MCH hands down has the best 123 combo in the game, and i luved how all 3 skills get upgraded with new animations as well. fuckin luv MCH and hope Square gives more jobs upgraded combos.
I'm new to FFXIV and Machinist is currently my favourite job to play. I'm able to focus on my positioning, learning boss mechanics, and wrapping my head around all the out-of-combat stuff without needing to worry about big combos and micromanagement.
Machinist is one of my favorite classes. Who doesn't want to rp Mastadio, Billy, or some other awesome gun slinger? Just wish they would add a raid buff or some group utility to make up for the lack of DPS.
I was main SAM for almost 2 years, but recently my friend recommended me playing as MCH and it was love at first sight. Yesterday i got lvl 61 with it and it gave me so much motivation to continue playing this game (because i was tired playing as SAM) and now it will be a pleasure to get it to lvl 90 and soon lvl 100
First time I get early to a vid release but I have to say this I tried Brd first but have to stop using it because it wasn't to appealing to me when I tried mch I immediately started leveling up to 90 Worth the time and effort
I am a fan of MCH so was interested in what your reasons where but have to say, this video was bad and hard to watch. I liked your points but apart from the pvp section, the video was a clip show of irrelevant videos that didn't really have anything to do with what you were talking about and made it difficult to follow what you were saying. What was the point of the clips at 5:00?
I enjoy it, but it really needs a look at. Doesn't need a heavy rework because the core rotation feels fine, what it needs is a reason to bring it instead of the other 2 classes. It's a magitek class, there has to be utility that fits in. Like a bubble shield or heal sprinkler from a turret. idk something that makes it worth taking, otherwise it's always going to be objectively worse instead of subjectively.
as an MCH main, i don't mind the lower damage numbers. i mean, we already have the advantage of keeping that damage rolling uninterrupted when we're out of melee range, so that's a good enough balance against dmg numbers. what i would love to see however is more utility skills; give me a reworked Bishop turret in pve where it' mitigates dmg within the aoe, or whatever else works, so we don't come off as too selfish a dps. give me a gap closer for those times when Sprint is on coolown, and a ringwide aoe is incoming and the only safe place is in melee range / behind the boss, but we're on the other side of the ring. give me something to combo with Scattergun, cause hey, listen to me, LISTEN; dual wielding Scatterguns, fired one at a time, could work.
On the subject of a mobility tool for MCH: Rocket Boots. Take a page from Guild Wars 2 and give MCH their own psuedo dash where they trigger Rocket Boots to either gap close or basically just a reskinned Dancer dash.
as someone who just recently leveled machinist i can say that the hyper charge phase feels satisfying. however there are just lots of things with it that make me prefer bard as my ranged. the aoe feels pretty wonky at times and the recast timers dont really line up well. it doesnt help that flamethrower is lame. i love the animation so i do use it in clubs or sometimes i just use it on down times for fun if i just feel like nothing is happening. in dungeons i just find it better to click scatter shot because at least you are building up your gauge with it and dont have to risk an aoe. another thing about machinist I wasn't really feeling was that it has no dash. its not necessary because of their ranged nature but there are a lot of times where i just wish i had one so i can dash away from danger. but i do think theres lots of things there to love. Drill and Anchor Shot are just amazing skills and i really love wild charge
I can’t play it anymore even though it’s my favorite. The rdps is way too low. I can’t show up to the raid party and say, “Hey guys, I have some of the lowest dps in game, and offer no utility. Thanks for having me.” It doesn’t even make sense. It should be a little stronger than RDM and SMN, honestly. Or at least have a two min buff. It’s the most unbalanced class in game. Exchanging all utility and good dps for a few thousand health is silly.

Machinist is a very fun casual class and was my main job for a large portion of MSQ. Unfortunately however, I soured on the class once I started getting into higher end content. As a selfish dps with only tactician to offer as utility, the overall damage output is not high enough to make it feel worth using over Bard or Dancer in high end content. Hypercharge and Wildfire also could greatly benefit from being changed to a charge based system, as any player with suboptimal ping will tell you it can be very difficult to fit all of your GCDs into those windows under the current system, which results in a rather substantial potency loss over the course of a duty by no fault of your own. Even with good ping you still have to be careful when to weave your hypercharge, as weaving it too early will result in a lost heat blast, but if you weave too late you may end up clipping your next GCD. That delicate weaving balancing act on top of making sure you're not going to drift your Drill, Air Anchor, or Chainsaw cooldowns during your hypercharge phase makes what should be the most rewarding part of your rotation the most stressful when you're trying to optimize at a high level.
The reason why machinist deals so little damage is because of the job not having very many restrictions to uptime. You can move freely, you don't have to stay in melee range to attack the boss, you don't have to stand still and cast etc.
Thats bullshit. Every ranged class has this and with the big ass Hitboxes we got in savage 6.X its not really a uptime thing now. They need to overwork mch asap
My opinion on MCH is this. It’s fun to pick up and play and is really really good in casual content and party finder groups. That said it does have damage that is a bit low if you are trying to minmax. However I do believe that MCH has to be lower than BRD and DNC in ideal situation rDPS. The reason is that BRD and DNC parses rely on the performance of other players. Meaning that to get a perfect BRD or DNC parse, not only do you have to play optimally, your group does too. MCH has the advantage of only needing to rely on the healer for sustainability and that’s it. SAM’s parse is reliant on the tank positioning the boss well and BLM’s parse is reliant on both the tank’s performance and having someone readily available to manip to for mechanics. MCH is the one class that is almost completely independent when it comes to parsing. And finally because I know someone will say it, “why are you talking about parsing?” Because I already mentioned that MCH is in a great position unless you are concerned with parses.
mch has allways been my best class but as of recent i feel like its a lot of pressing and the damage just isent good enough im currently trying my hand at tanks now untill mch gets a little buff
Do you *have* to use the mech pet for optimal DPS or is that just a specialization that can be substituted for a non-pet button? I like the class, but I despise pets.

i wish they gave mch more utility. Cool Tech drone shields, partybuffs for like more Crit or something with some drones and and and .. it has so much potency for cool utilitys. DPS is okey, i dont want a selfish dps in this game! It's a group game and i want SE to really massively overwork MCH

Idk but some classes just still have clunky animation. Like DRG, DRK, MCH can be SO much better with better idle animations - this is what stopping from playing such classes when you do look like awkward soldier with weapon. :)
MCH is a funny job.. One of the busiest job, very selfish and with very low dps.. It's so busy that flamethrower does nothing but just to let my fingers rest for 10s in dungeon and alliance raid.. Of cos, prepared to eat the aoe.. Overall MCH is not efficient, so busy and selfish yet the dps is so low.. however tbh, MCH is fun at least to me..
Love MCH since 5.x revamp But its aoe rotations are super janky. Badass animation aside, Flamethrower kinda sucks, you need to stand in place in melee range for 10 seconds. So either eat an aoe and piss off a healer, or dodge and lose out on the full 800 base dmg. LV90 dungeons have terrible habit of dropping random aoes near mobs when burning trash pulls lol. Maybe have a ground targetting flamethrower sprinkler that pulses aoe damage instead? Then there's its turret, it just does single target being a secondary auto-attack, be better if did ranged pulse aoe dmg, same for mech queen, 50% fall off dmg for aoe of all its own attacks. Minor nitpick on Wildfire, when it goes off you dont really _feel_ the kaboom of dmg it deals, gets lost in the sea or dmg numbers from other players. Maybe have it always be a crit direct hit.

1 Reason why you shouldn't play machinist: - Being a selfish DPS (with no buff or utility other than barricade), this class is supposed to have a very good DPS, which is not the case. Play Bard or Dancer if you want to be useful. :)
The hyper charge is the most boring part of MCH in my opinion because WAR has it then DRK got it now MCH got it too. Its just activate status x then spam 1 button with ogcds in between. So you're right when you say mch has an Identity crisis because its the 2nd WAR clone. Even when i understand why they changed MCH heavensward and stormblood MCH was way better and more satisfying to play.
This comment is filled with never actually played Machinist if comparing it to WAR and DRK. Hypercharge giving you a 1.5s gcd weaponskill that also recharges 2 offensive ogcds resulting in a status that gives you an attack every 0.75s. WAR and DRK's do not. They are a 2.3-2.5s gcd with no ogcd benefit other than what they have normally outside of their status anyway. (Which with Warrior isn't much anyway)

Are they all WAR clones? *note I use Thin Air here because I refer to abilities when MCH changed in Shadowbringers, and not the Endwalker forms.

@@matteagle9780 Can't you see that Hypercharge is more than that? WAR can use Fell Cleave without the status. DRK can use Bloodspiller without the status. MCH needs Hypercharge to even use Heat Blast, which has unique effects compared to Fell Cleave & Bloodspiller. Reduced GCD + ogcd regeneration for Ricochet and Gauss Shot. It is by and far not the same other than "Press status, use attack." which can apply to many more jobs as I stated before. It is more like Summoner, which can't use Fountain of Fire without first using Firebird Trance.
I am confused on how you can say low dps. I might not play with the best players and I am not so great myself but over 20 mins of rotation I can maintain 7,000 dps @ 596 ilvl. My drg @ 600 does 7,400 and Rpr slightly higher. In raids I see some nutty outputs due to potions and team synergy. I don't have Brd or Dnc leveled up but maybe someone can enlighten me on there damage output over 20 min rotation.

It’s not really a pet. You just summon it and it attacks whatever you have targeted. Nothing to micromanage.

What i mean with its a clone from war is that is the absolut same playstyle.
Press inner release (or what its called) and then spam fell cleave. Same thing is what drk got and its the same what they did with mch hyper charger. Cant you see that?
@@matteagle9780 Can't you see that Hypercharge is more than that? WAR can use Fell Cleave without the status. DRK can use Bloodspiller without the status.
MCH needs Hypercharge to even use Heat Blast, which has unique effects compared to Fell Cleave & Bloodspiller. Reduced GCD + ogcd regeneration for Ricochet and Gauss Shot.
It is by and far not the same other than "Press status, use attack." which can apply to many more jobs as I stated before.
It is more like Summoner, which can't use Fountain of Fire without first using Firebird Trance.
I am confused on how you can say low dps. I might not play with the best players and I am not so great myself but over 20 mins of rotation I can maintain 7,000 dps @ 596 ilvl. My drg @ 600 does 7,400 and Rpr slightly higher. In raids I see some nutty outputs due to potions and team synergy. I don't have Brd or Dnc leveled up but maybe someone can enlighten me on there damage output over 20 min rotation.
