    Please stop trolling these Dorian reports. Local people and families in other countries will be watching hoping for a glimpse of loved ones. Pls think about others before you leave unkind comments. Think how you would feel, your mother, father, sister or brother would feel reading your comments if they hear that everything is gone, people are on rooftops and the water is still rising. Please, our families are on 4 islands, 2 the news isn't even talking about. Be kind and thoughtful. All I'm asking, begging you for is common human decency, please.

      Kimberly and the news reporter are in two different emotional worlds. The news reporter asked a question about her house and noticed she started crying and did the best she could to deter the conversation, but Kimberly did say "what others are going through" . She's experiencing something that the news reporter didn't fully empathize with. She thinks focusing on others brings comfort, but this is not a situation where that would be true. But either way, it didn't seem to affect Kimberly the least bit and it did prevent her from crying which was the news reporters goal. News is unemotional but I'm watching this to see her natural reaction because this is so tragic.

    It's so sad.. She was getting choked up even thinking of talking about what the other people are going through and the anchorperson says "let's try to talk about what other people are going through and not your house" . I was almost as dumbfounded as that poor woman!
    God bless you all down there and I pray you can find your families

    • @SwobyJ
      @SwobyJ 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      She said that because she could tell that if the woman was going to go on about her own situation she'd just end up bawling on air. She was trying to spare her that and 'distract' her by getting her mind busier with various ideas of what others are up to (which is still distressing but not on as much of a personal visceral level). Reporter is just trying to encourage sympathy and support for the region without stepping on too many nerves.

    • @monicag6993
      @monicag6993 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SwobyJ oh, it seemed to me that she was getting upset when she started talking about the other people. She wasnt getting emotional about her roof. She was getting emotional about others and it seemed like the reporter had it backwards and said "well, let's talk about what other people and not your roof" (not verbatim) and that's when the woman looked confused. That's just how it came across to me.. Anyway, the whole situation is just sad and it was probably a really hard interview for both of them and definitely hard and sad to watch

We can give billions to India and Pakistan but our neighbors are left to fend for themselves. No we can do a lot more. They dont need Prayers! They need cargo ships with relief supplies and volunteers to help them. They need it now, not 4 months from now.

You are the one that has a problem. Not me. I was merely complimenting another obviously very successful, beautiful, intelligent & strong woman in her time of desperation and need in order to be uplifting and positive. Please get your own racism in check as I assure you that you know absolutely nothing about me or my life but I can assure you that you couldn’t be further from the truth when you accuse me of making a racially motivated comment.

    " talk about other folks"... I know this is what you call a selfless individual that's what upsets her more than talking about herself don't you get that?

    • @SwobyJ
      @SwobyJ 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      She didn't get that, but I don't think she was aiming to hurt her. Usually (not always) when one is distressed about themselves, its smart to try to get them on a different topic for a minute, if they're willing to. Its a cooldown. But yes, in this case, with someone who is also experiencing distress through empathy for others, it wasn't the best decision to shift focus to other people.

    Is it me misunderstanding, but the reporter asked her how she feels what is going on around her, and then she said she might cry talking about it. The reporter says to forget about what’s around her “personally,” and to tell how she thinks other people are feeling? WTF do you think? Same thing obviously, and still upset her. Painful interview. Seemed so unsympathetic. 🥺

    • @SwobyJ
      @SwobyJ 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Late reply, but she's asking about how she feels *out of* a sign of sympathy, that she cares about how she feels. The reporter then tells her to forget about what's around her personally because she could tell that there's actually too much distress happening right now and she does *not* want someone breaking down on air due to her words. CBC is just trying to get support for this region being hit; its a far cry from ambulance chasing. I think a lot of people are mistaking basic compassion for a lack of sympathy and I really don't get it.

The internet is a wired connection and if it’s anything like Miami then most of our wiring is run underground instead of poles because of storms. So as long as the building providing internet has power and the person using it has power she could do this.

    "How do you feel?" The reporter asks over and over again after saying stuff like "Your Prime Minister says...you are defenseless" blah blah blah. Compassion?! This commentator is not afraid to make this person cry for a good juicy, gory story. And the more traumatic, the better. This kind of reporting is not comforting, it is ambulance chasing at its best for ratings. Disgusted.

      Have you been in total distress? Typically when one is, its actually uplifting to have someone take the time exclusively for you to be able to (whether you'll want to or not) explain how you're feeling. Especially when Kimberly is probably racing with concerns for her practical situation and others' worse situations, its a *good* thing to settle it down and just enjoy someone taking a minute to care about how you feel.

      Kimberly Mullings yes my husband makes these kind of windows in Florida. PGT hurricane windows, Venice Florida. Look them up. Not even a huge man the size of king Kong’s arms bashing the glass over and over with a sledge hammer can break these windows. Many times you will see a home destroyed by a hurricane and the only thing still standing are the windows. I wish we could make homes like this and can make 100% safe. These are the same kind of windows that is placed in the huge fishing ships when you see an entire wall of water coming in and at the boat. Kimberly we’re praying by for you and your family and all of the islands down that way. We will be sending any and all help and aide when we can and we’re clear to come and help.
