my ideas for the upgraded firing modes: painkiller - primary and combo fire pulls enemies towards it, as well as propelling the player forward shotgun - primary fire turns into flak cannon, where pellets bounce off of solid surfaces and hit multiple targets, freezer turns into an area of effect freeze bomb stakegun - stakes can fly through several enemies at a time, and don't fall down electrodriver - homing shurikens and chain lightning effect that sticks to multiple enemies in a row rocket launcher - rockets that can be shot for remote detonation heater/boltgun - sticky bombs that explode when enemies run into them
to be fair, doom eternal (and doom 4) are way more like painkiller than the original doom games. so even without the mod painkiller looks like doom eternal because the principle of those games are very much the same.
@@raum_3035 Why are you comparing this game to doom eternal?? These games are united only by the "Meat shooter" or "One against all" genre. And there are plenty of games of this genre.
@@Havcom imo they are kinda similar to each other. In both games, you have to kill every enemy in an arena before you can continue, almost never the case in the original doom games. The pacing is also pretty similar, since in both games, enemies are spawning in in waves, depending on how many you killed, which never happens in original doom games, since most enemies are already existing in the arena, or spawn in via triggers. The original doom games also dont feature secondary weapon functions, which is also something new doom and painkiller share. My point with the comment was more the comparison between the new doom games to the old doom games/painkiller games, since the original commentor said that the mod makes painkiller look like doom eternal, which it already looked like it to begin with. And the contrast is just greater when comparing it to the original doom games, so its more apparent how new doom games play more like painkiller than old doom games.
