us.
I agree with this minister's premise concerning the importance of racial reconciliation, but I disagree with him concerning CRT. CRT is not being taught in churches with any regularity to my knowledge, therefore it seems disingenuous for him to cite CRT as a barrier to racial reconciliation in the church. Furthermore, this so-called "wokeness" is no more of a problem in the church than some of this right-wing ideology that permeates the church today, such as pastors' exaltation of Donald Trump. My prayer is that the church doesn't go too far to the left, nor too far to the right. Excessive right-wing conservatism does not equal Christianity. I don't believe God is as partial to these conservative evangelicals as they think.
This is exactly what has happened. I left my church due to these ideas creeping in - jumping on the GF bandwagon from Covid days. Tbh, it is almost impossible to find a decent non-Woke influenced church now, and I am resigned to going back to my old church - not becuase it is so wonderful - but simply becuase it is the nearest and I know people there and I will only find the same problems elsewhere - only I won't know anyone at all. I also feel that I am doing more good there to bring food for thought than I am remaining outside a congregation where I have no say. I have tried other churches and don't feel at home. The only problem is that I left under a cloud when I left a couple of years ago, and when I had lunch with the pastor and his wife a few weeks ago, they told me whem we discussed theology and beliefs (most of it was in alignment with theirs) my return to the congregation still depended on the opinion of another church member 'who I had hurt' whilst there before. They said it was confidential who it was and what they had told them (which is unbiblical becuase anyone who has issue with another congregant should confess with each other and forgive). So it was their call as to whether I was allowed to return. Not only is t his completely unbiblical it has made me quite angry ever since - especially as I have heard nothing since that lunch. The only reason I fell out with this congregant - as I think I know who they mean - (a former good friend - a black lady from Guyana) in the first place is becuase she was such a moaner and gossiper and, dare I say it, her daughter is heavily into CRT activism too and I would feel hypocritical visiting her house knowing secretly that I despise everything she stands for. This former friend is an entrenched self-imposed victim - always moaning, complainging and gossiping. I suspect that she has been true to form since I distanced myself from her with a letter explaining that I don't want to be that close to her anymore (which she didn't take well at all, at the time).. Now she can't gossip about others to me, she has gossiped about me to my Pastor and their wife - so she has smeared me behind my back and claimed I was racist and in the process of doing so - after realising that she can't control me directly - is trying to control how others perceive me. It seems that it is working. Meanwhile I am without fellowship and a lot of people I want to see and be friends with I can't access through joint worship. It seems that I have actually been 'cancelled' only they don't use that term openly.
Donald L. Faris published in 1989 the book "Trojan Horse: The Homosexual Ideology and the Christian Church". He was addressing homosexuality's intrusion in the United Church.
According to the Oxford Dictionary, “woke” is an adjective that means “alert to and concerned about social injustice and discrimination” 1. The term is often used in the context of social issues such as racial and social justice 1. The term originated from African-American Vernacular English (AAVE) meaning “alert to racial prejudice and discrimination” 2. It later came to encompass a broader awareness of social inequalities such as racial justice, sexism, and LGBT rights 2. The term is often used in contexts that suggest someone’s expressed beliefs about such matters are not backed with genuine concern or action. Before we became very elderly and disabled we lived near Shepherds the largest homeless shelter in Ottawa, On. We spent considerable time and effort helping street people. This started in 1997 and so our activity precedes the popularity of the term woke. Our activity meets the formal definition of woke and one could say that we have been woke for a long long time. What I have trouble with is the woke world view and patterns of behavior of many woke individuals and their tendency to want government to help those like the homeless and for individuals not to get involved in the lest or very minimally.
I also think feminism started everything, because of all the women empowerment-people saw what could be done and it was easy for all the racial division and LGBT+ stuff to become widespread. It's just really sad, people need to truly know Jesus to be content.

This happened at our former church. The pastors brought in a group of speakers to host a conference where many of the speakers talked just like what Dr. Lutz describes here. The result was incredibly divisive and many left the church.
Woke was made by God h@ters who seethe church as their enemy. They created Woke for the purpose of creating as must division in the ranks of their enemy which will destroy their enemy. Once that is done, they can more easily go about wreaking havoc on humanity with no push back. The chaos and hostility created by Woke is NOT an accident, it's an intentional design feature.
Cultural Marxism as it is referred to predates Alinsky. By the early 20th Century people trying to bring about world-wide revolution along traditional Marxists lines began realizing it was was a nonstarter because the proletariat did not have a natural antagonism toward the bourgeoisie. They wanted to to join the middle class. This also explains why revolutions generally begin within the middle and upper classes. While it's true people in the lower socio-economic class lack the resources to start a revolution, most of them also want to work within the existing system to raise themselves up. Even the Barbarians didn't want to conquer Rome at first, they wanted to become Romans. Today's race hustlers and woke prophets are in it for the acquisition of wealth and power. They encourage the class struggle because they see it as the best way for them to achieve their ends. I'm not saying there aren't true believers in the ranks. Many of the foot soldiers are young people who were weaned on this stuff and wokeism has become their religion. But the people at the top of the pyramid, the moneyed interests and the elites within academia are playing the long game. Their goal is to assume what they see as their rightful place at the head of the one-world new order. They give it fancy names like social justice and the great reset but what it really is is an attempt to build a better world based on their image. Read Rosseau, Voltaire, and Hagel (if you can make it through his ramblings) if you want to get a better understanding of where this particular brand of dystopian teaching shrouding itself in utopian idealism comes from. It will put you miles ahead of the people shouting at the barricades who really aren't sure what they are angry at until someone tells them. Evangelical churches aren't the only ones that have failed to oppose the demonic lies with the truth of Christ. Most churches, regardless of domination, have been too compliant with the powers that be and have kept silent on issues that threaten the eternal souls of those they are called to shepherd. And as Jeremiah said: "Woe to the shepherds who destroy and scatter the flock (23: 1). And shame on all of us for not demanding better and for not being better disciples. Our problems can be solved but not by us. With God everything is possible, without him, nothing is. Stay strong and thanks Alisa. We don't share the same faith but I admire your never ending search or the truth and your commitment to sharing what you find with the rest of us. Trojan Horse is a good word for something that brought (unbiblical) division to churches. I am reminded of Paul's words in Acts 20:29-30 ... For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. 30 Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them.....
The spirit of Sodom did not die with God's judgment. We see that in Judges 19, where God's people had to rise against a similar homosexual town called Gibeah of Benjamin. And so, it has been for a few millennia homosexuality was repressed, until 5 minutes ago when we adopted their moto "live and let live". That became our moto, now theirs has evolve to "love is love" and that is in itself their impudent cry for our children, for pedophiles to have complete liberty with our child.
So Mr Lutz says, in ref. to Rev. 5 and it’s depiction on racial unity around the throne of God, that in his church “…we were working toward racial reconciliation…” And THAT is the answer to the question of how Evangelical churches go woke. Religious arrogance, as well intentioned as it may be, has churches doing things it’ shouldn’t be doing. Racial reconciliation is not the commission of the church- it is the manifestation of the greatness and glory of God the church fulfills its limited mission. Therefore wokeness in the church is the result of religious presumption and pride. May it humble us.
Ezekiel 33:29 Then shall they know that I am the LORD, when I have laid the land most desolate because of all their abominations which they have committed. Jude 1:15 To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.
Racial reconciliation absolutely destroyed the church I grew up in. A new pastor claimed our church was racist, and it never was..been in that church all my life, but he was placing his sin on the congregation. I am so sick of hearing about racial reconciliation. If you pastors would just preach the perfect and pure Gospel…guess what, all these issues would heal themselves. Does that mean it would be perfect…absolutely not because we are humans…but, the Truth would be the reigning doctrine. Sick of rr. EVERYBODY IS PREJUDICE IN SOME WAY.

And that largely w/o cause, I was in point of fact warning the elders of this very thing - sadly they embraced the strife over unity, & welcomed their own Trojan; and I was kicked to the curb as early as the mid-90s, this' not such a new thing, or of the Holy Spirit.
What is Critical Race Theory? What does woke mean? I’m really confused by these terms that I’ve been hearing so much about lately, somebody please help me!
Look up Critical Theory to get a background then apply race to it to get "CRT". "Woke" is basically anyone willing to bow and scrape to those whining at the top of their lungs about being such VICTIMS (not real victims, pretend ones) and getting people to apologize to them and bow and scrape to them. Hope that helps. I was going to say check an online dictionary, but surprise, surprise, it's not in the online dictionary. (That's really bad since these terms have been around for at least 5-8 years.)
I think there actually should not be liberal or conservative Christianity because we take those sides and then view each other in oppositional terms. We are to stick to what the word of the Lord says whether it is in opposition to Liberal or Conservative Christianity. The woke culture in the church is quite common and popular in many churches today and people do not realize how retrogressive it can be to the growth of the church. To follow God we have to go through the narrow way not the wider way that everyone seems to want to follow.
I have a thousand times more respect for this guy (don't know him yet, just going on this short clip) than I do that false Alan Parr guy. Hope you won't be doing many more videos with him. What this man in this video said did surprise me though. I didn't know what the church was up to at all in the 80's and 90's or even the 2000's. I wasn't saved until 2015. But I am a bit appalled to hear that the "church" (different in every conversation) was just in the 80's and 90's doing racial reconciliation. Did it really take the church that long? I was doing that in my own heart in the 70's before I was even fully grown. I'd love some background on this.
I’m so tired of evangelical churches. They try to hard to be relevant and cool. I was raised in a conservative denomination, but I’ve notice so many returning to Catholicism . I think it’s because of the inconsistencies in Protestantism. I have disagreements with several catholic doctrines , but I do understand their desire for a more traditional worshipful feel. I would go to a different church than the one I currently go to but my husband is happy there because he doesn’t have to deal with meet and greet , people at all and because the teaching is good and he likes it. We drive 30 minutes to get there. I was so involved in church and serving my whole life but not anymore. I really miss being part of a church body.
I like what Dr. Lutz brings to the table. Simply put, Satan is out to spin all that Christ came to die for. The Lord looks at the heart and spiritual aspect of our lives, whereas Satan corrupts from the flesh and the mind. The inner man vs the outer. Works slowly to take your attention off God. CRT comes directly from hell itself.
"Whoever makes himself a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God." (James 4:4-8) Neither Right nor Left ideologies, nor any other politics, are in line with Christ and his kingdom. Power in this world is the temptation that Christ rejected. Christians' sole task is to carry the grace of God in Jesus Christ to every soul. Everything else is distraction and temptation.
"Doctrinally sound evangelical churches". I wanted to know what her idea of sound doctrine is. So I went to her site and clicked a few times to see a statement of faith. It was not all encompassing but not wrong on any individual points. And it isn't possible for a member of the Body of Christ to "go woke". We are baptized BY the Holy Spirit into Christ. We have the mind of Christ. A Christian (as I am stating) will never confess evil as good. That does not mean the dead body we possess does not do evil. Paul says it does. The body is dead because of sin, but our spirit is alive. So if they are "woke" they were never saved. I never heard his reason on why.
There are those conditions like hunger that often do not just 'begin' as much as something makes you aware of your hunger and you aren't sure when it 'started'. That is how woke is. However, there are those changes in say, the consumer market, where a trial of markets (locations) or just lower, less risky pushes into the market at large is tried, perfected, then the full scale is released. Woke is like that. Before there was woke, there was the same thing but limited to men and women, husbands and wives, fathers and mothers. It was and still is fully acceptable to bash men in any role, while claiming it was a joke. Whereas God expects and commands one thing, many church leaders taught another and eventually no one could really claim it was all just harmless, and one sided, simple joking. Mistakes happen, but it takes a pretty dark heart to refuse to admit the wrongs and address them. (Jokes themselves are not the issue, it is lying about it being a joke when, like most modern comedy, it is really an indirect attack. Balanced scales and equal weights are not a suggestion.) Prov 26:18-Prov 26:19 ESV Like a madman who throws firebrands, arrows, and death is the man who deceives his neighbor and says, “I am only joking!” The Pharisees coldly condemned the Sadducees and less popular groups, yet Jesus said of them they were condemned to to their self exalting pride. The weeping sinner begging for undeserved mercy was granted it, while the picture of gravitas pharisee stayed in his condemnation yet was clearly more theologically sound. Matthew 23:23-24 ESV "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you tithe mint and dill and cumin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law: justice and mercy and faithfulness. These you ought to have done, without neglecting the others. You blind guides, straining out a gnat and swallowing a camel!"
An evangelical denomination goes 'woke' sadly the same way any secular organization does: 1) the Canaan Effect: what our culture does, we will do, too. IT's very difficult to be 'countercultural' over a long period of time (the virtue of perseverance takes discipline and that requires an unchanging goal --- where there is no vision, the people go crazy), and 2) The Evangelical Left (Jim Wallis's _Sojourners_ magazine is a long-standing example of that) is 'progressive,' that is, it wants to 'progress,' which in its eyes means to change which means to take apart no matter what it takes apart to 'progress' until the taking apart becomes the only goal because it's not disciplined enough to figure out where it should be going. Progressive Christianly just needs to tear down without knowing what it should then create. Creating is hard, tearing apart is easy and it makes us feel like we're doing something. Of course, we're not, we're only distracting ourselves from building the Kingdom of God, but we're Doing Something. It's hard to build when you're anti-something. We only build when we're pro-something specific. I have watched my old evangelical denomination go quite woke just for these reasons: there were left-of-center leaders (they always want to be leaders, since that's the only way they can make the denomination 'progress') who eventually gained a critical mass to create their bubble in which they assured each other that they were right (since they were 'doing good'), and therefore everybody who questions their methods is Bad. Cancel culture is very alive in the woke evangelical Church because woke evangelicals are just like woke anybody and everybody else. Adjectival Christians soon emphasize the adjective more than the noun ('Christian') until they can't tell the difference. They're doing God's Work, you see, and if they have to kick out and cancel those who question them, then that's just the price of righteousness, especially Racial Righteousness, which tolerates no opposition.
'Racial Righteousness' sounds just like woke-ism. They both tolerate no opposition - anywhere in the world - to them. I'm trying to untangle these threads as a new Christian: what is "racial righteousness"? Or how would you define it?
@@thecrew777 _what is "racial righteousness"? Or how would you define it?_ That depends on who's doing the defining. Usually it is not defined, just invoked when questioned, but from what I have seen it's following the directives and methods of Ibram Kendi (Glenn Loury and John McWhorter said that Kendi is a 'lightweight.' After reading his book I would say that he is not an academic, his history is excreble and his evidence and logic even worse) and his lieutenants like Jemar Tisby ( _The Color of Compromise,_ one of the books our Antiracism program required us to read) and 'allies' like Robin Diangelo ( _White Fragility,_ a book in which Robin tries to inflict her neuroses on her readers). That means for all whites to accept the guilt of racism since they are 'complicit' in the racism that is inescapable because 'systemic' in and at all levels of American society for all of American history. Then they, the whites, have to accept discrimination against them to allow Blacks to advance to the same economic status as whites, which includes 'reparations' for slavery and for _de jure_ racism like Jim Crow in the South and the _de facto_ racism like 'redlining' in the North. And of course, microagressions are an ever-present fact that need to be countered and unlearned. This is part of the 'dismantling' of racism that needs to be the (not 'a') foremost POV, lifestyle, and goal of all Americans in all of American society. If you suggest that any of this is A) illogical, B) unhistorical, and/or C) counter to human nature, you are immediately labeled 'racist' and canceled. Friends will shun you, and if you had a position of influence or leadership, you will not be offered another one when this one is finished, which it soon will be. That is the cost of not being 'racially righteous.' If you suggest that none of the foregoing is found anywhere in the Bible (how many times did Jesus say that we must 'dismantle' the Roman Empire, say?) and therefore has nothing to do with righteousness, you will be labeled a racist, against racial righteousness, and canceled. Because, you see, Ibram Kendi is the Way of Racial Righteousness.
He says his church was working on Racial reconciliation, before CRT came in. Couldn’t one wonder if “racial reconciliation “ paved the way for CRT ? Where does the Bible proscribe racial reconciliation in the mission of the Church?
It's easy, hire pastors that care more about the collection plate than teaching and enforcing the word of God in their congregation. Started with not teaching and revering old testament. We just want that nice inclusive religion.

Worship in truth has not been happening since the unbiblical practice of Sunday keeping. Fix that, and alot fixes itself. The works of Sunday keeping is the foundational flaw of the vast majority of professing Christianity. Not even rest, is works. Obeying men instead of God, leads to eventual collapse. It's already happening to the Methodists and wokes.
The right wing will enact Sunday Laws and people will receive the "mark of the beast". If you do not worship on Sunday, you cannot buy or sell. We will revert back to the "dark ages" where true Christians were sacrificed because they would not bend their knee to the Papacy. However, this will bring about the return of Jesus to destroy Satan and his evil angels. Many people will be deceived...

The Catholic Church already experienced this kind of wokeness, back in the 60s called Vatican II, so what's new in world today ??? nothing new under the sun
To Answer the question... And evangelical church can go woke because it was woke to begin with...even the word evangelical connotes politics informing faith instead of faith informing politics.. most evangelical churches are woke because the Spirit is not there.
Jesus says we will know a tree by the fruit it produces.(Luke 6). What sort of fruit does this church produces? Unfortunately many Christians and preachers alike will be thrown to hell for many of us ignore the poor and the unfortunate during our lives. Jesus has warned us about this and still many neglect it. Can this kind of faith save him? If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacks daily food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, keep warm and eat well,” but you do not give them what the body needs, what good is it? So also faith, if it does not have works, is dead being by itself. But someone will say, “I have faith and you have works.” Show me your faith without works and I will show you my faith by my works. You believe that God is one; well and good. Even the demons believe that - and tremble with fear.

666 will rapidly become a trend. even the elect will deceived.
Churches that go WOKE are "religious", not Christian. They have no real connections with Jesus, so they are easily deceived and led astray.
The church is largely asleep and caving in to the culture and that's why a lot of this is happening. They're not going to be many true Christians left after this sifting that going on.
I appreciate DR. Lutzer, and did my undergrad where he taught prior to his move to Moody memorial church
( Moody Bible institute), Howver, he slightly overlooks here that one reason this happens is that diverse people groups within the church can only be "pulled apart if they do not truly share close friendships outside of where they gather for worship. i also planted and pastored a church which became incredibly diverse/multicultural in Europe.

We've been played by our own sin nature. ...don't give demonic forces more credit than they deserve.
Dr. Adrian Rogers once said; anytime you go to look for the devil in the church house, don’t forget to look behind the pulpit!”
He was my favorite!
Quick answer, faith requires courage, indeed God gives courage to speak against sin! The church is asleep. Bonhoeffer tried to warn the German churches to speak out against Hitlers fascism, but they remained silent. Re-reading this amazing book.

Why should prayer and Bible reading be in schools in the first place? That’s hyper religious bigotry.

Pressures of fear & temptation, same as the rest of us fall.
Great interview
The one thing I have learnt about turning to Yeshua and accepting Him… is that FAITH is a marathon… not a sprint…
Keep Your Eyes Fixed On Yeshua…!!
Please pray for a revival and/or A Great Awakening in the U.S.A. by the grace of God Almighty. Amen. This is our only hope. Amen again.
The ethics of CRT is "do unto others as they have done unto you" (or, more accurately, as their ancestors did to your ancestors).
Oh, it's not JUST critical race theory. Feminism has played a HUGE role in tearing down.
I also think feminism started everything, because of all the women empowerment-people saw what could be done and it was easy for all the racial division and LGBT+ stuff to become widespread. It's just really sad, people need to truly know Jesus to be content.

It ultimately enslaves the mind.

The solution is never too break off ties. In my opinion...

@@lkae4 comments like these are the reasons why "Woke" ideology will be the destruction of the west and why you will be able to do nothing about it. You minimize the pain that some of your brothers and sisters and Christ experienced, therefore giving room for the devil to destroy. The Old Testament consistently reminded us to practice both righteousness AND justice. But since the likes of you minimize and pervert true justice, you will have to eat the fruit of your ways (a destroyed western world).
Interesting! I would agree with that people should not play the victim. Unless of course, they are still being victimized!!! Illegal slavery ended after many lives that were lost because a group of American citizens thought it should continue because......?
The UMC is also going WOKE. We will see if I am right or not after the next worldwide conference. I hope I am wrong.
This happened at our former church.
The pastors brought in a group of speakers to host a conference where many of the speakers talked just like what Dr. Lutz describes here.
The result was incredibly divisive and many left the church.
Wrong
Please keep up the good work, you're one of the good ones.
When the Church doesn't focus on the Bible. The enemy comes in and condones sin and not the truth
amen from taiwan, many churches here are woke, too....
“Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ. For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.” -Colossians 2:8-10
Perhaps correct the name of your guest in the notes to Dr. Erwin Lutzer, rather than Dr. Lutz.
It's not just homosexuality, it's many things that is corrupt in the so called churches ♥
What book is he refuting to?
It's almost like the tower of babble. We were getting rid of racism and coming closer and then bang! CRT!
So, racism was still in the church in the 80's and 90's? (I ask because I was not part of the church during those decades.)
.....even though other nationalities did!!
So Mr Lutz says, in ref. to Rev. 5 and it’s depiction on racial unity around the throne of God, that in his church “…we were working toward racial reconciliation…”
And THAT is the answer to the question of how Evangelical churches go woke.
Encourage ideas and opinions.

Ezekiel 33:29

Jude 1:15

Racial reconciliation absolutely destroyed the church I grew up in. A new pastor claimed our church was racist, and it never was..been in that church all my life, but he was placing his sin on the congregation. I am so sick of hearing about racial reconciliation. If you pastors would just preach the perfect and pure Gospel…guess what, all these issues would heal themselves. Does that mean it would be perfect…absolutely not because we are humans…but, the Truth would be the reigning doctrine. Sick of rr. EVERYBODY IS PREJUDICE IN SOME WAY.

Have visited Moody Church while serving w/ Jesus Ppl USA, still hq'd in the olde Uptown Chicago. The woke thing visited us back in the 90s, I was accused of an unspecified attitude - & wound up being fired.
And that largely w/o cause, I was in point of fact warning the elders of this very thing - sadly they embraced the strife over unity, & welcomed their own Trojan; and I was kicked to the curb as early as the mid-90s, this' not such a new thing, or of the Holy Spirit.
We need another reformation.
Excellent!

What do you think is happening here? Give it a read. Revelation 3:14-22.
So sad.
"Whoever makes himself a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God." (James 4:4-8)
Neither Right nor Left ideologies, nor any other politics, are in line with Christ and his kingdom.
Does anyone have an example of a pentecostal church going woke?
Balanced scales and equal weights are not a suggestion.)
Prov 26:18-Prov 26:19 ESV
Like a madman who throws firebrands, arrows, and death is the man who deceives his neighbor and says, “I am only joking!”
The Pharisees coldly condemned the Sadducees and less popular groups, yet Jesus said of them they were condemned to to their self exalting pride. The weeping sinner begging for undeserved mercy was granted it, while the picture of gravitas pharisee stayed in his condemnation yet was clearly more theologically sound.
Matthew 23:23-24 ESV
"Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you tithe mint and dill and cumin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law: justice and mercy and faithfulness. These you ought to have done, without neglecting the others. You blind guides, straining out a gnat and swallowing a camel!"
Please address Russophobia in the churches.
Also address how the evangelical church goes MAGA. Just as bad or worse. MAGA has chosen Barabbas.
Or how would you define it?_
That depends on who's doing the defining.
That is the cost of not being 'racially righteous.'
If you suggest that none of the foregoing is found anywhere in the Bible (how many times did Jesus say that we must 'dismantle' the Roman Empire, say?) and therefore has nothing to do with righteousness, you will be labeled a racist, against racial righteousness, and canceled. Because, you see, Ibram Kendi is the Way of Racial Righteousness.
Is there a difference between liberalism and progressivism?
Not any more...used to be.
