I've still had some hour long queues as both probably depends on time of day or something.
Remember: The only point of HP that matters is the last one.

If only I can get my paladin friend to realize that. Who cares if you deal more damage if you have a full HP, my aetherflow is almost of cd and I still have two charges to burn on dps!

As a tank main, I can confirm healers aren't sweet, innocent individuals who use their powers to help others, they're cruel sadistic bastards who are fully aware that you're entirely dependent on them to survive and would drop you without a moments hesitation
It's mutual dependency. They keep us alive so they don't get beaten to death.
The moment a healer gives me sass, I stop trying to aggro mobs and walk away. Yeah, I might die too and get the rest of the group to hate me, but at least I let that snooty punk with a god complex remember what's its like to be ganked by 8 mobs at once with nothing to protect them but some cloth and a bargin bin stick.
I'm a paladin, I'm my own healer
*Laughs in Paladin* I've literally kept myself and 1 other DPS up through multiple dungeon bosses at 80. I DEPEND ON NO ONE.
*Laughs in Warrior*. I've solo'd the last half of Eden Iconoclasm as war before just because of how stupid their self-healing is. Heck, can keep a dps alive relatively well as a war, too.
Healers: For when your idea of relaxing is trying to keep several suicidal toddlers from sticking forks in the wall sockets while also accomplishing chores.

I picked thaumaturgy first cause I want to have black mage as one of my available jobs, but I also wanna grab a healer job too cause I too enjoy holding the lives of my allies in my hands
@@arcaniumdragon2444 White mage is the most straightforward, scholar is pretty fucking Janky but it’s also arguably the strongest if you can play around that, and Astro has very strong raid buffs and a lot of pretty animations. The new healer coming out is not gonna be available To you for a while because it requires level 70 and by then you should probably have a good grasp on what you want to play but it has a similar role in the party to a scholar.
Sometimes medicine is painful.
Like chemotherapy. Or amputations.
@@CdrChaos I've said it before, and I'll say it again, you have to be a bit bloodthirsty to want to heal people. Because sometimes that requires stabbing the shit out of someone and sticking your hands into the hole you just opened in their chest, or just straight up cutting off their limbs.
Sure, you're keeping them alive, but doing that can get messy and violent at times.

@@Chippaization in the game The Secret World (Funcom) all healer roles could, use Dps abilities too or stick to only healing ... Although the later didn't benefit them as much with resources (needed to cast finishers or even some elite abilities).

@@Glaswalker1001 I'd say that applies to all roles referencing the other ones in one way or another. It's just easier to notice it on healers and tanks because their performance impacts the survival of their party, whereas DPS 'only' make the fights/dungeon runs take longer (unless you are in prog and deal with enrages).

My "god complex" as a healer is mostly just my soul growing ever more bitter every time I roulette with a tank that doesn't use mitigation and gets mad when they die because I ran out of MP even after popping lucid.
I'm a lv68 SCH and even at this level, if I am running out of MP or even coming close you are absolutely blowing it as a tank. or the DPS is causing major issues and distracting you too much to do things well. it's what I'm there for, and I'll do my best, but I am definitely not gonna get yelled at if it doesn't work out lol.

I mean, it's true. Insult your healer, and you quickly find yourself WITH NO HEALER. I mean, they're there, but it's gotta hurt when they heal everyone BUT you. Not hurt as much as the boss wailing on you, but still hurt.

@@tyrongkojy Yep. Every healer learns really quickly just how far their heals extend and will absolutely figure out how to do their AOE heals while excluding problem players in the process. I have a three strikes system. Usually I'll heal toxic players through encounters just so we can finish shit quickly but if they're constantly taking dirt naps even with my help then eventually I'll prioritize my MP over them.

What's really weird is whenever I'm playing healer I'm like really super self-conscious about how the rest of the party's doing so I cure everything I sit there and I see okay my teammates are poisoned cure cure cure cure cure cure cure

I had a samurai in my party today that asked "Esuna?" After he died to the first trash pull in Dohn Mheg. Wish I had that witty comeback in my pocket at the time.

I'm a generally pretty chill healer. But if you stand in one too many AOEs after I ask you to move (black mage not in your fucking circle) I will pull you in front of a tankbuster cleave and kill both of us.

@@metal3978 Sphene is a yellow gemstone, it's literally in the game (though raw sphene looks like a regular rock, you have to craft it with goldsmith). I thought it said "sphere" to be honest lol!
Healer is a lot like clerics. Damage dealers, who heal.
Yeah, like dnd clerics. Healing is a thing they can do, but they have a lot of other options as well.

you know sage is kinda unique here as sage doesn't want to let the tank get too low unless all the enemies are almost dead, since sage lacks the tools to burst heal much. However sage toolkit is designed for heavy mititgation WHILE dealing damage that also heals the tank as you deal damage. making it the one healer all about KEEPING tank high HP WHILE dpsing, as one and the same.
Sage has the highest pot aoe and you trash those mobs pull
Why I main healer: to collect those sweet sweet commendations.
I play as a DPS and twice i have gotten commendations from the entire party first time was a light party second a full party and i was shocked seeing i got it from everyone playing as a DPS specially the second time
The tank is the star of the party, the healer is the stage manager.

As a stage manager for dance theatre surrounded by divas, I have never understood my instant draw to healer classes more than I do now.
And the red mage is the God when the healers items break halfway through the boss fight. I will remember to repair after every fight from now on.

0:18 man I don't know if that part aged really well or really bad with Endwalker
The worst aged part is sadly the "you will never run out of mana unless you're bad". At least as of current patch, WHM, even when played optimally, is now MP-negative, so in longer raids you just get to watch your MP average very slowly drop off the face of the earth.
In my head canon this is where they got the idea.

@@Bismarck9871 Thin Air was changed from a duration to a charge. This means that over a long fight (savages), a WHM will eventually run out of mana if they are trying to maintain as close to 100% uptime as possible.
@@Bismarck9871 from my friend, Thin Air used to be a skill that let you consume no MP for a duration
but now it's nerfed to 2 charges skill, each charge allows your next spell consume no MP
if you play normal contents, it's fine, your mp will be good, but even in normal raids, i can see the level my MP hovers at gradually gets lower and lower, and that's even when i use Lucid Dream constantly
I'd like to thank Jocat for keeping me alive so I could get that 16 Vuln Stack collection. It was hard work but it paid off.

For those curious, the run was 90% shenanigans and the other healer dared me to do it on the last boss. I, laughing too hard to see all my mitigation from previous nonsense, still said 'You're on.'

You forgot being "rescued" into a hole or an AoE. On an unrelated note, it's VERY satisfying to pull off a successful Rescue.
As a healer, I can confirm many accuracies you mentioned.

So many people refuse to believe this is remotely how a healer is. Every bit of this video is so perfect. Only thing I personally point people do on top of everything you pointed out is play a dps first and pay attention to the fights when possible.
Everyone says that healers are subs, forgetting that they are the biggest doms of all, choosing who lives and dies.
Tanks are the biggest subs, they get hit and slapped and only exist to get hurt and then beg/hope they get healed.

Healers are service doms. They will care for you and make sure you are healthy, but they can absolutely dish out a beating, and if you make them mad, they will make you suffer for it.

Yeah, I had a tank the other day that I was struggling hard to keep alive. Every time my cure2 had a free cast I threw it on him otherwise he was determined to slowly bleed HP through my heals... and obviously he had to draw multiple mobs because... efficiency?
@@KMCA779 You need to ignore Cure 1 if you have Cure 2 unlocked. Freecure procs are a noob trap. Just use Cure 2 only instead.

@@ReinTenebres I'd rather the paladin use hallowed ground instead. That way they still do dmg instead of wasting time healing themselves making the pull longer.
@@Lillith-uj7tt Honestly you only use either during normal mob pulls if the healer is really shitty and/or dead. The latter one tends to happen when the heal is impatient and doesn't care about sprout tags, so runs ahead to pull more, only to die as a result.
If you however HAVE to, I'll use clemency any day. Hallowed ground is for "Oh shit" moments and waiting for it's cooldown is a pain.
I like to think of Clemency less as healing and more as mitigation... that can used on other people. I don't use it often, but I do occasionally if I think I'm being a burden on the healer. Because I'm nice. And a big boy who can look after himself for a minute if the DPS is doing big derps instead of deeps.

I legit just started this game as a healer yesterday. This has actually helped so much
Counterpoint: If your tank spends most of the first pull hovering around the lower edge of the life bar they aren't going to think "Hey, this healer really knows what they're doing. I can speed this up." They're going to think "Oh wow, this is a shit healer. I better do single pulls for the rest of the dungeon."
Depends on the healer:
If the healer is consistent at doing this, I don't mind pulling a bit more safely.
Rather that than a healer who ONLY casts Cure.
If you wanna make a good personal benchmark; Make it that you never would have wasted healing. Ex. If you heal for half their max hp, only heal when they're BELOW half HP.
Meanwhile, as I play WAR, eyes always on Equilibrium, Thrill of Battle, and Raw Intuition/Bloodwhetting... 👀
I've learned now to basically only even touch a heal button if a party member is below %15 or of there's a big raidwide or tankbuster coming.

Yeah between all the insults jokes and posing there is some very useful info especially for noobs. I never really got into MMOs, and i never play tanks but i gave it a go in FF14 and he is right. At least now i know why i have so many defense skills that seem to do the same thing and why i have to stagger them :)).
I used to just spam all the defense skills at once for the mini and main bosses before that video, because my thought process was that most defence at one time was a good idea, now I space them out

If the tank isn't clenching their rectal muscles every pull, what are you even doing with your life? It's also good training for the handful of real fights in the game, where the damage is completely predictable and people only get topped off immediately when the mechanics require it.

I have just played ff14 a few months ago and for the first time I experienced a good healer. They knew I can handle myself with WAR's healing and they just dps. It really made the clear so much faster. Thank you awsome healer from Kujata!

Look, the stuff I want to stun has a cast time of "oops, done now" and if it isn't the boss is immune to interupts and if it's not a boss, then punching the monster will stop the skill form going off twice instead of once.

@@julien9901 The difference is that WOW healers actually have enough fuckin healing to do that adding damage to the rotation is problematic. FF14's encounter design is to blame for how much DPS healers do.
@@julien9901 I got into an argument with someone about it a while ago. Apparently they believe over the course of a dungeon, they, a white Mage, will only save about 30 seconds per run if they dps’d.

You forgot that in an 8 person party, with a white mage and an astrogolian/scholar, we should not be the main tank healer!! 🤦♀️I cannot tell you how often I end up becoming both the total party healer and the main healer with my astro......
As a healer main since Realm Reborn, I say thank you for making this xD When I see other healers just doing only that and not DPSing (or when I'm playing an off class) it grates my nerves. Now, I can just send them this video! :D

Ok, I've played WoW it's full 16 years. Been a Resto Druid that whoooole time. I started FFXIV roughly a year ago, and I pretty much main WHM and AST. This video made me laugh so hard, that my Mom poked her head in my room to ask me if I was alright and or if I needed oxygen cause I was laughing so hard at one point that the only sound I was making, was a high-pitch squeaky that I'm sure made the neighborhood dogs nuts. Thanks for this absolute gem!
