      @@erurevir I'm not 100% sure because I've only been to Nassau. But yeah the houses there would easily be destroyed by this storm. I assume it's like most of the Caribbean islands, there are some really wealthy neighborhoods but also a lot of poorer areas.

    Sending this here incase you dont read reddit:
    Stilt homes like yours survived Katrina’s saltwater inundation here in Mississippi, only to collapse later due to corrosion of metal fasteners used to join floor joists to treated-wood pilings or even concrete pilings. You will have more immediate problems to deal with in the coming days and weeks, but tend to any kind of metal fasteners beneath your home exposed to saltwater - sooner than later.

    This video is from the perspective of the most privileged of the Island. I can only imagine how the average person on the island is dealing with this storm. I can imagine it's frightening, dark, wet and noisy for most people.

      @@liveoak144 you are so right! When I saw the disaster that was surrounding this family while he was filming, I also called on the name of Jesus! I have seen news of many disastrous hurricanes but I have never seen anything like that! It's terrifying to see video I can't even imagine being surrounded by the ocean like that and houses around you literally consumed by the ocean...we have already prayed in the name of Jesus that this storm calms and lives are spared.

      He said the house is on stilts (likely concrete piers), so there would be no resistance to flow and therefore no buildup of pressure.

      After Sandy hit NJ/NY I went out to Long Beach Island NJ. There were houses on the beach that had pilings. Several houses had been picked up off of the piling foundation and dropped back down several feet over due to flooding.

    People, imagine the guy's house under that situation for 24 hours. Most of the houses aren't going to support those wind forces and flooding, at the same time, for so long. He didn't say it but this video is a kind of SOS. Let's pray for them.

    He is very confident in his builder. Maybe the worst wind velocity had passed by this point. With 180+mph winds I'd want a plan B in case the builder took a shortcut somehow.

    this is the most horrifying vision I've seen in ages.. Been in a half dozen or cyclones here in Australia and that Freaking screaming, howling wind gives me chills every time.. when you hear the roof nails being dragged out like fingernails on a blackboard you know your gonna have damages.. this home owner has a deliberately built strong residence but even then the water damage will be immense.

    You might not believe me , but the person who recorded this is my neighbour. Technically not but actually is. I'm in the yellow house with pink ceiling. Well it was... MY house was underwater, MY house got destroyed and a boat is in our front yard and a dead crab also. We are continuing to work on it.

    Looks like 110mph winds, nasty nasty. Your a decent distance from Dorian. Its 24 miles to your NE. Unfortunately its stationary and not moving away from bahamas. Storm surge behind Dorian is 18ft to 23ft. Good news is Dorian is weakening. Currently 125mph constant winds, pressure is rising and was just downgraded to a cat3. Still absolutely terrible at cat3 with that surge, but at least it's some good news for you. I've only been thru a cat3, and that was no fun at all. Don't want to experience a cat4 or 5 ever.

    I wouldn't stay there for any reason. All it takes is one boat to break free and hit their house...not to mention all the other projectiles. Good luck, I hope you and your neighbors are safe. I'm will help the area in some way. I hope to get down there with supplies soon.

      We moved from pine bay two years ago, back to the uk, I can get it on Google ok, I think that was Dave Mackys house, we could see them from our house, which I guess is underwater now, we weren't up high, thinking of you all Den & Margie

      If I lived where he is, I would most definitely leave. He has got to be extremely close to the ocean. It just seems like common sence to leave, live and then come back and see how the house held up! Especially when you can afford to do just that!
