    Excellent video! I searched for something specific to aileron/rudder mixing on a TX16S and yours is by far the best. Great idea with the slider! Completely unintuitive (at least for me) regarding adding the mix to the Rudder line vs. the Aileron - appreciate you pointing that out. Keep up the great work!

    I looked on many of your tutor videos on TX16S and I must say that your videos are the best among all of TX16s tuorials that I have ever seen - and Ive seen a lot. Really simple, clear, understandable even when functions are getting complex etc. I also appreciate that you talk clear and slow so I can easily understand you without shifting back on and on - considering English is not my mothertangue. Really great, great work.

    Great and easy to follow explanation. Radiomaster should consider you as their voice in here. When I sent them an email, the reply was just so dumb and I felt they just don't care about plane guys using their equipment.
    John, try this mix on your MX2: elevators up and ailerons down and vice-versa. It is an amazing mix for 3D flight

    Thanks, great explanation! I fly large scale sailplanes, usually aerotowed. The mantra is, uncoupled aileron and rudder, (i.e. unmixed), during tow. Then, after releasing from the tow plane, many guys like to couple aileron and rudder for thermal flying, as when your sailplane is at 1000' or (much) higher, it makes thermal turns more casual. Not necessarily more efficient, but easier to execute. Personally I fly unmixed, but this concept of a sliding mix has my attention! Plus it clarifies the use of the GV. Much appreciated.

      Thanks, glad the videos are helping you. I didn't do a video on dual elevator setup, but it's very easy. Create an Elevator Input just like normal. In your Mixer create Elevator 1 on Channel 2, and Elevator 2 on Channel 5 (or 6 or 10 or whatever) and use the Elevator Input as the source. If one of them goes the wrong way, invert the weight. Very easy.

    Not all mixes are equal! Although some may use them to "cheat" (meaning to not learn how to properly stick-and-rudder fly) I like to use them to optimize aircraft control settings. For example, I am trying to use your video to optimize my Versa Wing elevons with the perfect amount of differential, so that I am getting the least amount of adverse yaw wobble without unnecessarily sacrificing control rate. I'm trying to set it up to change differential on the fly with my slider. Struggling with how to make this work but slowly making progress. Any specific tips would be appreciated! Thanks for the great video with the very good explanations. It worked that way straight away.
    I wanted to convert the process to program a slight downward rudder admixture at half throttle to full throttle. But I don't know which parameter I have to change so that the down elevator correction only moves from half-throttle to full-throttle. At the same time, I always get a correction for the gas path -100% to +/- 0%. Do you know advice?

    • @RCVideoReviews
      @RCVideoReviews  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The mix line adjusts the thing that NEEDS TO BE adjusted with the thing that DOES THE ADJUSTMENT. So add a throttle entry to the control surface you want to modify. You can apply a curve or offset/weight combo to the mix line to limit travel. I do this same thing with gain switches all the time.

    One question. If using quad, roll introduces tilt. So yaw will go downward. Do I need to compensate by adding up throttle?

    • @RCVideoReviews
      @RCVideoReviews  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you're using acro mode, the flight controller will do a pretty good job keeping the other axis locked unless you command movement. That said, yes, just about any time you change the pitch or roll on a quad you need more throttle to maintain altitude.

    Hey great videos!! I'm not sure if you covered this in a video already but here we go... is there any way a person can increase control throw past 100%? I'm setting up a 120cc cc 3D airplane and I can't get enough control throws the servos won't move far enough I have them set at maximum 100% but with my other radios Spectrum I could crank them up to 150% to get more Servo travel is there any way you can do it with a tx16s? If you already covered this in a video could you send the link? :-)

    • @RCVideoReviews
      @RCVideoReviews  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Spektrum only uses 80% of travel by default. OpenTx uses the full pulse width. OTX goes from 988 to 2012. Servos allegedly have mechanical protections to protect them from being overdriven, but I know I have personally seen a servo go bad when driving it beyond 100% with OTX. So I don't make a habit of it. If you need more throw you may have to adjust your linkage arrangement. Closer to the pivot on the controlled surface and father from the servo screw gives the max throw but at the cost of torque and resolution.

    • @billneudorf91
      @billneudorf91 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RCVideoReviews thanx for the snappy fast reply! Yeah I was hoping I wouldn't have to adjust the linkages but I guess that's what I will have to do but with my Spectrum remote I didn't have to do that but I guess with a tx 16 I will just have to adjust the linkages to get more throw, thanx again:)

    • @RCVideoReviews

      @@billneudorf91 Spektrum at 125% and TX16 @ 100% should yield the same physical movement. Spektrum @ 100% only uses 80% pulse width. There are specific setup instructions in the multi-protocol module firmware explaining this.

      It's generally a better idea to learn to fly the plane correctly first. Use mixes when you know how to fly the plane and you just feel like being lazy. It will pay off when you find yourself in some unusual attitude and you need to use all of the controls to recover.

      I'm sure you can safely use the radio the way it came out of the box. Firmware updates are not required. I'll think about how to answer this question in video format. In the meanwhile, if you go download OpenTx Companion, create a radio profile, and download new firmware, it is relatively easy to flash. Press Aileron and Rudder trim switches T1 and T4 INBOARD simultaneously, turn the radio on, wait for the screen that says "OpenTx Bootloader" select write firmware, connect USB-C to computer, use Companiion to Write Firmware to radio. You'll also want to make sure you download the SD Card Contents and update the radio SD card.
      That's the short of it and should get you going in the right direction.

      @@RCVideoReviews your instructions is good, but not good for someone who just cant "download SD contents" or "Backup" SD contents(???) How do you do that??? Its easy to say, but for many of us, these instructions leave us dead in the water. Joshua Bardwell is great with showing things like "make a file and out it here" kinds of things. I happen to like your style of teaching. Showing the what you may feel is "simple" can still help us out here who forget some of the simple things that people who may use computers daily take for granted.

      @@RCThis I hear you, but it takes time to put these videos together. I thought I'd give you some verbal instructions to get you started.
      Have you downloaed OpenTx Companion yet?
      Why don't you start with that:
      downloads.open-tx.org/2.3/release/companion/windows/companion-windows-2.3.9.exe
      Install that, open it up and just look at it. The options for downloading firmward and updating sd card contents are all in that software. It's free, and you'll need it for updating the radio.
      Also don't forget, you don't HAVE to update it to use it. The radio ships with a working operating system.
