Just like John Cooper, my mum also had cancer. While I was lost in drinking and drugs and wild teenager. The night I got baptized, my mums best friend told me, "all your mum ever wanted was to see you saved... At a meeting a pastor asked anybody looking prayer for healing to come forward, when my mum and her friend got to the stage, she said 'I don't want prayer for myself, I want you to pray that my son will get saved'. I feel that one of the reasons Christians 'lost credibility' is even more basic -- Loss of belief in Creation. The Bible correlates purity with recognizing God as Creator. If we dont take the creation account seriously we lose the story of Adam and Eve, We lose original sin. And which parts of the Bible do we keep or set aside? If we write off creation, it makes perfect sense to set aside theology of suffering and hell too, because they are even harder to explain. According to a study by Ken Ham 'Already Compromised', In Christian Colleges and Universities -science majors are more likely to believe in a young earth than religion majors! This is because Christians who are science majors realize how Weak the theory of evolution is. Maybe if we address this foundation, which is cracked and falling apart will have more of an effect than we realize. God bless you

@@harrysphincter6496 I love science and glad for new inventions. Inventors and scientists have often believed in creation. According to evolutionists the last couple of major steps in man evolving from ape happened over the last 4 million years. But there were not that many hominids. Here is a quote from Wikipedia on Prehistoric Demography (linked below): "A total of 2 billion to 20 billion hominids that lived during that approximately 4,000,000-year time span.[11]" We currently have 7.8 billion on the earth today. During those 4 million years it would have taken decades to produce 100,000 births. But we have 100,000 people being born every single day now. Yet instead of genetic mutations leading in positive directions we usually see very negative outcomes. We are involved in the special needs community - and several have a 'genetic defect'. And these defects can be something as simple as getting 2 copy of mom's instead of 1 mom and 1 dad in a certain position on a certain chromosome. The results from what seems like a minor mutation can actually affect several parts of a person and on ability to walk, speak, learn, vision...parents of children with genetic defects think evolution is very unlikely. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prehistoric_demography#:~:text=Prehistoric%20demography%2C%20paleodemography%20or%20archaeological,and%20hominid%20demography%20in%20prehistory.

I used to work at a Bible College in So. Cal., where they would have free concerts for the public during the summer. Almost all the bands that would play had contract riders that included weird or sometimes even crazy requirements for them to play. Some were long lists of foods, requests for no employees to approach the band, a particular brand of expensive bottled water, etc.. Skillet & Christafari were by far the easiest bands to work with. Skillet said they could just eat whatever the students eat in the cafeteria, and wanted zero special attention. And they were super humble down to earth. They have had a special spot in my heart ever since.

The ladies in the band stayed in the pastor's house. But Mark wanted no special treatment. They were VERY down to earth and loved hangin out with the students. • @TinkerBell-bt6vu
      @TinkerBell-bt6vu 3 ปีที่แล้ว +12

@@mbarnabeus Hello brother, the scripture verse in Jeremiah is not talking about Christmas trees lol. Ps. it isn't talking talking about trees at all. You took one sentence and ripped it out of the passage that surrounds it. Yes that one single sentence is about a tree, but the verses before are very important to understanding that verse, and the verses IMMEDIATELY AFTER are even MORE important to understanding that verse. We cannot rip sentences out the Bible and make them say what we want. There are 3 rules to proper Biblical exegesis: 1. Context 2. Context 3. Context.
Read 10 sentences before and 10 sentences after and it will be crystal clear it is talking about cutting down the tree, getting a master craftsman who will carve and shape it (who does that for a Christmas tree anyway? Your argument falls apart right there). Then they will paint it with silver and gold....and it is talking about carving IDOLS! and then the flowing verses talk about those idols that were just carved. It is extremely clear if you read it in context
You do know that "verses" are not divinely inspired like the rest of the Bible. The "chapter and verse numbers" were added in centuries later. They were added in so that we could easily and quickly reference the scripture when studying and talking about it to others (this should be common knowlege). The original books - eg. Genesis, Jeremiah, Matthew etc etc - are actually books unto themselves. The Bible is made up of 66 different books. This is vitally important! When you read a book - even textbooks- do you read it sentence by sentence and then derive your meaning on a standalone basis. Of course not! The meaning of each sentence in any book is based on the CONTEXT of the story - especially what comes directly before and after. So we can't just pull a single sentence and make up a meaning for it - especially when the meaning is given directly after that sentence.
So if you read the paragraph before and after that verse you will clearly see that it is talking about making idols out of wood. Once you cut the tree down it says they get a master craftsman and he carves it and covers it in silver and gold (exactly like the idols the other nations were making)
We also understand scripture in context of the rest of scripture. and the "paint them silver and gold" is found in another place in the Bible (the verses are clearly referencing eachother) and that other verse is ALSO talking about idols. It's as if they were interpreting eachother (how about that!)
And then the sentence right after that (amd before that) it talks about worshipping the idols that were made out of that tree. It is describing idols it is so clear but you have to read it IN CONTEXT.

I think more so he hit on the fact that young people are often going off a philosophy that by questioning everything and deconstructing any message they hear, they are thinking for themselves. Many are parroting back socially popular messages buy many othes are very much following their own human wisdom and very much "thinking for themselves" problem is, like he points out, this is usually happening without the real time or patience to truly understand the thing they are deciding about. But the real issue is that God calls us not to think for ourselves but to look at things through His heart and His word. Thinking for oneself in this day and age is honestly so exhausting.

*Awesome God* was written and sung by my friend Rich Mullins.
He was killed in a car wreck, my friend Mitch McVicker was with him and we almost lost him too.
Rich hated "Awesome God", or thought it was not one of his better songs and said he thought it would "fall out of use". But that's the one Rich song everyone knows. You must listen to the verses too though, churches seem to just like the chorus.
Reich's music... I can't think of much that's been that good, especially in the last (yikes, this will be 24 years, feels like yesterday) years. I was so sad recently, put Rich in "random" and just had myself a mini concert a few nights ago. It was just the best time! A lot of Mitch's music is really good too, his life show is fantastic, I always encourage people to see him live.

Are you saved from your sins?
Jesus commanded the apostles after His resurrection, to preach repentance and remission of sins, in His name, beginning at Jerusalem, and to wait for the promise of the Father, in Jerusalem. -Luke 24
45 Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,
46 And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behooved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:
47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
48 And ye are witnesses of these things.
49 And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.
      --
And on the day of Pentecost, the Holy Ghost was poured out [Acts 2]
And they spake with tongues as the Spirit gave the utterance.
And Peter preached the gospel unto them and they were pricked in their hearts, and said, men and brethren what shall we do?
And Peter said, Repent, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
This is how the bible says a man is to be saved.
This is why Jesus said, he that believeth and is baptized shall be saved and he that believeth not shall be damned -Mark 16
      Acts 2:
36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made the same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.
37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?
38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.
40 And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.
41 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.
42 And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.

When I moved to a near area several years ago I looked for a church with a pastor and staff that was not just young people. There were only a few... Such a shame to see the Body of Christ push out the old for the new. We don’t need young “hip” pastors, we need those who have been in the fight for a long time and have a wealth of help to pass along! I am certainly not against raising up the young to serve, we should, but we can’t just eliminate the old warriors!!!

None of us can fully escape this blindness, but we shall certainly increase it, and weaken our guard against it, if we read only modern books. Where they are true they will give us truths which we half knew already. Where they are false they will aggravate the error with which we are already dangerously ill. The only palliative is to keep the clean sea breeze of the centuries blowing through our minds, and this can be done only by reading old books.”

The blood of Christ has paid for all of your sins and Christ will always be your advocate before God, and you are permanently sealed by the Holy Spirit unto salvation.

      Your statement is correct.
      Everybody needs to know this!
The whole world is drunk on the doctrines of Babylon.
INCLUDING and ESPECIALLY the visible Christian church!
PLEASE if you can sense the deadness of the institutional churches and different ministries but can't put your finger on it. I'm pleading with you to understand something very important here. The mainstream Christian system is not of God.
Rev 17:5 - "Mystery, Babylon The Great, The Mother Of Harlots, And Abominations Of The Earth."
Mystery Babylon The Great is the Vatican - “And the woman which thou sawest, is that great Citie which reigneth ouer the kings of the earth.” - Rev 17:18
And she has harlot daughters which represent the protestant church world.
And “the Abominations Of The Earth” are corrupt scriptures.
And the final bible that will unite all faiths is called Wormwood/the Abomination of desolation. cvillebiblebaptist.com/AdultEducation/Vatican%20and%20United%20Nations%20Bible.pdf
And Jesus Christ is calling His people out.

      Rev 18:4
“And I heard another voice from heauen, saying, Come out of her, my people, that yee be not partakers of her sinnes, and that yee receiue not of her plagues:”
The most important thing to understand is that GOD CAN BE TRUSTED to preserve His word for every generation forever as He promises us in Psalms 12:6-7 and you do not need men to teach you.
      1 John 2:27
“But the anointing which ye haue receiued of him, abideth in you: and yee need not that any man teach you: But, as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is trueth, and is no lye: and euen as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.”
It’s vital to know, especially right now, that God has kept His word in tact.
There is still an every word testimony with us!
The following clip by Reg Block is what the Lord used to open my eyes to the truth of Gods promises in Mark 13:31, Psalm 12:6-7, Psalms 138:2, and Matt 4:4 and so on.
It’s not more lifeless information. It is powerful and life changing and I’m grateful for it! th-cam.com/video/tAMOquyQu-8/w-d-xo.html
The next video is a lesson by John Doerr on the pure word of God in the English language, which is found in the av1611 kjv. This is a much different testimony than the King James bible you are able to easily find in the churches and the so called "Christian bookstores". Please pray and genuinely take this before the Lord. He will show you. (Prepare to be attacked once you start down this path) The devil and his ministers don’t want this going out.

But like most of us, I kept returning to church Sunday after next hoping something would change. If I sang more, prayed harder, got more involved, etc, ...maybe something would give. But nothing ever did. I must have walked a thousand isles. It had gotten to a point where a friend at the time said, “just try and sing". He meant well, but it was always disingenuous so I never did. Long story short - my whole Christian life was that way until recently. (powerless) God has since saved me through genuine faith alone in Jesus Christ and now my labouring has finally ceased and I share in the Lords light burden and easy yoke. I’m born again of the Spirit.
I really hope this reaches somebody. If this is you... honestly, please look into what I’m saying. God is rich in mercy and His patience is unmatched. He's been drawing me for a long time. Maybe He’s drawing you too and this is the message you needed.
      There is still hope.
This link is a series of interviews between Reg Block and John Doerr that go in depth regarding Johns trip to England for the purposes of co-producing three films: A lamp in the dark, Tares among the wheat and A bridge to babylon.
The three films (free to watch), cover the history of the bible. More specifically the preservation of Gods word and the measures that have been taken to cast doubt on, and ultimately destroy it.

It’s imperative to understand that the av1611 is much different than the 1769 KJV that most believe is the true 1611 but is not. The KJV only movement doesn’t use the authorized version of 1611 either.
This is the bible that Rome has been trying to destroy and cast doubt on since its inception. Everything, from the gun powder plot to false rumours of King James being gay. It contains all the prophecies in tact. Things like, what is the mark of the beast, what is wormwood, who and what is Antichrist, who are Leviathan and Behemoth representations of, and so on.
If the scriptures are broken, the prophets are killed and the church can’t hear what the Spirit is saying.

The following is something I would like to add to this conversation, and was something I had been pondering for a while now. I humbly submit it here.
    (posted Jan 20th)
Ive been giving a lot of thought lately to the first half of the Book of Psalms, Skillet's frontman's public comments on worship leaders in the church, and the notion of authenticity within the Body....
I hate vocalizing this.... but I am starting to believe that the reason so many pastors and worship leaders are falling away lately is because we as a Body refuse to give Authenticity it's due, we are focused on always keeping the bright and shining face, the public face, the face that tells others in their despair and trials to "let go and let God"....
We dont pray like David prayed. We honestly wouldnt allow it in church. Someone walks in, broken, shattered, in deep grief..... and we automatically tell them to "give it to God" or "have more faith" or "dont lose heart".... we rail on Job's friends, yet fail to see how at least Job's friends sat with him for 7 DAYS in silence because their friend's grief was so great.....
we abhor authenticity in the church now days. and because of it, we are half people.... refusing to actually be real and honest (not just with us, but with God)
If someone came into our churches today and prayed like David in Psalm 28.... we would immediately start praying over him, declaring victory and triumph.... all the while failing to see that God wanted us to be real... vulnerable, broken..... for a season.
brokenness (hard as it may seem to accept) can be a blessing.
but these pastors and worship leaders who fall away, fall away because they are only half a person. They have never developed that brokenness, that authenticity, that vulnerability, that brokenness.
and such a life...... is rightly not to be viewed as complete.

I've never liked it when I go to one of my pastors and say "pastor, I'm lost. This and this are piling up. I need you to help my find God's will because I'm so buried I can't hear Him clearly" and all I get back is "just trust God." While it is good advice, it's not helpful to hear when someone feels lost. In my head, this somehow ties into your statements on the church not really "accepting" that people can be Christian and be broken.
On the flip side of things when it comes to "praying over him, declaring victory and triumph", I would think that that is the pastor(s) trying to help in the best way they know how and that is their first instinct--which is a good one to have. My first reaction when someone comes to me with a problem is to ask "how can I help", even if I know there isn't much I can do BESIDES pray for them

"They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us. But they went out, that it might become plain that they all are not of us." 1 John 2:19

So in a moment of discomfort, I would go back and read a few verses or chapter before that verse to get the context of it, and by so doing, I would have better understanding. The church has become so involved in "reaching" out to the lost, that a good portion has cut it's roots. It has become watered down, so focused on integrating into the popular culture and its mantras that it no longer is in this world, but not of it, but rather the opposite: of this world, but not in the Kingdom.

    • @LaureTheGamer
      @LaureTheGamer 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Can I just say that, ironically, my experience with many churches is that most are engaged in the wrong kind of outreach or trying to reach out in the wrong ways. As culture forgets how to have discussion with those it doesn’t agree with, so does the members of the church forget how to listen and discuss with those who don’t share their faith. Outreach isn’t about going out into the world and engaging in the world’s activities. Instead it’s about discussion and standing firm on what you believe when there’s a biblical reason for it. It’s about bringing those genuinely desiring to learn into the church to be surrounded by community and mentors as they learn and grow.
One of my experiences that blew my mind was from back when I was in college. We (college students) set up a weekly event on Friday nights for high school and college student where they would come to the church and play good, clean board games, card games, and video games together. We then would discuss and talk about God. We did it for 6 months at one church and brought in about 100 new faces, 30 of which got involved in the regular youth/college group church activities going forward. When we tried to find churches willing to support these activities with any sort of funding, they would never want to be involved anymore. The church leaders never visited the activities going on and often ignored the youth leaders about the positive impact it was having on bringing in youth and teaching college students to be leaders and talk about God. I’ll never forget, one of those very same churches then funded a much more expensive weekly community knitting project hosted outside the church. They were always trying to do the most snazzy thing instead of the things that actually brought new faces, ready to learn about God, into their doors.

I see the opposite, at least in my town. Some churches are refusing to follow the guidelines amidst this pandemic, like wearing masks. They're trying to "stick it to the government" I guess, despite what the Bible teaches about obeying governing authorities.....And a lot of people who need spiritual growth - like me and my mom - can't go anymore (she has underlying conditions and I feel uncomfortable with it) so we're left at home, as well as many others I assume, because of that.....And some of my fellow Christians are going out maskless, flatout disobeying the rules and making people freak out....As well as other "our way or the highway" scenarios. So much of what he said sounded like he was reading my bio, not that I ever sang in a band, although I wanted to, but as a teen I had a temper that was out of control, and as we move through this pandemic and look at the voter fraud I feel like God is telling me, "Don't worry. I love My people. That's the reason I'm establishing new leadership in America. I need My people to cry out to Me as they did long ago. When they do I will hear them. I will forgive them. I will hear their land." It's surprising how many Christians resonate with that message and how many utterly refuse that message. I no longer have flashes of anger like I used to, even though I get tempted. And even though with all we are going through I am at peace. I know God is in control. And yes, I've had a lot of death in my life too. Between 2015 and 2017 I lost my wife and both of my parents. 1Jn 2:19 They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us. But they went out, that it might become plain that they all are not of us.
I think some people may say a few words, go to church for a while, and think they are Christians.... while others make a pretense of believing but hate God and all who bear his name. These love to see people fall.

They are looking for validation, if they can convince others to agree, they must have been right. Others are testing, "Is this relationship still going to be compatible with my newly espoused worldview?" When the answer is no, they may try to bring you into their new worldview to salvage the relationship.

I love john cooper and korey. I’ve listened to him since the “original” skillet album. “I Can” is still one of the best songs he’s ever done. Always a bold witness, even somewhat of a Psalmist, I’ve worshipped the Lord with many of his songs for years. Jesus bless him.

Found out about your story and your book, “Another gospel” on Cross Examined. And now having Skillet lead singer on with his story is awesome. I am so glad there are heroes of the faith anchoring into Jesus and emphatic truth. Thank you for presenting what God has called you to share.

Thanks for sharing. My wife and I have been heartbroken watching friends walk away from God in recent years. Along with the Progressive Christianity influence there have been two key things that seem to coincide. Ones that walked away seem to have some deep hurts. They also seem to lack Biblical understanding. This includes friends that have served in the ministry.

It may be the case for some, but it was the opposite for me. I was a Christian who had pretty good knowledge of Christianity and I really believed in it. I started studying apologetics and reading my Bible more, and that led me to disbelieve. Also, I am pretty stable emotionally. No one in the church hurt or do I have resentment. I just dont believe. I know all cases are different, but it was curious to me that what you mentioned is totally untrue in my isolated case.

@@irvingalfaro8735 I am assuming you are at peace with your decision to leave but make sure it isn't a False Peace because understanding God's truth became difficult. Knowledge is important but it is important who you are listening to. It isn't a head trip anyway it is a faith journey. But I know it is tough at times understanding. Christian scandals really hurt like with apologetics teacher Ravi Zacharias who I respected and learned from. Good that he was outed but what a thing. I am solid in my faith so it hurt but wasn't earth shattering as I am sure it was for many.

@@lorene5170 that’s a dumb argument if yo don’t believe in the Bible. It’s like if I quote the Quran or any other religious book that goes against Christianity. Quoting the Bible is useless for those who don’t think it’s the ultimate truth.

@irving Alfaro All I did was point out that the Bible says all of the things that are happening today. I’m not arguing anything. My whole point to quoting is that a lot of people fall away because they were never born again to begin with. I’m not saying that happened to you but it’s a possibility. Sorry I offended you.

The problem is that Christians haven’t been taught as new Christians how to search out anything,. We’re missing disciples in the church today.

    • @nathaniel3004
      @nathaniel3004 3 ปีที่แล้ว

@@peggycarson8960 Well , I would not say that the churches are the church, since all of them preach different doctrines, all contrary to the doctrine of Christ.
The base principles of the doctrine of Christ, they leave out, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
Some buildings, will preach how to be saved from your sins, by obeying the gospel.
Repent, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
But leave off holiness, and continue in sin etc. or teach that God became a man, or that God is a trinity.
The bible says that Jesus is the Son of God.
God came upon Mary, and she conceived, and bare a Son, and his name was called Jesus.
It does not say that the Son of God, came down and entered into his own mother's womb.
But that the Holy Ghost came upon Mary and she conceived a bare a son.
And God cannot die, yet Jesus died on the cross, and God rose Him from the dead.
Jesus was born from God, this is why He called Him his Father, and that he is the only begotten of the Father.
      God is in Him.
Jesus said that God is a Spirit, and those that worship Him must worship Him in Spirit and in truth.
There is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.
