When blocking under the trailer dollies you should place the blocking lengthwise with the trailer. That way if you back under and the trailer has sunk a little, you won't push it off the blocks with the semi tractor. Been there, done that, and it's not fun trying to crank the trailer up high enough to get the tractor under it.

Those yankum ropes are intended to have a lot of slack in them while you get up to speed and give one big TUG. They stretch and don't make a jolt like a chain would.
You need to watch some Matt's off-road recovery videos to see what those yankum ropes can really do. After seeing what he can pull out with an XJ Jeep your ranger would have been able to pull your truck out with no problem. Back up about 10 to 15 ft and give her the juice. Let the kinetic energy of the rope do the work.
It would be interesting seeing the dogs faces as the rope pulls the Ranger backwards. I admit to laughing seeing a Ranger hooked to a semi. Even with two dogs in for weight. It was a joke.

Hey Zack, I think the Polaris would have pulled the truck out if you had used the rope as intended. It is a kinetic rope so with slack in the rope go hard and let the rope stretch. You will get added force in the rope. Watch Matt's Off road recovery channel and you will see how a small light jeep can pull heavy loads.

Cage the brake that sticks on the sprayer trailer when you park it at the end of the season so it doesn't stick. Make sure to chock the tires, and to uncage it before you take it on the road. There should be a Caging Bolt with a T head on the side of each parking brake pod. The T head goes into the hole in the center of the brake can (pop the rubber plug out), and then you turn it a quarter turn at the bottom of the hole to lock it in. You don't need to tighten the nut, just insert it with the trailer brakes released, and turn the nut down so it's barely touching, and when you apply the brakes it will keep the spring from putting pressure on the brakes. Install the cage bolts on whichever brakes stick every year in the shop, and then park the trailer, and in the spring take it back to the shop to remove the bolt, so no crawling in the mud! As long as you aren't parked on a slope, having one or two wheels with no parking brake is not a problem, especially if you throw some chocks behind the tire to remind you to un cage them in the spring! Lol
when they where working on the trailer brakes i was menatally yelling "just cage the brakes and move it off the grass" but the only reason i even know its a thing is i watch truckin channels to 😁
@@thedragonhunter in this video, caging the brakes wouldn't have helped though. The spring brakes were releasing, and the slack adjusters and thus cams were moving, so it was the brake pads basically corroded onto the drum that was locking the wheels. Caging the brakes just compresses the parking brake spring, and does the same thing the air does, it doesn't force the pads off the drum, only the return spring does that. So yes, when the brake pads are frozen to the drum like that, hammers and pry bars are the only way to break it loose, they were doing everything correctly (diesel/industrial mechanic and heavy haul driver here, with plenty of experience with these things! Lol) The suggestion of caging the brakes was to prevent them from getting corroded to the drum over the winter, by simply keeping them from touching the drum after it was parked.
@@davecramer9725 once the brake shoes are rusted to the drum, caging the brake chamber has no effect. The cam that applies the pressure to the shoes backs off, but it doesn't pull the shoes away from the drum. The only thing pulling the shoes away from the drum is the small return spring, which is no match for the corrosion. My suggestion is to cage the brakes before parking it over the winter so they don't corrode onto the drum, but that's the only scenario where caging the brakes would help in this situation, because applying air pressure to release the spring brakes does exactly the same thing as caging the brakes, and that part was working properly in this video.
Zach have you tried the high productivity sweeps (Dad calls them shovels) that Deere sells? We've been really happy with them, they last longer and do a better job I think. They are wider than the standards you are running.

It seems like as technology progresses with machines and computers, it's like your job is getting harder.
Lol)
The suggestion of caging the brakes was to prevent them from getting corroded to the drum over the winter, by simply keeping them from touching the drum after it was parked.
If it was caged the brakes would not have been touching the brake drum
Jim was comfortable under that trailer he wasn't going to move until you mentioned it, he wasn't worried.🤠
Q: How many millenials does it take to mount dualies on a sprayer?
A: Just one, if he has two boomers for backup.
Buying a Yankum Rope is good insurance. Once you have it the tractors don't get stuck.
I´m from argentina and we call them "pie de pato" the traduction in englich would be "duck feet"
Another fun filled day out at the farm.
You cant start a video without them fighting its a trend now😂
Those were some nice shots coming out of the shop
Why didn't you use the fork lift on the tires, Larson farms did it with their fork lift using the skid steer.
This....
Zach you blew it.........You should have made Jim shuffle left to right right to left with the Hammer....would have been CLASSIC!!!!!!
Zach have you tried the high productivity sweeps (Dad calls them shovels) that Deere sells? We've been really happy with them, they last longer and do a better job I think. They are wider than the standards you are running.
Yeah we tried them and actually thought they wore out faster. We're currently running a mixture lol
Absolutely love watching your videos each week I've been watching for almost a year now after TH-cam did and promoted your channel and have been following you ever since really appreciate everything you do been keeping you in my prayers over the last month after the storms keep up the great work Zach and Becky and hope you all have a wonderful safe weekend ❤️❤️

It seems like as technology progresses with machines and computers, it's like your job is getting harder. I understand that planting is already a hard job to do and with the equipment now you can plant much more in a day than how it used to be, but, if you didn't have to deal with the headaches of malfunctions daily it would be so much better. Farmers are so under-appreciated for the job they do, but it is people like you that keep this country fed. Thank you for all your time devoted in what you do for us!
Starting too figure put when you dad says something he never usually say do this but makes suggestions then you have too pick up on what he really wants.. What a nice guy i could work for him 40 years
I wouldn't have the patience for that planter. Feel the pain and aggravation jumping through the screen. Glad you have Jim and dad to help vent if not fix.
