Black Kurama Her name is Janet Mock, she’s been interviewed by plenty of other straight men that took time to do research. Conducting an interview without doing any type of prior research is the definition of lazy and shortsighted.

Shout out to the breakfast club for this interview. Although there are people who just don't care to understand, but oh well. Life will go on, as it should.

James Tyrell we will never have unity because black ppl find ways to not like other black people. For one gangs will not unify then religious blacks wont accept certain ppl then just because you may be a darker shade light skinned blacks might not accept you. Its always something and its terrible but its reality.

Miss Mock handled this interview with such grace. Even when Envy and Charlemagne asked her very coarse questions regarding her physical surgeries and referred to her past episode of stripping as her being a man in a bikini on a stripping pole, she still played the game and smiled. This is why she is a champion for transgender rights. Her intelligence is astounding, and I love that she was able to educate without preaching.

After watching Bernice Burgos and even Joseline's interview I can appreciate Janet Mock for actually standing for something. The women who are hating on her are more than likely jealous because she is a beautiful and intelligent trans woman who represents femininity better than most and they're just intimidated by her so the use the "but she used to be a boy" card to diminish her worth.
Straight men or men (who are attracted to women) can not say that they wouldn't be sexually attracted to her if it was not for the fact that she used to be a boy. Janet embodies all the physical characteristics that men generally find attractive in women. So their real issue is not that they wouldn't want to get with her, its that admitting it or thinking it challenges their masculinity and everyone knows that's a man's greatest fear is to have his masculinity challenged. Therefore, that says more about them than it does about Janet!

Rey S. that _don't judge me_ isn't Biblical, it's from a Tupac album. When you see your people going off, you're supposed to say something. A man who throws away his manhood at a time when the Black community needs Black men to be men the most is not a hero or a good example.

@@brightflamee okay but I'm not in the video, so we're not talking about me,. Everyone in the video was born the way they are (if you're talking about gender). If you're talking about literally anything else, people grow and change. Adults aren't babies because they were born that way. I don't understand why you think people don't change from the way they were born. Also, if you're talking about genetics, then mutations can happen and spread too. DNA isn't always the same as what presents on the outside. DNA can be different in different parts of the body. Are you the same as you were as a baby? I guess I'm trans-height since I decided to change my height. I was obviously not born this tall, so I should have remained baby height forever.

Here's a crazy idea.Different people find happiness in different ways. Why not let people be whatever they want to be? Only time you should have any legitimate grievance is if you slept with some transgender person and they didn't tell you they were transgender. i'm 100% for transparency up front. But other than that, why get so worked up about how other people want to live their lives if they haven't caused you any harm? Life is too short to hold so much hate & vitriol.Maybe live and let live.

Do you think after watching this video you're gonna say "i like men now"? You should raise your children however you want to raise. That's your prerogative my man. But i really don't think people just wake up and change their sexual preference after seeing a couple gay people on TV.

This was by far THEE BEST THEE BEST interview I've ever heard on Transgender people...Janet Mock was very eloquently candid and did not hesitate to answer any and all questions. she made me want to hear her story understand her experience. one of the most important things ppl can do when advocating their story is have the proper mannerism. no one is receptive to anger, hate, ignorance and impatience. Janet was the total opposite of that and what we mostly see Transgender ppl being represented as. although this is my 1st time ever hearing of her, I can almost tell her mannerism on this show is also how she conducts herself thru out her life. I can respect her work and activism. I luv the fact that she is true to herself and Lives her truth. she also accepts responsibilty for her life and choices and ALLOWS ppl that she has been with intimately aware of her journey. I can now appreciate looking at Trans ppl from their perspective. she answered ALOT of questions for me. I may NEVER agree but at least now I understand the why and how and the differences. each one teach one....Thank you!!!

Just because you don't understand something doesn't mean it's not real. Therein lies fear of what is not understood. How whites fear blacks, how straight people fear gays and how gender identity being totally misunderstood - strikes fear in the hearts of men. I am open to learning about something I do not understand but I don't fear it. Some of these remarks are made out of pure fear because you don't understand it. Language evolves 'transgender' is merely a label. She is clearly educated. Gender identity is the issue.

Gender just isn’t simple, and no amount of fear or anger will make it so. Janet is a beautiful person, who speaks intelligently and compassionately about her own life and the life of others. Share the grace and compassion. If you, like me, are a heterosexual who identifies with the gender that was apparent at your birth, that is fine. But, no one needs to tear down someone else to live their own truth.
