I was inspired by your videos of Warren and Wendy. We have Bertie and Belinda who took up residence in our new nest box and laid eggs which hatched into chicks. All was going well until about a week ago, but I think the random patch of much warmer weather quickly followed by much colder and wetter weather stopped the parents coming to the nest. Sadly, on inspection we were left with at least 4 dead fledglings :-(. Now we've cleared the nest and hoping for better luck next year.
I just discovered I have chicks in one of my boxes, I only found out because I heard the little peeps. I had to sit for 10 minutes to see an adult blue tit taking food in. I don't know if it's the male or female, or both, but they've been in and out all day. I watched for hours. So, I've come looking for videos to find out about them and I'm very glad to have found your channel. I've learned so much in the past hour 😂 Oooh also, I like the names Toby & Tulip 😊
Hi. My Blue Tits laid 11 eggs, all 11 have hatched. We are at day 9 for the eldest. All 11 are still alive. I can sent photos and videos. My question is one large bird has wriggled his way out of nest and is on the side, he is being ignored, his eyes are open. Will he be fed or seen as a stranger?
We have blue tits nesting next to our back door and are at approx 16 days old now. But we also have a very active family of magpies with 3 young birds that love our bird bath. I’m so worried for the blue tit fledgelings 😖
Hello Fiona, Thanks so much for sharing your amazing footage it reminds us how incredible nature really is. We have a very basic set up and record hard wired on to an old HDD/DVD recorder with mixed results. We have some very nervous Blue tits that are very camera shy and love nothing more that pecking the camera till it goes out of focus😢 Would you share any of your knowledge as to set up and best practice, camera type recording etc. PS I quite understand if you would rather not. Kind regards Steve
have you thought about buying them some mealworms and soaked in water? and ,since you mention it ,do tits feed their chicks with suet pellets? i dont have bird home but i feed tits . i have 3 feeders. i have dried mealworms, suet pellets and sunflower seeds. tits really like those suet pellets tho. i wonder if they feed chicks with them too? they like nuts too,but i stopped giving them nuts, cus people say ,nuts can choke small chicks.
Absolutely love you content, I have both great tits and blue tits In my bird box, the great tits fledged this morning :( the blue tits eggs are due to hatch on Wednesday she has 9 little eggs, the great tit lost 2 baby’s she laid 10 eggs and only 8 survived and fledged this morning, just wondering what camera do you use it’s so clear and much clearer than mine, I use a green feather camera and it’s not the best. Hope your baby’s come along well and all healthy, hoping you can answer my question thank you. My blue tit eggs aren’t red spotted there just plain white, the great tits were red spotted does that mean anything? .
Fionn I have two blue tits now flying in and out of my nest box - looks like with food - what stage would this mean especially at this time of year? Would chicks have hatched?
Gertie and Bertie - kind of regal and has a cute rhyme scheme?
I like the names Tilly and Thyme .
I’m really enjoying these video’s, thank you!
