So Lust showing her stone wasn't revealing a weak spot or anything. Also, fun note I learned recently myself. Lust was half an inch away from killing Mustang for real. That nail would have pierced his brain and ended him. But just then she ran out of juice. Who was the first person to harm Lust in the series, with a throwing knife to that very same spot on _her_ head?
Note that I think that damaging the stone, much like damaging the body, *does* cost energy for the reform process. So in theory you probably could kill them if you broke the stone *repeatedly*.

Tbf in the manga especially that's *supposed* to be your reaction. The show cut down the tension between him and Ed in early arcs and makes him come across more heroic from the get go.
Mustang was playing a perfect nazi officer as part of his plan. Of course he seemed shady, he was putting a lot of effort into making himself seem like one of the bad guys.
Gotta love the fact that Mustang seemed so powerful and damn near invincible when he came back to end Lust, but then as soon as she's dead he just collapses. He kept his shit together for exactly as long as he needed to, and not a second more
I'd say that both hating and pitying the homunculi (or both at the same time) are perfectly reasonable reactions given what we know of them at this time. Of course, though, _some_ of them are easier to hate than to pity, or the other way 'round...
You can see how Hawkeye gets the dog in the episode "Fullmetal vs Flame" from the 2003 version. (It's not in brotherhood). It's a duel between Ed and Roy, also the most hilarious episode in all of FMA!

This episode is the first taste of the greatness that's coming. Glad you really got into it. Also love that you're picking up on so many details. They're all important. As an example, the writer for the manga this show is based on said that she intentionally made Havoc a smoker for the sole purpose of giving Mustang access to a lighter during his encounter with Lust. Cause after Lust stabbed Mustang and torn up his ignition gloves there would've been no other way for Mustang to use his Alchemy to stop his bleeding and kill Lust.
To me it looks like when Barry's original body destroyed the seal his soul was released from the armour, at which point, being that close to the body, it went back into it (probably replacing the animal soul artificially placed there, which, after all, didn't belong, even if it was the only thing keeping it alive)... where it immediately died due to the decaying state of the body.
The body, soul, and mind are all connected. The mind tethers the soul and body. Since they are connected, when the soul, or in this case, the seal binding the soul to the mortal plane is no more the body follows suit.
About why pulling Lust's stone out didn't kill her, it's because Lust is the stone, they aren't two separate things. The stone will just generate a new body if it loses the old one. Also allows for healing. To kill Lust, you have to destroy the stone. As shown here though, there is a limit to how much energy the stone has, which is likely tied to how many souls were used to create it.
This is also evident in that any part of their body that's severed disintegrates (including their entire body if separated from stone) and the fact that she continues to speak even when she's reduced to nothing but a stone in her final moments

The images on Ed's and Al's doors, in this case, are just a cool visual element and they don't carry any deeper connection(again, in this case); although it could be argued that it represents a connection to the divine. But since the symbol on the door is different for every person that crosses it, and Ed's gate is the only one with a Kabbala, it can also be argued that it's not important what image the gate has, just that having a different image means that each person has their own gate of truth

When Greed is taken by Father, Father says something along the lines of "you are my avarice", so when Lust was created, she was his lust, and he no longer has that emotion (or character flaw, you might say) and when Lust dies, Father doesn't get that emotion back, so Lust cannot be re-created.
The thing about Riza calling Roy an idiot for coming to save her is very simple: Riza Does Not Care about her own life. She’s completely comfortable dying if it means protecting him, and would gladly give up her life for his goal. She is borderline suicidal at this point, and it gets worse as the show progresses. Hell, it gets worse as this particular episode progresses. She wants him to stay safe and not put himself at risk, no matter what happens to her.

The latter likely refers to Jesus Christ, as Christ was known in some circles as the Mediator. Remember, everything regarding alchemy in this show is based upon real, actual alchemical research from the greats like Paracelsus. Arakawa did insane amounts of research on the subject before penning this story.
i know you are like 10 episodes ahead by now but i just wanted to explain that what Al is worried about isn't his armor rusting but rather that his soul may eventually be rejected from it :) so if a soul is incompatible with a body and the bonding gets rejected, the very same thing could happen to Al with his armor and then he'd essentially just be dead cuz his soul wouldn't be connected to anything
Like was said earlier, Roy and Lust's VAs are married IRL. I'm always so surprised whenever I find out that certain characters are voiced by Travis Willingham, his range and ability to change the way his voice for many of the roles he plays is so impressive; it sounds so far from what he normally sounds like. Laura Bailey on the other hand I can always can pick out when I hear her characters, not to say she's any less talented she's amazing as well.

Think about Edward and Alphonse's lessons when Izumi left them on that island, with the rabbits and the foxes and the insects, and ask yourself: SHOULD we hate the homunculi? Are they really any worse than ourselves?
So Barry's soul went back into his body, but his body was barely alive, it was mostly decayed and dying, Barry probably died due to shock after getting inside his body and suddenly feeling all the pain from the decayed parts

This was such a fun reaction to watch. Seeing you get so hyped over Roy, distraught over Havoc and Hawkeye, and intrigued by the new revelations was a blast. In regards to how long Barry has been in the armor, to the best of my knowledge we do not know how long Barry was in the armor. It was relatively recently, but it may have been a couple years, or a couple months. When Barry's body broke the seal on Barry's armor Barry's soul went back to his own body, but it then it died from the wounds he gave it. Even if it did not die right away, barry has not felt anything for months or years, and then got into a body that was sliced to ribbons, He must have collapsed from the pain, and died shortly there after. (In my opinion.) Also, it is hard to disagree with liking Roy after this arc. One thing to remember though is that those same flames were used against the Ishvalans in the civil war. As always, your questions will be answered in time, but some take some time before they are answered. That being said, don't stop asking them, as it gives us a good insight into what you are thinking about.
Some of the real symbolism in (the big stone behind ED in the portal of Truth) is Tree of Life mysticism or Kabbalah, although other religious or spiritual groups adopt aspects of it.
